Curry Cream Udon with Katsu Veggie Yakisoba
    Tiffany H.

Omg! Just get the curry udon with chicken katsu it's amazing Japanese home style cooking just how I like it. The dish comes on a sizzling plate and it's so bubbly and creamy. You order first at the counter and then sit down. There's not a ton of searing- we got there at 6pm which was empty but by 7 the tables filled up. Ambiance is casual, no wait service but great for a quick meal

Let's get one thing straight with Ashiya - great customer service and large portions of food that will leave you full. The thing that was lacking for me was flavor, which is crucial for any memorable restaurant. My wife and I were greeted profusely when we came in, and we instantly felt welcomed into the small but mighty establishment. I ordered the creamy curry udon noodles while my wife got the beef donburi. The creamy curry udon noodles was good - but in my opinion, I thought it lacked substance. I was looking for a beautiful blend of salty and sweet in each bite, but the curry flavor was so overpowering that I didn't taste the cream at all. The teriyaki had a great crunch, but it desperately needed some sort of sweetness to be paired with it. Not a bad dish, but it just felt a bit empty. The donburi was HUGE and busy, which was a delight. Great portions for sure! A mixture of kimchi, beef, and rice can never go wrong. The only fault to this dish was that the beef was rather tough - either it was overcooked or it was old meat, which I view as a cardinal sin. Overall, the mixture of Korean and Japanese cuisine was a nice flair and definitely unique. The amount of food is great too, with each plate being stacked to the brim. But when it comes to quality, I think there are better out there. Rounding up to a 4-star review though - bonus points to the friendly staff!

I haven't been here in years, and the flavors are just as I remembered. I love their creamy kimchi udon. It is so good. The noodles are chewy and the sauce is the perfect balance of creamy, sour, and salty. You also have the option to add chicken katsu to it. We also tried the chicken katsu Japanese curry. It was okay, but I don't really like Japanese curry. Those who do would love this dish. I will be back to try more katsu dishes because the chicken is fried really well. It was very tender and juicy. The staff was friendly, and we got our food in about 15 minutes. There is also plenty of parking.

Probably my new favorite restaurant in Lynnwood! I'm surprised it took me this long to try Ashiya and now I must go more frequently. A little hole in the wall Japanese restaurant serving up the yummiest Japanese dishes. They have a variety amount of things to choose from and their dishes are a good portion for a decent price! I think a must get here is the creamy udon with chicken katsu. They add cheese to the top of the katsu which I enjoyed (I think they used parmesan, which gives it a little saltiness, so might not be for everyone). The sauce was the perfect amount of creaminess and the noodles were cooked perfectly. It tasted a bit different from other creamy udon dishes I tried at other places, like there was a bit more depth in the sauce. I wish the broccoli wasn't super soft but that's personal preference. Overall, I couldn't stop eating it! My boyfriend got the chicken teriyaki and katsu combo platter. It had a generous serving of meat. He enjoyed this dish as well. The people working here are super kind. I felt so welcomed coming in. Highly recommend this place if you are in Lynnwood!

We are from the SF Bay Area and saw this place on yelp while researching where to eat. Trust me when I say this restaurant does not disappoint. We arrived this morning and made the trip to have our first meal at this local establishment. We were greeted right away when we walked in and you order at the counter. The food was brought directly to the table. Everyone was polite and helpful. The place is small but big enough to seat small to medium groups. It is nothing fancy but it is cute and quaint. We tried the Omurice and the Kimchi Cream Udon. Both are amazingly delicious. The Omurice is not the runny egg but that didn't detract from the sheer deliciousness of the dish. It was a huge portion and if I must repeat myself, absolutely delicious. - 9/10 and far better than what we have locally. The Kimchi Cream Udon was rich, creamy, and had bold flavors and fun textures. It is a must try dish - 9.5/10 If the dishes we had are an example of how the other menu items would be, try everything and come here often. Definitely worth the visit.

I was in the area and hungry. Randomly checked out this place. Nice, clean, and friendly. I tried creamy kimchi udon and it was super good! A bit spicy but just the right amount to enjoy it! Complimentary hot tea was a nice gesture :) I would come back for sure!

We were in the area and decided to stop by this restaurant based on strong Yelp reviews. It did not disappoint. Located in an unassuming location right off a busy road, we weren't sure because all the blinds were down. Once inside, we were warmly greeted by the cashier and the amazing smell of food. The menu is pretty extensive. It took us awhile to pick our lunch. I opted for the seafood champon and my daughter went for the creamy udon. Both were divine. Portions are really good and I feel that you get good value for your money. The champon was delightful loaded with seafood. Like actually seafood. I'm impressed. My daughter devoured her dish and was equally satisfied. What a find. We will definitely stop by again. Obvi, we highly encourage this place!

Good food, good portions, and friendly service. I really like the creamy taste in some of the dishes. The only small issue is that some items (everything I tried) are a little salty, but overall the food is still very tasty. Little small place. I would come back again.

