We drove by this area that had quite many Korean shops and stores. This restaurant located at the end of row houses. There were two other tables seated during the late weekend lunchtime. The decorations looked average. We ordered two combinations as shown in pictures on the menu. The Ja Jang Myun was way too sweet, so we could hardly finish the portions, and we still felt thirsty after a few hours into the dinner time. The Jam Bong came with good amount of seafood. The sauce in Pork Marinated In House was too sticky, so we could not finish that half, either.

There aren't many Jja jang myun place in HOCO area. This place is probably the best around here. I've been coming to this place since they opened! Yes I am old. lol I love the staff, they are always friendly. Place is always clean. Now the food is good! Trust me and go there!

The food was enjoyable. I tried the sam sun jampong (seafood noodles) and it was very good and flavorful. It does have a kick, so ask for less spicy if you can't handle spice. The tangsuyuk-jajang is the combination. The tangsuyuk is basically fried pork which didn't have much flavor. The khan pung gi (chicken) was delicious and the large was a great family sized dish. If you're to-going, they do charge per container whether it's big or small.

Best Korean Chinese food in the area! We ordered Samsun jjajang and jjampong this time and both tasted amazing - was better than Tien we recently went to for slightly cheaper too. We also got glutinous rice fried pork (large) and LOVED IT. It was definitely worth the extra couple of $$. Service was very fast, and the servers were so nice. They refilled our radish without us asking and even offered an apron so we wouldn't get food all over our shirt. The place is very spacious, and if we are ever craving Korean-Chinese food, we'll be coming here!

Came here because we were shopping at hmart and the soondubu place was closed! I've never had Korean Chinese before. Sizzling rice soup was very thick with cornstarch, veggies, seafood and poured into a giant hot stone pot. The squid was tasty-sweet and spicy. The waitress was super sweet, nice and attentive. We asked to take our leftover kimchi and she brought more for us to bring home!

Stopped by for lunch. I love the half and half option for their jjajangmyeon. The pork was nice and crispy with a perfect amount of sauce. The space was cute and quiet and an overall great place to just sit and enjoy a meal. Prices were very fair, I can definitely see myself coming back to try out more of the menu.

Plenty of free parking in the store lot. Also, accepts both cash and credit card. I stumbled upon this restaurant for dinner one night. We decided to get carry out. Upon entering the restaurant, there were tons of locals visiting this spot. The staff here at the front was very friendly and you just know that this place was going to be good. The aroma of spices and kim chi was in the air. We ordered several dishes from their seafood spicy noodle, crispy pork and their fried rice.. they also have a delicious spicy beef dish. Tons of garlic on the entree. All the dishes were flavorful. And their portions were large enough for sharing. If you like spicy food, this place offers tons of options to meet your needs. The crispy pork dish came with a nice sauce that you can pour on the pork which help soften the protein while also providing sweetness to the dish. This place is a great local mom and pop shop and is worth giving a shot.

I dined here just a few nights ago. For someone (like myself) who hasn't had Korean-Chinese cuisine, the half jjajjamyung (black bean noodles) and tangsuyuk (sweet & sour fried pork) hit the spot!!! I have a nice tip for ya, you can add some red pepper flakes onto your black bean noodles for a little kick! Anywho, one of the things that I enjoy about this establishment is that you can enjoy a good meal for a great price! Customer service is always amazing here at Han Joong Kwan! :)

Located off a strip mall in Ellicott City this is a must go for Korean comfort food. This was my first time and I was told this restaurant is a Korean staple in the area for over 20 years. The staff is extremely friendly - as it was cold they brought us warm barley tea (boricha). We ordered the Korean Chinese fusion dish - jjajangmeyon and fried beef cutlets (the combo is a must). The jjajangmeyon were average but the jjampong - spicy seafood noodle dish was spectacular - maybe the best I've had? The staff also brought us kimchi on the side (kimchi was fine). For being in a strip mall - the restaurants is quite big inside with Korean tv playing in the background. It's cozy and super clean with the friendliest staff. It may but be the best Korean food you've ever had but it's good and comforting especially on a cold day!

