Stopped in for happy hour today, but unfortunately the experience was less than. Upon walking in I was not greeted and stood there for about two minutes while watching the chefs turned facing the television. After being seated at the bar I ordered a bowl of white rice and spicy garlic edamame, the chef then asked if I was ready to order and proceeded to make my spicy tuna roll. I received the roll after a few minutes, but my edamame was nowhere to be found. A waitress then asked if I ordered the edamame and realized nobody had yet made it. After nearly finishing my roll and rice I then received the edamame (not very spicy) and proceeded to finish my meal. I've noticed the last few times eating here the atmosphere, organization, and overall quality of the restaurant have gradually decreased. There are plenty of sushi restaurants in Temecula and I think it's time I give my money to one that will appreciate my business and have a welcoming atmosphere. read more

First the food at Hana is very good. However I'll be sticking to DoorDash with them. Service was so horrible we left after over an hour of waiting for 2 rolls. When we finally inquired about our meal, the server said it would be around another 10 minutes. We pointed out that we were the only ones to not have gotten our order including large parties that came after us. She said that it was dependent on who got our order ticket. I'm assuming this means they forgot our ticket. There was no attempt to rectify the situation and they charged us for our ice teas and said sorry. At the very least can we get free ice tea for having sat in a restaurant for over an hour and leaving without actually eating? read more

We are from out of town and staying at Pechanga RV Park! About 8 of us decided to go to eat Japanese food! We all love this type of food, however we had quite a few issues with this Restaurant. First the Miso soup was cold. We asked our waitress to warm it or get new, she said," Wait"! It took her till the main food came to finally bring it back! She couldn't understand us or we her! She was confused and had a hard time taking our order and bringing it! The portions were small and the teriyaki chicken was dry and tough! Couldn't eat it! The restaurant was very noisy and small. This is the second Hana where this scenario played out. We placed an order through Doordash. It shows up to the house on time, but one item is missing. This is the restaurant's fault, not Doordash, so I politely call Doordash support, and they kindly say they will call the restaurant to submit the missing item for redelivery. After coming off of hold, the Doordash Support employee tells me that the restaurant hung up on her, that maybe they were busy, but that she'd resubmit the order for redelivery. So Doordash sends another delivery driver to pick this up, where he is forced to wait, and then the order is cancelled by the restaurant. The Hana on Ynez does the same thing. The food was paid for, it's on the receipt, you didn't pack the order with all the food ordered, and then refuse to make the rest of the food. Why? I don't know. You aren't going to be out any money or food, because it's paid for, and you never made it. You've lost a customer of over a decade. If you can't understand how to work with food delivery services, then perhaps you should stop offering that service. read more

Presentation of the sushi platters was fantastic! I have no complaints about the sushi or the service. However, I was disturbed by the grunge in the bathroom. I realize this has nothing to do with the food but at the same time doesn't it?! The bathrooms were filthy. The toilet bowls were dripping with black/green mold inside the bowl. The point I'm trying to make is that on the surface the establishment looks clean but if they don't do deep cleaning in the lavatory then it's quite possible they don't deep clean in the kitchen either. Im from LA and there's TONS OF sushi joints and my expectation was low coming here as Temecula is a 'suburb' city. Boy I was wrong, the price was about the same as LA restaurants but quality.. wow... the sushi nigiri cuts were huge, easily 4 pieces into 2 pieces (super great deal) and quality was very fresh! Had the dragon roll as well and it was delicious with cool decor on the plate. Was in the area gambling and cashed it out here after, and it was worth it. Had some great sushi and drove back to LA! Not sure why people complain about the price, the quality is very good for the buck! Would be back to this spot in the future :) read more

