Feeding therapy:- Our two-month-old baby was seen by Jennifer Lewis for feeding issues, as we were having a hard time with bottle feeding and were referred by our pediatrician. We were quickly arranged an appointment after the intake process. Jennifer pinpointed the issue on our first visit and gave practical suggestions, showing a lot of sympathy and professionalism. She listened to our questions and concerns patiently and responded thoroughly, so we learned a lot from her. We cannot thank her enough for her help. Tip: A video visit is possible if the baby's schedule doesn't work out; we used this option for one of our follow-up appointments! As for the clinic, the intake process is well-organized. I cannot say enough good things about Jennifer Lewis. She is a highly trusted member of our children's care team and has made an incredible difference in their lives. I officially state that tomorrow( Wednesday) is going to be the last session for Joseph Dat Phan. It takes a babysitter to drive Joseph to session(25-30 minutes each way because off traffic) and it takes 25 minutes or less for therapy to work with Joseph. Joseph co-pay is $50 each session and last week i being charged extra $35 for being late( because the tire was flat and we need to charge cars) and I called Marcus so he knew that Joseph was late for 6 minutes. The therapy was short that day less than 17 minutes!!!! What a joke! If you don't want to waist your time don't come to this place. I was waiting for this agency place for 11 months having autistic son. read more

This is my experience its been 2 ocassions where the theraphy change drastically from one day to another without a prior notice or verbal agreement.Once it was with Mr.sam where he retested my child for services of occupational theraphy before that my child had 2 o.t sessions done the same day so I wouldn't be back and forth and after the tests where done Mr.sam said it was no longer needed for my child to have the 2 30mn sessions so it was reduced to 45 mn but zita said that he had recommended 2 times sessions each containing 30mn equal to 1 hour per week.She offered me a new one since there was an opening I didn't understand why my son was moved from the schedule he had already just out of the no where and no explanation that actually made sense I understand there's other children in need but this is why there was a waitlist for everyone and it's really unfair when the company asks us to come on time or they charge us for being late or when the teacher is off and we have to make it up or when he have to tell with time if they will be absent from theraphy but for the teacher to be out for the day without us being adviced is also unfair . I tried out the theraphy with miss Ashley so now he was seeing Mr.sam and miss Ashley each 30 mn .and 2 week after seeing miss Ashely dirá mentioned if my child was able to move up his session I was like no this is why you asked me what time worked because it was available and that's the time it works for us since my child has aba theraphy after long story short they informed me since he was just a 30mn session miss Ashley wouldn't be able to see him anymore again there we go switching my child from bt to bt and when I ask to make a grievance report they give me the run around .This is really unprofessional from the company because every company has someone to respond to someone who is there when there's a problem and this isn't the case no show of empathy . read more

if I could put 0 stars I would but I do NOT recommend Joy and Laughter Development Therapy. Some of the staff members were very rude and unprofessional when speaking with clients. It often felt like they didn't care about the children's comfort or the parents' concerns. On top of that, the waiting list is extremely long -- we waited months with very little communication or updates about when we'd be seen. read more

