Extremely disappointing experience. I booked this Marriott MONTHS in advance for a trip with my partner, and my original receipt showed the cost at approximately $450. When I arrived, I was suddenly hit with additional fees that brought the price up to around $680. That is roughly a $230 increase from what was shown on my original receipt. These were not charges I was expecting when I made the reservation, and had the true cost been clearly disclosed from the beginning, I would have made different arrangements. Even worse was the way the situation was handled at the front desk. When I questioned the charges, the employee initially told me the total was around $580. Then, somehow, the amount changed AGAIN and I was told it was approximately $680. How does the price of an existing reservation change by another $100 while I am standing at the front desk trying to get an explanation? Instead of showing any real concern or making an effort to find a solution, the front desk employee seemed completely uninterested in helping. I was essentially left with the choice of accepting a price more than $200 higher than what my original receipt showed or changing plans that had been arranged months beforehand. Ultimately, I had to cancel the second day of our reservation and rearrange my partner's and my trip at the last minute because of this. I understand taxes and legitimate hotel fees exist. What I do NOT find acceptable is booking a hotel for approximately $450, having a receipt showing that amount, and then arriving to find out that the actual amount being requested is approximately $680. A $230 difference isn't a small inconvenience. It's a significant increase, and guests deserve to know the true cost of their stay BEFORE they make their plans and arrive at the hotel. Between the unexpected fees, the price changing from roughly $580 to $680 while I was trying to get answers, and the complete lack of effort from the front desk to resolve the situation, this experience was unacceptable. What was supposed to be an enjoyable trip with my partner turned into us scrambling to change our plans because the price we were being asked to pay did not match what was originally provided to us. I would strongly recommend that anyone considering staying here carefully review every charge and get the full price in writing before arriving. Based on my experience, I would not trust the price shown at booking to necessarily be the price you are ultimately asked to pay. read more

I had to attend a training in Riverside and my job booked me at the Courtyard Marriott. I arrived on a Sunday afternoon and parking was plentiful. However, the hotel sits next to another hotel and there is a large empty lot between them with an unkept lawn. It definitely did not look safe in the evening. On the other hand, inside was nice and the lobby had plenty of seating and TVs. Julia at the front desk was nice and friendly. She answered all of my questions about parking and always greeted me each day. I stayed in a king bedroom that was clean and had a nice setup. I liked the move able dining tray that I used while eating in the room. Before checking out, I ordered a breakfast burrito from their café, and it was good. My only con is the homeless problem. On two separate occasions, there was a homeless person sitting or sleeping a foot from the entrance. And on a different day, two of my co-workers went to the pool but it was short lived. They got out of the pool because a homeless person entered (how did they get on the property? Hopped the fence?) and jumped in the jacuzzi and started to take a bath with soap they brought. Outside of those experiences, it was a nice stay as the staff was friendly, elevators were quick, and the room was clean. I would stay again if my job was paying for it. read more

I recently stayed at this property for an entire month, by the end of my stay, I can truly say the staff and management at this property care and take care of their guests. I worked in hotels for 12 years and while this hotel isn't a 5 star resort, they sure do make you feel like it is. They will do whatever it takes to make your stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. Some of the best customer service I've ever experienced. Also the bistro has amazing food. I was pleasantly surprised. The rooms were clean and well kept up. Engineering team takes care of their property. Also, the pool space is very relaxing, clean, and the pool is heated too. 10/10 recommendation. Only downfall: Sunday-Tuesday, the lady who works overnights is difficult to find and if you do find her, she has a terrible attitude. (Literally the only one at the hotel) Many of times our guests with our group would be waiting and waiting for her to come out of the back office and assist them. She would give them inaccurate information at times. Very frustrating to deal with when you are in house with a large group. read more

Clean and the location is great. Sheets could use a little softening but beds are comfy. The people make the difference for the 5 Stars. Myca was a doll! I've stayed here so far for about two weeks for work and have had had plenty of pleasant experiences with Ana from the front reception, as well as the rest of the reception team. I think Ana has been more memorable for me because she helped me with checking in the first time I stayed as well as the second time when there was an issue with my booking. She was extremely helpful and went above and beyond to facilitate my booking in collaboration with my employer and her Manager. I have so far stayed on both the 5th floor and the 3rd floor and haven't met the housekeeping team personally, but they have been very respectful with my things, always organizing the room, emptying out the trash and making the bed. I greatly appreciate coming back to my room after a long work day to a neatly made bed and clean and organized room. Staying somewhere new for work can be tough, but the clean rooms that I have been able to stay in have really made me feel comfortable during my stay. I have also enjoyed the Bistro located in the lobby. I've been able to enjoy the breakfast, lunch and dinner and let me tell you, the food is delicious. For sometimes having one person or two people on the front end, the strong ladies that work and serve the visitors are efficient and attentive. I really enjoyed the burger with fries, don't skip on those garnished fries they are the best. As far as the homelessness in Riverside, if your familiar with the area, they do have a large community of people that are homeless, as do many other cities, I would know, Downtown San Diego also has this issue. But, all things considered, I've noticed that some times security makes their rounds around the lobby, pool, and parking. With such an amazing team they might benefit from potentially investing in cleaning the carpets in the hallways and steam cleaning the couches in the rooms. Some things require a little more of a deep clean which I doubt the housekeeping team can tend to with the many rooms that they clean during the day. read more

