It's been 3 years since I've been to this Hana Ramen location. My first time the ramen was full of flavour and karage tender and moist. This time the ramen was missing an umami flavour and not as exciting. Food was mostly okay, just not wow. The service is attentive and prompt. Place is nicely decorated with cute lucky cats and a mural of Fuji mountain. But a very noisy table with kids screaming was disruptive to our meal, which is not something the restaurant could do much about. Overall not as enjoyable nor tasty, as the first time, 3 years ago.

After a spontaneous, relaxing beach day, we found Hana Ramen on route home, and decided to grab dinner here ^^ The prices looked absolutely affordable, the meal combos were very appealing, and the staff were friendly and attentive! P.S. The first refill of noodles is FREE! It was my first time having 紅燒牛肉烏冬 Braised Beef Udon, and it was actually pretty good, and has a bit of a kick! Combo 3 also comes with a large side of crab meat salad and agedashi tofu. The Unagi Don, on the other hand, was a bit too saucy for me; the rice was drenched on the bottom. Overall, it was still tasty, but I do prefer more white rice without sauce :p

First time visiting this restaurant and I had a great experience. Very nice cosy location with nice seating and not too busy. Perfect for not needing to make reservations or waiting a long time for a table. I liked how the Ramen includes the first refill of noodles for free. I was extra hungry today and asked for the refill to come right away, and ordered an extra portion of the braised beef. I ordered the Combo #2 which includes the Braised Beef Ramen with crab meat salad, and spring rolls. And also an extra side of braised beef. My wife ordered Combo #1 Tonkotsu, with Chicken Karage and a slice of cheesecake. I enjoyed my bowl of noodles and the beef was delicious, the soup broth that I received I perfectly seasoned, not too salty and not too spicy. The server was very considerate seeing my 5 year old daughter was a bit struggling with the seat that she had being slightly too low, and offered to change her to a slightly higher adult chair. I much appreciated this, and the server was very attentive to our needs throughout our lunch. I will be returning to this wonderful restaurant!

The place is not easy to notice from the outside, but the inside is pretty spacious and homey, with cute decorations. The service was nice too. The staff was friendly and patient. The food had a good quantity, and was nice overall. The pork pieces in the ramen were so thick and tender. However, one thing I have to say is that the oil was a bit odd; both my friend and I particularly felt it while eating the karaages and fried dumplings, and we both experienced stomach upset in the afternoon. Hope the owner can look into it. Apart from that, it's a good place for a comfortable ramen meal in Scarborough. The restaurant is a bit small but definitely quite cozy. They have a variety of ramen and we got the original tonkotsu and spicy pork. Both had super tender slices of pork where the meat just melts in your mouth and a generous portion of noodles. They also provide one free portion of noodle refill! We also really enjoyed the egg (the yolk was amazing). The spicy pork broth was more spicy than expected but very good and came out hot. The chicken karaage came out very hot and was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Will be back!

What stood out right away for me was the very accommodating service provided by the staff here. There were a lot of times I found myself needing to request things such as extra bowls or utensils, and the server was very nice and prompt in working on them. Two people waited on our table - a guy and an older woman - and both of them were extremely pleasant people. The pricing of the food was great and towards the affordable side. They also have combo meals that offer way better value for the menu items compared to having to order them all individually. We tried the M4 Unagi Don ($15.99), a D8 3 pc Takoyaki ($3.99), and a B4 combo ($19.99), which had Tonkotsu, Karaage, and Cheesecake. Their cheesecake was a little different from what I came to expect, but it was different in a good way. The cheesecake was cold to the bite like ice cream, and there was some jello-like texture to it. Hana Ramen's cheesecake was not fluffy or spongy like with other places. The food taste was good. I only wished their timings were just a little bit better. The karaage that came as part of the combo meal came much later after the ramen. Our group had 4 orders of the B4 combo. 2 from our group ordered the M4 Unagi Don, and that came later after the B4 combo was served. So the people who ordered the Unagi had to start eating later than the rest. The last thing I want to mention is that the place was decorated and themed pretty well. Wallpaper shows a Mount Fuji, and there were also some flowers and Japanese design umbrellas hanging from above. Their washroom's toilet was also very modern and not something you always get from other such places.

Sometimes when I go to a Noodle Bar, I add ingredients that are usually associated with ramen into my Chinese fish soup. Hana Ramen is what I imagine it would be like if I added Chinese influence to my ramen. I will start off by saying that if you are looking for a ramen shop with traditional flavors, don't come here; none of the dishes here tasted like any other ramen shop I've been to in Toronto. However, if you like Chinese flavors and you like ramen, then this place may be the spot you've been missing. Here are examples of some of the fusion I experienced: -the outside of the charsiu had a sweet and smoky flavor that reminded me of Chinese bbq shops -the chicken karaage tasted similar to Taiwanese fried chicken -the braised beef ramen had some Sichuan Pepper flavor Thankfully I enjoy all of the food I listed above, it was just a but surprising to eat this together in a ramen shop. The service here was good. The staff were friendly and the food came quickly. The restaurant is a bit small, so if you are coming here more than 5 people, there is only 1 table that can seat you. Also bring a sweater because even though I came here on a spring evening, I was a bit cold until I got my soup.

