Nothing but great service from the moment we arrived. This is a very cutesy and cozy establishment. There's adequate seating with two levels and a patio (you don't feel on top of each other). I was happy they accepted reservations. Kimberli B., our waitress, was a gym! Very attentive and kind. Our party ordered the Brussel Sprouts, Shrimp and Grits, Filet Mignon Benedict, Monte Cristo. Everyone loved the smokey flavor of the Brussels. The shrimp and grits were very filling and full of flavor w/ a kick. My friend said, "The cream sauce is a chef's kiss!" Monte Cristo was flavorful with a nice sweetness to it that melts in your mouth. My other friend stated the Filet Mignon Benedict is "Heaven in your mouth!" Suggestion: Order it medium well. She ordered it medium and it came out medium rare (still good). Everyone was full and happy from their meals!

I met my mom and dad here on a Saturday morning the day before Mother's Day. Luckily they had a reservation cause it was quite busy, but I loved the interior decor. Our waitress came over quickly and I ordered a creamsickle crush, which was delicious. I also ordered an eggs Benedict, which was also delicious and a large portion that I was able to take home and eat for another meal. We had a great time. The service was amazing and look forward to going back!

We made a special trip to Rustic Spoon for my husband's birthday because their website listed scotch eggs, which was something he'd been craving forever and that we hadn't been able to find anywhere around town. It happened to be Restaurant Week, which made us a little nervous, but it ended up being totally fine. The dining room never felt overly crowded, the noise level was comfortable, and having the Restaurant Week prix fixe, drink specials, and regular menu all available gave us plenty of options without feeling overwhelming. One small note: the plastic logo cups served with the water decanter felt a little out of place. They were a bit sharp on the lips and didn't quite match the rest of the dining experience. Minor detail, but noticeable. The drinks, however, were excellent. On our server's recommendation, my husband ordered the Gingerbread Old Fashioned and I had the Salted Caramel Martini. Both were seasonal specials and both were fantastic. When we asked about the scotch eggs, our server explained they're normally a brunch-only item. We were a little disappointed (and may have made a few pouty faces while explaining we'd come specifically for them for his birthday), but we quickly let it go, it obviously wasn't her fault. What we didn't realize was that she went back and told the kitchen manager that it was his birthday and that we'd made the trip just for those scotch eggs. Since the kitchen wasn't slammed, they decided to make them anyway and surprised us with an order. We were honestly floored. My husband was thrilled. That kind of thoughtfulness is rare. And the scotch eggs were exactly what he'd been hoping for! They were crispy on the outside with a rich, savory center. For entrées, his Nashville Hot Chicken was juicy with the perfect amount of heat without being overwhelming. My Haystack Burger was stacked and delicious, though the BBQ sauce was strong enough to overshadow the pickled green tomato a bit. The fries were fantastic - crispy, battered, and perfect from first bite to last. Our server checked in at all the right times and kept drinks refilled without us needing to ask. The fact that she went out of her way to do something special during one of the busiest weeks on a restaurant's calendar says a lot about both her and the restaurant. Rustic Spoon is the kind of place that works just as well for a casual date night as it does for a birthday dinner or a night out with friends.

Thursday night is 1/2 price burger night. Their Smash burger was excellent. Excellent happy hour specials.

This place is amazing. Had the stuffed French toast and Lemosa for brunch and it was sooooo friggn awesome. The service was on point and the outside dining area was kept clean by attentitive staff. Note: If you like teeny tiny bites look elsewhere. The food is generous and tasteful and an experience in itself. I would come back here again when in town

The Rustic Spoon is a must visit! The food is absolutely delicious. The chicken and waffle oh my goodness delicious perfectly crispy on the outside, just how I like my waffle. The chicken is a boneless thigh tender and juicy. My sister said the seafood omelette was full of good seafood very refreshing and flavorful. Also, while I didn't order the potatoes but I tried them from another plate at the table and oh my goodness I love good potatoes. The atmosphere was quiet and spacious, making it a great place to enjoy a relaxing meal. The service was exceptional, friendly, attentive, and welcoming from start to finish. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for great food and great service. I can't wait to return!

