This place had theeeeeee best continental breakfast I have ever had! Fresh scrambled eggs, corned beef hash, and grits!! My Lady in the kitchen puts love into breakfast each morning that she is there. I soooo appreciated her smile daily and making sure I had everything I needed to go off and be great at work! Salute!!! The stay was great, off the strip, and many places to eat within a 2-5 mile driving radius! If I am back in town, I would definitely stay here again! This hotel served its purpose. We were on the road headed to NJ and decided to stop and stay here overnight. We arrived a little after midnight and Maria checked us in... how cool, right!? Maria was a bit chatty at this hour, but I did not mind... I called ahead of stopping just to make sure room was available. She assured we were good and quoted us the rate. We pulled up, she got us checked in and we were in our rooms within 15 minutes. Maria even offered us pens she received from a class she is currently taking... sharing is caring. The hotel is pretty dated, but it was clean enough to rest our bodies for a few hours. We didn't see any thing strange nor experience any issues. I was able to use the fitness room and it served its purpose. Ross, my favorite store is within walking distance and I woke up early enough to be their first customer :) If you are in the area, check them out. I am only deducting one star, because this is not your top of the line hotel, but definitely worthy if you need it for an overnight stay. Have fun and enjoy life :) read more

My first experience was the non-contact check-in was full contact since the door lock would not function from my iPhone. I visited the front desk and stated the door lock would not function to which the staff stated "maybe it's your phone". I subsequently checked the stairwell entry door and the feature worked fine from my phone. The room requires repair as the wallboard and paint was peeling from several areas of the bathroom ceiling. This is the dirtiest Hilton ever - even dirtier than Paris Hilton. I walked into the room and thought I had entered a men's locker room... If all of the men who had used it had been forced to eat sauerkraut and bratwursts a few hours before working out. It was an offensive melange of mildew and rotting ass. I discovered black mold on the wall under the bathroom sink, mold in the tub, and 2 inches of dust clogging the air vent in the bathroom. There were water stains along the baseboards and rolling door into the bathroom suggesting a flood. Strangely, though, no fat, hairy men in gym shorts or leftover sauerkraut were discovered in the room during my stay. There isn't a closet, just a janky curtain and a narrow cubby. The garbage can in the bathroom didn't have a bag in it, was bent, dirty, and rusty. The best though? Upon check-in, unsolicited, the clerk told me he strongly suggested I park my car in a particular spot because then I would be in view of the security cameras. While I appreciated his concern for my safety... What in Hell is going on in and around that hotel that he felt a need to warn me not to park out of the range of the cameras? Bonus: The front desk did comp my stay at checkout and they offered to monitor the security camera until I made it to my car. read more

Our Overall experience was positive, the hotel was fine and clean with the exception of our bathroom that was full of mold due to lack of ventilation and our safety lock on our door was broken. the most concerning part of the hotel was the sketchy people walking around the perimeter of the hotel at all hours, either intoxicated or drugged. The most concerning part was the fact that a guy pulled up in his car right next to the pool and urinated next to his door while my children and family were swimming in the pool and then proceeded to smoke pot. I felt like i was in a scene from walking dead and was unfortunately was very concerned and would never let my children walk around alone in or outside of the hotel for this reason. the breakfast was excellent and the staff was wonderful. They even gave my dog some treats. read more

Came here with family for a one night trip.Ten minutes of being in our room we get a phone call from the front desk saying we were having complaints from other guests about making noise.Now where in the hell is there any hotel where guests can't talk in their own damn room? I have a disabled niece who was one of the people staying in the room along with my husband ,my nephew and myself.We weren't making noise like banging,or stomping or yelling but just because we were talking a little bit to loudly.My niece and nephew sometimes can't hear to well enough that you have to repeat something you say clearly for them to understand.Now both of my niece and nephew have their on mental disability issues along with the fact they both are grown.My niece is in a special adult size stroller not a wheelchair because she has to be pushed or use a adult walker because she has cerebral palsy in her legs and she can't stand nor walk too long.If I ever come back and visit this part of Delaware again I will definitely won't ever come stay at this hotel ever again read more

