Nice, updated, clean, and modern hotel. It was very comfortable and had a nice lobby and free breakfast. The lobby has a big sitting area and the outside had plenty of seating and a fire table which was nice to use. Our kids used the pool too which was adequate. It was a very narrow small space for pool and lounging. There is another hotel being built right next to the hotel. I don't knows why it has to be so close! We used valet for parking and they were very prompt in getting our car. I gave them a tip each time they got my car. The lobby has ice water and coffee available through out the day and some beer and wine. I think it is one pour a day for the beer- free. The hotel is next to dinning options and night life. I'm not sure what goes on in riverside but there seems to be quite a few people here. The downtown needs some work- I think they re revitalizing it. Anyways hotel was fine and I would stay here again. Also you have to ask for housekeeping! Our room was never made up because they neglected to tell me. But it was ok for our short stay. And the valet and self parking was $29 so that is why I give it 4 stars. read more

I have never had such a terrible experience in all my years of travelling. The front desk called us liars, we had no housekeeping, no shampoo or soap for four days. My daughter left her favourite hoody on the bed and we knew where it was. We called after checkout realizing it was on the bed and they did nothing to help us. I had a confirmed reservation from corporate for two connecting rooms. This is important because we have a special needs son, and we need to be able to keep an eye on him. When I attempted to check in at 3:00 pm, I was told one room was on the 5th floor, and the other was on the 6th floor! The front desk employee said she saw the connecting room request in the reservation and said she would fix it, but that the connecting room was not clean and that I could check into it later. When I returned at 7:00 pm, a different front desk person again told me my two rooms were on the 5th and 6th floors! He said there were no connecting rooms available. I had to accept a single room with two queens. He "graciously" told me he wouldn't charge me for the room I couldn't occupy. The second major issue is that the room we did have was not cleaned well. There were M&M's on the floor when we first arrived. The shower had grime or perhaps black mold growing in two places. The final issue came on the evening of our second day. When we returned to the room at 7:00 pm, we realized we didn't receive any maid service for the room! On my way downstairs to get fresh towels, I met another guest on the floor who complained that he had been there four days and had no maid service the entire time! read more

I booked my wife and I a stay at the Hampton Inn Riverside Downtown for our 9 year anniversary. We had an emergency at home, so we did not arrive at the property until 11:57pm or so. I called the property earlier and informed them we would be late, they told me when I came to the door to press the bell and someone would come help. When we arrived to the property, a young African American gentelmen was in the valet area and was very helpful, very kind, that would be the end of the great customer service on this trip. The African American woman that checked us in (very late Friday night March 29th) was clearly not having a good night. She asked for my ID and card which I provided and told me the total due was $371 which was quoted on the Hotels.com reservation. What was not explained to me and I found out later, is that I was charged $571 (I'm assuming a $200 security deposit hold or something), which was never communicated. I was then given a map of where to go park. Parking was $23.00 per day, and your staff went ahead and charged me for 3 days instead of only the two we would use (we parked after midnight which is technically Saturday, and checked out Sunday morning). We ended up having to park in a parking garage in downtown Riverside CA above the "Food Lab". Downtown Riverside is not exactly a romantic stroll for an anniversary celebration these days. The parking garage was at least a half mile from the property, so please tell me why I'm paying for parking at all at this point? The rate should at least be reduced! I do want to say that the room was very comfortable, everything worked, and everything was clean, so that is appreciated, but the property smelled like marijuana more and more each day, especially in the elevators and in the entrance to the lobby. I honestly think you should consider not advertising free breakfast as it was disgusting and cold. I was only looking for a snack and a coffee (coffee was good), but the banana was soggy, the eggs were hard as a rock, and it just looked very run down and unappealing. Bottom line is that I would like to request the following: 1. Most importantly, I want/need my $200.00 back that I was never quoted nor notified would come out of my account. It is almost Wednesday now and I have yet to receive it, please provide me with an update on when I will receive these funds back. 2. I would like at least a partial refund back on the parking charges. To me, that whole situation is a really bad look on this establishments behalf and if I had known parking would have been set-up the way it was, I would have looked for a different property to stay at. read more

My first time here and I can say overall great experience, but Its pricy and they charge for everything. I was able to try their breakfast and it was good. They had boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, cheese on the side, omletes, potatoes, sasauge, stuff to make waffles, regular or blueberry, toast, beagles, they even have oatmeal which was freakn cool. Juice, milk and of course cereal. The room was very clean and beds were super comfy. Bathroom was nice and just beautiful. The towels well I ended up using one and there were stains that looked like blood. Only disappointment. The parking well everytime you leave u have to scan ur room key and then they charge you. We brought 2 cars so u can imagine how expensive it was. Yes we should of only brought 1 but it is what it is!!! read more

