Overall great experience since I needed a quick stay. Room were clean and spacious. Room temperature was set to 60 in the winter which was unpleasant and it took awhile to heat the room. Bathroom were clean and neat. Service was great as I had a quick interaction with staff as I moved. Used the convenient app to unlock doors. Great breakfast every day all my stayin the hotel. Good choices of eggs, pastries, waffles, bacon, potatoes, etc. Parking was free and convenient with decent sized lot. Safety wise, it's on a busy street and location seems great. Convenient to other stores nearby also. I felt safe coming here. This will be a return when I need to in future. Set at the intersection of Highways 1 and 9, this modern hotel is 1.2 miles from Linden airport and 5 miles from Newark Liberty international airport. All rooms include free Wi-Fi, minifridges and custom-designed beds, plus both full desks and lap desks for working on the bed, coffeemakers, microwaves and flat-screen TVs, and some have whirlpool tubs. BEWARE!!!This is the most sketchy hotel/motel I have ever stayed in and I have traveled a lot... the first night seemed pretty normal, but we got back for the Friday night...It was very unsettling ...there was a woman who camped out in one of the booths for the entire stay. Seem to be a type of trafficking/prostitution situation...there were people walking through the halls with baby strollers without babies in them and after hours people trying to break into the front door, although the front desk often just buzzed everyone else in! One of our teenage girls was followed until she got back to her room. It was downright terrifying ...Our room peep hole literally just popped in and out... we would have left except for we didn't get there second night to sleep until after 11 PM ...looks are deceiving as it appeared to be in pretty decent condition for a Hampton. This was one of the better hotel stays I have had. Check-in process was great. The room was spacious and not outdated with hidden refrigerator,microwave, work desk and chair, large TV and comfortable beds. The person checking us in was pleasant and efficient. The room was fairly good, but there's some water damage behind the bathroom door that didn't look so nice. The beds were clean and comfortable. Our room faced the main road, so a loud car or stereo could be heard a couple of times. There are a few restaurants basically next door and a Starbucks for the morning. The staff here is awesome, the manager is nice, the front desk Robbie, Pamela and Maddy have been very helpful. Their professional demeanor, and knowledge of customer service has gone over and beyond expected standards. So I appreciate them for making my stay welcoming. Checked into the Hampton Inn Linden, on Saturday, August 31, 2024, for one night. We arrived a little early, and the staff including the manager, was very friendly, and told us their is an early arrival fee, and stated our room was not ready. The check-in staff made sure the line moved fast when we came back at 3 p.m. The hotel was very full, and everyone seemed to be in great spirits. There is plenty of parking, and it is also in a shopping strip, with a Shoprite, The Home Depot, Chevy's Mexican Restaurant, and other small stores and restaurants. Across the road, there are even more stores, including a Walmart and Chick-fil-A. Our room was basic, yet comfortable, and we heard very little noise. The breakfast buffet seemed nice, my husband said it was pretty decent. It was crowded, yet everyone seemed comfortable and were enjoying their food. We stayed on the first floor and did hear early in the morning, the staff prepping the food, but it did not bother us, as we were leaving early. Check-out was fast and with a smile. Ok, so I can say this. Almost ALL of the negative reviews are BEFORE the remodel which is huge and still going on. Most of the rooms and public areas are all done, but the parking lot was an absolute nightmare when I was there this week. They are repaving it, which means you have to make sure you don't park your vehicle in the way of the asphalt trucks, or I assume, they just pave right over you. I had to move my car once during my stay, alerted by an early-morning phone call. Not pleasant. The renovation is nice except for the fact that they chose bright-ass bleach white star power glaring light bulbs in all areas. So bright that if you took the roof off this hotel you could see it from space. The rooms likewise have this ultra-brilliant stark white LED lighting. It's just cold and unsettling. If you're planning a romantic getaway in your hotel room, this will NOT be the hotel for you. CHANGE THOSE BULBS! The star of the visit however, and why the 4 star review, is because of the delightful Pam at the front desk. Super professional and sweet at the same time, she handled by herself