I decided to give Rustic Spoon another try after not being impressed with my Cuban Sandwich in my first visit. Both visits the service was great! The staff were inviting and friendly. It was a cold day so we asked to be near a heater vent and they offered for us to sit near the fire place. Now let's get to what this review is really about THE STUFFED FRENCH TOAST! It had a nice presentation and was absolutely delicious! It was more of a desert so I got Brussels sprouts to balance it out . Both entrees could have feed 3 ppl.

I came to celebrate my sister's birthday, but to her surprise, I brought our other sisters and our mom along with us! The staff was in on it and Anthony did such a great job playing along. My sister was so surprised. They seated us at the best table in the house on the loft with a view. We caught up over some delicious food. We didn't get any boozy drinks because we just got off the plane, but the Bloody Mary looked good. A woman at another table had a flight (maybe wine) that looked yummy, too! I ordered the scotch egg. We all shared our dishes which included a seafood omlet, mushroom toast, & crab cake bites.

If this isn't on one of your favorite brunch spots in the Hampton Roads, you're doing brunch wrong. If you can, I recommend making a reservation as they can get pretty busy quickly during brunch. Parking is fairly easy to secure in the parking lot out front. Today I wanted to deviate from my normal carnitas hash and I ordered the special of the day, carne asada hash that was loaded with meat and fresh jalapeños and crumbled cheese. So fresh and flavorful with every bite. Another sweet treat from the specials, we tried their cinnamon roll with extra additions of candied walnuts and caramel rum butter. My boyfriend got his usual shrimp and grits--absolutely to die for with the savory sauce and plentiful amount of shrimp and sausage. The mimosa flight is always our go to pick for drinks. Our server was attentive and we always enjoy a lovely, filling brunch from the Rustic Spoon in their indoor dining area. Rating: 5/5

Came in on a Saturday at 11am. The wait was about 60-90min for a table inside so we decided to sit outside which had no wait. We were a party of 4. The waitress was very nice and friendly. I ordered the mushroom toast as my entree and it was tasty! They didn't skimp out on the mushrooms or toppings. My friends ordered the mushroom omelette, fried tomatoes and steak and eggs - they both enjoyed and finished their plates! I really liked the biscuit, good flavor and a bit salty but it was fine. The coffee was just ok, nothing special. Fairly affordable meal and would definitely come back to try their other items.

Stopped by for a burger and a beer to drown in my solitude. Had great service. Prompt, attentive and genuine. Only downside was some pretentious guy named Jeff kept whining about the hostess and the service being "special needs" because he couldn't get his group prompt service under 15 minutes on a special holiday. If it wasn't for some derogative guy whining off the bell about how the service wasn't up to par every couple minutes I'd have enjoyed what would've been quite a depressing day for me. Other than that, burger was damn heavenly. Beer was cold and good. Service was grand. Some people just ruin it for others. Great spot, great burger, good beer and good folks. B.W.

The last time I set foot inside their Pleasure House Rd location was at least 10 years ago. I celebrated my birthday there as my friends were kind enough to take me out. It was a Sunday morning and I sought out a place that offered brunch. I noticed 1608 was open and decided to head over, especially since I haven't visited them in ages. When I walked in, I noticed their dining room is dimly lit - much darker than I remember. I was greeted immediately by a kind hostess and she proceeded to sit me at a nearby table and provided me with menus (one food, one alcohol). I took my time looking over the food menu, and in the meantime I ordered a pint of Center of the Universe's Bald Irishman and a bottle of Boylan's Black Cherry soda (they do not have a soda fountain). What made this visit memorable was that 1608's bartender, Hunter, was an old acquaintance from back in my restaurant days. He spotted me and came over to say hi. After my meal, I continued to catch up with him at the bar. His presence made a pleasant experience even more fantastic. I thought I was hungry, so I ordered 2 dishes - Smoked Ham Fried Rice and the Breakfast Burrito. According to Hunter, every item is made fresh in house. After biting into each, you could tell that's true. Both the fried rice and burrito were delicious and boasted lots of flavor. Although I prefer my fried rice a bit simpler (if you give me just garlic fried rice, I am SET), 1608's fried rice (veggies, garlic, soy, basmati rice, 2 runny eggs, smoked ham) had a lot going on, which made for a flavorful dish. I liked the rice and the burrito (Korean style fried chicken breast, scrambled eggs, cilantro lime, cheddar, pico de gallo) a lot. I didn't finish either because it was a lot of food (I really thought I was hungry, haha). But these leftovers turned into a fantastic dinner later on. 1608 looked clean and organized, although I thought it was a little too dark inside, at least for brunch service. That's not a dealbreaker since everything from the food to the service was as excellent as I remember. I hope to return soon with my mom. Regardless, I'll find my way back eventually. Thank you, 1608 Crafthouse! And great seeing you again, Hunter! JV

