    Sausage eggs and waffles today!
    Mae D.

Here's the breakdown: -Clean hotel overall. The supervisor actually checked in to see the work the cleaning person did in our room. -Has a small pool, exercise room, business center and elevators. -Complimentary breakfast 6-10 am. Hot foods changes daily but they always have oatmeal, cereal, fruits, pastries and waffles (you make yourself). They also have free cookies later in the day by the front desk. -Offer military discount. -Quiet and comfortable. -free wifi but the signal wasn't too strong on the 3rd floor. Yes, the rooms are dated and the room had a smell (not cigarettes but kinda musky? Maybe it's the carpets/AC idk but I have a sensitive nose). Everything was clean and it all worked perfectly. The doors don't slam shut so make sure you check! I found out the hard way but thankfully nothing was out of place. I called the room next door and told them about their door because I noticed it was slightly opened for a while. The staff was outstanding. I think it was Tom? (The young male front desk employee) went above and beyond to help my husband and I which we truly appreciate. Made our situation less stressful :)

    Toilet bowl

Normally I love staying at Hampton Inns for their comfort and cleanliness. The non-smoking room we checked into had a dirty toilet bowl ring and a filthy dusty bath fan grill. The beds are comfy but the furniture is the oldest I've seen in any Hampton Inn I've stayed in. I'm not one to normally complain but I was pretty sure that management would want to know how I found the toilet to correct for future residents. As I expected, the assistant manager on duty as well as the lady behind the desk were shocked and apologetic. A gentleman I assumed was a maintenance engineer but not in any uniform was asked to go up to my room to clean the toilet and fan which I had taken pictures of on my phone and shown them. The assistant manager said that they always have a supervisor walk the rooms before they sell them and she will give me a different room. All I really wanted was the to correct those two issues and really just the toilet, but I said that's fine but we are going to dinner and we will move our luggage to the new room when we return. We didn't return until way past the shift change. The night desk clerk was instructed to give me keys to a clean room next door to our original room which still had a dirty bowl and of course a filthy fan filter in the bathroom. I guess the guy asked to clean our room was not on the same page as the assistant manager So we proceeded to move all our personal items to the replacement room but couldn't stay in it as it was a smoking room that had been recently occupied by a smoking guest if you get my meaning. For me, Hampton Inn had always offered a consistently high standard which I have happily relied upon until now. Fortunately the management kept trying and in the end discounted 100% the first night of my two night stay and made sure my room was clean. I would like to see them upgrade the furniture as well as provide uniforms or name tags for the staff. I kept seeing the same fella who I suspected was a maintenance engineer sitting in the lobby on his smart phone etc. The assistant manager was incredible but I think her property was not on par with perhaps newer Hampton Inns that I'm use to. Albeit more expensive. I want to give two stars but the response to my concern and comfort was genuine and very much appreciated. Also there is a great aviation visitors center just behind the hotel you don't want to pass on.

Great staff, it's what you can expect for what it is. Same layout as everything else you just get what you payed for.

Got our room keys went to the room and it had not been cleaned. Got a new room. walked down a musty dank hallway with dehumidifiers working full time. Got to my room and it was hot as hell!! The window had cardboard over a broken spot. The room ac/heat unit had wiring coming up the wall through a metal conduit pipe and across the top of the wall and out the door. The door had a 1 inch gap at the top and there was mold in the bathroom vent, the bathroom door had no latch on it so it wouldnt close, the couch smelled like cat pee, the floor lamp was tipped against the wall so I went to straighten it behind the couch and there was something broken back there and some pillows. The furniture was not even matching and had broken chunks out of it. It was like they went to a garage sale to get pieces for the rooms. At almost $100 per night it was highway robbery. This is more like a motel I imagine you pay by the hour for than one you would stay at with your family. On top of that..they are opening a club just off the lobby that has music and is open 24/7. Dont expect peace and quiet! I am also going to send a letter to Wyndham. This place is not worthy of the Wyndham label. STAY AWAY!!!

On April 11th we checked into The O'Neal. We were expecting a boutique hotel experience. While our…read moreroom was nice our experience was very different. We left the hotel at 6:30 for dinner. When we came back the door was locked. No one answered the doorbell. We called for assistance and were told to enter our room code. Three times that didn't work and neither did the other code we were given. We were told to drive to a sister hotel but our car keys were in the room. We were told someone would be there in 15 minutes. My husband tried entering the last 3 digits of our code and the door opened. We went to our room and packed. As we were leaving a woman opened the outside door explaining that the code worked and that we were being charged for the night. Never once did she apologize. The following Monday I called and asked for the owner's name and contact information. I emailed him about the experience and as of today I haven't heard from him. Very disappointing experience both Amanda Everett, the manager, and Stephen Hill, the owner do not know how to handle customer situations. We also were told that the hotel had problems with the door not opening. Had my husband not figured out how to open the door with only 3 digits we would have been standing on the sidewalk, on a Friday night for 45 minutes.

I spilled something on the bed so I pulled the sheets up from the mattress. When I came back later they just laid the sheets and blanket back down. I again had to go to the desk and ask for service. Went to the pool and some substance was floating in the corner. It looked like vomit. I alerted the staff and they said it was just pollen and suntan lotion. Pollen in late July? Was informed by other guest that 2 days prior someone had been vomiting in the pool and they never cleaned it. A guy came out with a paper towel and skimmed the water but it is very much still there.

(This visit was made during the times of Covidious. When things return to a look of normality -…read moreyour experience likely will vary.) It's a bizarre time to be reviewing most things because Covid has obviously thrown off the "normal" into many shades of grey. With that said, take this one with a grain of salt as it's only a brief snapshot in time for how things are now. In another month or two, who knows? Let's start with the good: The location to the beach couldn't be any better. Just a short walk and you're there. The hotel was sold out or near it every night we were there yet the beach area directly across the street was never busy. The same as last year with seeing the same families and people every day more or less set up in the same spot very spread out from each other. All Covidly perfect. Not so good: Hilton Honors benefits at check in are still a no here, just like last year. The beds are extremely squeaky. Any sitting/moving = high pitched squeaking. The hotel is not following the new Hilton/Lysol cleaning protocol that started a few weeks ago. No stickers on the room doors or verbiage anywhere on property. I was told at check in that if you want your garbage taken to have it in the hallway early in the morning so that housekeeping could grab it and that the only way to get fresh towels or any bedding was to stop a housekeeper in the hall with your old stuff or bring your old stuff with you to the front desk since the hotel was running extremely low. Is the hotel's linen par really that low? Is the smell of that much garbage-food in the hallways overnight a good idea? Our room was dusty/sandy when we checked in and the a/c unit was filthy. No way were either cleaned thoroughly in a while. But since there was no daily housekeeping and with the hotel being sold out the day we checked in... If you want a hotel that has a great beach location that is out of the way and quiet, this is it. Past that, things were on the dirtier side in general and I question any place not following the new cleaning protocol. Time to give this one a rest for a bit.
