Not a bad stay. Got 2 rooms and when we checked in one room wasn't ready and the other one wasn't cleaned right. Pool was small but worked for us. Not enough towels or chairs. Staff were nice. Had breakfast buffet with eggs sausages breakfast sandwiches and the waffle maker along with some bagels muffins fruits and yogurt. Overall not a bad stay read more

One of the most perfect stays I've experienced in a hotel as of late. I checked in as part of a bridal party and we stayed in one of the suites. It comfortably slept the four of us. I'll also note that we were loud and boisterous and called the front desk and made numerous requests. The staff was beyond accommodating and met each request with a smile. The room was extremely clean upon check in and well stocked with all of the necessities. It also had a mini fridge and microwave. That's always a nice touch and we did get good use out of it. Other great things about this hotel would be free parking and of course a well stocked free breakfast. We made sure to take advantage of everything. The pool area was small but nice as well. One small thing that was annoying was the size of the fitness center. The four of us wanted to workout together but literally couldn't all fit in the gym together. I know hotel gyms are notoriously small but this one was just sad. But chances are you aren't a heathen like me and you don't work out on vacation anyways. Really not a a big deal for most people. I highly recommend staying here. Lots of restaurants and good malls only minutes away. Good value for your money. Our bridal party had fun. Would stay again if in the area. read more

This business should be condemned. It's shameful to put such a nice "name brand" hotel in such a dumpy area. I booked this hotel through my companies travel booking system - and assumed anything by Marriott would be acceptable, but I was wrong. This place is literally located next to a trash dump. I was shocked to open my blinds and see trash - and I mean literal mountains of trash on the adjoining property. Apart from that, the rooms were extremely worn, sheets paper thin / old, dust on the floors (especially corners, where the vacuum might not reach, and an embarrassingly small shower. I have no idea who the target demographic for this hotel is, but it's certainly not me (or any business traveler). I would not stay here again. read more

So the hotel didnt send me a Guest Satisfaction Survey so I had to review it here... My kids love to go to hotels, Why?! THE POOL! So a few days before Thanksgiving we decided we were going to do a last minute little long weekend vaca. I set off in search of a hotel near*ish to the city with a pool... I have been to this hotel in years past & it was decent and I see they renovated so off we went. Only to get there and find out the pool is closed (for no reason why, or at least no reason that was shared with me) THE ENTIRE LONG WEEKEND (Holiday weekend at that)... So yeah, Not a happy camper, considering its really the only reason I came here - for kids to swim & spend some time hanging at the pool to waste time & not have to spend Major $$ somewhere else... Yeah, will think to call next time, Or maybe Marriott should keep their websites up to date on info like this... Just a thought! read more

First and Foremost...Very clean and very friendly staff. The main reasons I am giving 3 stars is because there are no mirrors in the main room. There is only the bathroom mirror. If there is more than one guest and one is in the bathroom, the other needs a secondary mirror to put on makeup, do hair, etc. Additionally, there are no hooks in the bathroom. There is no place to put a hand towel by the sink. There is no place to hang your towel while showering. On a positive note, good standard free breakfast. Good hot coffee. Fresh bananas. Breakfast was as expected. Breakfast attendant was very friendly and on top of cleaning and refilling. If you are looking for a reasonably priced place to stay for the night, and are not expecting too much, than this is the place for you. If I was in the area and needed a place for just one night, I would stay here again. There was a fridge in the room although that was not stated on the hotel's website. There is a pool and small workout place, although I did not use either one so cannot comment. read more

