After ordering at the iPad, my boyfriend and I walked to the patio for a table unbeknownst to us that we had to wait by the counter for our coffees. They called out our name for the food though. My favorite part of the meal was the herb aioli, it was the perfect compliment to the fries and tater tots. The biscuit wasn't as thick or fluffy as I like but the filling of the chicken classic was good. There was a huge problem with flies at the picnic tables and it made the meal way less enjoyable. By the time we arrived around 11AM, the parking lot was packed and the line was out the door. (Always a good sign!) The line moved steadily and we placed our order once we made it to the front. Even though I'm not a huge fan of dill, I decided to try the Dill Na Na, since it sounded so good. I was not disappointed! The potato onion frittata was hearty and paired nicely with the greens. Delivery of fries and tots is never perfect so I reheated them for a minute in my air fryer/countertop convection. They were some of the best tots I've had. We used to come here often but after we moved it's a far trek to go to Norfolk. We decided to make a day of it and start off my having breakfast here. It has changed a lot. I guess after COVID they had to streamline their menu? The sweet potato biscuits were tough and flat. The choices are limited now. The jelly and peanut butter aren't homemade anymore. Idk how to feel about Handsome biscuit. The photos look phenomenal but the taste was missing for me. I got the Nashville which wasn't spicy and the biscuit had that pillsberry can biscuit taste. They honestly tasted better as left overs. The highlight for me was the collard greens omg! Delicious!! I visited handsome biscuit the Sunday before Memorial Day. Everyone and there mom was there and the poor cashier girl was ringing people up, as well as, running food. Maybe invest in an intercom system so people can come get their food instead of clogging up the already small entry way to wait? Also these biscuits are expensive! i used to go to handsome biscuit fairly often back in high school when they were on monarch way & when my little cousin recently came to town seeking "a banging breakfast sandwich" we decided to visit the newer norfolk location on colonial. with the memory of the hella fitzgerald biscuit in mind, i was so excited & unfortunately disappointed.. the chicken either wasn't seasoned at all, or not very well. same thing with the gravy :/ overall it was very bland and way smaller than it used to be - but ofc the same price. the cold brew was also extremely watered down & im not even picky about coffee, but $5 for that cup was insane. i mean it was like someone ran hotel coffee through a brita. id love to give it another shot because i hate fallling victim to chain brekky spots that are usually mid & overpriced, but idk. good prices though by today's standard, maybe it'd be great for a hangover or people who don't have a well seasoned palate. not sure if they allow dogs, but if they did & you have a reactive dog like me, they had a nice little outdoor patio that'd be nice if it wasn't busy (only one other group there when we went). read more

I couldn't even get to the food because one of the HB staffmate's actions. Following physical distancing guidelines, I was waiting right outside the HB's door with one of my family members, along with a couple of groups that were lined up behind us. As we were waiting a HB staffmate came outside with a to-go order. They did NOT greet us, yet did so with the other patrons behind us (asking if the order belonged to any of the others waiting). They even found themselves kindly addressing a person in a vehicle that rudely barked their order out to them. On their way back after delivering the to-go order they directly addressed every group again (asking if anyone had a to-go order or were in line to order at the counter). They did not address us at all. They just kept walking past us pretending we were invisible. The staffmate came outside again and ignored us once more. They walked passed us and wouldn't even acknowledge us. As the only set of black people in line, who were continuously ignored - there was only one way we could take this - our presence did not matter. If we were insignificant enough to not warrant a greeting or check-in like everyone else, then our patronage was not needed. We left without ordering. I struggled about whether to post my experience. However, not acknowledging everyone respectfully and excluding us from receiving the same type of customer service is beyond hurtful. On top of that, this all had a ripple effect on my family. Returning home without what we intended and then having to recount the story - it's traumatic for all those around me. They too were hurt by this lack of acknowledgment. They wanted respect and kindness for us like all the other people in line.
