My fiance and I have ordered fish sandwiches from Hampton's twice and both times have been very satisfied. They really know how to season the fish and build that sandwich. The first sandwich was fried Catfish and I have never liked catfish, but ate every bit of that sandwich!! Fries are average, but their coleslaw is to die for (in my taste). It's creamy and flavorful. We love their coleslaw so much we order it by the pint to eat with our home cooked meals! :) You also can't beat the prices! We pay under $20 for two fish sandwiches with fries and slaw. We will definitely be back! Maybe try the chicken next time, since that is what they are known for. Note: they are a CASH ONLY restaurant! read more

This is some straight-up, no-frills, solid, country-fied, diner food. They have all of the basics -- biscuits and gravy in the am, fried chicken at lunch. The menu is simple and what they have, or at least what we had of it, was done well. Service with a smile from ladies whom the phrase "nice as pie" was coined for. My wife and I went in for the first time last Sunday and bought breakfast. I ordered a sausage omelet with home fries and toast, my wife ordered 2 eggs over medium with home fries and biscuit. I asked for my omelet to be well done, home fries well done after asking if they were fried or on the grill ( was told on the grill). They were not busy at all about 930am, after a couple of minutes the food came right out. The eggs were bearly luke warm, the sausage had no temperature. The home fries were cold... We have gone here twice and have had to get up and walk out before food arrived twice! We won't be back for a third attempt. The first time we went my husband ordered chicken livers and it was about 15 minutes when the server came back to say they were out of chicken livers! They took that long to realize that. So my husband proceeded to order something else. We sat there and waited and waited and other customers were getting orders. After about another 20 minutes and no food we just got up and left. Another customer in there mentioned that it best to call ahead and place order because it does a while sometimes. Well fast forward about another month and we give it another try because we really wanted to try the fried chicken. I called ahead about 15 minutes before we arrived and placed the order. We get there and not one of the serving staff are wearing masks. Whatever! We go sit down and the server comes up and we tell we Called our order in. She seemed very annoyed. Took our drink order. I asked to keep one of the menus to look at. That seemed to annoy her. She brought the drinks and I asked to ad a order of fries. She rolled her eyes and just walked away! At this point we were done! Despite the cash only debacle, the seedy neighborhood. the increased prices, the lack of oysters or icecream, and the disappointing chocolate pie...........I still give 4 stars to this yummy restaurant. the chicken and chicken livers were excellent and the homemade fresh veggies (a rare treat in our area restaurants} were superb. Hamptons is a diamond in the rough among the run down section of Daytona Beach on Mason Ave, this part of town may look a bit dangerous for the more fare skinned suburbanites among us, but for most it's an acceptable level of seedy. Hamptons itself is just fine on the inside featuring tables, booths, and counter service, this gem of southern cooking is cozy and comfortable. Heads up they only accept cash, which is hard for those of us who rely on plastic. I've been hearing for years about the wonder of Hamptons fried chicken and I was looking to score, but I doubted the feasibility of this seeing as it was ten in the morning. Much to my wonder our friendly (and slightly medicated, she let us know she took something for her back pain) waitress said they had chicken all day and even had a fried chicken breakfast special with optional sides of eggs, hash browns, and grits, I opted for the biscuits and gravy with a chicken thigh on the side for sampling. Our service was great and entertaining (they even have a one armed server who is extremely skilled at the arts of waitress-ing with her nub), by entertaining I mean our server had my whole table in stitches laughing the whole meal, we even had some tables near us rolling as well. The food was great, better than average, but not the best around, but that chicken was unbelievable, best I've had ever eaten hands down. If you are a fried chicken fan you need to go in the car right now and head down to Hamptons and even if you are not I bet theirs will make you a believer. read more

I have to click a star to put in my review. Seriously this food was terrible. Let's start with the fried chicken no flavor at all, Mac n Cheese no flavor and the mash potato was yellow. I mean this is NOT southern food. People really go and get good fried chicken some place else. I was robbed today $27.00 and I don't like just giving my money away. I should have had a slice of pizza, much cheaper and satisfying. My kid who does not say much about food said to me " mom this doesn't taste so good " and he just pushed it away.. They have great home cooked meals and a large variety of dishes on their menu. Breakfast is served all day as well as dinner served in the morning. This is my second trip to this location. Lived in deland for many years and ate the chicken many times... it's very good. On to Daytona...the first time i went there, i of course got the fried chicken because it's that good and it was lunchtime. The blonde waitress brought me a completely different order... without me saying anything, a few moments later she realized her mistake and brought me the food i had ordered...I let it pass.. anyone can have a bad day. This time i went for breakfast. Now this place was not overly busy either time, but it took 15 minutes to get a cup of coffee and i had to ask her twice for creamer...so she took my order for country fried steak and eggs, extra crispy home fries and toast. The food came pretty fast and i was surprised. The steak and eggs were delicious, but the cream gravy was completely flavorless, potatoes were barely warm and not even close to crispy...BUT you could have busted up concrete with the toast! Coffee is good, had to go get my own refill though, even though she just refilled the cups at a table ten feet from me!. So i ate the steak and eggs and spent my last penny in hamptons. At least at Denny's when you tell the waitress how you want something cooked it's usually correct. By the way...it was the same blonde waitress both times...so i guess she wasn't just having a bad day after all..In closing, if you don't want fried chicken...go somewhere else. read more

I really want to give four stars because of the fried chicken. LOVED IT! But the quality of the sides and the cleanliness factor most definitely dragged my rating down. I went with my girlfriend and we each ordered fried chicken. My sides were fries and spiced apples. Hers were mashed potato/gravy and fried ocra. I would order the fries and the fried ocra again, but definitely not the spiced apples and probably not the mashed potato. It was just ok. The apples were not very soft and not very spiced, just bland and unappealing. Don't bother saying yes to the rolls and muffins that they bring to the table. The rolls were hard. The muffins were unobjectionable. Price was more than fair and our waitress was very nice. CASH ONLY!!! I would not discourage you from going, but make sure it's for the fried chicken and choose your sides wisely. Bathrooms are a little sketchy on the cleanliness. But again...very friendly and pleasant waitstaff that made you feel at home! read more