They don't have our room ready and are giving no promises to how long it will take to get it ready. They're not offering any discounts on the room charge for the unavailable/late room, and won't even offer an extend checkout. Chose this hotel because it was close to a venue we were going, the price was not bad and Trip Advisor gave it 7 out 10. We arrived there was plenty of parking, the lobby was clean and the staff welcoming. Check in was smooth, quick and simple. Our room was a 2 queen bed room and it was very clean, smelled nice and everything worked, especially the hot water it got hot fast which was a heart thing for my shower! They have a nice heated pool and fenced sitting area near the pool. The room was quiet, on the second floor and I fell asleep quickly, but the wife heard noise from above all night. The breakfast was great, scrambled eggs, frittatas, sausage and three types of waffle batter! They also had cereal bread for toast, milk and juice. Check out was just as easy as the check in and we were on our way. We were very surprised that this hotel in downtown was such a nice place, and we would definitely stay there again. And I almost forgot, the elevators we epic! Good size, hit the button for the second floor and we waited....and waited. The door opened and we truly thought that we never moved! My boyfriend and I stayed here last weekend and had a wonderful time. Unfortunately, upon return home, we found that we had a stow away. At first I freaked out thinking it was a bed bug, but did a Google search on it, and it was actually a varied carpet beetle that had gotten into our belongings. I attempted to contact a manager at the hotel and ended up having to leave a voicemail, which still has not been returned three days later. My husband and I stayed here for a night just to enjoy downtown. We live in Fontana and just wanted a change of scenery for a night(sometimes you just deserve it!)and we didn't feel like driving out anywhere hours away(especially on 4th of July weekend) Well, I absolutely LOVED the hotel! This is truly a hidden gem in Downtown Riverside. Your in the mix of things as far as location, walking distance to all the food and bar spots which the wife an i enjoyed. Beats driving to downtown LA and dealing with all the headaches that comes with that. As far as the room its self, no complaints just praises. VETERANS BEWARE. VETERANS BEWARE. IF YOU HAVE A DIABILITY NOT THE PLACE TO STAY. I would write a review that would be less stars, but this site does not allow for less than one star. This hotel is anti disable veteran or any handicap for that matter. The hotel refused to accommodate for handicap parking to start with and advised me to park in another lot and walk back. Option two was to give the keys to a valet that continually did burn outs in peoples vehicles. After being harassed every time I returned I thought that it was resolve but was not as was told again i need to park elsewhere. Mind you there were 6 spot in front of the hotel that they parked cars in that were not handicap even though I was advised that they cannot park cars there. In addition to this the front desk sent maintenance to my room who enter with the do not disturb sign on the door and sprayed not only my room with a glade type of chemical they also went through my stuff. Upon going to the front desk the same maintenance person tells me after asking for another room that he can come up pack my stuff to escort me out of the hotel. He continued to say you can leave you have been complaining you can leave. It is a great way to help those who serve that are at a family event to support their child. read more

The hotel room was very comfortable. Breakfast was good. Location was great. Coffee and tea in the lobby was a nice feature! The shower lacked water pressure. I know its a drought but there are better water-saving shower heads. The shampoo was one tiny bottle for 3 guests. But here is why 3 stars: Hampton Inn did not provide a Do Not Disturb for the door. We were first disturbed at 8:45 a.m. by housekeeping knocking. We had a one-night stay and intended to stay until 12, the checkout time. No one should knock on your door on the day of checkout unless the front desk tells them you left and checked out! So that was mistake number one. Then they returned at 11 a.m. I answered "Yes?!" through the door. They asked when we were leaving through the door. I said 12:00. No apology or "thank you." At 11:57 a.m. they knocked AGAIN. I said "We are still here!" as I was rushing and gathering our last few items (traveling with a family of three). The lady yelled through the door "No late checkouts!!!" At this point I shouted back this was terrible service. I picked up the tip I had planned to leave for housekeeping from the envelope on the dresser and kept it. And I checked out by 12. I have stayed in a lot of hotels in my life, and this has never happened to me. I have checked out of hotels 5 or 10 minutes late and this has never happened. 3 disturbances in one morning, with housekeeping acting like the exit police was completely unacceptable, especially for the price we paid. This was not a $150/night cheap motel. I paid over $250 for one night in Riverside, and should not be treated like I am breaking the rules for staying in the room I paid for until checkout at noon, whether it is 8:45 a.m., 11 a.m., or 11:57 (or even 12:05!). Worst stay in a Hampton ever, for this reason. I left angry and aggravated after what should have been a pleasant stay. A hotel stay includes the evening and having a relaxing morning if that is part of your travel plan. Management: Get "Do Not Disturb" signs for doors! Inform your staff by phone or radios when guests have checked out like a normal hotel. And do not try to clean a room on a one-night stay until the guests have departed, and of course train your staff not to loudly tell the guests they are going to be late and need to leave. We will be trying a different hotel on our next trip to Riverside. read more