About a month ago I stayed at this property and had a poor experience, which I shared through a customer satisfaction survey. Some of my issues I experienced were blood stains on the drapes in my room, and the toilet didn't flush properly. Also, the alarm clock and TV didn't work and the front desk staff was RUDE when I reported these issues! The GM emailed me back what was clearly a form letter in response apologizing for the experience and stating they would do everything possible to make it right. As it turns out I had to stay at this location again against my better judgement last week - and I was assigned to the SAME room (what are the odds?). Even though my front desk experience was much improved - great even, and the alarm clock and TV seem to have been replaced, I was shocked to find that the drapes still had the same blood stains (how can that room be cleaned daily and no one notice this - and how could it possibly be left there after a customer reported it?) Also - the toilet wasn't fixed either and would only flush if you stood there and held the handle down! It's just beyond understanding how these issues could have been left for another customer to experience after I specifically reported them a full 30 days previously. Upon checkout, I emailed the GM as he had provided me his contact information last time - and at this point, one week later, I have yet to even have my email acknowledged...just another sign that the customer's experience has absolutely no importance at this location. Going forward I will guarantee that I will not stay at this location when I am in the area every month, and I will personally ensure that my colleagues will not book at this location either. As a recent Marriott convert, and someone who spends a significant amount of time in hotels, this is not what I have come to expect from this brand. Fortunately, my experience at every other Marriott property has been the opposite of this one, so I am confident the issues here are isolated ones, and are a direct representation of the leadership's lack of commitment to excellence at this property! read more

Beware, there is no airport transportation. I had a connecting flight cancelled at Newark and booked a room at this hotel because their website stated they offered complimentary airport transportation. After arriving at Newark and collecting my bags, I called the hotel for my pickup. They told me they stopped that service a month ago. They were rude and insisted their website had been updated. I informed them that both their website and the Marriott app states they provide complimentary airport transportation. Their staff was rude and unaccomodating. read more

This hotel might have been a three had they not rescued me from the smoking room at the Hampton. For that I bumped them up to a four. It's easy to get to, near my destination and the staff was very service oriented and friendly. The area is industrial, right where I need to be. Breakfast was continental, OK. This hotel is noisy enough being on Rt. 1, why would you add the always-delightful sounds of wrecked cars being piled on top of one another? Otherwise, this hotel was really great. To start we are staying here because my husband's work this is where they have us at we were told to have a card on file but it would not be charged as soon as I put it on file they charge our card $800 right off the bat even though there's a company card on the same room then not only does it take forever to refund it but it keeps hitting our card every fucking day for $1000 and they refuse to do anything we let it go and let some time pass because we're staying here for over 90 days then we get locked out of our room because of a malfunction with the door and my service animal was locked in there and they refused to open it that night and they call a maintenance man here or they call somebody to open the door and get my medication in my service animal I've never been so disgusted by hotel my life have to repair jobs in the hotel are done choppy and not correct there's never any hot water and if there is it's always scalding hot I would not recommend the windows are leaky in the room smells like mildew and we are in a master suite I'm now I've been locked out for four hours and have been denied access to my service animal they refused to get anybody down here tonight to do anything I would not recommend staying here read more

Not the greatest place I have been. Towels looked worn out. Not enough traditional Marriott touches. When I first checked in, I went to my room just to find out someone else was sleeping in there. They then gave me an upgrade to a suite, come to find out same room I had before. All front desk did was take a couple dollars of my bill. Not my 1st choice when coming back to this area. Breakfast is subpar not many choices just not the marriott flare that it normally comes with. For being a Gold member I thought I would get treated better. Too bad. read more

