Hanes Hurricane Shutters is an excellent choice when you need shutters or impact doors and windows. I had a great experience with Hanes. Mr. Hanes, the owner, is very friendly, sociable and caring for his customers. He came to our home and explained the benefits between the different types of shutters and offered me a fair price. He even informed me about various rebate programs my local municipality was offering to help pay for the new impact windows, doors, and shutters. This past month when Florida was getting ready for a storm, we were confused on how to put up our shutters (the installers did a demonstration when they were first installing them, but we didn't pay too much attention). We went over the Hanes, and the owner was more than glad to come over to show us how to put them up. This clearly shows that they really care and value their customers. Even though our deal was almost a year ago, they were still eager to come over and show us how to put up our shutters. Customer service like that is hard to find. read more

HORRIBLE customer service!! We called them to close the shutters prior to the hurricane. The shutters were serviced by a different company a few weeks ago and were closing smoothly. Unfortunately we weren't able to use the other company to close the shutters because they didn't have availability. After the hurricane we called Hanes to open up the shutters and they either purposely or didn't close it properly initially which caused the wheel to come off track. When we spoke to technician he said the entire shutter had to be replaced!! We immediately called Ally, their customer service rep and she said " Idk... some things just don't go as planned." DEFINITELY stay away from this company! Very unprofessional and overpriced! I recently had a great experience with Hanes hurricane shutters. I took over family business and the shutters were installed in 2012. The shutters were installed at two properties. For some reason one of the property did not have the permit closed. The other property sold with no issues . Title search showed this permit issue. Haynes responded quickly and got it done in less than a week. Anca kept us abreast with the issues. Otherwise we never had a problem with the shutters. Would recommend them. read more

8 months ago I contracted this company to replace my hurricane windows in 2 properties. I worked with Ghenadii Gotca and I have really grown to regret my decision to work with this company. 8 months have passed and my windows are still incomplete. I asked Mr. Gotca to install mosquito nets which he failed to do, even after he took $300 to install the mosquito nets and the product arrived, he stopped answering my calls and left the net to be installed by ourselves. When I called the office to try and get to the bottom of this the young ladies working the telephones were extremely rude and have flat out hung up the phone on me many times since I tried to contact their company and told me to figure the problems out with Mr. Gotca. This man is a THIEF. I payed for services, he accepted the payment but failed to provide the services. On 11/28/17 we signed a contract with Cornel Hanes from Hanes Hurricane Shutters & Windows, Inc. to supply and install 4 Impact Single Hung Windows (Eco Window System) and 2 Impact Sliding Glass Doors (Eco Window System) in our condo unit. They ordered the City of Hollywood Permit and the windows/doors. They contacted us 3 times in February/March 2018 to schedule an installation date. The first 2 times they called us on a Thursday afternoon and wanted to install the windows/doors the next day. Both times we told them more advanced notice was required for someone to be there to install the windows/doors the next day. The 3rd time they called we scheduled a date and time. They never showed up for the appointment or called. We called them to see why they didn't show up and they told us the windows/doors weren't in their inventory. We were very confused and had no idea why they kept calling to try to schedule the installation. We finally scheduled installation and the windows/doors were installed on 3/23/2018 and 3/26/2018. We then needed to schedule an inspection with the City of Hollywood. Ali or Becky (office help) at Hanes said they would schedule it with the City inspector and let us know a date/time. They scheduled it for 4/17/2018 and would be there sometime before noon. At 2:00 pm we called and they said we just needed to be patient and the inspector would be there. He never showed up. We rescheduled an inspection for 4/26/2018 and again they didn't show up. We contacted Ali on her personal cell phone and she promised to get it scheduled. Since we are not full-time residents we authorized our condo security to let them in and they still have never scheduled the inspection. On 5/27/2018, a family member was at our condo during a tropical storm and there was water coming in through one of the sliding glass doors. They could hear wind whistling in around the doors and the windows. Obviously they were not installed correctly or we wouldn't have water inside the condo or wind coming in around the windows and doors. I called Cornel Hanes on 5/29/2018 and left him a message to call me back. As usual he never called. I called again on 5/30/2018 and left him a detailed message that if he didn't call me back I would take legal action against them. Cornel called back that afternoon and I told him about the problems. He said they were very busy and would need to review his file at the office and call me back the following day. He never called back and we have not heard from anyone from Hanes since 5/30/2018. At this time I cannot recommend this company based on the above. We are very disappointed in their service, lack of communication and follow up based on the contract we signed with them. read more

I called quite a few places looking for just one window to be installed. Homeadvisors was not helpful at all as their contractors all had minimum window requirements. Hanes came quick for the estimate and I was very impressed with the pricing. There was a delay on the window and a problem but when I went to their office they were not only very apologetic but they resolved the problem within 2 days and improved on their already great price. They had a problem, saw a way to fix it and made sure that their customer (me) was incredibly happy. The workmanship was fantastic and I will be calling them again when I need more windows done. I don't live in Florida full time but was assured by my building management that Hanes was a great company to do business with. I hired them to install a hurricane door in my condo. While installing the door they broke several tiles around the door. They never said a word to me about it. When I finally came down and saw it I called them several times before I got the installer on the phone who told me there was nothing they could do and that it was the condo floor that was no good and was going to crack no matter what. It is now costing me $450 to fix what they should have. I am extremely unhappy with them and would never recommend them. read more

I have just reported Hanes Hurricane Shutters to the Better Business Bureau. They charged me thousands of dollars for hurricane shutters and then never finished the job. They simply walked away without scheduling the required inspection of the shutters by the City of Ft. Lauderdale. They then allowed the Building Permit to expire. I called them at least a dozen times. Allie, a Hanes employee, kept telling me she was going to the city to get a new permit but she never did. I have now been cited by the City of Ft. Lauderdale for a Building Code Violation and am supposed to appear in Court on June 1, 2017. When they walked away they didn't even leave a set of keys to the locks on the shutters. RUN AWAY FROM HANES HURRICANE SHUTTERS AS FAST AS YOU CAN!!! read more

They did outstanding work on our high rise balcony shutter system. The guys (Alan and other excellent person- sorry missed name) finished the project and did a spectacular job. Understatement. Super qualified, prepared, efficient, knowledgeable, great to work with. I can't thank them enough. This was one of those rare gold standard experiences where a company is leaps and bounds ahead of others, and when the project is completed, you're in disbelief how great it turned out, and how easy they made it for the customer.