multiple complaints from customers all with a smile. Everyone was happy. She just has that way with people. She made my stay a pleasant one. I have stayed in this hotel for years, so I really don't understand the negativity, and I'll continue to stay here. Came here for an over right stay Super Bowl Sunday. Upon entering the lobby area wa clean and inviting and the front desk clerk was super pleasant with check-in being a breeze. She recommended is to get the room with the jacuzzi at no additonal.cost and, why not? Upon entering the room, we were quickly met with some issues. First, the room was clean and after my mandatory bed bug check, okay, but was in serious need of a renovation. The bed, carpeting, jacuzzi, fridge and microwave, were worn, bit functional. The location was next to a shopping mall with plenty of restaurants and stores within walking distance and a there was a brand new Super Walmart a block up the street. When taking a shower the next morning, there was NO hot water, only cold! Needless to say, that was not the greatest start of the day, especially when your team lost the big.game. When checking out, we left super early, so no review on the breakfast. Oit check out was a bit muddled as the front desk person was also a member of housekeeping and checked out the wrong room and we had to wait for them to sort it out (an additional 25 minutes). Dec 29 - Jan1 2023 Had the worst stay possible at this place. Incompetent front desk staff, filthy rooms, dirty running water for 3+ days, maintenance barging into your room after ignoring knocks. Make sure to take pictures before you stay in your room. Paid 500 for a few nights and faced nothing but inconveniences. Complained to hilton and they would not compensate me because the manager BLATANTLY LIED about all of our complaints and said they were untrue. Good thing I got pictures and videos of the place and sent them to my bank so I was able to get my FULL REFUND. Heres the complaint I filed: Upon arriving, the running water in the faucet and sink was dirty/brown We had to let the water run for about 20-30 minutes to get clean water. This occurred every single night/morning. -On Thursday, Dec 29th, the hotel did not have any running water from the hours of 5pm-12am. They claimed it would only be off until 7pm. After constantly going to the front desk to ask about the water, we were told "we really don't know when it's gonna come back on." I had to check into a different motel just to shower. HUGE inconvenience. -On Friday, Dec 30th, there was no HOT WATER in the early morning hours (about 4am.) I tested the water every hour. The hot water came on around 12pm. Thats one night with no water, then one morning with no HOT water. -Maintenance came into my room on 2 separate mornings around 9-10am and spent about 30 minutes hammering, drilling, and making so much noise. (This also had NOTHING to do with the water issues because shortly after they left, we still had no HOT water) -I complained to the front desk that my air conditioning unit was not working, and that the room was at a steady 74 degrees for hours. I told them this at around 2pm and left for the day. I got back around 8pm, and the lady at the front desk informed me that NO ONE went to fix the problem. After heading back to the room and waiting for maintenance to attempt to get it working (waited about an hour) we had to switch rooms (originally room 340, switched to room 142) because the problem was not fixed. By this time it was around 11pm. I contacted the Hilton/Hampton HR and they opened a case about the listed issues, and told me that the hotel will be in touch within 2 days. I was then told to talk to the manager. When I went to speak to the manager, the lady at the desk said "she comes in at 10" so I went out, came back around 12pm and then was told "she left early today." I went the next day, and they lady at the desk said "she isn't coming in today." This was extremely frustrating. They were clearly avoiding me. This is not the kind of stay I would expect at a Hampton Inn. This stay was absolutely horrible. The front desk was completely useless, and the room conditions were unacceptable. No water, not HOT water, no CLEAN water, broken air conditioning that was never fixed after 6 hours, and noisy mornings with people banging walls in our bathroom. Despite all of this, they told me they wouldn't refund me but offered me 30k hilton points. Lol. Thats like $80? Bye. Shout out to my bank for the help. TLDR: DO NOT STAY HERE!!! read more

