I am writing this review/complaint against Hand Surgery Associates due to the advice and lack of care and compassion my wife received from Dr. Heyman. I would also like to document the poor customer service I received trying to resolve this issue. In regards to my wife's experience with Dr. Heyman, she was very disappointed for the following reasons: 1) The three office visits she had with Dr. Heyman felt rushed and the combined total of the visits lasted no longer than 20 minutes. 2) The Doctor prescribed a generic finger brace that irritated my wife's finger to the point she could no longer wear the brace which prevented and delayed her finger to heal properly. 3) The time between the first visit and second visit was over 4 months. It turns out the type of injury she had needed to be addressed immediately, since time was of the essence. Since the 2nd appointment was scheduled four months later, she did not address her injury in a timely fashion. I guess my question is why did the doctor not schedule the second appointment sooner? 4) The injury she sustained is now permanent. In regards to working with the office staff, this was another extremely frustrating experience. The office member I had the most difficulty working with was Natalie. We talked a couple of times, and she offered a $49.00 discount off the $511.00 my wife spent for the three office visits. I refused that amount, since the discount in my opinion was not worth the type of care my wife received. What made my experience even worse with Natalie was how she completely ignored emails I sent her when I tried to get the exact amount that we paid Dr. Heyman. Previously, she did send me information with all the costs, but it was not broken down in a way that I could understand, so I asked her in simple terms how much we paid. She did not even have the courtesy to respond back and was patronizing to me through our communications. Due to poor care I felt my wife received from Dr. Heyman, I asked for some type of reimbursement for the reasons I listed above. We are by no means trying to take advantage of Dr. Heyman, because he did spend some time with my wife. However, we feel the amount of money spent was not justified and are very unhappy she was not told to come in sooner after her first visit. As I stated before, her injury is now permanent. We even filed a BBB complaint in which Hand Associates did not even have the courtesy to respond. Their rating went down to a B-. The BBB even wrote the following to give me advice on how to handle the Hand Associates, "In the event your complaint remains unaddressed, we suggest you consider writing to the State Attorney General's Office or the Department of Consumer Protection, We also suggest you consider pursuing legal means. " I am considering their recommendations now. Based on the Hand Associates unwillingness to work with us especially after the poor care my wife received, I wanted to share our miserable experience we encountered with Hand Associates and let people know what type of service you could possibly receive when an issue comes up. The true character of a business is revealed when problems arise, and how that business handles difficult situations. In our particular case, this company failed miserably in numerous regards.

I saw Dr Eric Britton on March 22, 2018, for tumors in my hand. I DID NOT LIKE this surgeon. I went to him with a diagnosis already. I had just had a golfball sized tumor removed from my foot 3 months earlier, and the same exact tumor was now in my hand. Same signs and everything. He treated me like I don't know anything AND acted like the Dr. that took out and diagnosed the original foot tumor was wrong and the diagnosis was wrong because it was just too rare. He had lab reports and refused to believe them. Keep in mind he still hadn't looked at me or my hand. He was mad I had seen a surgeon for the tumor instead of a dermatologist. That if I had, like this one on my hand (he FINALLY LOOKED AT IF FOR ONE MOMENT) would go away on its own... this is how it went: Him: "granuloma annulare are not surgically removed and they go away on their own and you see a dermatologist. Are you sure that's what he said you have? Me: yes. It's in the report. Him:Oh... yes. Well.. did you see it had to go to multiple labs to get a diagnosis because it's so rare? Me: yes. Him:hmm Him: I guess we will MRI just Incase and the. I will call you. He ordered the MRI - without contrast- which if he had read the other Dr. noted he would have seen he needed that to see the damn thing correctly. So after that he called me and told me it was in my head. It's now been almost 3 months and I have lost use of my hand and it hurts so badly I cry daily and it's not going away. It's getting bigger. I am seeing a different surgeon Tuesday but it took a while to get on because of this. He also wouldn't listen to my allergies about Twilight anesthesia and blew me off like I didn't know my own body so - that's a glad. He would have killed me anyways. Horrible HORRIBLE doctor. I have history of cancer. Multiple types. And he tossed me out as if a visible tumor was in my head. Horrible. Negative stars and lawsuits needed

This is the end result from the magic that Dr. Rovak worked on my hand.

