It ended before it ever started. I went in for my first appointment and was told that I MUST leave my credit card information in order to be treated. When I declined, I was told it was a dealbreaker according to the new management. So I graciously left because they would not see me. The crazy part is the next day. I received a text stating that I need to pay $100 because I missed my initial appointment. I called and spoke to the manager, she stated that there was no note entered. Yeah, that's on them. I went in for an injury and my time lasted exactly 20 minutes that included evaluation, 3 exercise routines, sales pitch for a band, and payment. this review is PURELY about the business owners policies. a big F U to whoever owns this clinic as you are disgustingly greedy. So I have had about 50 appointments over the past 6 months here. I missed 2, due to unforeseen circumstances. On the second one, they explained to me that their policy is to charge $50 for a "no show" or a cancellation with less than 24 hours notice. However, during this time, my therapist was able to call in sick at least 4 times and once I got a text in the morning about 30 min prior to when my appointment was about to start informing me that my therapist was sick and out for the day. ALL of my therapists "sick days" were left with me getting notified LESS than 24 hours in advance. WTF? If you're gonna charge me $50 for missing an appointment, then you should ADD $50 to my balance when my therapist is unable to make it last minute. WTF is up with business owners thinking they can have a double standard. There are plenty of physical therapy locations in the south bay, and most of them take my insurance, so I'll be damned if I give this place another dime. Side note. All the therapist aides have been nice and generally friendly, and the place is easy to find with ample parking, so there's that. Maybe if I had lied and said I was sick and unable to make it, I would have been extended the same courtesy to not be charged $50 for a no show, since therapists are obviously allowed to do so. read more

Extremely disappointing. I've been a repeat client at Best for several years. Owner Kathy was *fabulous*. New owner? Let's see...she was late for our initial appointment. Her clothing was sloppy. Should have been neat & tidy, like everyone else that works there. Her hair? Uncombed. The questions she asked were all on the prescription form I'd dropped off the week before. I asked several times if she'd read it. Oh yes, she said. Then WHY are you asking me questions that would be answered if you'd read the prescription?? Very frustrating. I am extremely grateful for the excellent treatment that I received from BEST Physical Therapy. I recently injured my right knee due to improper exercises that I received from a "trainer." My knee was swollen, my calf and shin muscles were tight and hurting, it was painful to walk for several days. My job is very physical which further stressed my knee injury. After receiving physical therapy from BEST and doing the exercises recommended my knee is now pain free. My therapist gave me information regarding proper and improper leg exercises, so that I wouldn't cause damage to my knee in the future. I greatly appreciated the knowledge, experience and professionalism that BEST provided. - I would also like to add that I've since learned that some "trainers" receive very little education or training on what are the best exercises for their clients. I found out that my "trainer" was getting a lot of her information from online videos. BEST offers fitness & training classes, I plan on taking advantage of some these classes. read more

This is the first time I've really understood the role physical therapy plays in helping one heal and I thank the folks at BEST for that! They take the time to explain the mechanics of what's happening and how strengthening the muscles around the injury will keep things properly aligned so all parts can work pain free. They are excellent about teaching form and helping one to get stronger in a steady progression. I got a severe lower back pain due to disk herniationI and Piriformis syndrome in May 2022. In the beginning of the acute phase, the symptom was so bad that I could hardly walk on my own or get on/off bed in a normal way. After the most painful days of acute phase, I started visit BEST Physical Therapy near my home regularly per my doctor's recommendation. My PT Kim is very professional and very friendly. With her help and the selected exercises she customized for my case, I've been gaining strength and stability of my back and having less and less pain sooner than I expected. I am on my second round of Physical Therapy (for two different issues) a few months apart - both at Best Physical Therapy. I have seen Kathy, Kinjal, and Adan and would highly recommend all of them. I first started PT at Best Physical Therapy in 2008. Over the years I have been back after other surgeries and now for a total knee replacement. The staff, from the ones who greet you at the desk, to the physical therapist, the aides who help you do the exercises correctly, and the office staff, are so friendly and helpful. Over the years I have seen several different PT's at Best Physical Therapy who have all been very helpful. My husband also appreciates the treatment he has received there. I am currently seeing Adan after my knee replacement surgery. He is so patient, a great listener to my concerns and very kind. As I am a senior, he often has to review things with me several times, like different exercises until I finally get it! When I feel discouraged, because I get impatient with my recovery, he convinces me I am doing well and shows me how to look at my progress in a different light so that I can see I am getting better. The space where you are treated is set up very well,. The exercise equipment is monitored by the aids and the PTS to make sure it is set up correctly for each individual. Those of us "of a certain age" appreciate a great PT, as things do tend to go haywire from time to time, but a lot of teen athletes and folks of all ages also benefit from the care of Kathy and her staff. BEST ROCKS! Physical therapy varies widely and skilled ones are few and far between. I'm always sad to hear from a friend that they have not found pain relief in spite of months of physical therapy. The physical therapist sometimes needs to push the person into uncomfortable without crossing the line into pain. Both Kathy and Kathryn excel at finding the fine line between discomfort and pain to achieve maximum improvement. My knee was so stiff I could hardly bend it to lift my foot off the floor. It wasn't certain if I could improve to the minimum desired for stability and to navigate steps. After a month and a half I have surpassed the minimum and I continue to improve. I'm able to go up and down stairs without clicking and fear. My appointments have mostly been at 7 AM (a few afternoon appointments) and they are always open and already there when I arrive. The assistants are always pleasant, helpful and notice immediately when stimulation or ice time is completed. They have never kept me waiting. read more

