We wanted to try something different and not in the city. This place did not disappoint! Great beer selection (we all had some amber ale...I forget what it was called...but it was delicious.) The wedding soup was wonderful and I'm a tough critic when it comes to wedding soup! Lots of meatballs and nice chunky carrots. The Chicago style pizza was THE BEST EVER! Piping hot, nice tang in the sauce and bursting with flavor. My only complaint...they didn't warn us ahead of time to save room for dessert. Excellent service too. Don't pass this lil' cafe up. It appears to be fairly new. They're still adding the finishing touches but it's cute and uniquely decorated. We enjoyed the bicycle as the focal point - "fd" & the chalkboard border quotes were entertaining while we waited for lunch. My co-worker and I both ordered Stromboli & you won't be let down. The décor was adorable, the pizza was excellent and the server very attentive. We didn't get drinks, but their dedication to local breweries and wineries is applaudable. I love this place already! It was my first time too! It was very good! Our group had the fried zucchini, it was my first time having it, and it was delicious! I don't like onions, but my uncle loved the barbecue sauce with onion rings. If you plan to get a sub or a calzone, consider the portion size. My ham and cheese sub had a lot of ham on it. We stumbled upon this place on our way home an estate sale. The cub appeal and the name enticed is to give it a try. We had a cup of their wedding soup. It was so packed with veggies, pasta and meatballs that it was more of a stew. It was very flavorful but I would have liked more broth. Regardlessly it was very tasty. The 4 of us ordered a deep dish pizza with ham spinach and tomato. It was also very tasty and filling. The crust was different than I have ever had. I just cant put my finger on why but it was just different It was crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. It almost reminded us of a wheat crust. The service was ok. Young staff that seemed inexperienced. The four of us had water but only one get a refill. I'm sure they will get better with time. The place is decorated cute with a bicycle theme and a tin ceiling. Ordered wings and pizza for delivery, order showed up sooner than expected. They forgot to put the little plastic thing the pizza, so the cheese stuck to the lid. They offered to bring another pizza, but the cheese came right off, I said not to worry about it. Wings had a good flavor, and were nice and crispy. Pizza sauce and toppings were really good, knocking one star off because I expect a square pizza to be crispier. read more

Beware. Poor dining experience, disgusting dirty ketchup bottle with dried ketchup on cap, fish dinner was marginal with hard fried ridge around the outside edge of the fish. Service was marginal, was not asked about a refill of the iced tea until after I was finished eating. Parents of a child permitted the child to bang on a piano in the dining area. We have visited many pizza restaurants and have searched for the perfect pizza that has immediate flavor without the bite of the "run of the mill" pizza establishments. Handlebar Cafe, located outside the central storefronts of a small town, Saxonburg, PA., proved to be a great find for superb pizza, service, surrounded by a war, and pleasing environment. Our lunch commenced with fried mushrooms which are the best that we have tasted anywhere incorporating that special crunch that complemented the hot fresh whole mushroom. That tantalizing starter prepared us for a superb pepperoni pizza that not only tantalized our taste buds but also heightened all senses. The harmony created in our pizza was well beyond what we have tasted in many other Italian restaurants in the US and Europe. Did an online order and went to pick up my order. The kitchen never made it. They were too busy smoking outside when I pulled in and messing around. Granted, the owner stepped in and had the meal ready immediately and threw in complimentary garlic knots. I ordered the Mac&Cheese bake. The menu stated: "Choose from original, Hot Pepper Cheese or Alfredo." One would assume that you would be served baked macaroni with pepper cheese. What they served me was Cavatappi (corkscrew noodles) in a buffalo sauce, topped with mozzarella and a few slices of jalapenos. I usually do not complain or request a new dish. However, this was simply not edible. I explained to the waitress that the menu was misleading and my meal was not edible because there was too much buffalo sauce. I was then informed it was the chef's "special sauce" and it was not buffalo sauce. I politely disagreed and stated I wasn't paying for my meal as I couldn't eat it. Waitress goes back to the kitchen, I'm assuming to tell the cook, and we hear someone mumbling, slamming and banging things in the kitchen. Afterwards, the owner came to the table to correct me, stating it was not buffalo sauce. I had to politely argue that my pasta was in a buffalo sauce soup and they should fix their menu. She then said, "I'm not here to argue with you, I'm here to help you." and then she agreed that it was buffalo sauce. So my overall review is low. I managed in the food service industry for years. I don't fret over little things. However, each employee's reaction to my simple complaint was ridiculous. I won't return there. There are plenty other excellent small restaurant owners who I would much rather support. read more

My fiancé and I eat here as our go to for Italian dinners. Pasta dinners are delicious. Served nice and hot and tasty. Be careful not touching plates as they are very hot! Side salad has a good mix. Meatballs are delicious. Waitresses have always been very attentive. We met Linda the owner a few times and if something is wrong she makes it right. And Linda cares about Veterans and gives a Veteran discount. Glad this restaurant is only a short distance from us. Next time we are going to try the deep dish pizza as it sounds great! read more

This pizza was AWESOME! The deep dish is the best I've had, even the ones I've had in Chicago. The crust has a delicious flavor and the sauce is flavorful without being overpowering. Buffalo chicken pizza is another favorite of ours. Definitely save room for fried dough before you leave though--yumm. Servers were friendly and always busy at this comfortable family restaurant.
