I don't say this lightly. This mostly takeout and delivery hole in the wall place in a small town in Hudson valley has some of the best Desi food I've eaten in my entire life. Including India! Hands down their best thing for me is the huge thin stuffed parathas! The chef is a master of his craft, given how he manages to get whole wheat this flat without stuffing breaking through. The flavoring is not ultra overwhelming like in many pakistani restaurants. The seekh kebabs were perfectly succulent. I felt like I was in Lucknow. I've been here 4 times now and ordered a dozen things and every single item is way more delicious that you'd expect just randomly walking in. To fellow South Asians in the area, I say a drive here from NYC or NJ or CT will be well worth it, just after your first bite of aloo paratha. Check it out. This is more of a Takeout only place, with low prices and smaller portions, but that is exactly what I expected, so no disappointments there. Quality and Taste was way better that I hoped it to be. Giving 4 Stars simply because I have eaten here only once and I don't if they are consistent in the Taste. Definitely planning to order her again, and will revisit the Rating if needed. read more

I must of gone to my mechanic a million times and never knew that this place existed! First time I came here was for lunch and I ordered a chicken tikka sandwich on naan... it came with lettuce, onion, tomatoes, and white sauce. It was so delicious that for dinner I came back and ordered the same thing again! The guys behind the counter are nice, a little on the quiet side but maybe because I'm not a regular ‍ and the decor was ok but I wouldn't take someone here for a first date. We stopped here after we found it on our GPS when we were looking for a quick, tasty lunch. The food is really good, but the service was weird. Granted, we were there at a weird time - around 3pm - but I don't think that warrants the awkwardness that we encountered. When we got there, there was a big display case full of delicious looking food. Nothing was labeled, but that was OK. We stood there for at least 5 minutes without anyone coming out from the kitchen to help us, and we heard people yelling at each other in the back. We almost left but then 2 people came out to help us and the other few people who had also walked in. The young man who took our order was really confused about the menu, what combos were supposed to come with, and just generally had trouble understanding us. We finally got our order in and sat down. I noticed that he was heating the food up in the microwave, which kind of concerned me since there was a full kitchen in the back. I went to use the restroom and the lights didn't work. I didn't even bother going to ask them if they could get a new lightbulb because the switch seemed funky and I didn't want to have to try to have another confusing conversation with them. My husband got the chicken biryani and really enjoyed it, and I had a cauliflower and potato dish with rice and naan. I wasn't crazy about the flavors in the rice, which was kind of disappointing since I adore basmati. The cauliflower was super spicy, and they didn't have any sort of raita or other cooling yogurt-based dish to help with the heat. Unequivocally the best Punjabi/Pakistani/Kabab restaurant in all of the Rockland county area! The Chicken seekh Kabab is a must have!! Order this blind---you won't regret it! Other must haves are The Butter nan and whole wheat tandoori roti. Also all their "curries" taste vastly different from standard Indian restaurants--for example their Butter Chicken has no cream --- tastes different but still delicious . Omggggg this was literally the best south Asian cuisine I've had in a looooong time. Chicken kebabs perfectly seasoned and spicy and juicy!!!! Sooooo good. The samosas were off the hooooooook!!!!!wonderfully chewy crispy bread, super flavorful ground beef inside. Just like moms home cooking. To die for! Anddddddd the eat in restaurant has a cute kitschy decor to boot! Everything we had was awesome. Our server was super sweet and helpful. Plus the owner was incredibly nice and helpful. Excellent food and reasonably priced. I love Indian food. I'm not an expert but have eaten at some pretty good places in Queens and this is as good as any I've had in NY. More of a takeout place but there are tables to sit down and eat. Lunch special for $7.50 comes with rice, 2 veggie dishes, and giant piece of naan bread. I Think a meat dish instead of one of the veggies is a dollar more. They even have a pretty good selection of Indian desserts/pastries. read more