Jake's was awesome, I really had a great time. We had the dragon roll, teriyaki chicken box, and a bottle of ginjo sake. The dragon roll was fantastic. A lot of food for the price, the eel was cooked to perfection! Sweet and done very well. The box is a great deal! So, my initial take on the restaurant was very inviting and warming. Sat down and ordered Salmon roll($5.96), Las Vegas roll($12.95), Crunch roll ($11.95)and a California Hand Roll($4.95). Let's get into the taste, the salmon rolls tasted exactly what you expected them to taste not fishy not too much rice with a hint of wasabi. Then, California hand roll was very full. Look like a snow cone, with a hearty helping of seafood on top. But all in all the taste was very enjoyable. Now to the nitty gritty first the Las Vegas roll, my first initial take the Las Vegas roll was "oh shit, it's green" don't let the sight fool you it was very delicious and just the right amount of crunchy. Add with the right amount of sushi. And lastly, end with a crunchy roll. The crunchy roll, had a little crunchy flakes on top obviously. Ouch, dont leave bad review here, even if its true, or Kim Jong-Un will git ya. I have to say, no one has ever responded to a legit and proven bad experience like this (see owners response). Here they screw up the bill, charge too much, service is absolute garbage (do your own dishes), and fish is very farm-raised basic quality at a high quality price. I go to fish markets too, I buy the best in the world from Alaska, Northern Japan, Spain, US East cost, New Zealand, etc. I know good fish. Just had sushi at Hana's on Ynez Road. Many times better quality fish. Price more reasonable. Service better, more smiles and lots of "do you need anything", and best of all, the chef gave us an awesome custom baked roll that I am still now dreaming about. What makes me most upset about Jake's Hana Sushi is the fact that I gave them FREE advice, at my expense, that will only help them and not me. I remember when Oishi opened up, I gave great advice to the first owner (not the current) and he gave us a free bottle of sake. I went back every week ($150+ a visit). All I want out of all my comments is a good Japanese Sushi restaurant locally where they treat you with the respect you earned, or paid for, for that matter. In 2009 and prior, we went to Jake's Hana Sushi many times, spending $500/month, and still got neglected, unrecognized, and treated like lowly cattle. And nothing is different today. read more

*Overall 4.5 Stars* Consistently good sushi and sashimi for years now, as this location spawned the Hana Sushi franchise. Take note this is the best location out of the 5 or 6 different places they now have because, the owner is at this location most of the time. I've been fortunate to have sushi in Japan and all around the USA, including Hawaii and Guam. Outside of Japan this is one of the best places for sushi I've ever been to. The freshness of the ingredients, quality of the food, and unique flavors stand apart from the rest. The owner/ sushi chef was trained for over a decade in Hawaii by a sushi master from Japan. If a few bucks is too much for generous portions of top quality sushi or $10-$15 is too much for an amazing roll, there is a McDonalds around the corner. This place is always packed full of satisfied customers. PS- With the coupon and reward card, two piece sushi is in the $4 range and a premium roll is in the $12-$13 dollar range. However, we are in the desert and it's the best I've found in Temecula; I guess you can only expect so much out here and you get what you pay for. Next time I will get hand or cut rolls and nothing cooked. I tried the Viking roll and it wasn't my favorite. The Spicy Tuna was good, definitely better with their awesome Ponzu. Had lunch at sushi Hana a few days ago. I really can't get over how expensive everything is. The place is nice, the outside patio is relaxing, service was fine. But the sushi rolls range from 9.50 to 16 dollars. yes 16 DOLLARS! i was shocked. When we got our rolls they were just average! i mean, they were good..but nothing that blew my mind! Everything we have ordered from here has met or exceeded our expectations. I am a firm believer that you get what you pay for and the higher price point at this restaurant proves it. If you want cheap sushi, then go to the grocery store next door. If you want high quality sushi with great customer service, then this is your place. I'm also happy they did the expansion to allow more room in the dining area. I was there during early lunchtime on Thursday. The place wasn't busy and there were 3 waitresses serving the hall. They were very inefficient to a point it got me irritated. Gave us a huge bill which was not ours, I immediately tried getting their attention but they just would not even look towards us. Well, finally after about 10 minutes of waving, one lady finally acknowledged us. The party with larger bill already left during this delay. Well, I tried to help. It's their loss due to lack of service/management. As Good as Sushi gets in Temecula! So you have gone to places in L.A, O.C and S.D that can put this place to shame, but let's face it....this is the Temecula Valley. Somewhere along the 15 and the 91 interchange the food loses the same quality of taste you find in the big cities. Maybe it's the dryness in the Riverside County air or the idea in our minds that we missed the San Diego County Line by just a mile and we have to live with the idea of telling our friends and relatives that we live in the dreaded I.E! Whatever your Idea of "good sushi" is...Hana does not disappoint. The freshness and presentation of the food is always up to par and the staff and sushi chef's at this location will always make you feel welcomed and appreciated. It is not the cheapest place to get sushi nor do they offer the "all you can eat" However what you do get is a vast array of good quality sushi offered in rolls, hand rolls, salads and Nigiri that is hard to come by in the Valley. I have three favorite rolls at this place: the Spanish roll, Amber roll, and my all time favorite...the Mexican Roll. The Salmon and tuna Nigiri is always fresh in taste and texture and the edamame is some of the best you can order in this town. Although the prices may seem a little steep...Jake and the boys always come through with a high end tasting, quality Sushi which to me is worth every penny on my debit card! From day 1, when I saw that it was served to stand on it's own merit, I have never been disappointed. The minute I see any sauce put on my sushi, I think they're trying to hide something. Next time I'm going for the sashimi, which is 9 pieces. I can only dream about the size of them. The sweet shrimp we had yesterday were gigantor.
