Dr. Khorsandi is warm and genuinely cares about his patients. However, the office is extremely unorganized and frustrating. While they are perfectly pleasant and polite to deal with, they messed up twice so far as they have treated me. 1. I called them after 4 pm to see if they were in my network, the receptionists answers and seems a little rushed, I tell them my insurance, get put on hold, then quickly I hear "sorry, you're not in-network". No sweat. I went online to see my coverage options through my HC carrier. Turns out, I am in-network...idk how they mess that up. 2. I got an order for an MRI. They sent the order to the wrong fax number. I did not know this until I called the MRI office I requested the order to be sent too, all for them to tell me they didn't receive it. I had to call this office back and tell them to resend the order. Again, everyone in the office is super nice. But, I can't help but feel like my recovery has been delayed because this office is so unorganized. I will not be coming back here, no matter how much I like Dr. Khorsandi. read more

I searched for a good hand dr for months and I found Dr Lopez OMG excellent Dr took my pain away in my hands. He really cares and took the time to explain to me what was going on. While there I hit the double jackpot cause he recommended the foot Dr there and she is amazing as well. I'm having surgery on my feet next month. This review is solely based on the front deck receptionist, not any of the docs I went to the office on egret in league city today at 2:00 pm. The door was open as soon as I opened the door the receptionist glared at me and said "we're closed! She wasn't at all friendly and seemed annoyed I opened the door which was not locked. I was just going to see if this office took my insurance but after how she acted I will never go there. She could have said "Sorry we are closed did you need something? October 30, 2024 I saw Dr. Lopez for wrist pain; I could not bend my wrist and was in a lot of pain. Dr. Lopez was very aggressive in his approach to identify the cause and after 3 visits in one week the pain was gone and my wrist returned to normal. It was very easy to schedule the follow-up appointments; his availability was exceptional. I had been to HSST before and was very confident that I would get the answers I needed to resolve my issue. I broke a bone in my thumb into 3 separate pieces along with another break got 5 pins put in by doctor lopez and it came out fantastic. 9 weeks later I'm back in the gym pain free felt good to go the day after the pins were pulled. Dr. Mark Khorsandi is absolutely the best of the best. In 2004 at the age of 37 I started having pain in my non-dominant hand/thumb. I lived in WI at the time, visited a hand specialist and he said I probably had the start of arthritis. He fashioned me a custom splint that immobilized my thumb and sent me on my way. The years go by and I start feeling pain in my left hand/thumb. It's 2007 and I'm living in Texas. I find a specialist in Athens because the pain in my right hand is significant. I receive cortisone shots for the next 3+ years, until he tells me I can't continue due to the long term risks. So I find a surgeon in Tyler. He recommends removing 3 bones in my hand to allow space between the remaining bones, and adding hardware to stabilize. I trusted him and went forward. When I woke up from surgery the first thing I felt was the same pain in my thumb. Doc said pain would dissipate over the next few weeks as I healed, that never happened. I was scheduled for him to repeat the surgery on my left hand, I cancelled and never returned. I ordered 2 thumb immobilizers online from Germany and I wore them every waking hour for the next few years. When it got to the point where it hurt to hold my daughter's and my husband's hands, when I couldn't pick up our little dog or open a jar or turn a door knob or zip my pants I started to look for a new hand specialist. My husband & I are both very thorough when we research, almost to a fault, so I searched for weeks before I narrowed my search down to one doctor. Dr. Mark Khorsandi. I actually almost went with Dr. Lopez, just because our names match, but my research steered me toward Dr. Khorsandi for my specific issues. I made an appt and drove almost 2 hours from my little town to meet him. Dr. Khorsandi was warm, personable, knowledgeable, honest and very current with what was happening within his field. After fresh x-rays, comparison of past x-rays, further examination and testing he diagnosed carpal tunnel and bone-on-bone thumb arthritis in both hands. He let me know the bone removal was completely unnecessary and was glad I cancelled the same surgery on my left hand. We agreed I had exhausted cortisone as a temporary remedy and my best chance for relief was surgery. I scheduled it. I had zero reservations or anxiety because I completely understood what Dr. Khorsandi was going to do and what the result would be. We decided this surgery would be on my right hand since that was my worst pain. When I woke up I felt NO pain in my thumb. Despite having just been under the knife, I immediately recognized a difference. I healed quickly and the result was miraculous. My thumb pain was relieved. I scheduled my 2nd surgery. On my untouched, dominant left hand. I'd be a liar if I didn't say I was a little bit nervous even though the surgery performed by Dr. Khorsandi on my right hand was literally flawless. But I do everything with my left hand. My nervousness was unfounded and my 2nd surgery was as perfect as my first. To overview, Dr. Khorsandi did a carpal tunnel release on both hands, and used a tendon from each of my wrists