In my room, you should see all the debris behind the nightstand and along the bedframes. This has all been there a while. I'd take photos but what would be the point, to make everyone sick? At 11:30pm, the inconsiderate, lowlife pieces of shit in the room next to mine decided to start blaring music. I called the front desk and got lip service. I called again 15 min later, 25 min later, and 30 min later, and each time no answer at the front desk because the girl doesn't want to be bothered. I'd go down to the lobby but it'll just be me screaming at the girl and threatening to call the police if she doesn't get these assholes to stfu. This is a Hilton Honors property. And it's no better than a Motel 6. I haven't even mentioned the charging station on the desk that's sticky and disgusting and probably hasn't been cleaned since the Clinton Administration. Oh, the irony. Just to be fair, i'm on the 3rd floor and there's a good internet connection. Despite the bad reviews I'm really happy with my stay at this place. Room: very clean beds and linen. We had two queen beds, a TV, microwave, fridge. The coat closet was spacious and the desk was large. Service: Shy at the front desk made my check-in process super smooth and also threw in some complimentary water and snacks. The best part is that Shy moves our check-out by an hour and a half without even asking, I guess it was written on our faces how tired we were. All eight pillows were covered in yellow stains from previous guests, two had blood stains and 3 pillows were so old they were balled up. The vents are covered in dust, bathroom light did not work, shower had black filth in the group. The General Manager is a coward and will not talk to me in person it return 2 calls after I left the hotel. The one pillow was still damp from the previous guests. I asked housekeeping why they would allow these pillows to stay. She said they hotel does not have any new pillows and they are told to change the pillow case. I LOVE this location! It's home away from home...always!! Although we had visited NJ for a sad occasion, we were happy to be welcomed by great staff. Our room was immaculate! Kudos to housekeeping! The hotel is situated on a busy highway. A huge shopping center is directly in the rear of the hotel, with various eateries. A relatively new Wal-Mart is nearby. I'm used to having breakfast at this location whenever in town, but due to COVID-19, I truly understand why breakfast is not being served at this time. Where to start... it was a rollercoaster stay. Typical Hampton. Clean, comfortable and a friendly staff on hand. Plenty of food and shopping options nearby. Let's break it down.... + Arrived two hrs before my arranged check in time that I'd selected and we were allowed to check in. It required a room change, but no big deal. I was tired after the drive and happy to be able to relax. - Couldn't access the fitness center due to a key issue. Not a problem really...just an inconvenience. Omar (remember the name) saw that we were having an issue as he was passing by and used his key to get us in. - I'm shaving prior to dinner when I realize that I'm standing in a SIZABLE puddle of water that is running out from under the sink. I report the issue to the desk and head off to our dinner reservation. + We return to the room to find Omar (see above) laying on the floor under the sink looking at YouTube to get some knowledge on how to solve our sink issue. Omar had the sink fixed within a half hour of our return to the room and was every bit as friendly and courteous as when we'd met earlier in the day. Things happen. I'm not the guy who is going to trash a place over random issues. I'm surely not the guy who is going to pull a couch away from the wall in hopes of finding something that he can come on here and trash housekeeping over. This Hampton is in-line with the others. It's no better and no worse. I stay exclusively with Hilton family hotels and was satisfied with my stay. I will say that Omar should be commended for going above and beyond to make sure things were taken care of quickly and efficiently. She would hang up when you were talking mid-sentence, gave me attitude, and just be a nasty human all together. Not only was her attitude disrespectful but so are the rooms at this property. ( My partner ended up booking another room because they aren't familiar with the area and was desperate for a place to stay as I was coming out of major surgery from the hospital in that area) The rooms are out-dated, dead bugs in the rooms, dirty bathrooms, cigarettes ashes in the hallways, rooms smelled mildew, hair in the shower, and drug transactions in the parking lot. Due to it being so unsanitary and clearly no housekeeping at all we found somewhere else. We ended up leaving after 20 mins of being in the room. I don't recommend this property at all! When I checked in to my room, it was around 76 degrees. I turned it down to 70 before going to dinner, and was disappointed when I returned later that evening and the AC still hadn't cooled the room. I called the front desk and they sent maintenance to look at it. He hit the reset button on the thermostat, and said to let them know if it goes off again. Well, I woke up at 4 the next morning too hot because the AC was off. I let the front desk know that it needed to be fixed while I was out for the day. I came back and it was still 76, so I asked to change rooms. They said they were at capacity and could downgrade my room to a double or give me an ADA room. I took the ADA. In addition to the air conditioning problems, the place wasn't that clean. See the photos I posted of the dirty vents, moldy shower, and desk chair with mystery fluids. When I changed rooms to the ADA room, it had the same dirty vents and moldy shower. For $139/night I at least expect a clean room. Disappointing. read more

