Great little hole in the wall Chinese place. Super small., a few tables and tiny counter space. Looks a bit grungy, but that's ok. Order at the counter, wait for your food at a table. She will either call you to come get it or she might deliver it to you. Chopsticks, forks if you ask. Small , basic menu. Dumplings, noodle dishes, fried rice dishes, spare ribs. That mostly it. But it's all good, a bit on the greasy side, but tasty, fried dumplings are deep fried, which aren't my favorite, but they were still good. I'll be back!
I have ordered online from them many times for work lunches and always had a good experience. The storefront is very unassuming and the online ordering website a bit old school, but food is delicious and authentic so I can't complain!
Very tasty food and very quick service. Cash preferred. Small restaurant with limited seating. Relatively cheap for DC, but not like dirt cheap. $14 excluding tax for this noodle bowl.
I was curious to try some more items here and got a takeout order. I thought the intestines were tasty and the shu mai had a good seafood flavor due to the shrimp, but wasn't as tender as I have had at some other places. The chow foon was good consistent with my prior review. I was surprised to see drunken noodle (a typically Thai offering) on the menu and ordered on a limb. I thought all the ingredients were fine, but it could have used a stronger Thai chili / soy sauce flavor as it was a bit bland compared to the other items.
The Siu Mai and beef chow foon is pretty amazing for around the DMV, and this is coming from someone from SoCal! The Siu Mai is really delicious--Good filling with shrimp pieces and very tender! The beef chow fun has a good fried-ness to it and thick rice noodles! The only skip for me would be the pork dumplings, so they were more breading. Quick service and small but clean location!
**BRING CASH came here for brunch after going to the Bruno Mars x Hello Kitty pop up nearby. I've been wanting to try this spot for the longest time & coming here afterwards was perfect! we ordered a wonton soup, pan fried dumplings & beef rice noodles crepes. we paid in cash for a small discount. food came out in 15 minutes & it was delicious. you can tell everything is made in house, from the dumpling wrappers to the actual dumplings. I loved it so much. the wonton soup was so warming and delicious. highly recommend. I was surprised as to how good the noodle crepe was too! this is a very small shop, but they were busy with orders. I ordered a beef chow fun to go & that was really good too! highly recommend if you're in the area.
China Boy remains one of my favorite DC restaurants. I love their fresh rolled noodles, whether that is in their crepe, chow foon or noodle soup formats. The soup is the best one though... the broth is delectable, rich and flavorful. When my Chinese family visited, they said that China Boy's rolled noodles are even better than some of their favorite noodle shops back home. And just to drive the points once more - I go as far as to buy their uncooked flat rice noodles as gifts whenever I travel out of state. Other amazing options are their popcorn chicken and pork belly buns. You cannot go wrong and will never be disappointed! I normally order China Boy through delivery apps and have bought from them at least a dozen times. The packaging is always secure. They used to be takeout only, so call ahead to see if they allow indoor dining now.
China Boy is a cozy, cash only, hole-in-the-wall spot located in DC's Chinatown. I came here with a serious craving for some staple Chinese dishes and was not disappointed! For appetizers, we got the shrimp rice noodle crepe and char siu bao, which were classic. I also loved the strong wok hei of the beef chow fun, combination fried rice, and roasted pork lo mein. Their chili oil is good but hella spicy so be careful haha. While it could have been that we were starving and beat down by the DC heat, I do feel they did all the basics extremely well. Service was fast. Ambiance is fine but really tiny- would suggest avoiding rush times. I will say it was very annoying that this place is cash only and super stressful to try to scrounge up enough... but still 9/10 would recommend for the food!