My new favourite ramen spot! Don't let the location of this place deceive you... while tucked away and unsuspecting from the outside, the food is delicious, service is friendly, and value is fair. One of the highlights of this spot is the menu variety. They have combo options that come with a bowl of ramen, a side dish, drink/dessert, all at a great price. When it comes to ramen, sometimes the portions aren't always the best and especially when I eat with my bf that's a big concern. So the combo option was ideal to make sure we both left full. I ended up getting the tomato tonkatsu while my bf got one of the combos that came with karaage and cheesecake. Another win is that their ramen comes with a free refill on noodles... neither of us had to refill because we were full from the initial portions. They came with more toppings than I'm used to, though I feel they maybe could provide more than the typical 2 pieces of protein (can't dock them for this though as this seems to be the standard amount all ramen places I've been to give). Lastly, I loved that the broth wasn't too salty or rich in MSG. I don't usually drink all the soup at ramen spots because of that reason, but the broth here was lighter and didn't make me feel gross about drinking it. We both looooved the mango cheesecake... so yummy! The only downside if I wanted to get nitty gritty is that while cute, the restaurant space is fairly small and doesn't seem like it'd be ideal to accommodate large groups. Some of the furniture seems a little makeshift and thrown together but that's not a concern at all for me. We will definitely be back to try other dishes or when we need to satisfy a ramen craving.

We got the Combo 1 that comes with Tonkatsu Ramen, a side of Karaage, and a slice of Cheesecake. Also got another Shoyu Pork Ramen and a side of Takoyaki. Overall, everything was pretty good, except for the chashu in the ramen that was very chewy and tough to eat. The Karaage was probably the best thing there because every piece was sooo crispy yet juicy and was great with the spicy mayo sauce. The menu also says they give 1 free refill for their ramen, but we didn't get it this time. TL;DR best Karaage we ever had. Worst chashu ever. Definitely would come back.

I've been coming to this place pretty often, it's not too busy and I love the service. The restaurant is small inside but it's so beautiful and cozy. The decor is really cute Japanese styled dining. My go to is the spicy pork ramen; it is so flavourful and has a wonderful kick. The place isn't even pricy either, if you want a main dish; extra toppings, a drink and a side it's like $30-40 per person. I've eaten out many places in Toronto, this is local and sweet.

We ordered a spicy veggie ramen with egg noodle (kale noodle was also an option for the veggie bowl) and a shio ramen. The ramen itself was average and I didn't think it was amazing but not disappointing for a bowl of ramen. I liked that I was able to customize the saltiness of the broth. We also added on an egg to our noodles, but the yolk was less jammy (a tad overcooked) for my liking. The parking lot will probably the biggest nightmare if you've never been to this plaza. Its menu already shows its uniqueness: its signature ramen is shio ramen, which simply means salt ramen. Unlike other ramen restaurants that often promote their strong and heavy-flavoured pork broth, Santouka just says "salty broth." I think it really reflects Japanese culture and spirit. The chef's craftsmanship shows that using simple ingredients is enough to make flavorful food. I ordered the Shio Ramen and an Aji-tama (medium-boiled egg). It still had a very strong savoury flavour and wasn't too salty at all. To be honest, it tasted like pork broth to me. Whatever it was, it made me feel comfortable while having the ramen and after the meal. Meals at other ramen restaurants are usually too salty. Sorry, I am playing with words here, because it is interesting that the "salty broth" isn't too salty, while other broths are usually saltier. The branch in Scarborough is spacious and very suitable for dining with family, friends, or even business associates. The plaza it is in is a very competitive area for noodle cuisine. You can add Hokkaido Ramen Santouka to your radar the next time you go there.

We ordered the homura (Top 1), roast beef (Top 2), and the salmon salad to share. The roast beef was especially memorable because it came with a yogurt-based sauce, which sounded unusual at first but added a creamy tang that worked surprisingly well. Homura flavour leaned more to traditional ramen taste but bowls were flavorful, satisfying, and overall still very unique. Portions of meat were generous too! We came on a Saturday evening and waited about 10 minutes outside before getting seated. But I think we got pretty lucky because the line grew much longer shortly after we arrived. We came around 6:45 PM on a Wednesday and waited about 10 to 15 minutes. There was already a long lineup outside and it grew shortly after, but tables turn over pretty quickly. The restaurant itself is quite small and loud, with most tables better suited for groups of two to four. There's no immediate parking, so you'll likely need to find paid street parking (there was a line) or walk a little farther for free residential parking. The washroom is also downstairs via a flight of stairs and there is a lack of space between all tables. They have bins at each table for storage. Despite how hectic it was, the staff were very friendly and service was quick. You can view the menu and order directly through the QR code at your table, and the food came out pretty quickly. Unfortunately, the meal started off with a bug in my drink. My friends and I each ordered a different aburasoba. I chose the Roast Beef Aburasoba, one of their top 3 picks. It comes with roast beef, onion sauce, yogurt, fried onion sauce, egg, and green onion. You can choose between raw, a soft-boiled or poached egg, and I went with soft-boiled. The roast beef was sliced extremely thin and tasted fine, but nothing about it particularly stood out to me. I also added extra chashu for $2.99, which was fairly tough and thin as well. They recommend mixing the noodles for at least 20 seconds before eating. You can also customize your bowl with complimentary vinegar, sesame, pepper, chili paste, chili oil, and fried garlic. I added the fried garlic and it gave the noodles more flavour and texture. We also ordered the Ika Geso and Chicken Karaage for $8.99 each. Both were fried well and tasted good. The karaage had a nice portion, while I thought the squid portion could've been a little more generous. The meal is definitely filling and leans toward the heavier side, so you probably won't leave hungry. But for me, the value still wasn't quite there. Part of what makes traditional ramen worth the price is the rich broth and the amount of preparation that goes into it. Here, you're paying similar ramen prices for sauce-coated noodles, and I didn't enjoy the toppings. If you already enjoy dry ramen or aburasoba, you'll probably appreciate this more than I did. I personally prefer ramen with broth. I'm glad I tried it, but I'm not sure I'd return.

