The inside is a decent size with tables, cute decor and lots of plants. When I first walked in, I was taken back by how beautiful the pastry display cases were!! I had the hardest time choosing which pastry to get because they all looked like works of art!! Super friendly staff, great service but now to get to the goods: the coffee and pasties. This is a true authentic French bakery, no doubt in my mind. The iced salted caramel latte is the best I have EVER had. I could taste every flavor and it blended with the coffee perfectly. The ham and cheese croissant was so flakey, the perfect ham ratio and just all around fantastic. The pastry I got had raspberry jam and white chocolate ganache (I don't remember the name of it) and it was seriously the best pastry I've ever had. Most pastries can be too sweet, but this was just right. The jam tasted fresh and homemade (probably is!) and the white chocolate ganache gave it just a touch of sweetness. It is a little pricey so be warned: $48 for two coffees and two pastries. Definitely worth a splurge!!

They were huge and priced to match. Having been to France where they are a few euros, it feels inconceivable to pay $10 for a croissant but perhaps it's like getting 2. Yes, I would get it again but sticker makes it a treat opposed to a regular buy...sorry that's my one knock. Good lamination of the pastry dough with a cream filling made it both a great breakfast or snack treat to share. The pistachio crusted was wonderful. Guava cream even pleased a friend who tried our bounty. Service was pleasant but we didn't interact much since it was boxed and ready to go. Nice bakery with more goodies that we may need to try next time. Parking was easy and had a cool vibe. Can feel their passion. See hand in pic for size! Enjoy!

They have four locations, and we went to the one in the Ybor City Historic District. La Segunda is an institution for Cuban bread and pastries, baking 18K loaves daily and ships nationwide via Goldbelly. Our niece's BF is Cuban, and he said buy anything with guava. In the box (see photo), we bought two each of guava flip (kind of a folded tart or empanada), guava turnover, and guava flip with cream cheese. All of them are delicious! I like the flaky guava turnovers the most even though they didn't survive the transportation across the country in my backpack as well as some of the others. Even though slightly crumbly, still yummy! I also bought butter cookies, sold by the pound. Those are relatively ordinary; I'll skip those in the future. Next time, we are carrying Cuban sandwiches home! I really wish I carried them home. I was having Cuban sandwich withdrawal. This location is older but functional; there isn't seating. Their customers know what they want, and everything moves FAST. If it's your visit (like it was for us), I suggest looking at the menu online to know what to order. The service is friendly, even though I can tell he was a bit exasperated that I didn't just yell out my order and I asked questions. I honestly don't fault him. Busy places have their own pace, and the customers are the ones to keep up. That's perfectly ok.

Unfortunately, the pizza was disappointing. The meat lovers pizza appeared to contain only sausage and pepperoni, despite being described as including bacon and ham as well. The overall quality and flavor reminded me more of cafeteria-style pizza than what I expected from a restaurant with Alessi's long-standing reputation. The 1912 salad, while fresh, priced at $16 for a large, also felt overpriced for both the portion size and ingredients. It consisted primarily of lettuce with a few strips of ham and salami and a small amount of finely shredded cheddar cheese. The Asian chicken salad offered a bit more substance, but by 11:00 a.m. they had apparently run out of the Thai dressing and substituted Italian dressing instead. The replacement dressing did not complement the salad well. Whether it was house-made or purchased, it tasted like a standard bottled dressing, and a more suitable alternative would have greatly improved the dish. The pastries were the highlight of the meal and the one aspect that truly stood out. Going forward, we'll likely stick to what Alessi is best known for and skip the rest. After spending approximately $120, I expected a much better overall experience. Given Alessi's excellent reputation and years in business, this visit simply did not live up to expectations.