We ordered some food from this restaurant a while back. Guess what ? I was violently ill for the past 3 days and so were other guests who ate the same food!! I been on the bed eating yogurt, barely able to get up and walk to the kitchen because of the temperature drop in my body . That's how scary it was! I just talked to few others and they also reported similar conditions. I had lots of work to complete for this week and it was a very crucial week for me. But because of this , I missed it which is what I am more concerned about. My stomach is growling as I am writing this. If you want to spend lots and lots of money and end up with diarrhea and lose tons of time at work, go right ahead. Let me answer first to Ashley. You should know that this isn't a traditional restaurant type where you would pay high price for food or service. Where in US will you get a naan in $1 or Kabab at $1.50. I agree to certain points that they need to improve the service but i definitely would have agreed completely if this was a hifi restaurant. This is moreover a stop by place or where in you quickly order for take away. I am a regular customer and visit once in every week from last 2 years. I never felt and awkwardness for anything that they do or offer. For me this is the cheapest and best authentic place to go for Indian/Pakistani food. Would you think of comparing this place with Priya (in suffern) or Karavalli. I would suggest to compare the prices as well when we look at the services or other things in comparison. I really enjoy their food and it doesn't matter to me if they are yelling or talking to each other in the Kitchen. I don't see any reason of getting disappointed with that. had chiken biryani and veg meal (roti, brinjal curry, white rice, chicken curry). well here the food taste is good. but the chicken pieces and the curries smell a little and especially the chicken pieces seems like as if its lying in there store for a week or more. so hard, dry, bonny with less skin, a little smell like a stored chicken curry for weeks. roti isn't that good. totally i never want to go to that store for food coz am concerned about my health. who knows whens that chicken is cooked. dam! read more

While the ambiance here isn't set up to be fine dining, the meal quality is certainly fine! Folks behind the counter were friendly and generous, The prices are beyond reasonable, especially when you consider the depth of flavor and the selection of dishes. Our first time here and we'll definitely be back. We had the tikka masala which was perfectly NOT spicy for my son. I had the chicken curry which was mildly spicy. My son decided to try the curry and was dipping his naan like crazy into the sauce soon enough. Fantastic quality, big portions, attentive staff, reasonable prices, what more could you want? We usually order the Chicken Karahi which is made fresh. Very tasty. We also tried goat curry, chicken curry etc., all good. Naan is super soft. Their Chicken kofta is awesome. Reasonable price for a good meal. We visit often. read more

The food is horrible and the workers are ill mannered and rude .. most of the dishes have black layer on top of those and pieces of meat which are coming out from gravy were black ..i asked one of worker how old is this dish he said very rudly a month and i replied it looks like that way .. when any customer comes they mixed up that black layer and serve it .. eat there if u dont like your stomach.. i feel like vomiting when i think about those display dishes. i cant leave zero stars there is no option of zero star read more

Trying to figure out why there are multiple one star reviews...I am not usually one to post an online review but for this place I had to. I have been coming here on a regular for quite some time now...probably a few years (never once gotten sick). I have tried majority of the things on the menu and I do not have any complaints on the taste or the quality of the food. Yeah you are not going to get 5 star dine in service but for the price of the food what do you expect?! $6 for a plate of delicious chicken biryani! You can go there with a friend and have a proper lunch for two for under $20 and that is amazing. Usually when you go into a Desi restaurant like the ones on Oak Tree Road you're spending at least $50 on food and sweets for two people and the quality isn't there completely. As a Pakistani born, Handi Roti is as authentic as it gets...but don't take my word for it! GO AND TRY IT!!! owner was very rude and nasty to us because we told his employee (Spanish) guy to fix the door. The entrance door was broken and when I open the door I got hurt. We did not even complaint to the owner and he got very nasty and told us to don't worry. I just want to mention that if it was non desi person I bet the owner would be on his knees apologing to him. But because I was brown skin he didn't care. This restaurant is not for standard people. This is garbage restaurant. Food is also not fresh, food from trays look like it was there for days. Very dirty and nasty place. This restaurant will be on red flag with NYS department of health due to keeping dirty. Place stink, only desi goes there that is why the owner is nasty and he treats customers like he is in his home county. The owner needs to take some business course. He needs to learn how to do and take care for customer in USA. This is not your home county, treat people with respect. VERY BAD Service. read more