I cannot begin to describe how happy we are with the progress my son has shown in the short time he has been going to JLD. All of the staff help make my family feel welcomed and comfortable. His ST, Ms. Marissa is just the best!! I don't know if my son would be showing his progress without her. I began taking my 18month old son to Jennifer for a swallowing/oral aversion to food and liquids. The situation was serious. He was so small he was not even on a growth curve for awhile. I never knew that something so simple as eating, swallowing and drinking could be so problematic. Of course, I did not know anyone who had gone through this before, and a google search only caused more concern about what the problem could be. After extensive prior medical testing resulting in discovering there was nothing physically wrong with him, I did a google search on feeding therapy and took a chance here. Jennifer has been a literal life saver for my son. I trusted her and the outcome we were all hoping for, happened. He eats better than ever before and drinks fluid better than he ever has. He still has progress to be made and this is a team approach where we as parents have to implement the strategies learned, but the success of her feeding therapy sessions have kept a feeding tube out of my son's body. For the first time in over 6 months, he is on a growth curve. If your baby needs help eating/drinking you will be well taken care of here and trust Jennifer's judgement. We've been a part of JLD since 2016 and since day one we have met amazing therapist who have helped my child grow and develop and not just my child but me as well. We have seen our son overcome so many challenges with Elise' dedicated support. The staff at this place are all amazing and so welcoming. As soon as you walk in you are greeted by celest, Marcos, and Zita, three of the nicest receptionists you'll ever meet. They go above and beyond when it comes to scheduling. All 3 are so welcoming and extremely friendly. My son sees Kelly for Ocupational therapy and he has really come a long way with her. Well I can't review the quality of services offered- we are not receiving services. I called and enquired regarding speech therapy, they gave really vague answers regarding availability and services being virtual. Suddenly - I'm not sure what the person realized, they took my name and number (at least that's what they told) and said will call in 15 mins.. nothing after that, It was unprofessional. I saw Jennifer Lewis for infant feeding occupational therapy and she was a shining light during a difficult time. I tried everything to figure out why my 2 month old couldn't eat more than 2-3oz at a time. Walked into Jennifer's office and she instantly could tell what was going on. She is so knowledgeable and was so sweet with my baby. After one appointment and doing at home exercises with my daughter (which she loved by the way) there was already improvement. After her second appointment she was pretty much eating normally. Frequent therapist turnover and mismanaged billing department. They couldn't keep track of what they invoiced and what they charged, and rudely demanded payment for services never invoiced long after we stopped using them. And when I painstakingly went thru each invoice to find out where their error was then pointed out to them they never responded but just sent another billing letter. They couldn't even spell my name correctly. Glad we switched to a different provider (it has been a much better experience with one of their competitors) and suggest you avoid. read more

My son has been a client of JLD since 2016! Yes... 5 years! For 5 years, he has weekly met with his amazing speech therapist Sharon Hsu (or, teacher Sharon as he calls her) and she has witnessed how he has moved from minimally verbal, to verbal (but very unintelligible), to a child who makes progress each day with his communication skills and who is functional and able to express his wants and needs. I have to credit Sharon as one of the defining factors in that progress! Her consistent support, guidance, and excellent communication with us parents and, especially, her keeping my son always engaged and happy with meaningful activities have really made a difference! My son has also received OT from JLD these 5 years... for the past year, he has had Chris Doi. He is amazing! Not only he works on my son's OT goals, but also on his emotional regulation, always checking in how he is feeling and supporting him at all times. Chris keeps us always informed on what will be done in a session and always has the most amazing, caring attitude towards my son. Chris is always finding new activities that align not only with my son's needs, but also with his interests and building his independence and autonomy. I feel truly blessed for having found a place like JLD where the therapists are true professionals who not only focus on the goals, but who show love, respect, and care about children as human beings. ... and JLD has been the ONLY organization that has worked for us during virtual learning! Our family has been working with Ms. Jacqueline Friduss for the past year. When we started we were very concerned about how this would work for our daughter. She was starting at 18 months with ZERO WORDS... We did not know if they would be able to meet her needs so young. We got so lucky being assigned to Ms. Jacqueline. She is extremely knowledgable and attentive to our needs and concerns. We attended the sessions with our daughter and she always gave us advice and techniques at the end of our sessions for us to try at home. She always remembered what we discussed and would follow up at our next session. We took it all to heart and would practice at home. We always felt like she was 100% honestly with us about our child's progress and what we needed to work on. Now, a year later, our daughter will be graduating from Speech Therapy soon. As an educator, I can tell you that If you get Ms. Jacqueline, I promise you will not be disappointed. She really is one of the best I have seen. FYI- They do take Kaiser insurance. This is a review for Jennifer Alva Lewis. I took my 6 week old daughter to see Jennifer since we were having difficulty around feeding (feeding aversions and classic signs of reflux) and I'm so glad that we found her. When I first called, we weren't going to get seen for another one or two weeks out. I even called the front desk to ask if we can be seen earlier but they said no. BUT when Jennifer saw our intake form and noticed it was for a newborn, she had her team call us back right away to be seen the following day. You can imagine when a baby is not eating well, you don't really have a week to wait, so we're thankful she made an exception to see us so quickly. Upon meeting her, I was calmed by her warm and caring demeanor. She is attentive to our daughter and reassuring to us as first time parents. She is gentle and waits for baby's permission. She helped observe some behaviors with our daughter and gave us advice that helped reduce baby choking when feeding. What really knocked the ball out do the park is Jennifer even went out of the way to check in on us. She even wrote a referral letter for us so that we can be seen sooner by a different specialist. She made sure to share observations with us so that we can continue to work on improving my daughters situation. I wish every pediatric provider was like Jennifer L. If you want to switch the therapist then JLD have only one option STOP your kid development program since they do not have availability or short staff. or Stuck with one you don't like. How could the operator told us stop your development service until they find the therapies. Also no option for changing the location. So much inconvenience was not expected for from JLD specially operators. for me JLD means stop your kids Development if they don't have enough staff. read more