BEST Physical Therapy is the best PT facility I've been referred to over many years in San Jose. This is the first I've felt fully gained an understanding of my particular injury, listened to concerns and goals and set a program that paces to increasing abilities with just the right amount of progress at the right time. It can be a challenge to strengthen safely while recovering, and they consistently have provided exceptional physical therapy. I've also enjoyed my interactions with the office staff as well. I've been most impressed with how setbacks have been met with compassion and guidance on how best to get back on track, plus training on the movements life calls for that can present greater risk. They pay more attention to functionality and safety outside the clinic and progress up through exercises safely than others I've been referred to in the past. I would give them a zero if possible. Their name should be changed to WORST PHYSICAL THERAPY EVER. I had a 700am appointment this morning. I am not a morning person so this definitely wasn't a time I selected. I got up at 530am and I arrived at 650am. When I arrived they told me I was early...duh. I know that. She said my person usually doesn't come in until 730a. I said well I was told to be here at 700am so I am here. I asked her to call the person to make sure they would be there by 700am. She told me she didn't have her number, which was a lie. At 710am she called the physical therapist & they spent 5 minutes on the phone talking about why she doesn't come in until 730am. When they finally got off to phone, the assistant told me I could wait & she will be in at 730am. She told me I could fill out my new patient forms. I basically told her I don't have time to start my appointment at 730am as I scheduled my entire day around 7-8am appointment here. (I have four doctors appointments today & I don't feel like being late to the professionals who actually show up on time.) This group is completely UNPROFESSIONAL and if they can't read their schedule I sure don't think they have the skills to actually do physical therapy. I would HIGHLY recommend you find your physical therapy elsewhere...where they show up to actually do the physical therapy. read more

I worked with Lisa Yee and Lizette while I was at the Almaden Best physical therapy location. They were nice, but I felt like they didn't take my injury seriously. They were quite vague when answering my questions and I'd always have to go home to google to get a more precise answer. The exercises I did were not making it any better, the stretching did though. I honestly feel like I would've had a better recovery experience from watching youtube videos online. I'm still not 100% recovered, but I'd rather take care of it myself, with my own knowledge and research, than pay good money to have these people do it. Your mileage may vary but I will not be coming back. There are plenty of other good physical therapists in San Jose. read more

Kathy has been my go to person for all of my injuries over the years. Kathy rehabbed my surgically repaired rotator-cuff and got me back on the Little League field with my son. I also worked through a knee surgery with Kathy. I have also worked on my lower back several times and most recently opted for CORE training classes with Kathy's staff to avoid spinal injections. PT involves a therapist that knows what he/she is doing as well as a staff and facilities to get the job done and BEST has done the job. A few years ago, I credited them with helping me avoid surgery for a torn hip labrum, which they spotted long before the MRI confirmed! I was going through rehab for a TKR. it was a very difficult time. I was advised to attend best therapy and was eventually assigned to Daniel for therapy. Daniel was very concerned and helpful throughout my 32 weeks of therapy. He understood my pain and my goals I wanted to accomplish. Daniel was knowledgeable and also showed concern with my injury. I am 80 years old and have been to 3 other physiotherapy places in San Jose and Los Gatos but was not cured of my back problems until I visited Cathy Johnson at BEST Physical. I have had stenosis (inflammation) in my lower back since a long time and had to even move around at home with a cane. My back used to flare up whenever I lifted even 10 to 15 lbs of groceries or worked in the garage or backyard. After a series of sessions at Cathy's 4 years back, my back is normal again. I attend their 'core' (back stabilization) classes twice a week since 4 years. Now I walk 3 miles a day, am fairly active, and have my normal life back thanks to Cathy. I have to start by saying that I hardly review anything but felt this was very important to do. I say this because Kathy Johnson and her staff have worked wonders for my lower back disc issue and overall chronic pain I was living with. I had tried everything under the sun and quickly learned I should have started here earlier. I herniated a lower disc that pinched my S1, and if anyone knows pain, this meant emergency! I worked with B.E.S.T to allow movement and allow myself to get through the outpatient surgery. I then worked with B.E.S.T to properly recover, exercise and eliminate this from happening again. If you want to be able to return to regular daily life, then take it from an avid wakeboarding, snowboarding, and sports junkie! I will be wakeboarding this summer!!! read more