However upon arrival to my room I noticed crumbs on the floor and when I went to put my items in fridge I see all kinds of leftover food etc. so unacceptable especially during these times! This is my second time coming to this hotel and any time I need to get a room for the night I will always choose Hampton Inn. Immediately coming in valet greeted, due to construction at the hotel the valet was accommodating with a temporary park for check in. Came in the lobby and was greeted by Joey and Lorraine at the front desk. Check in was less than 5 minutes so it was very quick to get to my room. As I was coming up to my room i was greeted by Lisa the house keeper, she was so sweet to help me get to my room because it was a lot of turns and she finished off letting me know if there was anything i needed to let her know. I really appreciate the amazing customer service because i feel like you only get it at check in desk at most hotels; the great customer service continued till i got to my room. Please keep doing what you're doing DTR location because you truly are standing out from the rest. read more

Although check in was a bit of a hassle this property overall was great! The hotel itself is not far from the main attractions that downtown riverside has to offer. This hotel is bullshit. The pool was cold. The front desk was never upfront with their honest assessment whether the pool was going to be heated. They rather lied for 2 hours. After 2 hours they came clean and admitted the heating g of the pool was "broken". Plus, they claimed that the padding for the chairs outside were not available. Ample parking ($17 per night) in a safe, well-lit, secure and viewable lot. Great selection of snacks and sundries in the mini-market located behind and to the right of the front desk. Excellent selection as it pertains to continental breakfast. Free and open access to Business Center. Excellent value. Wouldn't change a thing. My family will return!! Parked our truck & trailer in their fenced in parking lot. They had a security guard earlier in the lot. When we came out in the morning our truck's window was busted out. All of our luggage was gone as we only brought up our over night case. The management could care less. We asked for some cardboard & tape so we could secure our window for the ride home. The guy we asked was agitated & snipped at us to wait. We came back in as he never came out with the cardboard. Found him sitting down eating. He threw the F-bomb at us & came back out with the cardboard. Nobody from the hotel came out to look at the damage. They wouldn't even comp our room for the night. Customer service at its low. I was in town for an Event . This was the official hotel. Arrived on Friday evening and was forced to use the valet Parking as there is no hotel parking at this time due to construction Parked my car, walked inside and did the check-in process took the elevator to my room so far uneventful but things go downhill from there I use the hotel phone to call downstairs downstairs to ask for a wake up call unfortunately the phone just rang and rang and then hit the button that said wake up call again it just rang and rang so I was forced to use my cell phone to call downstairs and ask for 6 AM. Wake up call At the same time, I plugged my phone into the USB port located by the bed Saturday morning I wake up no morning wake up call and my phone is dead. I guess the charging port in the wall doesn't work so my phone was unable to give me my back up. Wake up call I went downstairs and complained and I asked for a manager. I was told there are no weekend managers. They've all gone home for the weekend later I learned that wasn't true. I got my car from the valet and headed off to the event. I returned Saturday evening, walked into my room to find my dirty towels on the floor and my bed unmade I went down stairs to complain I got the same lady that checked me in. She told me that if I weren't clean towels and my bed made I have to request those services 24 hours in advance a little tough since I wasn't there 24 hours in advance and I didn't know this since nobody told me, and there were no notices in my room. I also asked if the USB plug had been fixed and if the phone had been replaced she said no, but she would send Maintance up with a new phone that never happened woke up Sunday morning went downstairs and got another surprise. The lady working in the desk is the night time manager so I guess I was too specific when I asked for weekend manager I should've requested the nighttime manager. I explained all my issues to her and she said that I should speak with the general manager , and that he would be in on Monday I had I had text the valet asking for my vehicle to be brought around. That was about 15 to 20 minutes ago when I came downstairs there were two valets and they were sitting talking with each other. I had to request my car again both valet left to the parking lot one valet came back with someone else's car, I was waiting and waiting for the valet to return with mine about 10 minutes later he did I was in a hurry now so I didn't check my vehicle. I wish I had as I exited the parking lot. I noticed my windshield was cracked wasn't cracked the night before, but because I left the premises without reporting it, I don't think they're gonna do anything about it this morning I emailed the general manager. I also called him got his voicemail. I let him know about the email and that I needed assistance getting the valet parking peoples information so that I could contact them regarding the broken windshield. No response to the email no response to the voicemail , I should not expect anything better from this company this place is a joke. I stayed Friday and Saturday night and I couldn't get any sleep due to the very thin walls. The kids running through the hallways and their security doing nothing about it. They charge a premium rate and they charge a premium rate to park your car they don't deliver , I will not be returning to this place and I will be riding their corporate headquarters a letter for a general manager, not to return a phone call or an email especially since they were made aware of this issues Saturday Sunday and then again on Monday, terrible management terrible customer service read more