Ok so this is the kind of place I look for when I travel. It's a hole in the wall hidden gem. They have weird hours so make sure you check before you go. It is ran by a few older ladies who make you feel like family . The food is all made to order and it was amazing . When we sat down the guys at the table told us to order the popcorn chicken so we took their advice and it was ridiculously good. I got the beef brisket curry noodle and she got the beef fried rice which were both cooked to perfection. Definitely would go back for sure . This is the kind of Chinese restaurant I wish was in my neighborhood!
Oh my goodness their 'Deep fried doughnut noodle crepe" rice roll here is AMAZING. I believe this dish is traditionally called Zhaliang. The donut on its own is called youtiao and the steamed rice crepe around it is called cheung fun I believe. Everything in this restaurant is made from scratch- noodles etc. The rice crepe around the donut was very soft and fresh, even somewhat gooey and the doughnut inside was very crispy and crunchy making the two textures really contrast and complement each other. The doughnut had a really good savory flavor. On the table there was a "Noodle crepe sauce" to eat it with and it was delicious. There was also a fresh green chilli sauce that I really liked with it too. This was so fresh(by far the freshest I have had) and so perfectly done. I was crazed about this for breakfast! It's $5 off the dim sum menu. Seriously a must try. I hope to try more on future visits! It's a very simple and casual counter order place. Everyone was very pleasant. When I came in AM the door was locked but when I called by phone they came to unlock it. Vegetarian and vegan friendly. My general rating system: 1 star: I would stay away 2 stars: Has some good things about it but I generally don't recommend. 3 stars: Pretty good. I wouldn't go out of my way to go back but a decent place 4 stars: Great place. I would go back. 5 stars: I highly recommend stopping whatever you are doing and making plans to try it out! An Evie favorite!

Nice mom and pop spot for good food in DC! Very limited seating and definitely a spot that's known for the food and not so much the vibes but totally worth checking out if you're in the area. Great service, but they do prefer cash and do offer discounts if you are able to pay in cash, so make sure you bring some if you decide to try this place out!
Delivery review ahead. I have not had an opportunity to visit it so I cannot speak to the ambiance. Finally had a chance to try China Boy after hearing lots of great reviews. With that, I must say that the reviews did not lie...gosh this food was AMAZING! The combination lo mein contained roasted pork, chicken, and shrimp. I added vegetables to the mix and honey, I was pleasantly surprised by the quantity (made for 3 small meals) but also the quality of the dish. The roasted pork, shrimp, and chicken was perfectly prepared and the lo mein was just right. The flavors combined together for a lite yet delectable dish and I especially loved the vegetables (bok Choy) I would absolutely order here again as long as the quality doesn't change. read more

China Boy, near Chinatown, is a bustling hole-in-the-wall spot that feels busy but not unwelcoming. Service is through a QR code, though you can also order at the counter. You pay and bus your own table. The food came out pretty fast, and there were lots of pickup drivers coming through. The beef chow fun had great wok hei. The rice noodles were good, and the steak was really flavorful without being chewy. The onions and green onions were also great. The fried tofu came in triangle-shaped pieces rather than cubes, but it was still really good. It had a nice sweet soy-style sauce, little pieces of fried garlic, cilantro, and a spicy sauce that went really well with everything. It is not a mega-amazing or fancy dining experience, but it is acceptable. For a quick, affordable, and satisfying meal, this place is perfect. read more

You could easily walk right past this cute restaurant in the middle of what's left of Chinatown, but this place is worth stopping for. Authentic grub made by super nice staff. Tiny dining space (24 seating customers max) that specializes obviously in rice noodle dishes ranging from fried noodles, soup noodles to dim sum-type items. We ordered 2 "specialties: beef chow fun & beef brisket noodle soup. Almost 5 star entrees based on portion size but dinged a star down to 4 due to excessive oil in fried noodle dish (plenty of tender beef!), and overwhelming use of cilantro & semi-tender brisket in noodle soup. Pretty authentic and the prices are good so we'd come here again but (AND THIS IS A BIG BUT), they close in mid-afternoon so as a dinner option, questionable. Great place for lunch for sure. read more
This is definitely a hole in the wall restaurant but it is nicely decorated. The ladies who worked there are very friendly and efficient. There are definitely a constant line of customers. We will definitely dine here again the next time we visit DC. Beware that they charge extra for credit payment but there is a clear sign at the cashier. The food was very good. Their beef chow fun was the best with the right flavor. It was quite oily however. The beef stew fun soup was okayed. I would definitely try other steamed rolls dishes next time. read more
Hidden spot for great dim sum. Really good dumplings and crepes with shrimp or pork. They accept credit card but you order through your phone and app. Select can and bottle beverages to go with your dumplings. Only 4/5 tables inside very small place but great service and food! read more