We stayed there only one night since we were dropping my daughter off to college, and one night was enough to never coming back to this place. Service was horrible: 1. Checking was supposed to be at 3:00pm. We arrived at 6:00pm and the room was not ready. We had to wait one more hour, until 7:00pm to get our keys. 2. The coffee maker on the room still had a dirty filter from previous visitors. 3. The room was a bit dusty, like it hadn't been cleaned in a while. 4. We found hair in the bathtub. 5. There were not towels in the pool area. 6. We paid for a breakfast included stay and didn't want to validated. 7. When we finally got our voucher for breakfast, the menu was very limited and even when I chose an item from the "available" list, it was not available either. read more

Reviewing the Bistro specifically. The food was excellent. I ordered buffalo chicken sandwich. I'm not a fan of coleslaw, so I opted out. Chicken was fresh and crispy with a very tasty sauce. We also had a grilled cheese sandwich, which was quite good, I could tell they used some quality cheeses. I can't remember the last time I had a margarita as good as the strawberry/mango one here. Had a very nice conversation with a guy young man named Donoven. I would definitely recommend stopping into the bistro or the bar if you're around the DTR area. read more

I just stayed overnight and didnt really know what to expect..... Overall, I was pretty much blown away. I was checked in by Mel - who might be the nicest person on the planet. I was having kind of a crappy day and she was super pleasant, helpful, friendly, kind, and set the stage for a terrific stay. She later helped me with a forgotten item that I wanted but didnt really absolutely need. The bistro as also super solid - nice crew working there..... I also commented on my surprise on how great this hotel was to a couple of people in the elevator who completely agreed with me. My only criticism was the heater in my room was a bit loud but I am hypersensitive to noise (and always wear earplugs at hotels anyway) so most might not care.... If you stay here I hope you get Mel to greet you - your day will suddenly get better! read more

I appreciate how clean and quite it is. I don't like that I have to share a room but beggers can't be choosers. They have a nice mounted TV with TV stations. They have a fridge and a microwave. Not the worst hotel experience, but certainly the worst Courtyard experience I have ever had. [Price]: I originally booked 4 days 3 nights for approximately $460, but the price did NOT include $12 daily parking so I had to extra $36 for 3-day parking. The hotel charged the new total 3 days after my check-out date. [Parking]: $12 daily onsite parking and guests need to put a parking permit on the dashboard. [Pros] * Convenient location: Just two blocks away from the main UC Riverside campus with multiple grocery stores/pharmacy locating within a block away from the hotel (Food4Less, Grocery Outlet, and Walgreens Pharmacy). * Bathroom: Strong water pressure and they used 39° North Body Wash and Conditioner ... except they had no shampoo. * Fitness room: Only one treadmill, one elliptical, and one barbell bench. * Bar (The Bistro): Has a mini hotel bar at the lobby. * Free Wi-Fi: Free Wi-Fi for guests with no issues. [Cons]: * Key card: Initially my hotel key card worked when I checked in, but few hours later my hotel key card wasn't working. Luckily the front desk agent was able to get a technician and unlocked the door within 30 minutes. Lastly mobile key card via Marriott Bonvoy did not work most of the time. * Power outlet: The power outlet at the sink was not working and I had to use a different power outlet in order to use hair dryer. * ID check: This hotel has a sign stating ID check after 9 PM and I even saw a police officer staying at the lobby after 9 PM. One time I saw a questionable person sitting in the smoking area and the staff asked the person to leave the premise. * Malfunction computer: The computer at the lobby was not working with a "system fan failure" screen. * No stairs: Stairs are only used for emergency exits only (alarm will sound when opening doors) so I had to take elevators despite staying on the 2nd floor. * No complimentary breakfast: The Bistro offers drinks from Starbucks ... but no freebies. [Conclusion]: Sub-par experience mostly due to missing amenity and hidden cost (broken outlet, no shampoo, malfunction key card sensor, unexpected $12 per day parking charge). read more

I'm a Marriott member and I needed a 5 days in a pinch and decided to get it through Hotels.com. I didn't need the last day, and Marriott was. I've enough to cut the reservation short allowing Hotels.com to reimburse me. The parking for convoy members right by the doors front and back is great. Just may need more of them. The staff at every instance was excellent. The room was perfect. And the noise level was very acceptable for someone working the night shift. Love this place. read more

He went above and beyond to welcome us and make sure we got what we needed. We stayed her with a group from our softball team, so there were a lot of us.