Got this on a Groupon thinking it was a good deal until we arrived.  The rooms were clean but that was about the only good thing. The outlets only worked on one wall and on the lamps.  There was no mini fridge as advertised nor was there a safe and oddly enough, the coffee maker was in the bathroom.   Phoned the front desk and the clerk was apologetic. However,  she stated that they were at full capacity so unfortunately,  we couldn't get a mini fridge nor could we swap rooms. Headed to the pool and hot tub and was taken aback. First off, there was no hot tub although there are signs indicating that it is, indeed,  a pool AND spa. I assume that the spa part meant a dank and humid room where there are chairs sprawled about.  As for the "heated pool", this was not the case either.  The only heat is from your body temperature which will decrease as you enter the frigid water.  Also,  if you look at the photos on the site, they are VERY misleading. For one, it's not pristine nor was it clean. They also did a great job cropping the pool so you don't see how truly small it is.  Picture two jacuzzis slapped together (Don't expect to do laps).There was also so much chlorine in the water that your eyes burned even if you didn't dip your head into it. My 11 year old even complained about it. My guess is that they added that much to offset the odor of the room. The gym was tiny.  Kudos again to the cameraman. Very good job tricking consumers into thinking you have a decent sized gym.  Trust me it's all mirrors. There's four treadmills and a weight set.   Breakfast was okay. It's served buffet style from 7-10am. Scrambled and hard boiled eggs, sausage,  bacon (unless you get there after 8:30), a mini waffle maker,  coffee from Bold Beginnings,  apples,  bananas, cold cereal,  yogurt,  bagels,  muffins,  bread,  a toaster,  o.j. , tea, milk, fruit salad, and lemon infused water.   It does the job but be prepared to experience what seems like a cheese bus line as there always seems to be a crowd of people (camps,  conventions,  etc) making a mad dash to eat once it opens.  Don't expect a seat. (perhaps this is an ideal time to enjoy the pint sized empty pool). Then there's the issue of towels.  There's none in the pool area so you have to bring your own from the room.  Good luck trying to get new ones. We were told they were out of towels at 7am after an early dip in the pool so we  had to wait until 11 to get new ones because they were being washed.  To add insult to injury,  the staff were using those very same towels to mop up spills with a stick in the kitchen area.  (Maybe that's why they were out to begin with) Here's an idea: Get a mop! Lastly, the internet is extremely slow and you won't get good reception here so prepare for that.  And if it drizzles, expect to have issues with the television as ours was freezing up and buffering throughout our stay. (Side note: although the message on the screen says to contact the front desk,  they just apologize but they can't do anything to remedy it). Thank you Direct TV. I wish I could say the service was great but it was subpar at best. Just a lot of apologies and a lot of following up on our part. In the same,  some of staff had attitude issues as though we were inconveniencing them with our inquiries. The kitchen staff especially. Nonetheless we voiced our gripes politely and calmly. We didn't have great expectations but this definitely wasn't even worth the Groupon price.  Nevertheless,  we won't be coming back to this location and we are extremely surprised that this chain has the Marriott name. I should've read more reviews before selecting this venue. Keep in mind that this was my experience at the Fairfield in Avenel, NJ. This review does not speak on the atmosphere /service at other locations. Results will vary so if you plan on staying here, I can only hope you fare better than I did. I booked this hotel last minute without reading the reviews. I've stayed at various Fairfield Inn & Suites locations in the region- NJ, PA, DE so I thought I knew what to expect. I knew I had made a mistake when I saw the front of the hotel and half of the word Fairfield was dark. The first time I've ever seen anything like that at a Marriott. It's in a dark, dirty almost industrial area. It is on a major thruway so that was convenient. I was shocked when I got to the room and there was no fridge. I had to throw out my doggy bags from dinner. I don't recommend this hotel. It's not what one would expect from a Marriott. read more

I dont know why anyone has a terrible review because i beg to differ. From the moment i walked in, i was greeted with a friendly HI! Checked in with ease, got up to my room, it was clean and nice. I took a nice hot bath...and got in my nice big comfortable bed and watched some TV with plenty channel options. This Marriot is NICE. On my second day (today) i woke up at 9:50 and got some of the eggs, bacon, muffins, juice and waffles from the breakfast buffet... i enjoyed the pool and jacuzzi, no one was really in there, which was great. . .and now im back in my room typing to you guys from my reliable and high speed free wireless internet! I had a great time and would definitely stay again! Staff was exceptional, the cook even made some extra sausage for us the second day because we were too late, and it was all gone when we got downstairs. Only bad thing i can say about it is the ice machine is all the way downstairs, and its not really enough laundry machines. The elevator was quite slow too but that doesnt stop me from enjoying anything! read more

