Excellent bowl of ramen. Not your average style, the abura aspect is a rich flavourful oil base instead of the usual broth. It's really delectable with all the sauce covering every noodle. Definitely try and customize with toppings such as the fried garlic, sesame, chilli oil, or even vinegar to cut the richness a bit. The meat is also cooked well, tender and delicious. Although the servers are friendly and curious, it's so busy they might not always be as attentive as other restaurants. Also, food always seems to arrive at the table at different times so it may be a bit awkward as someone who ploughed through their noodles will be done before some is just starting to mix their bowl. As it's new a popular, be ready for a wait if you come during prime hours, otherwise if you come a bit early or later you'll probably be in within 5-15 minutes. The restaurant itself is a bit loud but it's more of that fun energy and hustle and bustle with a popular tight seating restaurant. For noodle lovers or ramen lovers it's definitely a must go.

Kajiken had been on my must-try list for a long time, and I finally decided to make the trip and brave the potential wait. I stopped by 5:48pm on Saturday and we were probably at least 5-7 groups deep in line. Luckily the line went through really quickly and we got in in 10 mins as a group of 2. All together I was able to line up, order and finish my meal with 1 hr paid parking at a nearby street. Top notch service and super efficient. It was certainly shorter than the estimated "longer than average" 30min wait from Google, I think it would be great if they have a waitlist system so that people are more open to visiting because the estimate from Google kind of scared me away for a long time from attempting a visit. We ordered the unagi abura and meat lovers abura soba along with 3 apps - soft shell crab, katsu and takoyaki. Soft shell crab was great, better than another Toronto ramen shop I've had. Takoyaki is authentic and takes me back to Japan. Katsu just as expected, no complaints. Out of the two abura soba ramen, we preferred the unagi ramen. Creamy and love the pickled radish to balance (wish there was more). Definitely leverage the side condiments of garlic, chilli and/or sesame seeds to customize to your liking. The sauce of the meat lovers and unagi was distinctly different, deeper flavours with unagi. Definitely recommend adding a runny onsen or raw egg on top if the ramen you ordered doesn't come with an egg already to mix it in. The only thing is with the 3 sides and with the abura soba, everything began to get a little too salty. I think the unagi is great though quite rich and not something I can have daily. I can't wait to try some of their other popular options like the homura and roast beef next time. They went even above and beyond. The server accidentally tipped our drinking water over our takoyaki and automatically gave us a fresh new full dish at the end without us even mentioning it (we already ate a couple balls on our plate before it was doused it water). We were full so we took it to go. Something we will repeat, but not sure if I would want to wait too long, I may have been lucky this time. I hope they incorporate a waitlist in the future.

Pretty good flavour if you like the dry ramen but did find it a bit too much oil but still very tasty. The place is popular and fill up fast but quick turnaround perfect for grabbing lunch I your in the area.

Kajiken Ramen is a restaurant getting hype these days on social media . It always has a long line outside, even on snowy days. As a ramen lover, I had to come here to try. Its signature dish is not the typical ramen with a strong-flavored broth, but a broth-less ramen. The noodles are mixed with their special oil to prevent them from sticking together and to also provide a unique taste. I think that's why a big Kanji "油" (oil) appears frequently in the restaurant -- on the wall, on the employees' uniforms. My true review about it is... I think it's an overhyped restaurant. I have to say that their noodles, which are made manually every day in their open kitchen where you can watch the process, were very good -- close to 10/10. I'd give it 10/10 if it were a store making and selling the raw noodles. I may have too much experience eating noodles mixed with different oils. Those kinds of noodle dishes are very common in Chinese-style noodle restaurants and are tastier. I think the biggest problem with Kajiken Ramen's meals is that I wouldn't know it was a Japanese ramen -- it tastes very similar to Chinese broth-less noodles.

The lineups have died down, so it was time to try this place out. Service was fast and efficient. I liked that the workers spoke with enough volume, a seemingly rare trait in the service industry full of mumbles and whispers nowadays. There is a lot of seating inside, and bigger tables as well as window seats for solo diners. It's quite loud, with the music as well as loud patrons. Not the best place to have a conversation... Eat fast, get out lol. But onto the food... The noodles and menma were excellent, but that was it. All the meat toppings for the original as well as the meat lover were tough and hardly seasoned. (The noodles were very underseasoned compared to places in Japan too, but that's an easy fix with the condiments provided.) Maybe I may have liked the niku miso better. Not sure if there will be a next time though.

We came as a group of 5 for lunch on a Sunday. They're are quite busy - decent seating but tables are very close together - not friendly for mobile scooters. There was a long line up outside but tables turn around pretty quickly. Staff are very friendly and service is swift. You can view the menu and order from the QR codes at your table. We ordered 4 Aburasoba bowls - Chicken Curry, Roast Beef, Meat Lovers and the Original. We also got a Tonkotsu Ramen and some apps. The aburasobas are tossed in a sauce so it is a brothless dish. It was our first time trying this and it was interesting. Wish there was more sauce as the noodles are thicker. We had a child with us who loved the Tonkotsu Ramen and gives it a 4/5! We look forward to trying the rest of the menu next time!

This is a mixed review as we were interested in the soup-less ramen. The noodles: NIKUMORI ABURASOBA was quite good if you like spice. It was a good sized portion and I was able to keep half for lunch the next day. Being a "dry" noodle lent itself to being a good take-away option. The kids got the soupy tonkotsu ramen. They thought that it didn't taste as good as others that they've had and hence the 3-star review (average between our reviews) The appies: The gyozas were average. We didn't like the age tofu as the batter was too gummy. Soft shell crab was good.