I like how in the dining area, they put covers over the overhead lights so it isn't super bright. AND THE DRINKS ARE SOOOOOOO GOOD. First time we went, we overheard the waitress say she didn't want to serve us, she was exhausted. Rightfully so, she was the only server. We held nothing against the server, we were peeved with the owner. The woman with the light hair. Took what felt like forever to even get drinks. They were also out of a lot of food... which isn't necessarily a bad thing... but the items I wanted were no longer available so I just ordered the fried green tomatoes. They were fine, they just needed more sauce and a bit more seasoning in the breading! The poor server was just miserable while we were there, and the owner was just kinda walking around telling everyone what needed to be done, not quite helping, more so micro managing. We ended up tipping the poor girl $35. I hope she got to keep it all. Fast forward to this week. We tried it out again. It was a bit warm. We had been Instructed that they had family visiting and if it got too loud to let her know. The noise wasn't the issue at all. When we sat down we saw that it was 76° inside! We wanted to eat though, so we tried to tough it out. There was only one waiter and then another girl helping him serve the food. Again, and I don't know how it happened again, the boy had said to the lady he didn't want to serve us, there was too much going on. She had told him he was going to serve us, strike 1. We ordered all of our food at once to make the poor kid's life a bit easier. We didn't get drinks until about 20 minutes after sitting down. (The pineapple drink bangs btw). And we were literally sitting there DRIPPING sweat. Even the owner had beads of sweat alllll over her face. We ended up asking for our order to go. And my husband ordered his sandwich without Cole slaw. We said that literally a COUPLE of minutes after we ordered. The food magically appeared, and they had US package it all up. And my husband couldn't even tell the owner that he asked for no Cole slaw, but she kept talking over him. And she ended up being the "polite" kind of rude after we asked for our food to go. We weren't angry, we were just hot. But looking back on the bigger picture, it definitely angry. Especially for the young people they have serving. The poor server was so stressed so again, I do not blame the servers. We tipped that bot $25 and again, I hope he gets it ALL. I 100% put the blame on the owners. This place should be a food truck... not a restaurant. The bad reviews didn't make sense to me.... Until they did.

