Every year, Vincent and I sit down with Mario to design the cake around whatever he's into that year, and those memories alone are priceless. Mario is incredibly patient, creative, and kind with Vincent, and the cakes are always beyond amazing. Not only are they beautiful, but they are honestly the BEST tasting cakes we've had anywhere. Everything tastes fresh, homemade, and high-quality -- never overly artificial or too sweet. Every single year, Mario delivers perfection, and the cake always becomes the centerpiece of the party. We are so grateful for Cake Plus and highly recommend them!

This will be my first time coming out to this location, which is a little harder to get to than the Linebaugh location, but with a little luck and patience in the S. Dale Mabry traffic, I managed to get in. The outside of the building is quite unique and welcoming amongst the other surrounding buildings, triangle-shaped with a few cute cafe chairs outside. I got my order to go, but I did marvel at the adorable inside of the shop with more cafe tables that look homey and inviting. The lady behind the counter was nice and greeted with upon arrival, and was patient as I perused my selection. My favorite cupcake of theirs, the mocha cupcake, wasn't there, so I had to stop and REALLY look at the other choices in front of me, WHICH WERE A LOT and it was hard to really zero in on what I'd like. I noticed the poundcakes behind the case and immediately thought, maybe I'd try those instead of the cupcakes. They're a decent size, and I've never had them before, and the flavors intrigued me. I selected a coconut rum poundcake since it is coconut cake versus plain butter like the others and was feeling like coconut. I added the packaged cookies behind the case as well. I remember how great the cookies were, and though the selection wasn't what I remembered from the last shop, I still found what I'd like. I was not disappointed with either selection. The cookies were mildly sweet and I could really appreciate the almond flavoring in it, soft, buttery, and kinda crisp around the edges but dense in the middle like a very delicious shortbread. The sprinkles added a nice whimsical touch. And man, am I glad I went with something different. The poundcake was quite heavy and big, and for a moment, I was worried that I wouldn't be able to finish it (imagine that!), but NO. The heaviness is from the rum it's soaked in. The cake itself is very soft and buttery, with a delicate taste of rum and coconut. I enjoyed the coconut icing with flaked coconuts on top for an additional touch of sweetness. They do allow my Muffin there in her carriage, so I would definitely have to come back for a cupcake and latte (or of course, the poundcake).

This new location is massive, but the food is still the same. I have several critiques, but the only things I'm going to mention are these: first, the pastry counter is way too high. No one can really see over it at the employee behind unfortunately, and patrons don't seem to understand how to get in line or order. There needs to be permanent markers set up so people can view from behind the counter areas and then order once they are called it has been a cluster the five times I've been into the shop. As well as the employees are visibly stressed because of the above Second, I don't think there was any reason to bring in a name-brand coffee shop. You are a huge Tampa brand that has been around for a very long time, and you could have sold your own coffee for a much cheaper price. kind of crushed the charm of a true cuban coffee experience. Lastly, there should be a one-ticket system. I enjoy buying something from every area of the store, but having to swipe my credit card three or four times is a buzzkill. There is no reason, in this day and age, that this should be a problem. You should be able to carry your ticket until you're ready to check out. This is one of my favorite places of all time an the new location is very nice, I'm sure it will just take some time to get everything figured out.

Absolutely recommend. 20/10 no notes!!!…read more Tucked into a plaza, I've seen this spot so many times and finally was able to check it out. The inside is a decent size with tables, cute decor and lots of plants. When I first walked in, I was taken back by how beautiful the pastry display cases were!! I had the hardest time choosing which pastry to get because they all looked like works of art!! Super friendly staff, great service but now to get to the goods: the coffee and pasties. This is a true authentic French bakery, no doubt in my mind. The iced salted caramel latte is the best I have EVER had. I could taste every flavor and it blended with the coffee perfectly. The ham and cheese croissant was so flakey, the perfect ham ratio and just all around fantastic. The pastry I got had raspberry jam and white chocolate ganache (I don't remember the name of it) and it was seriously the best pastry I've ever had. Most pastries can be too sweet, but this was just right. The jam tasted fresh and homemade (probably is!) and the white chocolate ganache gave it just a touch of sweetness. It is a little pricey so be warned: $48 for two coffees and two pastries. Definitely worth a splurge!!
