My lady friends and I were looking for a fun Japanese restaurant to try where they cook in front of you. Whatever you do don't go here. The manager or owner, whoever he is didn't really greet us just gave us menus and then walked us back to the back room where it was freezing cold. We were looking for someone to ask if they could put the heater on. After waiting almost 15 minutes for someone to come and acknowledge us. This one older lady came. I really don't think the restaurant business is for her. It took her forever to get our drink orders. She was not friendly, obviously not caring about getting a tip either. Took them forever to come back and get our food order. Finally the guy came and cooked our food. He was very nice and trying to interact with us and we appreciated that. The food was decent. The rice was very good. My steak was cooked well. All through our meal this white hideous looking robot was roaming around the restaurant playing Cardi B really loud. Who in the heck does that? Especially in a Japanese restaurant. It was so annoying. We were trying to talk and eat our food and this robot kept driving by playing loud music. I have never been at Hana Steak & Sushi. I will say that the food and service were magnificent. Today, after work, a group of us went to this location to celebrate a birthday. For majority of us, it was our first time. From the time we got there to when we left, we loved our experiences at this Japanese restaurant. Hana Steak & Sushi did NOT disappointed at all. The service we received was snappy and very polite, the chef was phenomenal AND entertaining. My coworkers and I enjoyed the soup and salad and the main menu items. I ordered of the Dinner Hibachi Combination. I picked the Vegetables which includes [Broccoli, carrot, mushroom, onion & zucchini], I substituted the Rice for Noodles and I also got the Filet Mignon & Chicken. Our chef did an excellent job getting our meat just the way we wanted it. We celebrated my coworker's birthday and the chef was very amusing as he embarrassed the birthday man a little, but went the extra mile to make him feel special with a "rice cake" and a candle. We arrived with a reservation, but did not need one because there were few people dining here. We soon learned why. We were handed filthy damaged menus, and the waitress was really rushing us to order, even though nobody was at our table yet except us. We waited white a long time and another family came and sat at the other end. The highlight of the evening was when a musical robot came to our table to deliver their daughter's French fries. Our chef came out wearing a mask. There was no "show." He just dumped the rice out and broke the egg and started cooking. He was wearing a paper mask, and we wondered if perhaps he was sick since he did not speak. I was hoping for the usual "egg roll, or rice volcano or some interaction, but there was none. My daughter had chosen this restaurant because she used to really enjoy the table showmanship. Very disappointing. He started the flames with a very big and hot fire, which frightened the child. It was a larger flame than we have seen in the past. We tried to cheer for it anyway, but he never acknowledged us except to quickly deal out the food. The food was 90% rice. It also tasted a bit "off", and neither of us ate very much and we had been really hungry. We did not look at the reviews before going here because my daughter loves the hibachi table cooking and it was nearby and it had been years since we had visited this type of restaurant. First time here and it is located in the Hamilton place area with off street parking. Went there with my family for my granddaughters 4-year birthday party. Reservation are for 7 and we are seated at about 15 minutes past. Place was kind of empty and I never did see anyone at the front desk to welcome you to the place. We also waited quite a while, and someone finally came and took our drink order. We sat around about 15 minutes more and someone came by to take our food orders. While waiting a while, we asked one of the waitresses who passed by if they knew when we would get served. She went off on us and said in a loud and somewhat frustrated voice that they are short staffed and only had two servers. Very RUDE!. Had my grand daughter not been looking forward to this dinner, I would have gotten up and left right then. After an hour, the chef showed up just as I was ready to just get up and pay for our drinks and salads and leave. Chef was very nice and treated the birthday girl great. Food was plentiful and also good. However, based on the lack of customer service or maybe it is "customer care", will never go back. No one met us when we arrived, and no one was there when we left. In fairness they took 15% off the bill. However, no apologies or even pointed out to me they discounted the bill, which would have been a nice thing to show they even cared about customers. They also did not tell me they automatically added 18% tip to the bill, which is normal for large parties but normally the server will let you know the tip has been included. I give it a 1 for customer service and 3 for food quality and price. But had the meal been free, I still would not go back. it would not make up for the lack of friendliness and customer service. Okay sorry y'all... this is a bit of a rant.. Two days ago, my boyfriend and I went to Hana Japanse Steakhouse to try something new! We were excited and the atmosphere in the restaurant was great. But the bartender was rude to us and made the whole experience a bust. We walked up front and told the manager what we had and that we barely touched the drinks we had waited 20 mins for. He said we owed nothing. I messaged the Facebook page and said "horrible service" this is their response. I can't help but think that the bartender is probably in charge of their Facebook page. Lol Everyone that knows me knows I always tip well as long as long I get good service bc I've been in the industry for so long. That girl would have gotten such a good tip had she not been so rude. The soup has 2 paper-thin slices of a mushroom and A LOT of garlic. I Love garlic but this was so overpowering you could not eat it. The fried rice and veggies were HORRID and undercooked. All the sauces were bland like they were watered down, with Absolutely no flavor! I ordered the scallops and I have never seen anyone try to flatten a scallop, but they do and it was like eating rubber! NEVER AGAIN. I knew it was probably going to bad when the menu stuck to the bar because it was so dirty. Then waited more than 30 minutes at the bar with no service. I would've left if not waiting for others in my party. The bartender didn't show up to take our order until my friend stopped her and asked her to as she hurried by. My sushi was so bad I couldn't eat it and I've never left sushi on a plate. Part of my party never received their food at all. They somehow lost our checks or got them all mixed up so that was another very long wait. The chefs weren't nearly as entertaining and personable as ones at other Japanese steak houses. Now the bad: While the presentation of the sushi rolls was gorgeous, taste was surprisingly lacking. I don't remember the name of the specialty roll I ordered, but it contained spicy tuna and was avalanched with... Bonito flakes, I think. If you have dreamed of experiencing dryness in a sushi roll, my friend, have I got news for you! It's rare that I don't finish a sushi roll and I couldn't do it in this case. The white tuna nigiri I ordered was similarly beautiful but somehow lacking in taste. Bon told me that the stir-fry vegetables in her Bento were too salty and I tried them. They were so salty, they turned my stomach. Really bad job, that. Like so many places, the Bento chicken was overdone, dry, and joyless. The California roll included in the Bento was small and, again, lacking in flavor. The fried rice in the Bento was firmly toeing the line of mediocrity. Service was lackluster. When the server brought our receipt, she forgot to return Bon's debit card and Bon had to call her back to ask her to retrieve it.
