Have eaten food from Efsane twice--once in restaurant and once via Doordash. We had a delicious meal sitting at the table. Food was fresh and delicious; attentive and timely service-wise, too. Ordering delivery was a bit of a different story. Ordered two gyros and neither had tzatziki which was very disappointing. Tzatziki is what we live for and the shining star of a gyro--how do you forget that not once but twice?! Then there were the very greasy and droopy fries. Yes, fries are delicate travelers but these were hopeless. And at a $9(!!) price point, they should really find another way of transporting them to customers. Last, the lentil soup was not prepared well. It was bland and overly thick than many others I have eaten before by other chefs. All in all, not terrible but rather a bad lasting impression. COME HUNGRY! I came here to celebrate my brother-in-law's birthday with my husband's family recently. There were 6 of us and we split the Efsane Family Special for 4 people and added lamb chops thinking we wouldn't have enough food lol the special also came with dessert but my sister-in-law also ordered a rice pudding. The 6 of us could've easily had the family special for 4 without ordering anything else - there was so much food and we had leftovers to take home!! For context, we all eat a LOT so to say we had leftovers is saying a lot! Quantity aside, the food itself was delicious. The bread is served fresh and steaming hot, the dips are delicious and flavorful, meat is seasoned and cooked perfectly (the chicken shish and lamb adana are my favorites), and the bitter black tea and sweet baklava are a perfect way to end the meal. My son and I had lunch on Sunday (3/1/26) and thoroughly enjoyed our meals. We were greeted warmly and given menus and had ample time to decide: we chose a shepherd salad and cheese rolls for appetizers (and were given a balloon bread); Dave had Iskender kebab and I ordered lab pide (and took lahmacun home). The food was delicious, and the servings were generous. Efsane is a big space with ample seating, and nicely decorated. There is plenty of parking out front. It has a great vibe to round out the picture. I plan to return, and recommend Efsane. read more

I just moved from Montclair, which is very near the famous middle eastern food scene in Paterson, NJ. I was very worried that, after the move, I would not be able to find middle eastern food that would compare. However, I was wrong, and Esfane definitely satisfied my craving! I was in the mood for a light lunch, so I ordered the Shepard's Salad, the Baba Ghannouj, and the Lentil Soup. The Baba Ghannouj was excellent and came with lots of pita bread. It could've been a little smokier for my taste, but overall I got a huge serving and it was very creamy and flavorful. The Sheppard's salad was similarly huge and delicious. The lentil soup tasted home-made and was so comforting to dip all of my extra bread in. At the end of lunch, I was also served some complimentary tea, which definiitely was the icing on the cake to this exceptional experience. Overall, I was extremely satisfied by the quality of the food, but also by the amount. The service was similarly excellent. My water was constantly filled and the waiters checked on me numerous times to ensure everything was going well. The decorations inside were also exceptional, and the restaurant definitely gives high-class date night vibes. I could totally see coming back for a date night with my husband. I think the only downside is that I didn't find the food to be QUITE as good as some Paterson joints like Al Basha, and the price felt like it was 1.5x-2x as much. Probably worth it though, because this has got to be one of the better restaurants around in Flanders. read more

