This injury is better known as a "Spaghetti Wrist"
    Joe T.

Saba is AMAZING! and this is why I can say that: I suffered a traumatic injury on my right hand that severed 10 tendons, 2 nerves and the ulnar artery. This happened last summer and within 48 hours, after a 13 hour surgery, the surgeon had requested that I immediately go see Saba at Hands On Care, which I did. Upon entering the clinic, I met Saba whom was very driven to start treating my wound which was all bandaged up from surgery. She very carefully removed all bandages, reapplied new wound care treatment to the stitches and prepared a custom brace for my hand to keep it immobile. For the next few months I went to therapy 5 times a week then 4 and now 3 and can honestly say that I can move my wrist with full motion, my grip is strong and I can fully extend all fingers. All this progress is not because I sat back and enjoyed the show but rather it's a full commitment from both myself and my therapist (Saba). She is very demanding and knowledgeable and it's what I need in a therapist. If you're looking for a cute and trendy place with a quiet and airy atmosphere- leave, this is not your place. But if you want to treat your injury and get better then this is your place.

Then when you insist your appointment was with the doctor and would like to see the doctor, she won't bother to even show up and the staff will be very rude and say you either meet the PA or cancel and reschedule. I have known Dr.Kaur for 10 years but in the last 2 years my appointment was surprisingly changed to a PA in the last minute at least 3 times. So frustrating to write this review. Dr.Kaur used to be kind and smart now this place has become money minded and just wants to earn money with most of the cases handled by the PAs. I don't know what happened, may be private equity took over this place and changed it into a money focused place and not a kind medical practice once led by an empathetic Dr.Kaur. The staff have the audacity to tell you the meeting with the doctor is not guaranteed even if you have a specific appointment with Dr.Kaur. @ Dr.Kaur you know me well. You have lost a loyal patient of 10 years. I'm sad I'm not going to visit this place again. I'm going to find a new primary care physician with a heavy heart.

I tried to think positively and say to myself, "Hey, looks can be deceiving. Don't judge a book by its cover!" Yeah, no. The entire place was not clean (I'm talking a bag of trash on the ground as you walk in, floors and exam rooms are just dirty). I appreciate all the UC's in San Diego even more now since moving to SJ. Not all urgent cares are created equal. What I went in for did not get taken care of. The doc/provider did not do a thorough basic examination whatsoever. The person who did the procedure seemed so unsure/had to ask the front desk girl to come and help. After the procedure, I still got unclear answers or they lacked demonstration of some knowledge around the questions I asked. I ended up going to a more reputable UC (El Camino UC on Lincoln - bless!!!) two days later and found out that bc the doc didn't do a proper basic check up, there was something more apparent that they missed.

I was hired by Stars as a fresh college graduate with some background in childcare. They promised me they would train me and help me develop in order to serve the families that Stars is hired to help. What was my training like? About 4 days in the office, mostly going over ethical issues (like not accepting food from the families we work with or not riding in cars with the families). Very little was taught on strategies for how to actually HELP the kids we were working with. These ~4 days in the office were followed by about 3 weeks of shadowing more experienced "child development specialists". While my coworkers certainly seemed kind, and like they wanted to help, most of our sessions consisted of just playing with the kiddos. When I was sent out on my own as a "child development specialist", I tried my best and spent hours researching ways to help the kids I was assigned to (because my "training" was so subpar). I actually felt guilty going to families homes, knowing I wasn't helping them in the way they needed. The cherry on top is the organizational structure of Stars itself. My supervisor, Cameron, constantly cancelled and pushed off meetings I requested with him. There were at least 7 times when he promised to have a phone or video call with me, and then cancelled last minute. I was also hired as a full time employee, but was only assigned about 20 work hours a week. Your children deserve better. Stars doesn't care about the kids, they only care about the money.

There are a few things that I wish I had known from the beginning, so I thought it might be helpful to share them with other families who are interested in the center: -at this point, fall of 2019, it doesn't seem that there is anyone else working at the center-some reviews mentioned a team of people, so I'm guessing that might have been in years past -because of Mary's delicate immune system, she requested that we cancel sessions if anyone in our family had any signs of illness, such as a runny nose. With my family, this was problematic, as I have a younger son too and work with children in my own work, so we ended up missing quite a few sessions even in the first month -communication about scheduling, superbills, etc can be challenging. Overall, I wish that these issues had not cropped up, as I definitely had the feeling that Mary has a lot to offer her clients and she also can be supportive of parents as well, with parenting tips if they are wanted.
