Han Palace is hands down one of my favorite restaurants in DC, and there are two main reasons why: the portions and the drinks. First, the food portions here are astronomical. I ordered the Singapore noodles, which were packed with flavor and loaded with beef, chicken, and shrimp. The portion was so big that it honestly could be split between two people. I barely put a dent in it while I was there and ended up taking most of it home and eating off it for a while afterward. But the real showstopper is the bottomless drinks. For $18, you get bottomless Mai Tais, lemon drops, and mimosas, and the best part is they do it all day, not just during brunch hours. You can pull up at 7 p.m., get dinner, and still do bottomless drinks, which is something you don't see very often. Between the massive portions, the flavor, and the all-day bottomless option, Han Palace is an easy five out of five for me. If you're in DC and haven't been here yet, this is a must-go spot. read more

Han Palace Woodley Park is a convenient location for the surrounding area since most traditional Chinese restaurants are near downtown DC or elsewhere. This is a much needed addition to the Connecticut Ave corridor which lacks authentic Chinese restaurants and especially Dim Sum (brunch small plates). I hope that there are more choices like this in the near future for this surrounding area which lacks good traditional Chinese restaurants. The parking can be daunting since it still is in DC, might have a bit of a walk but that is everywhere in DC. The food was fast and had some unique choices that are not on a standard menu. read more