We arrived about 4pm and the parking lot was kind of full but it still was a spot available for us. We walked in was greeted promptly and we had the option to sit inside or Dine Outdoors...knowing myself I love an outdoor adventure so outdoors we went... The Hostess mentioned they have a bridge that was open as well and I believe the bridge is open on Fridays and Saturdays if I'm not mistaken ... nevertheless we decided to dine on the bridge this past Friday. Omg so so so in love!! I can make this review probably about 2 pages long but I'll cut it short for you. Our super cute waitress Haley was the best... attentive informative personable a gem and made our first experience all the more amazing. We did ask for suggestions... she made suggestions for us... I ordered a cocktail and my bestie ordered a beer. My cocktail was just ok but he loved his beer of choice. We didn't want to order anything that was going to be heavy so we decided to split the Godfather Pizza and OMG it was so good so good. We knew we were returning before his departure. Here we are again Sunday during brunch hours and this time we invited another bestie it's a trio yes! We arrived about 2:00 p.m. and still decided to dine outdoors. I believe the bridge wasn't open for whatever reason on Sunday nevertheless we were able to sit on the patio. Our lovely waitress Katie was super as well. Haley and Katie kind of look like twins so I was like okay this experience will probably hit the same as Friday and needless to say it did. Katie was super awesome as well ...super attentive super patient I mean New River these two ladies are keepers and Katie shared with us that she's getting married soon so congratulations again pretty girl. Even though brunch was taking place you are still able to order pizza from the lunch / dinner menu. We ordered the Godfather again of course we ordered the chicken Parmesan pizza I forgot the name of that and the Hawaiian pizza all of them were good but my favorite on this go around was the chicken Parmesan pizza. I ate all of it even though we did share slices amongst us all the Godfather is definitely a close second. We tried the Mimosa flight it was okay I'm not a mimosa girl but the other two in my party they enjoyed it. I did have a glass of the Pinot Noir wine I'm definitely a red wine girl so the wine was right on time...right up my alley. We decided we love it here and when my bestie is visiting from Florida he already said this place is a must dine. The both of us, well three of us if you count the dog, enjoyed our meals. I went with the doggy-style version of the Chicken n Waffles. This take on the classic dish included: a bacon-infused waffle, fried chicken thigh, sausage gravy, candied bacon, and bourbon maple syrup. Overall, I enjoyed the dish with the small exceptions that the batter made the waffle really heavy for my personal tastes. I'm more of a fan of light, fluffy waffles. Unfortunately, I did not know this at the time, but the kitchen puts the syrup on the waffle for you. Personally, I like to add my own syrup because I do not like too much syrup on my waffles (and pancakes). However, those two minor issues did not take away from the dish. Also, the other aspects of the dish made up for those minor inconveniences. My partner ordered the Pongo, which was served with a fried chicken thigh, cheddar biscuit, scrambled egg, sausage gravy, house potatoes. If you are a fan of Bloody Marys, the restaurant has a selection of 4 or 5 interesting Bloody Marys. I went with the Porky's Revenge, which had bacon-infused vodka, Zing Zang Bloody Mary mix and a bacon-dusted rim. Both of us were quite pleased with our selections. Also, come here hungry because the serving sizes are quite large. Because of the large serving sizes, I thought the prices were relatively fair compared to other places the area. Actually, I would change "fair" to "generous". Both of our dishes were about 17 bucks with the 4ish dollar 'doggy style' add on. Generally speaking, our waitress was really on the ball. Although we were sitting outside, she frequently checked in us and was very professional while being funny. Hopefully, we can make another stop here during our next Va. Beach vacation adventure.

I had the lavender drop martini and a margarita both 10 out of 10 if you like sweet go for the lavender drop if you like something strong Margarita it is and this is the first time I've ordered a margarita and it came out in a tall glass and I was a fan of it so kudos to JG for that... On to my meal I ordered the beef tenderloin and asked for a crabcake to be added and I chose the fresh green beans as my side. My meal came out first I could already tell the beef tenderloin was not cooked to my desire of medium well from what I know now someone else at the table had ordered a medium steak so I may have gotten her plate but I let Chloe know and Chloe was able to take that back and get it fixed it came back out still not to my liking however I did begin eating the crab cake and the green beans and they were divine... The third attempt Kelly the manager brought out my tenderloin and it was good at that point it was so good I couldn't stop eating so like I said even though with some bumps in the road throughout our dining experience last night still worthy of five stars super excited to return... I'm interested in trying the happy hour with the different martinis as well as small plates that are at a good price. Solid restaurant Beautiful Highly suggest you check it out if you are into chophouses. Have fun and enjoy life :)

For food we had the cowboy steak, caprese salad, special (seafood pasta), pollo trio, and death by chocolate dessert. Everything was great. Our second round of drinks took a few minutes to come out, maybe 10+ minutes, and they automatically gave us dessert on the house. Not warranted, but a great surprise. Management stopped by and checked on us multiple times to ask how everything was going. Atmosphere is quiet and beautiful. We sat in the back area where the piano is. The spring rolls are massive! Really fashion delicious. Probably some of the best I've had. And the bahn mi- they're massive! She makes some at a pork, beef, chicken or even vegetarian! You can customize them as you like on the kiosk. I like how she now has rice dishes as well. Basically is turned into a pretty awesome local Vietnamese quick take out restaurant. This has to be probably one of the best hidden secrets in the area. Stop in!

We ended up here after leaving another spot because we were craving a BBQ pork bánh mì,…read morespecifically the red pork kind. This place looked like it specialized in bánh mì, so we figured we'd give it a shot. The shop itself is really cute, and they also have boba drinks, which pulled me in because I love boba. I ordered a Thai milk tea along with our sandwiches. That's kind of where things went downhill. The tea tasted really artificial...like, not something I've had before, and the color was off too. It was also super sweet. My boyfriend tried it and said the same thing. For food, we split two sandwiches: he got the marinated pork and I got the roasted pork. The roasted pork was honestly disappointing--almost all fat. I get that pork has some fat, but this was excessive. Most pieces were barely meat, and the texture was just not good. I ended up picking around it just to eat something. The marinated pork was actually pretty solid. But since the other sandwich was such a miss, we basically ended up eating a marinated pork and what felt like a veggie sandwich. Overall, I think we'll keep looking for other spots when we're in the mood for bánh mì.

