    Cheese Kimbap (up close)
    Kathleene S.

This place is a not-so-secret hole in the wall. For those who know, KNOW. And for those who don't yet know, need to. It's only a hole in the wall because it's located in the sketchy basement food court of Aura (the same building as IKEA). You would never know it's there unless you visited or if someone told you about it, or you're me and saw it on Google maps. It's a food court stall. The food court is always empty, so there is always a seat available. The food court seating is relatively well kept and maintained so it's not trashed with dirt or garbage. They sell Korean food and some sushi. I'm still exploring their menu, but so far my favourite items to order: 1. Yangnyeom chicken on rice (comes with a small side of pickled radish) - usually if you order Korean fried chicken, you can expect to pay $18+ and it doesn't come with rice. This is ~$13 and it comes with rice! The flavour is also good and not too sweet or salty or spicy. 2. Cheese kimbap (comes with a small side of pickled radish) - I didn't expect to like this, but the cheese they use somehow works??? I know the guy was surprised I wanted to order it lol I've also ordered the gamjatang and I liked it. It was served in a comparable portion to other places but cheaper price. Service is friendly; seems like a family business. I wouldn't expect over the top service, but it's like being served by a friend or a cool acquaintance. I will definitely be back and recommend others try too!

Such a good hidden gem with fresh, made-to-order gimbap. The prices are quite affordable and the food is always fresh. They're hidden in the Aura food court, and while it's quiet there, this stall still gets quite busy during the lunch hour. You can call ahead to avoid waiting there.

This was a very surprising find. We were in the area and were super hungry. We saw all the great reviews and decided we will eat here. This is the basement of the aura building. Its just a small shop in an odd food court. Its truly a mom and pop shop. You see lots of people coming and speaking to the friendly owner. That itself was an indicator that place has its loyal customer base. We asked for extra spicy but of course in Korean food, spicy takes the form of sweet. Their gochujang is flavorful and is probably homemade. We enjoyed that we also got miso soup which was really good! We loved the quantity and the taste. Veggies were crunchy and the egg was perfectly runny. We didn't sit in the food court. We took our food to the college park area and enjoyed. Now we can't wait to come back and try other things on the menu.

Was in the area so dropped in for some Korean food takeout. Got the pork bone soup, original kimball, spicy rice cake, and the bulgogi with rice. Came out to be $40 a good price. Pork bone soup was tasty and had four tender and good sized pieces of meat with very tasty soup flavour and comes with rice 5/5 Kimball were huge and fresh 4/l5 Bulgogi with rice was delicious 5/5 Spicy rice cake was overly spicy than the usual and the rice cake was over cooked and mushy. Maybe it is because I got takeout but not a fan of this dish 2-5 Overall good find and good value l! One of my fave pork bone soups!

A hidden gem at the food court, the tuna gimbap was fresh and delicious, it was a good deal with and its large portion. Chicken bibimbap was amazing too, it mixed with various vegetables and the aroma with kimchi just burst out with every bite. I've visited this store two times , awesome!

Atmosphere & Service: Cute mum & pop shop at the lower commercial level of Aura. Food court style seating - think of First Markham Place or Pacific Mall. The couple always greets you with a smile!! Food: I've been going to this place for the past 5 years and the food served has been consistent in flavour and proportion. The pork bone soup is my go to here. There's just enough spice in the broth and they don't shy away with pork. The soup also comes with a side of kimchi and white rice. Price: Approximately ~$11. More affordable than most places. They also accept credit card here.

PLEASE EAT HERE!!! If it wasn't for Yelp, I would never have guessed that this place existed. It's located in the "food court" of a "mall" that's literally dead - windows barred and everything. Plus, it's on the lower floor so I feel like no one comes here by chance, ever. Which is extremely unfortunate because the food is very, very good. I've only ever had the bibimbop section of the menu, but was quite impressed. Plus, it's packed with veggies and brown rice and seems pretty healthy to boot! Portions are also awesome for the price and is definitely filling. The woman (I think this is a family restaurant) serving me was so nice. When I walked up I was welcomed immediately. She also took the time to introduce each of the sauces (get the traditional one and combine it with hot sauce for the best effect) and some of the ingredients to me. Given that this is a fast food place in the middle of downtown, I don't think I can stress how rare this sort of experience is. Really really hope they get more traffic! I know I will be back for sure. It's literally a 5 minute walk from Eaton - skip the food court there and come here, people. :D

Combo B $10.50 (brown rice and 3 choices - fried chicken, dumplings and beef bulgogi).