I drove into the capital city of the first US state, Delaware. I was planning to make this my last stop for the trip before heading back to Baltimore. I was hoping to check into a hotel and catch some z's to re-energize. I found this hotel on Yelp, and drove here to check in. Unfortunately, the hotel was booked. I asked the front desk attendant, Shanequa, what was going on in town that all the hotels were booked in the region. Apparently, there were Nascar races going on, so I wouldn't be able to find a hotel until I reached Wilmington. At that point, I just decided to make the effort and drive another hour and a half back to Baltimore. Shanequa let me have some coffee on the house, to which I added some cocoa powder to help give me an extra boost of energy. I made a pit stop at the restroom, then took off on my jouney. The hotel is pretty nice, and Shanequa provided good customer service. I would recommend this hotel (on a weekend when there is no Nascar races going on). There was a silver lining to all this: I got my final Yelp badge, statesman, thereby completing my collection of all Yelp badges in North America. read more

Staying at this hotel was a bad decision. My family settled in to the double room and noticed one ant. We started eating our take out dinner and noticed a large number of ants. It was disgusting!And just the thought of ants potentially in my bed ughhh. We called immediately to the front desk and told the rep the issue. The rep said she was would call maintenance to take a look. After one hour of waiting late at night, we were told that they could give us another room. I asked for a partial refund for the inconvenience and was denied. The customer service was poor and I refuse to stay at another Hampton Inn! read more

I made a last minute decision to drive to Dover on July 4, so I wasn't sure any rooms would be available but was pleasantly surprised to find a room at a reasonable rate at Hampton Inn-Dover. Hampton Inn is always a pretty reliable brand, so I felt comfortable booking without reading reviews. Overall, my stay was good. The staff were friendly, the breakfast was as expected, the room was clean and the bed was comfortable. However, I did notice some spiderwebs in the window when I pulled back the curtain, and there was some kind of flying bug on the ceiling all night. The pool was EXTREMELY warm, almost hot tub warm, and full of debris (what appeared to be mulch). I would suggest that they either invest in a pool sweeper or have the staff periodically go out and skim it. read more

Still a two star dive. I'm not sure how much I slept, but it wasn't much. With this location, you get to listen to every truck, souped up wanna be car, and dumptruck maneuver through the parking lots all night long. And the reason why is that the "fan" feature on the air conditioner is as close to silent as you can imagine. read more

I was really not paying attention when I made my reservation on-line. My daughter, two friends, a little dog and I packed into my car on a Saturday afternoon, so that we could go see the horseshoe crabs spawn on Slaughter Beach that night. As it was Memorial Day weekend, there were zero lodging options much closer than Dover and this had some great prices. When we arrived, it turns out I had booked the room for the night before. Whooops... sorry everyone. Fortunately, they were able to accommodate us (and our little dog too) and refunded me for the night before. They were incredibly understanding about my stupidity. Since I travel often, I have seen my share of hotels. This Hampton Inn is one of the better ones out there. Staff is friendly and helpful. The breakfast in the morning is higher quality and more quantity than most hotels with "continental breakfast." TIP: Bring a few extra bucks as this quality service doesn't come cheap! read more

Stayed here while visiting family. It got quite late and I was too tired to drive hours to get back home. Made a last minute reservation and still paid less than $100 including taxes, etc. The room had a king bed, desk, chair, etc. bathroom was quite clean and the water pressure, unlike another reviewer's experience, was ok on the 4th floor. Everything I used was in working order. The bed coverings were clean and fresh as was the carpeted floor. I have no complaints about the room. The room rate also includes basic wireless internet access and breakfast. The wireless signal is nearly full strength in the room I stayed in, even at the very end of the building. The speed was acceptable for general use but a bit slow for streaming video or work related remote sessions via VPN. The breakfast was just ok. Eggs, hash browns, juices and coffee, fruits, pastries, waffles, cereals, etc. Nothing special but enough to satisfy. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. Would not hesitate to return if in the area again. read more

I booked a one night stay. Upon arriving to my room I noticed an unpleasant odor which smelled like sewage. I notified the front desk. The front desk person came immediately to inspect the room and smelled it as soon as he stepped foot in the room. He told me that there was one room left in the hotel and reassigned me to that room. Later when I went to turn in for the evening I pulled the top cover back and there was hair all over the top sheet. Not just a few hairs but lots of noticeable hair everywhere. I checked the second bed in the room and hair was everywhere on it as well. It was after 2am at this time. Being that there were no rooms left, and quite frankly I don't think I'd want to stay in another room after the two experiences I'd just had, I requested a refund and was left with no alternative but to leave in the middle of the night. I would rate this experience a ZERO STAR experience if zero was an available choice. read more