Konjiki is good, far from great, but very solid. The broth has the right consistency with a satisfying richness, falling just a touch short of the deep, creamy intensity I personally look for. The noodles were cooked perfectly, maintaining just the right amount of bite. Nothing ruins a bowl of ramen faster than overcooked noodles. The soft-boiled egg was equally well executed, with a perfectly jammy center, and the chashu had excellent flavor and texture. My biggest criticism isn't what's missing....it's what's added. Like many ramen shops outside Japan, Konjiki includes pickled ginger, pickled takana, and braised bamboo shoots. For me, none of them improve the bowl. The photo indicated that my miso ramen had bamboo shoots. I'm not a fan of them, so I asked that they be omitted. I also added a jammy egg and corn. I got a cold can of Diet Coke. A frosted glass with ice accompanied it. I was happy. I love an icy cold drink. This one was excellent. I loved that it was extra cold. My bowl of ramen had arrived. I was excited to dive in. My miso chachu ramen was delicious. The miso flavour was on point. I drank most of the broth, which speaks volumes on how yummy it was. The chachu was tender and had the best balance of pork and fattiness. The number of slices was generous. The ramen was chewy and perfectly done. I loved the corn and jammy egg. I probably wouldn't have enjoyed my ramen without these two key toppings. They worked nicely with the green onions. What prevents me from giving this place a perfect rating is flagging a server to get me water, or to frankly flag any staffer for something, such as ordering dessert or getting the bill. It took effort and hand-waving to get their attention. It took two tries to get a glass of water with ice. I was happy when I got some after I had finished my Diet Coke. It was equally as cold and yummy. I ordered dessert. The menu is stuck on each table. I asked what ice cream flavours were available. There were two flavours and I went with matcha. It was rich, creamy, and full of strong matcha flavour. The scoop of ice cream was generous. I loved the small spoon, which allowed this dessert to last a lot longer. I asked for the bill. I got a payment machine. I used my credit card to pay and tip. All was great. I used the washroom before I headed over to explore the downtown area. The washrooms are downstairs. It's an older building, so accessibility is an issue. There are two single-stall washrooms. The one that I used was clean. Because it's an older building, the ceiling is low. I am just shy of six feet in height. I made it without hitting my head on the ceiling. If you are six feet and taller, you'll need to duck to make sure you don't bang your head. Staff say goodbye to you when you leave. It was a nice touch, although I don't know what they are saying to me in Japanese. They could be swearing at me and I wouldn't know. I had a wonderful experience here. If you don't mind sitting close to folks and waving your arms like a maniac to get your server's attention, come here. This ramen joint appeared as a Michelin place in 2017. I can see why. The food quality is excellent. (200)

Excellent, fresh, halal sushi at an affordable price…read more Great quality and portions. Friendly staff. Lots of items to choose from on the menu. There's also the option of getting bubble tea. They're more than a sushi place as they've got some other items too. We got the deal with the sushi pieces and the miso soup. The owner was so nice and gave us an extra so we didn't have to share. The bubble tea was also good. Service was pretty quick. I would come back if I'm in the area. Note: shop has limited seating space, with only 3 tables but takeout works well too.

Went here during my vacation in Canada back in July. Sushi cravings come every once in a while and…read moreI typically have one go to spot when I'm home, but this place did it for me. The restaurant was pretty small. Very little seating in the restaurant and it just felt pretty tight. The chefs also worked partly in the front which was interesting, not new to me though. The employee at the front was helpful. She helped break down the menu, which had an unholy amount of options, but she made things way easier for me. My food did take 15-30 minutes to come out which was odd cause I've gone to other small sushi spots that bring out the food way quicker, even with the same serving size. Regardless, I had the salmon maki, tuna maki, and California maki. No Philadelphia roll, but it's alright. The rolls tasted like your usual sushi roll and it hit the spot. Nothing special but definitely tasted good. Good sushi, a bit slow service, not too good for planning to eat in a restaurant, but good service. If you just want some sushi, go ahead and try this out.