coupled with cadaver tissue to cushion the arthritis at the base of my thumbs. I am lying next to my husband right now, who had a carpal tunnel release, 2 trigger fingers released and tendon repair on his left hand yesterday. First I want to say, I'm 52 years old, I work in the wholesale food service industry, and have never broken a bone in my life, until now. Did something stupid at work and broke my wrist in 5 places. After going to the emergency room, I was referred to The Hand Surgery Specialists of Texas, Dr. Lopez. I really wasn't sure what to expect, and when I went to see him, they took a few x-rays and then we had our consultation, and I have to say after Dr. Lopez told me what he did, I was a little nervous..He said my wrist was a bag of bones, I was like what?? We'll he wanted me to have surgery ASAP, and he assured me that he put my wrist back together.. I scheduled the appointment for less than week later, got to the surgery center, Dr. Lopez went over the procedure with me, and after a few others came in, I was off to the operating room. Now, the numb block they used on my arm felt really strange, but after a few days it finally wore off.. After about 8 weeks of PT, and a few visits with Dr. Lopez, getting the pins removed, I almost back to normal, I wouldn't say 100%, but about 80-90%. I still need to work on my strengthening, but the mobility is far better than I expected so soon.. I have to say, Im glad I chose Dr. Lopez and his staff to do the operation on my wrist, everyone I spoke to was caring and professional, from the first visits to the follow up calls after the procedures, if you ever need hand or wrist surgery, Dr. Lopez is the one to call.. Excellent service from making the appt for a trigger thumb evaluation, to injection. This is the first time in my 50+ years that the doctor was ready to see me before I had completed the new patient paperwork. Dr. Maximus and all of his staff (Ozzy) and ladies at reception were very professional and pleasant. Dr. Maximos is the BEST Hand Surgeon in Houston! I truly believe that based upon my personal experience. I contacted Dr. Maximos after I took a fall that resulted in a painful debilitating injury. After my examination I learned that I had a distal radius fracture and would need surgery to repair my broken wrist and forearm bone. The bottom line was that this injury that would not heal properly without surgery and rehabilitation. Definitely not good news, and I was not looking forward to the process. In spite of the dread I was feeling about needing surgery, Dr. Maximos had a friendly , calm and confident demeanor which helped put me at ease. He explained how I could help to bring the swelling down before the surgery and what would take place during surgery. Fast forward to surgery day - I felt totally prepared to have the procedure and wasn't nervous or afraid. His staff took excellent care of me before and after surgery. They also continued to follow up with me during the recovery and rehab period. My end result: Although it seemed impossible a few months ago, the mobility in my wrist, arm and hand are now just as if the injury never happened! Dr. Khorsandh's hands are blessed! I had been dealing with immense pain in my hand and arm on you guessed it, my dominant hand. I mean the kind of pain that caused me to drop my custom made wine glass right before my wedding day in April 2023. I met Dr. Mark in June after I searched for the closet specialist near my job. Once I met him, he listened to me and didn't gaslight me. He didn't act like I was over exaggerating my pain. He explained what every injection was for, and when they didn't efficiently rid me of pain, he gave me every surgery option. I went through two surgeries with him within 28 days been the hand issues and the nerve issue in my arm. He called and checked on me even when I didn't have an appointment scheduled! I had a torn scapholunate ligament in my right wrist caused from sports injuries Dr. Khorsandi diagnosed & had me scheduled for surgery within a week. I previously saw 2 other doctors that could not figure out a course of action in over 2+ months. I was very hesitant to do surgery because I am a musician & didn't want to lose my ability to play drums/bass which can sometimes be the case. Since my surgery in July I have been quickly recovering with the help of Jim King CHT at Action Therapy. My strength range of motion & day to day function is almost at 75%. During my surgery he also took time to scope for other injuries that might have not been revealed in the MRI & xray & cleaned those up too. The staff of ladies at the front are always very pleasant & helpful. I have never had a mixed up in schedule or bogus payment conflict. Hilda the nurse always makes sure that while off from work, that my disability paperwork was filled out and faxed in on time. That is exceptional service that keeps my stress level down. I usually have issues with my job & medical records getting in on time but not here. She also was very gently when removing my staples. Everything about this place is terrific from Dr. Khorsandi's years of knowledge & expertise to his calming cool demeanor, to the pictures on the walls & letters of thanks from many previous patients. I was very skeptical about surgery; however, after doing some research and reading the awesome reviews about HSST, I decided to schedule an appointment. Dr. Khorsandi and staff were amazing and made me feel comfortable enough to schedule surgery. This month I had carpal and cubital tunnel surgery one both sides, one week apart. After only a couple of weeks I feel such an improvement. I can actually sleep all night without waking up to