I have to say that I would have given this Hana Sushi a full 5 stars if it wasnt for the dingy waitress ! I have had sushi and Japanese food in some of the best places in the world, and for a small place in Temecula, it was right up with some of my favorites. But after my son and I ordered a crunchy roll and 2 Hana combos A&B , the waitress somehow forgot to put in the second combo and we waited and waited for it and had to finally ask her what was taking so long. She never put in the second combo? And then was so busy at the cash register that we couldnt get her attention. Its important to LISTEN , even if your establishment is busy! At least write it down! Thank goodness the food was worthy, or I would have walked out! In their favor they did offer us a discount for the mistake and offered dessert on them, which if we werent so full from the generous roll and combos with Miso soup we would have appreciated. This was a zero star EXPERIENCE, the stars i put are for the food. I went at lunch time, the hostess scared me. She was very erratic and strange. It took 3 minutes for her to figure out where to sit me when there were plenty of options. When she did seat me she didn't give me a menu. I asked a passing employee for one and the response was "She'll bring it." and pointing at someone else and walking away. My lunch took 30 minutes to get to me. During my wait another woman found one of the hostesses and told her it had been 30 minutes and she still had no lunch and was ready to leave. The prices are way too high. My lunch "special" was 18.00 for 1.5 roll of sushi. No soup, salad, or edamame included. The sushi itself, i thought was VERY good. But i will not be back here. We eat sushi often and I was not impressed with Hana. Over priced and loose rolls poorly packed. Tried the lobster roll which was nicely presented but falling apart and the lobster was chewy. Baja California roll had some zip to it and decent flavor. Enjoyed the uniqueness of the shrimp ceviche roll...nice flavors and fresh. Tuna sushi was like 6-7 inches long...strange to eat and okay freshness. Most staff did not seem to understand English so when they delivered one roll which I thought and asked was the shrimp ceviche (getting a nod)...had another staff come by saying something and took it away. Final ding is the green tea ice cream which came out with lots of whipped cream and chocolate sauce. Ruined it. And the ice cream had hard bits of something in it. Green tea ice cream can have such a wonderful flavor to cap a nice sushi dinner...disappointing. Spent over $115 for 2 (with a $30 bottle of wine)...most expensive sushi I've ever had. read more

First time to this Hana Sushi. Very comfortable, clean and pretty setting inside. Customer service was great and attentive. Kyle our waiter was always checking on us and refilling our drinks. I am torn while writing this review. I want to give Jakes four stars.... The sushi rolls are creative, and beautifully presented, although a bit pricey....the staff is so sweet and attentive...the decor and cleanliness appear on point...and the food tastes really really good! But for some very odd reason, ever time me and my boyfriend eat here, we have exploding diarrhea within 30 minutes of leaving. I thought the first time this happened was a fluke...but the second visit it happened again, and my 18 year old son had diarrhea too....so we gave it a third chance and took our neighbors out for a celebratory dinner...we paid our bill, went back to our house for a glass of wine and BOOM!! It happened again! First with me, then the bf...then, our neighbors started feeling uncomfortable and made a mad dash home to their toilet. Unagi Don is legit! They usually don't have this in many sushi places. It's by far one of my favorite dishes when done right. It's plain and simple. Some unagi and rice with teriyaki sauce. On any day or night, when you walk into Hanna Sushi, owner is Jake, you will be greeted warmly. Always a greeting and a smile from all as you are seated at your preferred table or the sushi bar. The bar is always my first choice, so I can talk and laugh with the chefs. Not only is this establishment clean by the looks of the floors, tables, dinner ware and bathrooms, but the raw fish are bright eyed too. The color of the seafood is clear and clean as are the other ingredients used to make whatever you desire. Although I have stuck with the menu when ordering, I have been told by Jake that they will make up any order you like and charge accordingly. I don't know what happened tonight but it was terrible! I've dined at Jake's a dozen times but this time was awful. We sat at the sushi bar at 8pm, and several things we wanted were sold out. After ordering a couple starters, our chef disappeared and then the waitress asked if we wanted dessert. Um, no. We just got here, we're still eating...where's the chef? Had to flag her down for another sake. Another 10-15 minutes pass and the other sushi chef came and took our next order. Absolutely nothing was remarkable. When did Jake's turn into a run of the mill, lackluster sushi experience? Yes, I know it was a Tuesday, an hour and a half before closing, but sadly, it was also my birthday. Hana is a fantastic sushi restaurant. My only gripe, and I know I will be pretty alone on this one, is that the rolls are too big. I think it's great that they are so generous with portions. However, some of the rolls I literally cannot fit in my mouth. I understand that it's about layering flavor, but I can't really enjoy all of the flavors if I have to deconstruct part of the roll to eat it. Although the portions were pretty big in comparison to other sushi places I've been to, I felt that the quality of the fish was not as fresh as the ones I've had at other places. I do prefer sushi when sitting at the bar but we did order the Mexican Roll by recommendation from many yelpsters and was definitely not disappointed. It was the best part of the meal. Tried the cowboy roll but not really a favorite of mine. All in all the experience was mediocre. If I do ever go back it will probably be for the Mexican Roll. read more

People here are so polite. The menu had variety of selections from sushi, sashimi, bento and soup. I wanted to order all of the sushi rolls but I know I won't be able to finish it. I opt for Ichiban roll with spicy mayo on the side and albacore sauce on the side. Salmon and tuna on top with avocado and spicy tuna on the inside. It's fresh and tasted so good. My other half ordered the tempura with rice. He enjoyed it too. The shrimp wasn't overcooked and the crispness is just perfect.