Hotel serves it purpose. Plan on staying here if you're planning on visiting the city; it has a convenient free shuttle that will drop you off at the nearest train station. It will also pick you up at any hour! They offer drop/pick-up service to many of the nearby restaurants too. The hotel itself is pretty blah... Looks just like all the other standard Marriott complexes. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I'd stay here again of I had to stay in Jersey for an extended stay - mostly bc of the proximity to the train station. read more

This is a great hotel for the price, especially within the vicinity of NYC. It's a little farther (about 40 min. drive from the city), but was the least expensive option we found that still offered a pleasant and comfortable experience. It's normally $79/night, but with a AAA discount, it came to $75 (tax not included) for a double room. The hotel has free internet (in-room and also a computer in the lobby w/ free printing), pool & whirlpool, and fitness center. A good-sized breakfast is included, with a nice selection of the usual breads/pastries and drinks, but also make-your-own waffles, sausage/ham & egg sandwiches (microwaveable), and others. Everything was clean, and the hotel staff was helpful. The only thing I would've liked is thicker comforters (or a quieter heating system). And there were plastic mattress covers, but they didn't make too much noise. A good experience overall, and would definitely stay here again! Side note: In considering options for an affordable way to visit NYC, this turned out pretty well. We ended up driving into the city and parking at garages -- bestparking.com was very helpful, and we found some garages at rates of $10 for 12 hours (on weekends), which is cheaper than even public transportation, esp. for 2+ people. There are 2-3 tolls along the way into / out of the city, and that comes out to around $10 or less each way. We also planned our visits to limit the amount of metro rides ($2 each or 6 rides for $10 ticket which is shareable between people). read more

List of issues we encountered during our stay: Multiple holds on our account - When we first checked in (Friday, Dec 19th) we had two holds placed on our account. We used points for our stay. We made our reservation online. It was for 15 days (1 free night's stay for every 4 nights promotion). Once we made the reservation online, we immediately saw the hold on our account. When we arrived at the hotel, we were asked for our card. An additional hold was made. The worker at the front desk couldn't understand why the system did this. We were told to ask about it tomorrow. The next day we asked about the holds. We were told that the hotel places a hold for $20/night. However, the numbers didn't add up. Our holds were for more than that. When we extended our stay (Saturday, Jan 3rd), we asked specifically how much would be on hold. We were told that there would only be a $20/day hold for incidentals. However, we saw an additional hold, again. This has been an inconvenience. We knew that we would get the money back. However, it lowered our available funds during our stay here. Water pressure - During the time we stayed in room 607, we experienced issues with the water pressure (shower and sink). We brought this to the attention of the front desk. We were told that it seemed that we were the only people experiencing this. We were told that if it happened again, let them know. It happened again (Saturday, Jan 3), at the most inconvenient time. My wife was in the middle of washing her hair and the water stopped. After calling down to the front desk and not getting an answer twice (this too has been a problem), my wife had to get dressed, wrap her wet hair (shampoo still in) in a towel, and go down to the front desk. The maintenance engineer came up with another woman. They watched the shower for several minutes waiting for the water pressure issue to show. We mentioned that it was intermittent. After several minutes we were told we could change rooms. I checked the water pressure in the next room and the issue occurred again. I took a video of the shower water pressure. I showed the maintenance engineer the video. He responded in a condescending way that I didn't turn the shower on correctly. I realize there is a communication issue with his English. However, it still came across condescending. I kept an open mind and mentioned that he was welcome to come to the room to show me what he felt I did wrong. We arrived and he saw that the shower did exactly what I showed him in the video. He offered no apology for saying that I didn't turn the shower on correctly. He left the room for a part he was going to change on the shower. He re-entered our previous room (where my wife still was). He didn't knock, he just entered. My wife was standing in nothing but a towel. This was an unacceptable, embarrassing and frustrating situation that didn't have to take place. He should have knocked. No excuse. Breakfast - the menu is the same each day. Unfortunately, after speaking to several members of the staff, we were told that this is a standard that the hotel has to follow. One day during breakfast, a woman, began to put away several items before the scheduled time for breakfast to end. My wife had to ask her, several times, for items that she removed too early. Daphne - her disposition hasn't been warm and welcoming. She gave off the impression that asking her for anything was a bother. There have been multiple times that we've called the front desk and didn't get an answer (most notably on the day that my wife had the shower issue, Saturday, Jan 3). We found out that Daphne was the person on duty and supposed to be at the desk. One time I came to the desk for change for the laundry. No one was there. I had to say, "hello, is anyone there?" Daphne comes up, behind me, from the breakfast area and answers roughly asking if she can help me. Again, no smile and not showing that she really wanted to help. Stay at your own risk. read more