So much for a free room for frontline workers! Absolutely rude lady answering the phone refusing to even come to the door. Fellow nurse and myself booked a frontline healthcare worker room so we had somewhere to sleep after working 12.5 hrs on the frontline as nurses before driving an hour and 40 minutes home. She refused to let us check in stating there were no rooms, but only 8 cars in the parking lot and their website showed availability. She told us we'd have to wait till at least after 1 and then got an attitude after I told her to just cancel the reservation. Oh, but then she says, "I already let someone else check in early". You have to go into this hotel expecting a Hampton Inn, if you were expecting anything else you will be disappointed or pleasantly surprised. I understand that due to the Covid 19 pandemic a lot of precautions were put in place to protect guests and staff. So prior to staying at the Hampton Inn Linden, I educated myself on the changes that the hotel had made. I, also, called the front desk for more information and was notified of the mask policy, closed pool and fitness area. My goal was to prepare myself for the visit as I am from out of state and would be accompanied by my young children and mother. During our stay, we encountered several unsatisfactory service levels. First, upon my arrival, I was informed that the complimentary breakfast had been suspended due to the virus. Upon entry to my room, the clock and phone were not in working order and the air condition would glitch. Please note I stayed at the hotel during one of the hottest weekends. Second, I was informed by rude housekeepers that I had to get all linen from the front desk, change the beds myself, and dispose of trash bags in the lobby. This is something that should have been noted on the website and reflected in the price. Third, I called the front desk to complain about the air condition. I asked to switch rooms. I was informed that there were no rooms available due to a boiler break which affected an entire side of the hotel. Although, there were only about 15 cars in the parking lot. Also, my daughters and I woke up with multiple bug bites on our bodies. We could not find the bug. My experience at this hotel was very disappointing. I was extremely uncomfortable. They refused to give me clean sheets or towels. I ended up buying my own towels. Then I changed rooms so I would have clean sheets. NO breakfast provided. Most mornings there wasn't even coffee in the lobby. RUDE staff!!! I shouldn't have to beg for clean towels. Since there was NO housekeeping, people just left their trash in the hallway. What a slum this place is. Management is trying to recoup the money they lost when the virus dropped the occupancy rate to near zero. Unfortunately they are more concerned about money than they are with customer service, because it's the CUSTOMER who's suffering - not to mention the folks who worked in housekeeping and are now unemployed. I am a member of their Hilton Honors Program and am supposed to get some extra perks, greet me by name, kiss me on the cheeks, whatever. Wow, what an experience. My team arrived at about 6:15pm and we agreed to leave for dinner at 7:00 next door at Chevys. The plan was to get checked in, freshen up, and walk next door. Enter the HUGE Storm. I mean, flooding EVERYWHERE. Just getting to the Hampton from the office took about 30 minutes longer than it should have due to all the re-routing around flooded streets, floating cars, and 0 visibility driving in gail force winds and heavy rain. But we all made it, and I thought it was sad that there were people in the lobby complaining that their rooms were flooded. Awww, poor people! Then I got my key and walked down the hallway to my room... the closer I got the more signs of flooding I saw... no... please... not in my room?! But I unlocked the door and took one step in and my shoe sank into the flooded carpet as water dripped onto my head. I turned and left and joined the group of upset customers in the lobby with no place to stay. About 6-8 rooms were affected I'd say. What made it worse was the Computer Room was ALSO flooded, so the entire network