Beautiful, clean rooms. Very nice. They take any size dog and they have truck/trailer parking. We used the laundry which is on the top floor and is only one washer and one dryer. And small ones at that. No microwave in the room although there is one in the lobby if you want to haul your food there to warm it. And no fan in the bathroom. Other than those three things we really enjoyed our stay and would have stay longer if the entire town hadn't been booked solid for the lacrosse tournament. I would give it five stars no problem if not for those little inconveniences. We will stay here again if we have the opportunity. read more

I chose this hotel based on reviews and pet friendly. I reserved a first floor room 3 weeks prior but was not able to get one only one on the 2nd floor. When I walked into my room it smelled like a musty cigar. The desk woman was very nice and offered another room but it was near the elevator. I brought her the very dirty ac filter and she got me a new one. The room is clean but building old. The stairway smelled too. Hotel door noises and typical banging that no one can control. Plenty of parking and shopping and restaurants nearby. Not a bad stay I felt safe parking my car. read more

We had to find a place to stay during the hurricane evacuation, so we headed north. We stayed at this hotel for the first night and it was very nice and clean. The rooms were large and you didn't hear any noise from the hall or other rooms. The staff was very helpful and responsive to any of our requests. The only good thing about this comfort inn in Dover, on DuPont, Hywy was the guy at the front desk. He was very friendly and pleasant personality. We arrived late after visiting family here in Delaware and were too tired to drive so decided to stop here to rest. I was so disappointed. The rooms are old and not up to standards. Bedspreads were nasty with some type of stains all over it and tub wasn't clean enough to shower. Looked at another room and that was worst. If possible I would give our stay here negative stars. I know this place was recently redone (they were doing some work to one floor and our room has new carpet which was nice). However, our room wasn't ready at three (their "Guaranteed check in time"). We left for a wedding and came back at 10, at which point we could get our keys. The bathroom had hair in the sink and on the towel. The shower had black stuff on the grout. You could hear everyone in the hallway and the t.v. in the room next to us. We stopped here on our way down to Virginia Beach. We had traveled about six hours or so and had three kids that were ready for a break, as were we. This place was very nice and refreshing. Fairly modern lobby area and nice big rooms. Soft and comfortable beds. We asked for a cot to be delivered for the third child to sleep in and it was promptly delivered. I had some trouble connecting to the wifi, but the gentleman at the front desk was very helpful in getting me connected. Kids enjoyed a nice swim in the pool and the continental breakfast was decent. The hotel is in a location that is convenient to many area restaurants. We would definitely stay here again next time we head south. Very nice for a nice price. read more

Let me begin by stating that the Front Desk Staff both day shift and night shift were extremely friendly and provided excellent service. My coworker and I are both active duty Soldiers with well over 15 years of honorable service. We stayed at the Hampton Inn as we were performing temporary duty in the Dover DE area. My coworker and I experienced some serious issues with one of the Breakfast Attendants. This particular Breakfast Attendant(who worked 28FEB17 and 1MAR17) would not respond to or acknowledge us greeting her in the morning as she would so joyfully do with the Caucasian guest. My coworker is Hispanic American and I am African American. On one occasion I asked her about the half & half container which was missing from the self serve coffee area. Upon my inquiry she rolled her eyes, very loudly gasped and sucked her teeth and reached in the kitchen's refrigerator grabbed the carton of half & half and poured me what she thought was an appropriate ration of half & half into my coffee cup. I don't know why this woman thought it was ok to treat us in such a demeaning manner. The mere fact that this woman employed at this Hampton Inn is enough for me to tell my friends, love ones, and fellow Service Members to stay away from this location. read more

Wow what a find. This Hampton is located on the main road through Dover, DE but it sits behind the Sheraton Inn across from the mall. I found it while searching the web looking for a quick place to stop due to a storm. First impression was great. The staff were friendly and professional. The reception area clean and inviting. Our room also yielded a good impression. It was clean and very inviting. Everything was stocked. The cable channel selection was great and the high speed internet was actually high speed...a rarity in most hotels. Because of its location, finding a hot meal for dinner was fast. Breakfast at the hotel the next day, which is complimentary, was VERY impressive. There was a large selection of of hot foods, bagels, pastries, donuts, hot oatmeal, 6 cold cereals, hard boiled eggs, fruit, several cold juices and several hot teas and coffees. We arrived at 9:45 (breakfast is over at 10 am) and everything was still available. We will definitely return here if we stay in Dover again. read more