Sushi and BBbop is one of the few occupied spaces in the Shops at Aura food court. I bought a combo here recently and it was great, especially for the price! I got Combo B which is brown rice and 3 choices. I choose beef bulgogi, fried chicken and vegetable dumplings ($10.50). It was a large portion for the price. The beef was soft and tender and not overly sinewy. The chicken was lean (not gristly) and lightly battered and had a nice spicy kick to it. I got 5 fried dumplings. They tasted like they had that soy protein/textured vegetable protein/faux ground meat in them. They were ok, but I was expecting real vegetables in them. The rice was a bit soft and mushy, but it was still ok. The couple working there were super nice. I think this place is great for Korean fast food.

Run down food court with poor ventilation. The only positive thing is the portion size of the black dragon roll that I ordered. Otherwise, the sushi fell apart and the rice was dry and not cooked enough. Avocados were not ripe either. It wasn't that cheap at 12$ a roll for a food court as well. Such a disappointment for the high reviews on Yelp!

    Pork bone soup

I liked what I got which was pork bone soup. It was tasty, and the portion was generous. Why I gave it 4 stars: It took way too long for them to get my soup ready. It took 20+ minutes which is usually longer than a restaurant would take to make a meal. I was the only person who sat in that food court, I received no free wifi or even phone signals. The ambient is dull if you decided to eat there alone. In general, I would go back to eat again with a friend ( seems like the owners are very nice and they need support because barely any people know about this food court).

    Cindy D.

I asked the people there which sushi rolls they recommend and they said that the dynamite and the salmon and tuna with avocado rolls were good so I chose the latter. It was pretty pricey for 1 roll, which was about $9 for 8 pieces. Maybe it's a standard price but I'm used to AYCE prices. They bring the food straight to where you're sitting and that's a first for me. The sushi was amazing, I enjoyed it but I don't think I'd come back to get the same roll because of the price but maybe something else.

I frequent here every few days, and I believe this place deserves a lot of credit and can often be overshadowed by the popular Kaijiu. If you are in the area and have a Korean comfort food hankering this is the place to visit. It offers a great selection including stews, combo plates (pick 3/4/5 items), bibimbap, and sushi options. Although I have never tried the sushi, I can attest the rest will leave you stuffed and satisfied. At this price point however, I could be getting side dishes and water with my order at any other Korean restaurant, but I'll let this go since this is a food court restaurant after all. Give this place a try next time you drop by at the Aura food court (if ever)!

I was starting to get really hangry and irritated after walking around the city all day. We started with Korean beer and shots of Jinro Is Back Soyu. It was a good idea. Overall the food was quite good. I recommend everyone to check this restaurant out for themselves. The Korean pancake with seafood and vegetables was huge and much crispier than the one I've tried before. My beef tartare bibimbap was perfect. Just thinking about it makes me want to have it right now. The sizzling hot plate with pork and squid also looked very impressive. It must have been delicious as well, because one of my companions ate the whole thing with no problem. The spicy shredded beef brisket stew/soup 'Yukgaejang' was something which i wouldn't survive, but my man finished everything to the last drop. Hence we entered Jin Dai Lae. Good decision (yes, I am patting my back). Entree pricing was $3 to $4 lower than Markham/Richmond Hill. Portion was so big that you would be full, and might have to doggy bag. Most importantly, food tasted good. Short ribs stew had many pieces of beef. Squids hot plate was saucy. It wasn't too spicy, so it was good for me (menu didn't have a chilli sign either). For people who like it hot, you can ask for some chilli sauce.