tingling and numbness. Also, I can type and write with very little discomfort. Let me start by saying Dr. Maximos is great. The way the facility is run is disgusting! I was NOT told this dr was out of my network until it was time to schedule surgery. At that point, I'd already been seen, had X-rays, and was looking forward to some pain relief. This is a deceitful way to make some money up front but in the long term, this deceitful practice will make many patients upset. Which is exactly what the medical assistant told me....that it's office policy to only tell patients the dr is out of network if they ask and that MANY patients get angry. Just for quick background... I took care of my two parents, each with dementia, for a period of fourteen (14) years. I also took care of three elderly family members (during this interval) who were victimized by Hurricane Katrina. I brought all of them to Houston to live. As a result, I've spent untold hours in the midst of Houston's medical community. Most often, the situation was hard, hard work primarily making sure that the professionals and other members of the medical community were 'really available' to care for the people (essentially those under my care) who needed them. Eventually, I became 'a person in need,' myself, when I suffered a rough fall and broke a finger on my primary hand. I sat on the situation for awhile not realizing I actually 'did' have a broken finger and finally, realized I was 'kind of' in dire straits. I made several phone calls to hand specialists recommended by my primary care physician, 'but there wasn't any room at the Inn,' so to speak. No one could 'fit' me in, at least not for a month or longer. I suddenly felt really very much alone. My whole hand was blue from bruising, and it hurt badly. So, I said a quick prayer and went to Google. Dr. Kohrsandi's office came up first on the search, so I called. I was immediately scheduled for an appt. the next day, and the following day I was scheduled for surgery. Parking was readily available (and free) at the surgical unit on Waugh Drive. (Both remarkable facts)! And, I was met 'with instant care' on the inside. 'Real care.' Each member of the staff was 'lovely.' The experience was oddly, almost spa-like in that the environment was not at all crowded or rushed. The facility was clean, new, well-organized and well-managed. I was offered help with my clothes (that was tough not being able to use my 'left' hand), and given warm blankets on several occasions without any prompting from me. I was also treated with much compassion and empathetic dignity while I was in the surgical unit. (That can be a scary experience). Several members of the professional team were in the room making sure I was properly and carefully prepared for surgery. The surgery itself took about an hour and a half, (I think). All of this to say, that it was obvious to me from the start that someone at the helm of this facility and the Clinic had a tremendous heart and no problem extending it. For me that 'someone' was Dr. Khorsandi. He was my hand counselor (for lack of a better term), and my surgeon. There is something about Dr. K. that is hugely special. He is warm, approachable, light-spirited, good hearted, and dear. Actually, he is just that- a dear, dear soul, both an exceptional surgeon and an exceptional person. The range of motion in my hand is where it was before 'the great fall,' and Dr. Khorsandi has been compassionately working with me now to reach 'an absolutely pain-free end-result.' I recommend Dr. Khorsandi (and the professionals/staff members at both the Hand Surgery Specialist Clinic and the associated surgical unit), at least 125 times to the moon and back. (As unusual as this sounds, I actually remarked while checking out after surgery that the experience had actually been 'almost' fun. And I really meant that. I was so grateful and appreciative that I had been treated with such kindness and tended to medically with such strong competence). In summary, Dr. Khorsandi and the entire experience have offered healing for my hand and for my heart and spirit. Someone was truly there when I needed someone to be there, for me. As importantly, Dr. K. has taken impeccable care of my left hand, (the hand I have always depended on very heavily to guide me through this life). So, to conclude, and in short, I totally admire and adore Dr. Khorsandi; it is a privilege to know him. You will think so, too. Call the Clinic immediately if you need help and head straight there~ (hand problems, feet problems, and migraines). Back in June I accidentally stabbed myself inbetween my thumb and my index finger and low and behold, sliced right through two flexor tendons. I went to the ER and was stitched up by a resident under Dr. Murillos office and referred to call them the next morning to schedule my surgery. Their office was so rude and immediately turned me away. I decided to look up hand specialists online and came across HSS. When I called their office, their front office was so welcoming, nice and accommodating to me and helped me every step of the way. I saw Dr. Maximos and I would recommend him to ANYONE who hurts their hand(s). He was laid back, but honest and truly cares about his patients. With my high anxiety and allergies to penicillin and codiene, on the day of my actual surgery, he made me feel so at ease and that isn't an easy thing to do! I injured myself at work and damaged a nerve in my right index finger. Dr. Lopez was my surgeon and he was great. I'm slowly receiving feeling back into my finger , but if doctor Lopez would not have acted quickly on the repair, the loss of complete feeling could have been permanent.