Plenty of options if you don't want wings. I personally could not decide so a friend and I split the steamed shrimp special and wings. Can't go wrong. And we ordered a dozen wings and got 2 flavors. Wings were really good and so were the shrimp. Not overly seasoned or cooked. Everyone got something different and we all left full and happy. Someone ordered the homemade chips for the table and they were delicious. I would definitely go back. Food was good, service was friendly.

Meh, despite the good food and the convenient location (this Lendy's is much closer to me than…read moretheir General Booth location), the service - particularly the understaffing, is a problem. With Misako closed until mid-October (the owners are on a much-deserved vacation), this was an excellent opportunity to try out this Lendy's. Upon arrival, they were setting up for karaoke night (Tuesdays) and there were a few regulars already seated at the bar. This Lendy's appeared bigger than Anchor Allie's that was previously here. It's more spacious - full of games, TV's and the like. I decided to sit at the bar where I was greeted by their bartender, Courtney. Courtney was nice enough, but she was battling a neck injury which, I later learned, was the result of her, "falling down the stairs." That sucks, and she toughed it out simply by showing up for work. I remained patient throughout, but I was left to wonder what caused her to fall down the stairs. Anyways, Courtney took my drink order - Coke and a bottle of Bud Light. I received the Coke almost immediately, but after a few minutes she remembered the beer. She apologized, but it was all good since I was still looking at the menu (the long wait for the beer did factor into me not ordering another round, though). I eventually ordered a dozen wings and potato skins, and proceeded to relax and wait. In the meantime, that's when I noticed Courtney was the only person working the FOH, while the kitchen had one dude doing all the cooking (he was also the food runner). The food took a little time, but actually came out sooner than I anticipated. I chose garlic parm wings, and they were just as good as the wings I've had at the original Lendy's. The potato skins were also excellent, although the cheese could've been melted more. Regardless, the food remained the high point of my visit. I didn't finish either item, so I asked for a togo box and my tab at the same time. This is where my visit became an extended stay as Courtney continued to place me at the back of the line. Courtney took about five minutes to give me a togo box. She gave it to me without my tab, which meant I had to wait again for her to get that to me. In the meantime, she had to knock out orders for the other customers, then had to turn around and take an order for a big party who sat down behind me. The wait was understandable, but I did become antsy. After all that, Courtney gave me my tab, and I plopped down my card immediately so she'd know I was ready to get out of there. The check and my card sat at the edge of the bar for a few minutes before she came back for it. When she did, she ran my card, then proceeded to pour drinks for customers while waiting for the machine to print my receipt. I began to take issue when she stopped to chat with the regulars at the bar as if they were the only people in the restaurant. That lasted a good 5 minutes, then she proceeded to ignore me when one patron from the big party walked up to the bar to ask her for something. At this point, I finally blurted out, "May I have my check? PLEASE?" She had a look on her face that said, "S**t, I forgot," while I gave back a stare similar to Ice Cube in Friday when he said, "Bye, Felicia." Courtney ripped the receipt from that machine, gave that & returned my card, then quickly muttered, "Thank you for your patience." I was ready to turn into a-hole Justin and then gtfo there, but I said nothing, signed my receipt and proceeded to get the hell out. The real issue with this Lendy's is understaffing. My visit was a combination of events - dinner service, happy hour, and karaoke night. How are you not staffed for that? I could tell Courtney knows what's up, but leaving her alone (with just one cook) while working injured obviously resulted in subpar service. At the same time, taking extended time to chat with regulars pissed me off because I was obviously not important enough to receive the same attention. Lendy's, your food is good. But running understaffed and providing inconsistent service is garbage. I want to evenly split my visits to this shopping center between Misako, Lendy's, and Mommy Mom, but omitting Lendy's as a viable option has become easier after this visit. I'll give Lendy's another shot down the line, but if there's only 1 FOH person again when that day comes, I'm walking out. JV