This hotel used to be a great alternative to staying in NYC as they claim to offer shuttle service between the hotel and the train station between 7:00 AM and 11:00 PM. On 5/29/15 I called and was told the driver left early so I was stuck with an $11.00 taxi bill. On 3/30/15 I cut my visit short so I would arrive by 10:00 PM which I did I called for the shuttle and was told it was blocked for 2 hours for a wedding . Which the driver should have mentioned when he explained the hours were 7 to 11 don't expect them to provide services promised. read more

I am being a bit nit picky giving this hotel four stars because I really loved staying here for a night. You get hot breakfast in the morning which is amazing as well as free wi fi in your room which wasn't slow. The check in guy even made a joke about the distance we went to stay at the hotel cause I live in Staten Island. The reason it loses a star is that the bed wasn't that great for a king. I've slept in worse beds but I was expecting more from the bed. Other than my own expectations I love staying at this place and recommend it for sure. read more

This is my second time at this hotel. Company I work for has this listed as a favored hotel. But this stay is awful. The room smells not right, bed is not comfortable. They must be midway through redoing the rooms because the last room I had was much nicer and clean smelling. Disappointing. This has to be the worst hotel in the world. After traveling and working all day, leaving your room at 7am in the morning, an it is now 5pm in the evening. The last thing you want to find is, the beds haven't been made, trash still in the trash cans, no towels. The way we left the room at 7am this morning is the way we found it at 5pm in the evening. When you asking to have the room serviced, they looked at me like we had five eyes. With a remark "what do you want me to do". Me with the five eyes said, "I want the room cleaned", you've had all day to service the room. All I've heard is, "I'm sorry". When you've worked for the past 10 hours and want to come back to your hotel to relax, the last thing you want to hear is "SORRY". read more

Called and made a reservation for a suite with a pull out sofa on Wednesday. Gave a credit card over the phone. Told them that we would be coming in late- around 11PM and to hold the room- no problem! Friday night we showed up at that late hour to find that they put us in a small room with 2 full sized (crappy mattresses) beds and NO pull out. IMMEDIATELY called the front desk to make the change and we all stood so not to disturb the room. Told she will have to call me right back. 10 minutes later when my legs are giving out, I called the desk again. She will still have to check and call me back-what's the mystery? The heck with the linens, sit on the beds kids. I'm finally told that's the only room for us and we can't have a roll away bed. A little more prodding and she brings a roll away up. In the morning, the bill's under the door, we scoop it up and get on the road home. Once home- see that they charged us for the larger room which we did not get. A few phone calls and they said that they would credit us back. Still waiting. Dive-y area, weak bouncy mattresses, stinky hallways (someone was cooking with curry - not the staffs fault-we were the only non Indians on the floor). Could tolerate some of that but not all at once and not for more money than I should have been charged. Beware, front desk staff doesn't know what rooms are available and which aren't. I recently stayed here they only had double beds available when I know there were king beds available because I called prior to my visit that day and the doors always have a problem opening with the assigned cards to the point they had to come to the room and plug something in the door to open it this happened at least 3-4 times and frankly I would never stay here again especially at 175$ a night with this type of service I wouldn't recommend it but give it a shot maybe you will get better service read more

Bed Bugs! Hotel has major bed bug problem that has caused me to bring them home, and we had to go to the doctor in which he explained that we were bitten by bed bugs. I would not advise anyone to stay at a hotel that is not clean. Don't stay if you don't want to bring them to your home. read more