It has lots of options, the service is excellent. The only part of the food I would say that isn't as good is the chicken cream udon, it's pretty heavy and very cheesy. The noodles are also very soft, the chicken could be less dry. Otherwise, very large portions and very tasty. It has a good amount of tables inside.

I saw their viral creamy udon dishes on TikTok and was blown away! I ordered delivery and the food was well packaged and came quickly, and I didn't really know if it was just hype or legit. I got the kimchi cream udon and the curry cream udon with chicken katsu and they were CRAZY good I couldn't stop eating them both! The udon was the perfect texture and the cream sauce covered it perfectly. They both have unique flavors so you have to get both! I was worried I wouldn't like the kimchi one as much because it was all veg but the kimchi itself was SO GOOD and flavorful that I couldn't stop eating it. I was even enjoying the bites of broccoli and I don't even like broccoli. I highly recommend!!

Friendly service. Many food varieties to choose. Okay for small group of people. The downside in my opinion is food flavor. It's in between "okay to blend". It may be spicy but lack of flavor. It may be sweet but lack of flavor. None of the food that we ordered was deep in flavors. Pretty pricey with the thin food flavor that we got.

Many of my friends who live up north around Lynnwood and Bothell have always hyped up Ashiya to be one of the best places for a casual Japanese meal, so I finally let them take me here to try for myself. I ordered the Chicken Karaage Curry that came with a side of rice and a salad. The chicken was cooked well, but I felt like it could have used more seasoning in the batter before it was fried, but still good for what it is. Curry was pretty standard, although having bits of vegetables would've been nice. The sides were decent too. I think the food was made nicely, I would come back here again. But I definitely would like to try out the other dishes they had as well, the creamy pasta dish my friend ordered looked a lot more exciting.

This place is a hidden gem. My sisters asked me where I wanted to go for my birthday and Yelp has lead me here. It's located in a little plaza, not too far from the freeway with ample parking space that shares with other businesses. Upon arrival, you will see the menu on the big screen tvs. Everything looks really good, so we were quite indecisive on what to order. The decor in the place was so cute, they even brought out the cute plates for us to use. We ordered the calamari, chicken creamy udon and the tan tan noodles. The calamari was so good. It had the perfect amount of batter and you can taste the squid. The aioli sauce was a nice touch to it. It came out pipin' hotttt. The spicy tan tan ramen had tons of toppings, they definitely did not skimp, although it would have been nice if the eggs wasn't fully cooked. The chasiu was spectular and thicccck. The show stopper for me was the chicken creamy udon on the hot plate. It was hot and steamy! I've never had perfect broccoli and carrots in a dish before. It wasn't mushy--and the chicken was surprisingly flavorful and not dry. The udon and creamy sauce was chef's kiss. The staff here was really nice and kind. I would totally come back here and recommend this place to others. Do not sleep on this place. I'm glad we were lead here as now we will have options when we head north. Go check this place out, you won't regret it!

The lady who was serving us was very friendly and came back a bunch of times to ask if we need more tea. We were there way longer than how much we spend time at typical BBQ place, but she didn't seem to mind, which was nice. We had the beef combo, cold noodles, and squid and veggie stir fry, and that was way more than we needed. We thought the combo comes with only two bowls of rice but they added another one, seeing that we are party of three. That was nice. Banchan was pretty good and I kind of wish I ate more of it before the meat arrived because I got full from other items quickly. Cold noodles were average. Of the four kinds of beef in the combo, I liked three of them except for one (I believe it was the NY steak) - one item was leaner/dryer than other NY steak I had elsewhere. The combo also came with individual sauces (two types - salt in oil and sweet-ish sauce). The sweet sauce was quite forgettable and so I kept dipping the meat in the salt in oil sauce, but I wish they offered other sauce...maybe like soy sauce based ones or just plain salt. The squid stir fry was spicy and I enjoyed it. The combo also came with tofu soup, which was also pretty good. Overall, there were minor stuff that didn't go with my preference, but I had a nice time at WuJu!

We also got take out which included a beef soondobu (tofu stew) and bibimbap and it was very nice that they included a portion of banchan, nicely separated by little sample paper cups. Everything was packed neatly and was hot. The soondobu was tasty and came with purple rice which was nice. Bibimbap was also good but I wish that they provided a little more sauce to go with it. Overall, this is a solid place.

Great place for korean food. This is not a korean bbq place, they serve other korean classics…read more There's a couple menu items where it seems like they're always sold out no matter what time or day I go, so that's disappointing but otherwise they have lots of other options to order. For appetizers I get the kimchi pancake (although it's huge and you can order it for an entree) or japchae. For entree ,I like getting the Sullungtang/Seoullongtang soup or spicy pork bulgogi donburi. The donburi comes in stone pot so the food comes out sizzling hot. If you order an entree it comes with complimentary side dishes that they also refill. The waiter is also nice and attentive. The tables and inside bathroom are also always clean.