Surprisingly generous portion of hearty noodz. The combination lo mein came with way more protein than I anticipated. I dined in for lunch and discovered there was ample seating, although the shop's pretty tiny. There's perhaps seating enough for 20 folks, tops? It seems like most folks order delivery or takeout. I paid in cash, but I observed several other folks attempt to pay with card before being summarily declined. Apparently, in order to pay by credit, you have to order online. I've never encountered this kind of system before, but it must have been relatively straightforward, because several other diners were able to figure it out after some initial perturbation. Cute little spot in Chinablock that reminded me of the quick-and-dirty Chinese diners I used to frequent in Queens almost two decades ago! read more

Food: we found this spot on yelp. It did not disappoint. We ordered beef chow foon. The beef was perfectly smoky and slightly crispy rendering a delicious taste. It had wonderful pieces of onion and chinese vegetables. The noodles were cooked just right. The other star of our meal was the shrimp dumplings! Big bite of shrimp in each dumpling. Both dishes were marvelous. Ambiance: You can dine in or take out. We dined in. The small dining area was great for a quick bite. Value: Prices are good especially for the quality you get! read more

Tasty Cantonese style cuisine shop tucked away in a small corner in Chinatown. A true hole in the wall experience. Warning they are cash-only but you can order online in the store too. We got beef chow foon, beef soup noodle, and popcorn chicken (which is actually a Taiwanese thing, but I digress). All of it was delicious and a bit heavier in taste than I was expecting. Definitely a healthy amount of msg as we were pretty thirsty after our meal. The popcorn chicken was really crispy. The chow foon was a little strange. Tasted good but also had this coal-like after taste. Could be something with their wok at the time. Soup was salty and oily. tldr; small but mighty shop that has pretty authentic canto cuisine vibes. read more
A hole in the wall if there ever was one. You might pass it if you're not looking for it. All of the food was very good except the chicken sticky rice , it was okay but I probably wouldn't order it again. They prefer cash--so if you don't have cash, you have to use their QR code to order--which we did from our table. No real complaints. read more

This place is located in Chinatown. I came to try the dim sum but unfortunately they only accept cash so if you want to pay by card, you'll have to place an online order which lists the same items at higher prices. While I was at the location, I placed an online order to pay by card in order to dine in. I ordered the shrimp rice rolls which were very good. The shrimp was a decent size and the rice rolls were soft. A few customers came in afterwards and weren't too happy after they verbally gave their order only to find out that the establishment only accepts cash. The interior was simple and small. The woman who took my order was nice. read more
Food was great! Very authentic, but the restaurant was so cold the day we went. We had to keep our coat on while we ate and felt like the food got cold way faster as well. Everything is served like fast food style which was not great but 4 stars because the food deserves it. read more

Nice selection of noodles based and bun dishes. Pricing is very reasonable. Environment is clean and the food is good. Even simple plain rice crepe (齋腸粉) is done well because the noodles taste fresh. The pickled cabbage beef noodle is definitely interesting, the noodle is a round thicker rice noodle and the broth is unique. One last point - the chili oil is an important part of dining in noodle joints and theirs hit the mark well. Be sure to take advantage and add that to the dish(es) read more

Since my last visit, they've opened up their dining area, it's a very small dining space. They also say that you get a better price for paying cash. Ordered online, but you have to make an account and pay with a card. It was convenient and set a pick up time as my "note". We ordered take out and it was ready by the time I had requested. The food was good. We got the beef brisket noodles again. And an order of the pork crepe noodles, a bbq pork bao and the big chicken bao. It all tasted good but I was a little surprised that the order for the bbq pork bao was $6 for ONE bao. read more
Exactly what I want out of my casual Asian dining. Small place, unassuming, and old looking menu often mean the food is about to be great. We got the pork dumplings and pork buns. Both were packed with flavor. The chili sauce on the table was spicy enough to bring one single tear to my eye, perfect. Wish it wasn't cash only and that they had some music playing so it wasn't so quiet, but overall great experience and would recommend. read more

A highly discussed restaurant located in DC Chinatown, the food here is okay. My favorite item in the photo attached was the chicken sticky rice due to its comforting aroma and taste. The bao buns were a bit lacking in flavor, as well as the shrimp dumplings. read more

Corkage fee? You're assuming they have tableware for your convenience. Bring a paper cup or discreetly sip out of your brown bag and they're not likely to complain.
Is there parking?
There is plenty of street parking but this is strictly a walk up order window and you wait on the street for your food to be prepared TO GO, only.
Do you have sushi? If so, do you have California rolls, and egg rolls?
No, China Boy only serves Chinese food, not Japanese food. They also do not have eggrolls as far as I know.