the bottomless cocktails at this location are STRONG. You won't see the promotion on the menu but once you get to the restaurant, it's on a black sign outside the restaurant. THEY WALK AROUND FILLING YOUR CUP WHEN YOU'RE ALMOST DONE so it feels like you never really finish your first one. The food was good, didn't take long for us to start eating after placing an order. We had the pan-fried dumplings which were delicious, dry beef chow fun and the orange chicken with 2 bowls of white rice for each of us. I was shocked at how rude the waitress was, when my friends and I ordered our meal or just tried to ask for the bill, she was obviously annoyed. There was a table next to us with small kids that she glared at the whole time and replaced their plates with styrofoam plates... This restaurant is not authentic and there weren't any other asian customers. The menu says salted fish on it and when we asked what kind of fish it was, the waitress said it was a big fish, but then the chef came out and said it was fish SAUCE not real fish. The wontons in my wonton soup were cold in the middle. This is a cute, quaint space with excellent service and quality food. I had time restrictions do the staff advised most times could be served in 10 to 15 minutes. The server was patient with any questions regarding the menu. I ordered the egg rolls and general tso shrimp (not on the menu). If you see something you like but prefer different meat or vegetable preferences they may be able to accommodate you. The egg rolls were standard but the sauce was tastless below par. A generic duck sauce tastes better. Typically places on this scale have a better quality sauce with a nice balanced flavor. I have eaten here several times with no problems--it's a little pricey but understandably so given the location. But... last night we had a delivery order and it was the worst. The beef in the beef chow fun was stringy and the sesame chicken was dry. Both seemed old. Worse, we ordered something called pork ribs for $6 that was nothing more than a collection of nugget sized bones. Inedible. Stopped by here to treat my parents to dimsum brunch on Saturday morning. The indoor dining area is limited in space, but the inside decor is quite nice. The outdoor seating area was not open when we were there. We arrived about ten minutes after the restaurant was slated to open; however, we were seated immediately. I'm glad we arrived when we did though as the dining area was full, and there was a short wait for those that were arriving as we were on our way out. There did not appear to be a "bottomless" dimsum option, but we were able to build a nice spread (Apologies for the limited number of photos. I was distracted by the food when it came out, and I failed to take more photos.) from the menu to include a dish from the vegetable section and a dish from the noodle section. I think Han Palace serves its purpose. By that, I mean to say it definitely brings a different version of "Chinese food" to a non-Chinese neighborhood. The food is 100% inauthentically Chinese but it's also not Americanized Chinese food. The taste wasn't bad and the visuals resembled Chinese food! There were lots of curious culinary missteps; so let's dive in! Misstep #1: the salty fish fried rice was WAY too salty and that made the overall taste subpar. But the saving grace of this dish was that every other component works! The eggs, chicken, and scallions were spot on! If this dish just removed the salty fish, then the dish would have been perfect. So why not just drop the salty fish in its entirety? Misstep #2: the steamed chicken feet was too sweet. This dish CAN be sweet but you have to counterbalance the sweetness with other flavors. The dish that I received was, unfortunately, a bit too sweet. Highlight: everything else about the dish was great (nice texture, spot on with the marination, not oily or greasy) Misstep #3: pork ribs were way too oily. When you steam a pork rib, fatty oil will naturally ooze out of the ribs. The restaurant made the mistake of over-marinating the ribs with too much oil. The taste was good minus the oily part. Misstep #4: I didn't even taste the bean curd in the "Bean Curd with Beef Ball." IDK if the bean curd was suppose to come with the dish or go inside of beef balls. Highlight, the beef ball tasted great though. Bright spots; chow fun and gold/purple yolk buns were amazing. Also, four dim sum dishes + a chow fun + a fried rice for $61 (post tax) is nicely priced. The portions were also fair for the price and location. The service was superb. The staff members were attentive and warm. So to summarize: taste was inconsistent, service was great, and one can expect to eat food that looks like Chinese food but is actually disguised as some other food. Despite the unassuming exterior--nestled quietly among other "ethnic-adjacent" spots like Nando's and Indian restaurants--the interior is beautifully decorated. Hanging plants, warm ambient lighting, and Chinese-style calligraphic art adorn the walls. The fun tiled bar showcases a plethora of alcoholic beverages and features large flat-screen TVs broadcasting sports and news. While they don't take reservations, you can call ahead to inquire about wait times. On a Saturday night at 6pm, our party of six only waited about five minutes for a table. Our server was brusque, asking for our orders within two minutes of seating us (we needed more time). The dim sum menu, though not as extensive or authentic as other places and a bit pricier, features a mix of Americanized entrees, vegetarian-friendly fare, and traditional noodles, rice dishes, and vegetables. Dishes started arriving about 10 minutes after we ordered, which was fairly quick. We also tried five different dim sum plates like shrimp and chive, shumai, and pork spare ribs. However, the dumpling skins were falling apart and sticking to the wooden steamer. The beef chow fun was the tastiest dish but extremely salty. The ambience of the restaurant is very pretty decor wise but the prices are also decidedly high for the quality of the food. I have been here twice now and both times have been great, the food is SO good! My hubby, my brother and a friend of mine went here yesterday, Saturday, 1/20/2024 at around 1pm and we were able to walk in and immediately be sat. The previous time I came here, we had to wait a bit, keep in mind they do not take reservations and there is not much standing room inside, so you may find yourself waiting outside while waiting for a seat. We decided to order a bunch of food and share everything, we got the soup dumplings, pan fried chicken and vegetable dumplings, General Tso's chicken, Mongolian Beef, Beef Chow Fun, Chinese Broccoli, and crispy pork. The soup dumplings were delicious, they were packed with porky meat and juicy. The pan fried chicken and vegetables dumplings were forgettable, I wouldn't order these again. The General Tso's chicken was great, a nice crispy exterior and very fresh tasting, this is some, if not the best General Tso's chicken I have ever had. The Chinese Broccoli is also an item I wouldn't order again, it was fine, but truthfully I expected something different and more on the lines of actual broccoli which this is not, so that was our ignorance. TikTok sent us here. We stopped by on a Sunday afternoon. Customer service was poor. Weren't greeted upon entry. We had a seat at the bar and sat for 30 minutes before we were acknowledged. We went on a Friday evening and the tables are first come first serve. We put our names on their list, and the staff called us when the table was ready. You truly can't beat the amazing food selection and pricing of the menu. We ordered, bao, dumplings, a half order of the duck and had a few cocktails. Everything was delicious and we were super full after leaving. The service was very efficient and the staff were attentive. The decor was fun with the ambiance that you're sitting under trees while you dine, although they are fake. Unfortunately, Han Palace doesn't accept reservations. So, if you're going (regardless of how early) be prepared to have anything between a 10 - 45 minute wait. Luckily their team takes your phone number and calls you once a table's available... So, my friend and I went across the road and grabbed a drink while waiting. Their Dim Sum was really authentic and bursting with flavour. We had the Pork Ribs with Garlic, Shrimp and Chive Dumplings, Crab Meat Dumplings and one of my ABSOLUTE favourites the Purple Gold Yolk Bun (Lai Wong Bao). For food, we decided to try a variety of items to share. Unlike typical brunch dim sum, they do not go around with carts and you must individually order everything. We got the shrimp and chives dumpling, pork shumai dumplings, crab dumplings, the pork buns, pan fried beef dumplings, and an order of beef chow fun. All were good. I will say on the shrimp and crab dumplings the dumpling shell was a little slimy which may be an issue for those with texture preferences. My favorites were the pork shumai dumplings and the pork buns. I also really liked the chow fun. For dessert, we shared the coconut tapioca. It's like a warm sweet soup and is not a pudding. We really enjoyed it! It surprised us because it looks odd but it tastes so yummy and warm. It also had I believe taro chunks in it. It was a very pleasant way to end the meal. Overall, we had a good experience and would return. The menu isn't very big but their are good options. They also had many martini options (except they don't espresso martinis fyi). Han Palace is a cute restaurant right off the Woodley Park metro stop. I had seen a lot of people raving about this spot, so I wanted to check it out for myself since I love dumplings! We were quickly seated upon arrival. The decor was very cute, and there was both indoor and outdoor seating which made the restaurant a little warm. We visited with friends who each got their own entrees. I ordered the Soup Dumplings and Pork Buns and tried a bit of my husband's Han Style Peking Duck. We also got the Purple Gold Yolk Buns for dessert. The food was actually so good! The dumplings and pork buns were warm and had good flavors. The duck had a nice, crispy skin. The dessert buns were warm, with a gooey center. Only complaint is that I think the staff had forgotten about my soup dumplings and by the time I actually got them, the rest of the table had finished eating. But, our server was great and not only apologized but took the dumplings off our check. Definitely give Han Palace a try if you're in the area! read more

Went here for lunch on a Saturday morning. Very cute restaurant with wonderful decor. The restaurant was spacious and had a lot of seating for a variety of group sizes. The service was very fast, quick to seat us and provide us menus. They gave us time to order as well, being patient as we scanned the menu. Unfortunately, the food was a hit or miss. The soup dumplings were delicious, but small. Some of it came apart as you lifted it up (spilling some of the soup). The pork buns were flavorful but small as well. The pan fried beef & vegetable dumpling was really soggy and did not taste good. The egg drop soup was good as well, but did not stand out for the size and price.