Food 4/5 Service 4/5 Vibe 5/5 There wasn't a line up the day i went, so i ran in right away Service was quick and i loved the Japanese vibe decor! It is slightly tight, but not like snug. Both ramen bowls tasted good, very flavorful. I personally prefer the minced pork one over the meat lover ramen bowl. But the star of the show was definitely the Takoyaki. I think best portion for its price, LOVE IT! Overall 4/5!

First time trying abura soba. And I must say it was so good. I cannot explain how flavorful it is and adding vinegar and chillies and garlic it made it so good. Went here on a weekend..there is a line up but it was fast. Probably we only waited for 15mins. The staff is very friendly and the service is fast as well. The food serve fresh and hot. Appetizer are good to and it is shareable. Overall this place is definitely recommended. Will come back to try other on the menu.

We went to Kaijken restaurant after seeing the rave reviews on TikTok. We got there early for lunch before it got too crowded. The service was pretty friendly, but quick. We ordered the chicken karaage and it was pretty good. My ramen dish was good, but just ramen without the broth. Would we go back? Maybe if it doesn't get too busy,

Kajiken -- Lunch Set Worth the Early Arrival! Third visit to Kajiken since they opened and still coming back -- that says a lot! This time we tried their weekday lunch set and it was a solid experience overall. Timing tip: get there before 12pm. If we showed up at 12:15 and it would be a wait -- so go early if you want to be seated right away! I ordered the Meat Lover Lunch Set, +$5 which comes with a soup, a Japanese salad, and 3 takoyaki -- honestly my favourite part of the whole meal. The noodles themselves are tasty and what makes it fun is the condiments bar where you can add as much as you like, which I really appreciate. One thing to keep in mind -- it's a generous portion, and the flavor does drop once the noodles cool down, so don't let it sit too long. I ended up packing some up for my next meal, no complaints there! The pork slices looked great and had a nice char on them, but were on the drier side. We also shared a fried chicken -- average, but nothing that blew us away. Presentation across the board was clean and appealing though. It's not a cheap option for a weekday lunch, mine is $22.99 plus tax, total $25.98, overall a meal for 3 of us costs us around $74- Overall still a great spot, go for the lunch set value if u want to try. Go early, enjoy the noodles hot, and load up on those condiments!

This place is so busy in weekdays at 6pm. Don't even try to come in big group. Their signature dish is very tasty and I love lots of cilantro and green onion . After mix with the noodles and onsen egg, it balance well in the noodle. There is no soup but it taste good. I also got a fried oyster $8.99. It is good with mayo and not so spicy red sauce. This place is next to subway exit. I would take subway unless you are with bigger group. There is no free parking in that area.

Food is yummy. Service is friendly and prompt. Ambiance is nice but very small to the point that it is not very comfortable. But the noodles are very yummy so I will come back for more.

Initially looked busy and thought there may be a wait, but the line was actually for the dessert place that shares the same entrance. I usually switch up my order between the Clam Ramens (shio and shoyu). Can definitely say that these are always made consistent (at least on every visit I've had), so there's no surprise. My friend ordered the Avocado Vegetarian Ramen as part of a set. We were both intrigued by the taste of the broth. It was creamy, but not super thick, and had a fresh, vegetal taste. One miss this time was that my friend ordered a drink, but unfortunately it did not come out at all while we ate. We mentioned it when asking for our bill and asked that it just be cancelled, which the server was apologetic about. Interior is kept clean, which some table seating along both walls and also a long high-top bar (communal) in the middle. I've…read morebeen disappointed by countless bowls over the years, from Michelin-recommended shops in New York to overhyped social media darlings that make you wonder whether the people promoting them have ever had truly great tonkotsu ramen. Konjiki is good, far from great, but very solid. The broth has the right consistency with a satisfying richness, falling just a touch short of the deep, creamy intensity I personally look for. The noodles were cooked perfectly, maintaining just the right amount of bite. Nothing ruins a bowl of ramen faster than overcooked noodles. The soft-boiled egg was equally well executed, with a perfectly jammy center, and the chashu had excellent flavor and texture. My biggest criticism isn't what's missing....it's what's added. Like many ramen shops outside Japan, Konjiki includes pickled ginger, pickled takana, and braised bamboo shoots. For me, none of them improve the bowl. In fact, I think they distract from what should be the star of the show: the broth. In hindsight, I could have easily asked for them to be left out, but I've never really understood why they're included in the first place. Even so, this is a very respectable bowl of tonkotsu ramen and one I'd happily order again.

This one is right in my neighborhood and they were doing a buy-one-get-one promotion for Ajisen day, so I thought it was the perfect time to try it. The promotion was for their Original Ajisen ramen, which is $15.99 normally. For the normal price, I'd say the portion and flavour is a lacking. Of course, for the BOGO price, I was happy. I did also appreciate that they give a bigger portion of pork than other ramen places. However, the broth is pretty salty and I'm not a huge fan of when I can see the oil separating from the rest of the soup. The noodle texture and egg runniness were good. But all in all, I would not say it is worth the normal price of $15.99. The service was fine and pretty fast. However, since it was Ajisen Day, they likely planned for higher amounts of traffic so it may not be representative of a normal day.