Came here last week to celebrate my friends birthday, absolutely outstanding dishes. My first Turkish food experience and it was amazing in all aspects for me. While I didn't get the name of the servers, they were all very kind and attentive. My partner had been wanting to take me here and also go back for himself for a while and I'm so glad he introduced me to Turkish cuisine because it is delicious. We got the stuffed grape leaves, Lebni dip, lamb casserole, and the Künefe for dessert. Our server was very kind and also offered some complimentary tea in the cutest cup! They do also give complimentary Turkish bread called balloon bread and I was immediately "blown" away by it. What a fun and new way to start a meal! It was quite literally blown up like a balloon and where it inflated was nice and soft and down on the bottom was a nice crispy crunchier texture. If I had more room in my stomach I would've asked for more. If you like toast and butter, this will be the next level. Their lebni dip was delicious as well and honestly I just really loved their breads here. While I was stuffing myself with bread, our main entree - the lamb casserole - finally came out. Things took a little longer to come out but it seems like it's all made to order , so it's fresh, even the bread! I really appreciated that about this place. The server mentioned that today there was no casserole which honestly I didn't mind as the dish was delicious still. I loved the bits of lamb and diced up veggies and we ate this plate clean. Finally, one of the things my partner was most excited for - the Künefe. We loved it so much we started searching for Turkish food around our areas and even recipes! This was such an interesting dessert I wish I could eat again!! It's made of fried shredded phyllo dough and it was topped with some pistachios I believe. Honestly what made this whole meal so lovely besides the food was our server. He was so kind and patient and full of pride for the chef and food. I loved the way he talked about the dishes and how he had came from another state to come work here. This place is seriously delicious and I hope more people stop by! The food here was really great and tasted authentic. Everything felt fresh, and the portions were generous for the price. The interior decor is also beautiful, which made the experience even nicer. The service is also great, the staff is very nice and attentive. They have a lunch special menu that's an especially good deal; you get a nice amount of food with soup, an appetizer, and an entrée for a very reasonable price. I ordered Efsane last minute for a birthday lunch since my original plans fell through. The person is usually pretty picky about what they eat and they thoroughly enjoyed everything! I ordered the lamb chops, salmon, and mix grill. All were delicious but the lamb chops and mix grill were amazing. I feel like lamb can be pretty finicky to cook but their lamb was not tough and seasoned well. The mix grill had really generous portions and tasted better than Cinar! Each dish comes with cous cous (?) and rice. We were also given individual portions of salad that was delicious! I also ordered the lentil soup for someone at the lunch and they said it was delicious. The bread is also amazing! Mediterranean places I've eaten at usually just give a round pita, but I'm pretty sure the bread here is made in house. It's so fresh and pillowy, I could totally eat a ton of this bread on its own. Went with a friend here on a Monday night, upon her suggestion. This restaurant has beautiful decor and felt very cozy when we went! I loved the velvet blue chairs at the table we sat at. Their service balances both friendliness and professionalism. They checked in with us occasionally without being overbearing. It was really great Mediterranean food, starting with their bread appetizer which reminded me of a floof/cloud ! I got an okra veggie casserole dish (never tried before) and even just the presentation of it was so aesthetic. My eyes feasted before I tasted it. The falafels were very good too, though I surprised that it was so soft inside (the outside was crunchy). Finally, I made a significant trek to come here and I'll say it was the right decision! From my first visit but never posted - So glad we tried this place!! We usually go next door, but I convinced my husband to give it a go. Today's update - yep, still all in on this place. Amazingly attentive staff, happy to offer menu suggestions. The restaurant vibe is happy and fun with great music playing in the background. Shepherd salad - I got a larger with feta in hopes I would have some leftover to take home (not so much), so good we didn't stop. Phyllo rolls - I mean, it's Mediterranean mozzarella sticks!! I had the meatballs (kofte) which are so flavorful, with the most refreshing salad and both bulger and rice. I've learned my lesson we can only manage 1 dessert for the table, but it's always kunife or baklava. Tonight they suggested the kunife. Last time it was their fresh baklava served warm. Renovations of this establishment look great, for the previous set up was quite dull. Sadly, more misses than hits tonight. what it comes down to is value. I walked into this restaurant to place a take out order, and the gentleman just stared at me. Restaurant empty. No greeting at all, so that was awkward. After I started looking at the menu, a very nice younger woman came out to assist. I opted for the fried falafel, priced at $13. Yes, it is $12.99 but just call it $13. Decent flavors, yet literally one bite and the piece is gone. A small tablespoon or two of hummus underneath the 6 pieces is hard to justify $13. Unless you make these morsels a bit bigger? The hot entree consisted of one chicken kebab, two smaller chunks of chicken, and the same for the lamb. The meats were tender to an acceptable extent, yet lacked any unique flavors. For a $30+ price point, you would expect a more wow factor , or hope for one. The rice was also average. Fluffy, yet zero spice character in terms of its own identity. however, the Turkish flatbread was tasty. Unlike the yogurt sauce. I personally will not be returning, and this is not because of disappointment. The meal was fine. I just found it unremarkable. Kind of like most of the local dining options in Flanders. read more

Let me take you through our true Turkish experience. It started with finding this restaurant tucked inside a strip mall along Route 206 south and finally deciding to try it one Saturday night. Firstly, it's beautiful inside and traditional Turkish music sets the ambiance nicely. We had a LOT of food starting with flatbread, hummus, shepherd salad, sauced eggplant, liver cube appetizer, and two mixed dinner platters. We finished with two delicious desserts of homemade baklava (to die for) and rice pudding including Turkish Teas and Turkish coffees. I have to say we were extremely impressed with the service and food quality with everything we had. This place is a must try, you will not be disappointed. We will definitely be back. A couple weeks ago we had dinner for two and sat outside on a beautiful night. The server (young tall guy) was excellent with a great personality and made good suggestions. We had the sampler appetizer with the hummus, babahanoush, etc. which was quite interesting and tasty. The "puffy" bread (photo) that is included was nice! I had the Iskender Kabob and wife had Lamb Pide. Both were incredible. We brought home meals for our kids. They loved them but one said there wasn't enough shrimp. The owner came out a couple times to chat and make sure we were happy, nice touch. They gave us a sampler of baklava for dessert, on the house. These folks are sincere about their food and service!! We decided to give this new place a try. The previous Turkish restaurant at the location was not all that good. I'm happy to say that with a new restaurant, a new favorite has arisen. We were immediately welcomed by the owner when we stopped by. He and his staff were so friendly. Our order was "to go" and ready to roll the minute we walked in. The new set up looked great and very homey. The smells on the ride home were incredible. I had the Meatball (Kofte) and my wife the Chicken Yogurt Kebab. We also got the cheese rolls, hummus, baba ganoush and falafel. The appetizers were awesome. All were seasoned perfectly. The rolls had a nice crunch to them, the falafel was crispy goodness. Both meatballs and chicken had a nice char on them. The meatballs came with white rice, bulgar and a hot pepper. The chicken served over toasted pita and yogurt sauce. Everything was so tasty. The meal also came with homemade pita bread. If you have a chance, stop by and enjoy some of the best Turkish food in the area. You won't be disappointed. read more