We saw Jennifer Lewis for Feeding Therapy for my newborn after he had his tongue and lip ties released (frenectomy) at 15 days old. His initial recovery and progress after the procedure (pre-feeding therapy) was very slow and I wasn't seeing much improvement. Thankfully, after 6 weeks of this, we contacted a new pediatric dentist who referred us to Jennifer at Joy & Laughter. Throughout the course of 9 weekly sessions with Jennifer, we saw a major change in his tongue movement and abilities. She gave us exercises to do at home each week and worked with him in person to develop his skills. She was extremely knowledgeable about oral function and tongue, lip, and buccal ties. She answered any and all questions I had and my son loved his therapy sessions with her. He graduated from therapy 2 weeks ago and is a completely different baby with his abilities to both bottle and breastfeed since we started with her. At our first session he could barely move his tongue around in his mouth and now we are seeing amazing range of motion. He is able to transfer milk efficiently and has even jumped from the 18th to 42nd percentile for weight-- I believe this is due to his improved breastfeeding skills and oral function. I had gone down the rabbit hole with my research and saw so many daunting experiences about recovery from tongue tie releases, so I was very anxious and frustrated when we started therapy at Joy & Laughter. I am so grateful to Jennifer for her knowledge and hard work with my son. I'm proud we now have a tongue tie release success story and owe so much of that to her! I highly recommend any parent considering a tongue tie release for their infant contact Joy & Laughter and Jennifer Lewis to pair the procedure with Feeding Therapy sessions. We have been with JLD for a year now and couldn't be happier. The experience has been phenomenal. My kid receives Speech therapy and Occupational therapy here. He went from speaking a few words to being able to have short conversations and ask questions. He also learned about the zones of regulation and that has helped him dramatically improve his ability to cope with transitions in the past year. My son was advised to see a speech therapist due to his speech delay. He was actually sent to see a therapist in Stanford but their list was about 1 year long wait. As a mom who wants intervention went online and did a massive digging and research. I came across Joy and Laughter and read many reviews. I finally took the bullet and called but it was after 5 so I left a message. I received a call the following day and here we are 4 months later. The therapist my son has been seeing is Ms. Viry. The first time we met with Ms. Viry she evaluated and set goals for him. I know that we're not that far a long his therapy, but we have already seen improvement. Ms. Viry is very caring, knowledgeable of her expertise and can't wait to keep working with her as we move a long this journey. My son has has been receiving speech therapy for a few months now. Although our therapist is terrific, the scheduling is making me hate this company. They have messed up several times. Always double booking or giving us the wrong dates and making us miss sessions. Then penalizing us for the missed sessions. Not to mention when I requested paperwork one time via email they sent me someone else's with all the child's info (social security number and address included) violating HIPPA and when I addressed the issue they brushed it off. So unprofessional. If our therapist wasn't so great we would have left already. read more

The receptionist is extremely kind and honest She was very informative and welcoming. The therapists have all been fantastic.