I came here on a recommendation from Expedia! It was very nice, extremely clean, beautiful decor from Riverside's antique picture collection, great breakfast buffet and very secured! I seen a lot of families using the pool and barbecue area! Plenty of seating with shading outside. I was surprised how they have the area secured from the homeless people and rift raft in the downtown area. There is always someone at the front counter at all times if you have any questions or concerns. The parking lot is gated and secured. It requires a key card to get in and out. There's plenty of space to park no matter what time you return back to the hotel. The workout room and restrooms downstairs have plenty of space for people who want to get a early morning workout before breakfast . The staff was very pleasant and professional! I give this hidden secret in Riverside the highest recommendation to those wanting to get away or anyone staying here from out of town. Spent one night at this hotel, only because we were unable to find another hotel that had availability. That being said, we have never had any issue with this hotel chain. We would not stay here again. There was a hockey team staying there for a tournament. We are a baseball family, so we understand when several teams stay in one hotel it can get crazy..but this experience was absolutely rude. Children were running up and down the hallway, also playing hockey in the hallway, hitting doors with their hockey ball. As if that wasn't bad enough, the lounge area was so small that their entire team took the entire area occupying the space to even get onto the elevator. That's fine,we said excuse me, somehow got past them. The thing that made me shake my head was watching the front staff just watch and doing nothing about making sure flow of traffic could get around this group. Keep in mind, there was no point in saying anything about this chaos, or the issues we were having since they were well aware of what was transpiring in front of them. On another note, the couple who were apparently trying to make a baby was clearly heard through the thin walls. It was like having free adult audio.. so I guess that was a plus. No jealousy there, we used that as our muse in the morning. The shades had 2 hugh rips in them..the white towels had several brown stains on them. But the air conditioning was on point. I was there for a week due to an emergency last year I went there last night to try to book a room and I noticed the parking is all different and it's valet I don't let anyone drive my car I have a brand new car and I just don't let anybody drive it the last time I was there I was there for a week with my dogs my dogs were very clean now it's so expensive they went up on everything but and I remember seeing a lot of business people there but you know a lot of people are not going to allow just anyone Drive their car I don't do that late if I can't park it myself I don't want to be bothered I'll just go somewhere else I was also reading a review where the valet loss A lady's car keys so you don't know how they're going to drive your car if they're going to Dent it where is the car parked is there security watching that car I rather go to the hotel across the street where I can go in and out of the hotel to my car as freely as possible who wants to go to a hotel and then you have to have valet to get your car back again that's just ridiculous they were a good hotel last year but unfortunately not anymore especially with the valet I cannot do the valet and I see they're going to lose a lot of business because of that read more

We needed a last minute room for one night after getting a room elsewhere that was a total dump. This place was a dream compared to that. The staff were very friendly, the hotel was quiet and clean. Our room even had a safety seal from after it was cleaned and sanitized, the black out curtains were amazing, the beds were very comfortable and the AC worked very well. Being the the heart of downtown Riverside I wasn't expecting anything too spectacular but this was definitely one of the best hotels I've been to and would recommend it. read more

Please stay elsewhere, and definitely not here. I stayed at this hotel *specifically* because my psychology conference had deals with this hotel on their website. I was very disappointed with the service here and the way I was treated. I arrived before check-in, around 11:30 AM, and wasn't even greeted when I walked in. The first thing out of the receptionist's mouth was "check-in is at 3, but we might have clean rooms at 2". No hello, no how are you. I have stayed at other Hilton hotels and they allow you to check-in early for a fee. This one didn't even give me the option. Mind you I had just driven 7 hours from the Bay Area to riverside. They tell me to come back at 2 and so I do. I had to kill time and drive around until then. When I arrive at 2, I tell them I would like to check-in. No hello again, no greeting. They say the rooms aren't ready yet. So I wait until 3. Finally at 3 my room was ready (at this point there are like 5 others waiting to check-in as well) and I was so happy to go rest. Now as for the room, the bathroom has no fan. No ventilation whatsoever. The room door was dripping in humidity because of this. The door to the bathroom also is one of those sliding closet doors, so there is no sound privacy in the bathroom. If you're sharing a room with someone you're not very close to, they will hear everything you do in there. Overall I was very upset and won't stay here ever again. read more