was down, and they could not give us new rooms yet. But the staff was kind and patient, and made me feel that way too. They were very helpful and engaging to my entire group in letting all of us know what was going on. I said Okay, we are leaving for dinner so I hope when we get back all of this will be straightened out. They assured me it would be. Another guy in our group of 10 people ran into the same issue, but I was on the 1st floor and he was on the 2nd floor right above me. The problem was a broken pipe, it caused tremendous damage in many rooms. Thank goodness, after we returned from dinner everything was straightened out. Tho I find myself in Linden a few times each year, only the past few times I've visited have I found myself in need of a hotel room. The friend I used to stay with moved and their new apartment can't accommodate guests the way the old one could. Enter Hampton Inn. For the price, this Hampton Inn really rolls out the red carpet to its guests. A spacious room, comfortable bed and nice bathroom always await me, and generally they are willing and able to accommodate an early arrival. My favorite thing I discovered this time is the complimentary transportation to and from either the train station or airport. It makes getting around a breeze, and I didn't have to take a cab or deal with train schedules when it was time to go. Another nice feature is the morning breakfast spread that is included with your stay. This isn't a some crappy continental breakfast - this is pretty much anything you could possibly desire for breakfast. Waffles, cereals, fresh fruit, fruit salad, oatmeal, pastries, breads, and a selection of hot foods like eggs, bacon and breakfast potatoes, plus boiled eggs too. If you can't find something here you don't deserve breakfast. All that, plus there's a pool and it's within walking distance of the shopping center (Target, Old Navy, Shop Rite) and plenty of chain restaurants and a Starbucks. There's also a convenient business center that I've used. I can't say enough good things about this hotel and know there's no other choice for me when I stay in the area. read more

I've never experienced a Hampton Inn like this before. Dreadful front desk staff, tardy housekeepers and private parties held at the pool. I thought I was on an undercover television program. I expected Gordon Ramsay to show up. Two stars for convenience location and wonderful breakfast server. Try harder Hampton Inn Linden! read more

Not the normal for Hampton Inn! Housekeeping not consistent. Rooms are worn and breakfast is late frequently. Not good when your on a schedule. Will find a more typical Hilton to spend my Money. To bad to return . read more

Okay so maybe the people who gave this place 3 stars are used to incredible luxury and 5 star hotels on the regular. However, if you're a somewhat normal person in this economy looking for a reasonably priced placed to stay than this place is fantastic. I have to stayed here for a month and was super impressed. PROS: 1. CLEAN!!! I love cleanliness, and this place is super clean and the atmosphere is very nice when walking in. My rooms were very nice. I ended up in a standard King, a double, and the king with jacuzzi and they were all extremely spacious, especially the standard King. There is a lot of drawer space, a large bed, 2 night stands, a chair, and a very large desk with a comfortable office chair. There is also an ironing board and iron in the closet, and they also have coin laundry here. 2. Friendly staff. When I checked in the staff was super friendly, and have been every time I have been in and out. Also this morning at breakfast, I noticed staff asking people how they were doing, how they were liking their stay, and how their food was. 3. FREE!! Free wifi, free gym, free pool, free breakfast, free fresh baked cookies, and free coffee 24 hours. There's eggs, waffles, bagels and bread, juice, fruit, yogurt, breakfast meat, muffins, etc. the breakfast is better on some days than others so then it's a mixed bag with what you might get. Also, on my way back in there were fresh cookies in the lobby and they were delicious! I made use of the gym, and it was a standard small gym with common equipment. 4. Surrounding convenience. There's a bunch of restaurants within walking distance. Applebee's, Chevy's, Dragonfly, and then there's an AMC movie theater as well as a Starbucks and Target right here. The convenience is great. Plus there is a fridge with small freezer and a microwave in the rooms, some rooms don't have the freezer. Making it easy to buy food or drinks from outside and store them in your room to save some money. CONS: There really aren't many. 1. I would say the freezer not being in every room makes it difficult if you're staying for a while and want frozen food. 2. The breakfast like I said can be hit or miss.
