I have been to Hampton Salon twice now and have had Arthur work on my hair both times. I had a balayage that wasn't done correctly and he was able to listen to my concerns and execute everything I explained to him! The second time I went back, it was a few months later and the color had faded - I didn't come in with a specific request, I just gave him a general direction that I wanted to go darker for winter. I came to see Arthur after doing a lot of research for who does the best blondes in Newport Beach. My hair had been ruined...over processed and ugly brassy tones and breakage throughout. After I got my haircut I wondered why it was such a mess. Was it that I'm male and she doesn't cut many mens hair? Or was it because she was more interested in Gossiping with her co-worker about some gentleman they had both met at a local bar? Or maybe it was because it was a Saturday, and beautiful outside, and she just couldn't pay attention to what she was doing. Was it an off day for her? Or was it because I was a new customer? Ok, I get the new customer,she doesn't know my hair so it might come out a little funky. No problem. But she should at least be able to pull off some uniformity with the back and sides. Maybe my head is messed up and lopsided. Fine, but that doesn't mean you should cut my hair and leave the left sideburn at 1/2 and inch and the other at 3/4. Really sista' that is noticeable. To make matters worse, you thought you would fix it by allowing the hair above my right ear to touch it, but on the left side neatly trimmed above it. No, I'm not a Frankenstein, but thanks for that look. Even more puzzling was that you left the hair in the back longer at that bottom than at the top. I'm not 100% certain, but I'm fairly sure I'm not Appalachian. So why were you trying to give me some Mullet action in back? Do you find that humorous? I really wanted to like my hair, and thought....maybe it will get better a few days later...or after a week. But it didn't and actually got worse. AWESOME!!! I look even more Trailer than I did a few weeks ago. Maybe I could go to the IE and hang out there at the Monster Truck Rally. At any rate, I won't be going back, which is sad because it's convenient for work. I'm just too scared to try them again, and possibly get an even worse haircut. I would suggest (Yes for the first time ever) you get a haircut at one of those chain stores instead. At least there you get what you expect. Hampton Salon = Super Cuts @ Double the Price!! I've come to realize there are certain things in a girl's life that you must splurge on. When it comes to your skin and hair, you want to make sure you get the best quality service or products. After a string of bad hair cuts and bad hair colors, I decided I needed to do some research. I went to Lori Vu based on a few friends' advice (I also decided to go this route since they always had amazing hair) and I AM so glad I did! I've gotten the Brazilian blow out from her twice and my hair has never looked so amazing. She takes the time to make sure the treatment is done properly. The treatment has lasted me for months, longer than the treatment is advertised for. She's very honest and will tell you if she believes the treatment will be damaging, or the color not matching skin tone ,etc. Recently, I've decided to go back to my natural hair color and she was very helpful in describing the process and how to do it with the least amount of damage. I highly recommend her if you are looking into smoothing treatments (Brazilian, keratin, etc), body waves, or coloring. She takes extreme pride in her work and it shows. As for the salon itself, it was a little hard to find in the beginning but once you find it, it's a little gem. Inside is very modern and trendy. The girls at the front desk have always been friendly which is a plus, I cannot stand the places where they feel like they're doing you a favor. I went to my 1st visit to Hampton Hair Salon based on someone I just saw at a store and liiked their haircolor. They gave me her stylist name. Don't do that ...trust me. My stylist was a man ( older ) late 50 or 60 years. He had his young assistant apply my base color, wash, etc. She was sweet and energenic. He barely spoke to me, it was like pulling teeth getting a conversation going. I told him I need some multi colors pulled through my hair to create a more natural affect...also layering to lift the hair as it looks flat. He agreed.......he put several colors in my extremely blonde to my medium length hair. I allowed him to cut about and 1/2 inch or so but told him I do not want a " bob " look. Well it came out about 1 inch shorter on one side than the other. He never cut layers at all mostly he used thinning sheers. The shape is like a lamp shade or maybe Cleopatra look with bangs and all. I had bangs but he cut them thicker. The color came out ok but is rather dull looking no blonde highlighting just shades of dark blondes, light browns ...not attractive at all. I can't even tease it to get any lift at the top or back. Looks aging like old women get. The bottom of the hair is cut blunt and wants to flip up not under. Are you sitting down? I was charged for this assult on my hair.... $285.Worse cut and color ever... not going back but will try to cut it myself and add my own highlights to this rather brownish "Buster Brown" haircut! To add injury to insult, you have to park in a parking structure and Hampton Salon will validate only for two hours and since I spent 3 hrs there on a Wednesday morning I have to fork out an additional $3 and 75 cent. Oh my goodness, I had to swing by Yelp and write a review for the amazing job Jaime F. did on my hair. Wow. My sister (who is verrry picky with her hair) had to gone to Jaime a while back and raved about her and so I knew she had to be something special...and she was! I went in there a little nervous about trying someone new. I had a bad color a while back which left some pieces of my hair very fried and to that day, was still so self conscious of my hair. Jaime not only had a deep compassion for how traumatic that whole experience was, but also, ended up trimming and blending those ends and the rest of my hair to perfection, giving me so much more confidence back. I literally thought I would be stuck with those pieces of my hair for years! I left there feeling like I had an entirely new head of hair and it felt SO healthy. Jaime's very presence gives you such a peace and I literally knew I could trust her within moments. She is one of those people who has a heart of gold and you literally feel as if she is your best friend and you have known her for years. Lindsey Carter is absolutely AMAZING at what she does. I'm naturally very dark brown and I was searching google for the best blonde OC hairstylist. I came across Hampton Salon and they booked me with Lindsey. From previous "hairstylist" I have received many chemical cuts and very dry brittle hair. Lindsey assured me this would be fixed but it would definitely be a process. After the 1st visit with Lindsey I felt VERY comfortable and was VERY happy with my results. I felt that she truly cared about her profession and it wasn't just some paycheck at the end of the week. I have been going to her since June and I see her every 8 weeks, since she sees so many people within the 2 months I figure she wouldn't remember me too well, but she picks up right where we left off! :) ALSO just after 3 visits and the products she has recommend my hair is healthier than ever! Most hairstylists have 3 or 4 haircuts in their playbook, a short cut, medium, long and one for men. Not Raul. Your cut is individualized for you. He listens to his clients, does a real consultation before starting to work. No, I'm not related to him, I am simply an amazingly pleased client. Color: I went to Raul in need of some major color correction due to some very shoddy work at another salon. I've been going to see Jamie Fetui at Hampton's for the last few years, and recently I drastically changed my Black hair to light caramel color. And if you know hair you can imagine how hard that is to do. BUT Jamie had no problem coloring my hair, cutting my hair and even styling my, when you add natural curls to the mix on top of it. I wouldn't go to anyone else but Jamie. She is FANTASTIC... I highly recommend her!!!! She is so friendly and out going you will have no problem telling her how you want your hair and she will understand you completely and ask questions to make sure she has it right on what you want. I was very dissatisfied with her last coloring she did and when I went to her to see how much she wanted to charge me for a correction (as it was not at all what I requested, I asked for ombre in 2 shades darker than existing color), I was appalled at the fact that she wanted another $120.00 to correct a horrible job done. She is so easy to talk to when explaining what I want and always puts me at ease when I can't explain something how a hairdresser would. She NEVER makes me feel silly or awkward about that. When she's doing my hair, I can tell she's a perfectionist because she pays such attention to detail and really cares about her work.
