This great tampa couple did my daughters 3rd birthday cake a couple years back. They did such an amazing job. Their specialty is wedding cakes but when i was running out of options I chose them! (They are pretty pricey but that's because they deliver QUALITY) I'm glad I did though because in my search for someone to design her cake no one was willing to do exactly what I wanted. Hands On Sweets told me they would make it exactly as I requested and there wouldn't be any issues and that's exactly what they delivered. They delivered to the party and laid everything down and asked if I had any concerns or if I was happy with my service. I ordered a cake, cookies and matching cake pops. Unicorn themed! Everything tasted as good as it looked! I'm not sure why I took so long to make this review years later BUT they deserve 5 stars! Better late than never! Chef Marie and her husband are an absolute delight to work with! I was throwing a baby shower for my sister and wanted a memorable gift favor that I knew wouldn't go to waste. I looked everywhere for someone to help me create bear and acorn cake pops but no one could help me. I'm extremely grateful that chef Marie and her team took on my request. We chose Hands on Sweets for our daughter's wedding and groom's cake based on 5-star Google reviews and we were not disappointed. There is no doubt that they are a talented, creative, and highly professional team and can custom design and bake your dream cake too. Chefs Marie and Carlos were able to take my somewhat scattered ideas and turn them into an artistic, culinary reality - personalized especially for the newlyweds. Chef Marie made a huge effort to simplify the experience for us. It went from stressing out to stress free. Being a "big" surprise to the couple complicated by our being out-of-state parents, made it extremely difficult for us, yet they handled everything to the last, perfect detail: contacting the venue, delivery, setting up, etc. My only task was to drop off the cake topper and some custom decorations. I can't say enough about Chef Marie's patience and flexibility. We began with a traditional wedding design but then discovered the wedding venue was a rustic theme. Three months of emails later, Chef Marie was able to switch gears, start from square one, and produce an elegant (and fun) cake duo, complimented by tree bark and rope pedestals, a luscious cascade of sugar flowers set against frosting ferns, with custom accents on the serving pieces. The bride's cake was an amazing Vanilla Chiffon Cake with Vanilla Bean Buttercream frosting and the groom's cake was Chocolate Cake with Chocolate Ganache on the top tier and Chocolate Buttercream on the bottom. I hope they post photos so you can see how beautiful, creative and scrumptious, the cakes were. Truly, next to the bride and groom, they were the centerpiece of the reception room. My daughter received compliments from women and men throughout the evening. (At one point the groom and his friends stood around his cake, just fascinated, and talked about how cool it was.) In my daughter's words, "Mom, the cakes were a Hit." That, was our goal. Hands on Sweets made it happen. And we are grateful. read more

We engaged Hands On Sweets to make our wedding cakes, and here's what you need to know about them: 1- The chefs, Carlos and Marie, are incredibly kind and helpful. Any time we had a question or request, they were responsive and really quick to offer suggestions that clearly came from years of experience both as pastry chefs and participants in the complexities of event planning. 2- The cake is so delicious that I want to use some really strong language to describe it, but I don't want this review to get censored, so OH MY GOODNESS will have to suffice. We got two wedding cakes, one chocolate cake with chocolate ganache and fresh strawberries, the other lemon cake with lemon curd and raspberry preserves... and our guests were floored. My mother-in-law begged a plastic bag off of the wedding venue to smuggle some out in her purse, that's how good it was. 3- They're accommodating! A few of our guests had allergies, so we requested a dozen vegan-gluten-free cupcakes, and Chef Marie went over and beyond, and decorated the cupcakes to look like popcorn boxes. I saw a few non-vegans sampling them too! 4- They really want you to be happy with the end result. That's what matters most to Marie and Carlos, and it shows in the way they treat their customers and the way they make their cakes. I would highly recommend using Hands on Sweets for your specialty cake needs. We had them make our wedding cake as well as cupcakes for the kids who were attending our wedding. The cake was not only absolutely beautiful but tasted amazing (pics to follow when I get them back). I received nothing but rave reviews from guests on how much they loved the cake. The entire experience of working with Hands on Sweets to create our wedding cake was a true joy! It all started when we met with Chef Marie for a tasting. We were amazed by the fact that she was able to listen to the details of what we were hoping for and immediately sketch out a picture of what the cake could look like. It's that kind of artistry that makes Hands on Sweets special. And make no mistake about it- the taste of the cake matches the beauty of its looks! During our tasting, we had the pleasure of enjoying a number of different flavor combinations, but ultimately we went with two choices: 1) pink champagne cake with strawberry coulis and vanilla buttercream, and 2) lemon chiffon cake with raspberry coulis and raspberry buttercream. Just rewriting the descriptions of those cake flavors (each for different cake layers) makes my mouth water. The cake was perfect- tasty, smooth, and easy to enjoy. Our guests said they loved both of the unique flavor combinations, and we couldn't be more pleased with how everything turned out. After doing lots of shopping and cake tasting around the entirety of Tampa bay area (I research everything), I found this gem, Hands on Sweets. The team of two lovely couple make THE BEST CAKES I HAVE EVER TASTED. The tasting event went quickly from discussing details to admiration of the cake and the perfectly balanced taste. I never even thought fondant is this delicious. We talked with them about the design and months later, they delivered. It was PERFECT. I don't think I can get this from anywhere else. Out of all the wedding planning we did, this has to be one of my favorite experiences. I recommend them to every wedding I am invited to just to have the cake again. One of the most unprofessional experiences I have ever had. Took over 20 days to get back to us just to decline our event BEFORE even speaking with us. (We put $600 as a budget) that's why they declined us with no explanation. We would of gladly gone higher had we had a discussion. Stay away from this place and it's unprofessional practices.