I want to ensure prospective patients have access to my experience and are able to make a fully informed decision. My original review was posted years ago and can still be found here: https://yelp.to/obc6-lFzhE . After my review many individuals have reached out that where botched like i was who continue to seek help to fix their issues. We all have the same deformity. I wish i saw the prior reviews that were posted before i choose this surgeon and I'm posting this so everyone has the same information to make informed decision. Moving away to another state doesn't erase the past. It has now been more than four years since my liposuction procedure, and unfortunately the issues I experienced have never been fully resolved. I underwent liposuction of my abdomen, flanks, and back expecting a smoother, more defined result. Instead, I was left with significant contour irregularities, including a noticeable line or crease extending from my back toward my abdomen. My body remains uneven, and certain areas of my flanks continue to feel firm and unnatural. What has been most disappointing is that these concerns did not improve with time. Even years later, the contour deformities are still visible and continue to affect my confidence. I have consulted with other surgeons who have advised that revision surgery may be necessary to address the issues created by the original procedure. I also found communication and follow-up care to be frustrating. Reaching the office was difficult, and I often felt unsupported when trying to discuss my concerns and recovery. I chose this practice believing I would receive quality care and results. Unfortunately, my experience was the opposite. The procedure resulted in additional emotional stress, financial costs, and years of trying to find solutions for problems I did not have before surgery. My goal in posting this update is not to attack anyone, but to ensure that prospective patients can see both my original review and the fact that my concerns remain unresolved more than four years later. Every patient has a different experience, but I encourage anyone considering surgery to thoroughly research their surgeon, review long-term patient outcomes, ask detailed questions about follow-up care, and seek multiple opinions before making a decision. This review reflects my personal experience and the outcome I continue to live with years after my procedure.

I received excellent care for many years, including very successful laser treatment, and this office was widely trusted by professional athletes and long-term Denver patients alike. After both doctors retired and the practice was sold, I returned in July after moving back to Denver for an annual exam with a new doctor. While the clinical exam itself was fine, the administrative experience was not. After paying in full for my exam, I requested my eyeglass prescription so I could obtain reading glasses and was refused due to unexplained billing and insurance issues. I was then told I would need to schedule and pay for another appointment instead. Under federal rules, eyeglass prescriptions must be released after an exam regardless of insurance status. The inability to explain charges while withholding my own prescription felt administratively hostile and unnecessarily obstructive. Unfortunately, this is not the practice it once was. I've chosen to move my care elsewhere and would caution others to be aware of potential administrative barriers when requesting records or prescriptions

Specifically, Maria at the front desk was overheard speaking negatively about another patient who had just walked in for his appointment. She told her coworker that the man was "annoying" and that he was "always coming in just to bother them." After hearing this, the coworker immediately began treating the patient poorly without even asking why he was there or whether he had an appointment. She dismissed him and told him he would have to come back later, only to find out that he did in fact have a scheduled appointment. Watching a patient be judged and treated disrespectfully before staff even understood the situation was very concerning. Because of this experience, I do not feel comfortable bringing my parents back to this clinic.

Aside from the cost, I was just tired of dealing with glasses & decided it was time to do something about it. I went to two reputable Lasik surgeons & was told the same by both - due to being farsighted, I'd still have to use glasses for reading, working on the computer etc. They said the only thing that would eliminate glasses would be lens replacement & they both recommended Dr. William Richheimer @ Mile High Eye Institute. I made an appointment for an evaluation & was impressed with Dr. Richheimer right away. He took his time explaining my options, what would be involved in the surgery & after & said I was an excellent candidate. There was no hesitation & I scheduled the surgery before I left the office. I won't bore you with the details of the surgery, but it was exactly as described by Dr. Richheimer. I had a post-op follow-up the following day & actually read 20/20 WITHOUT GLASSES! To say I was happy would be a gross understatement. I'm now 7 months post-op & was having some light sensitivity. A quick visit to Dr. Richheimer for a check-up, he did a quick lazer "tune-up" procedure right then & I'm back to seeing like I did when I was a teenager, all without glasses! The lens replacement isn't cheap, but considering how much I was spending on glasses every year, the payback is actually very acceptable. So, do I recommend Dr. William Richheimer @ Mile High Eye Institute? Yes, without any hesitation - he & his staff are the epitome of professionalism & I strongly encourage you to consider them for any of your surgical eyecare needs.
