It was exciting finding this place! It was both a little market with Japanese and Korean products, but you can also order food, too. We ordered some sushi, and bento box. The bento was delicious with amazing plating! Highly recommend going here for some good food, and to do some groceries!

Hanamaru Market and Bento is a cute little market in Pape Village. Among their take-out menu, they also sold a variety of Japanese and Korean snacks and pantry items. We came in to order a Salmon Dragon Roll, Spicy Chicken Karaage, and Unagi Bento. The wait time was about 30 minutes, which we didn't mind. There was also a small line forming at the entrance so it was definitely gaining attraction in the neighbourhood. They have a wall section inside where they would typically sell pre-made sushi rolls. Sadly, they were all sold out when we got there, which goes to show the customer's have a craving for good fresh sushi in this neighbourhood. The Salmon Dragon Roll was a decent sized portion. All the ingredients seemed fresh as they hit many palate notes with every bite. Definitely hit the spot with my sushi cravings. May opt to try the torched roll next time. The Spicy Chicken Karaage came as a decent 6 pieced portion. It was still piping hot, crispy, and coated in a sweet, spicy sauce. I saw Unagi was on the menu and couldn't resist ordering the Unagi Bento, which came with banchan (small side dishes) and Miso soup. The banchan was presented very nicely, with a variety of items such as slices of hard boiled egg, shitake mushrooms, pickled garlic clove, and much more. The Unagi was nicely grilled and sauced and hit the sweet spot. Despite being a bit on the pricey side, overall it was a pleasant experience and would come back for other items to support this small business.

Came by here for dinner. The rolls were so big and filling and very delicious! We had the crunchy dynamite and the torched salmon dragon, both were very good. The bento box is very delicious too, the side we're particularly unique, although the mayo was a little heavy handed. Overall, highly recommended!

Nice food. One of the best sushi in Toronto and the price is really reasonable. There are a lot of Asian snacks too interesting place.

No one else was there that day except the front person helping us and people in the kitchen, no guests. He was friendly and did a little small talk, and said that they included an extra gochujang sauce for us to try (you get only one per bibimbap, but we did like dipping the kimbap in the soy sauce = not included). They make the soy sauce on site. We got Japchae, two types of bibimbap (one per person), and some kimbap for the kid. They are all tasty but I prefer my bibimbap with a little more flavour. This one, I only tasted that flavour when I added the gochujang sauce, but in other bibimbaps I like, the flavour is cooked into the toppings. The Japchae is good and I like that it doesn't taste strongly of garlic. It has wood ear mushroom and carrot and sesame. The kimbap was a bit more on the Bland side as well. We have some leftovers for lunch tomorrow. 9 items on menu and each meal is about $17-19 with tofu an extra $3 and bulgogi an extra $4. Friendly service though!

We decided on paying the $10 extra per person to avail of their premium menu which added Prime rib steak, AAA striploin, Takoyaki, Butterfish, just to name a few. We dined on a weekday mid-afternoon time of around 4PM so the service turnaround time was conveniently quick. It did not take too long from order placement until the time our orders were brought to our table. I enjoyed most of the food items they have available especially the sashimi, butterfish, and the premium meats. Their BBQ sauce is OK. The 7 spices powder they have available on the side is surprisingly good. It enhanced the taste of the sometimes dried up cooked meat. What was disappointing was their order of buttered corn. It does not seem to have any butter added. Their Octopus balls or Takoyaki was also a little sub-par. I understand it has more to do with how they prepared it, but their Takoyaki was flat at the base. It was not a round ball. The sauce, toppings, and fillings was also not among the best I have had. Another thing is I wish they have some Gochujang or Samjjang available. You can order lettuce, kimchi, and the meats for Korean BBQ. It is just disappointing that you don't get the full Samgyupsal experience because of the missing dip. Service we received was excellent. The waiter constantly checked up on us and cleared out empty plates. He also replaced the grill once it became too greasy or oily. We were supposed to receive a voucher of about *$35 because our total bill went over $100. I gave my phone number but never received that text confirmation. Our waiter said that if we were to dine again, I can provide my phone number to avail that credit.

The reps there were very attentive and polite and really made us feel comfortable. Although, I did find the menu short, it still did the job for the price. The restaurant ambiance is a typical hot Spot place. The seating isn't overcrowded and the lighting was perfect. They offer complimentary ice cream for dessert. The experience was good overall but because the menu was short I don't think I would be coming back.

The second visit was mid-morning on a weekday. Since the store is rather large you're still unlikely to come into close contact with another customer. The aisles are wide and what I found different about this location was that there's a lot of refrigerated products within the centre of the store and not only on the periphery. There is a single queue for the cashiers and an employee holding balloons let those in line know if a cashier was free to assist them in checking out. It was a bit of a wait but if you're shopping with another person one can wait in line while the other continues to browse.