We didn't have a wait and we're seated right away. Our servers were very attentive and asked us immediately if we wanted water or tea--we opted for tea. Barley tea is my favorite! We ended ordering food for our table, maybe a little bit much for our party. I love Korean food and was raised on the Korean-Chinese style foods. We had the staples: jajangmyun, japchae, mandoo, and tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork). The jajangmyun noodles were good, it was supposed to be pork belly, however it seemed to be light on the pork and the sauce could use a little more salt for what I'm used to. Japchae was a little oily for my taste, but we enjoyed the cook of the noodle and the variety of veggies with beef in the dish. Mandoo we got fried. These mandoo had a nice meaty filling and was fried nicely. We made the dipping sauce using the vinegar, soy, and red pepper flakes for the mandoo. The tangsuyuk was my favorite. We ordered the sauce on the side (like we always do) so they pork doesn't get soggy. The pork had a nice fry and crunch and the sauce had the sweet and sour notes. The restaurant was clean and had a peaceful interior. We enjoyed the ambiance as it reminded me of many of the Korean restaurants I've been to. We would go back again and get the tangsuyuk and try the seafood jajangmyun or jam bong!

Probably the best black bean noodle/Jjampong place around the area. I love their Gan-jjajang-Myun as well as I'm a big fan of onions. If you aren't an onion fan, this may not be the best option for you. I believe the Jjampong (spicy seafood noodles) isn't spicy to a traditional Korean palette, but if you know you're not great with spice, be careful; however, the flavor is all there in the broth, so I'd still recommend trying it! The service is also quick and great, and I love the homely feeling inside. I can't forget to mention, you MUST get the Kkanpunggi, which are saucy fried chicken lollipops!

One small rice (far left) for 3 large dishes.
    Julie S.

We picked up a few large dishes for dinner and they gave us one rice in a small plastic container! What is that? It was our family dinner for 2 adults and 2 kids and we picked up on a Saturday night on the way back home from an event. If we didn't have frozen rices at home, we would've had to make fresh rice. They should have asked us if we needed more rice OR tell us that it will only come with one small rice. The food was mediocre but hopefully, it would taste better if you dine at the restaurant. We will give it one more try...

One of our to go spots for some home cooking style Korean food In Ellicott city. Foods are delicious, the signature fried chicken, pork strips with sweet n sour sauce are must to have. Aside from the signature black noodles and all. Service is typical for a Korean restaurant , not bad. Simply atmosphere, nothing really special. Plenty parking out front, next to Tiger Sugar.

We tried out a combo meal of 6 with ribeye, sirloin, mainly beef. The servers also grilled and cut all the meats for us which is nice. All side dishes are pretty standard like most other Korean restaurants. A delicious bowl of steam eggs came with the meal, wish they would at least offer two bowls for a party of 6 and surprisingly no rice came with the combo. We had to add an extra order of steak and seafood pancake since no one was really full with the combo. I would say this place is for those who have high expectations of fresh & premium meats. You will not be stuff or over indulged because it can be quite pricey. Our bill with tips & taxes was about $55 per person. It's a bit pricey for lunch and I wasn't even full. If you never been to this restaurant before, I recommend that you try it out at least once but I don't think we will be back here anytime soon.

We ordered various dishes from their LA Galbi, Bossam, Fish and tofu soup combo, seafood pancake, spicy pork and their rice cake soup. The LA Galbi was the best we had in town. Tons of flavor and the meat was juicy and meaty. The Bossam was delicious. Pork was tender and comes with sides to help you bring out the flavor of the dish. Definitely ask for their bean sauce and slices of jalapeño and fresh raw garlic. The fish and tofu soup is really good and can be shared with others. Fish was fresh and flaky. The seafood pancake was thick and has tons of seafood and comes with a nice dipping sauce. The spicy pork was plenty and has tons of flavor. Not too spicy. The rice cake soup was surprisingly good.
