Clean, quiet, and pet-friendly accommodation. The room was spacious with a very comfortable King-size bed and a patio to a grassy area. A refrigerator and a microwave were also provided. What a cute little gem! Very clean inside and out. Rooms are super spacious with tall ceilings. Great kitchen area with double sinks in the bathroom. Beds are really comfortable so are the pillows! Stayed here early March but wished we hadn't booked 2 nights. Looks nice in photos but staying there is another issue. It is a 2 star rated hotel but they try to get away with charging higher prices. Very obvious they don't maintain the rooms. Bathroom door falling off it's hinges. Bath door trim severely damaged from someone breaking into the bathroom and was never repaired properly, only glued back in place. Shower did not drain properly so we were limited to about a 2 minute shower before risking shower pan overflow. Since they are desperate for business they do allow dogs, so be prepared for dog noise. It is next to busy highway, so be prepared for highway noise throughout the night. Next time in the area we'll take a bit more time to find a decent place to stay. read more

I have medical issues and accidently became lost on 88 with my service dog. I pulled over quickly when I saw your hotel. What an amazing place to land. We have been coming here often given we travel w our dog and love the location and local folks. We just called to book our next trip and the price doubled and they started charging $75/night for dogs on top of the new nightly price. My total was more than double what it was 2 weeks ago. Almost $300 for a single night for my husband and I with our dog. Ridiculous. read more

They acknowledge on their website that cellular service, but sent an email with instructions for late check in...which I couldn't get. Had a wonderful stay here during my trip out to Amador County! This is a small inn that's located right off the side of the road. I only stayed here for one night but I felt right at home during my short visit. The room was spacious with high ceilings and a great view of the pool and Jacuzzi from the patio. I loved the fact that it had a vanity with another sink right next to the bathroom. The room was pretty clean with the exception of the dirty hand towel that I found. It looked like whatever stains that were on there were hard to get out. The bed was very comfy and the heater worked great. Excellent water pressure in the shower! Mini vials of shampoo and conditioner were provided as well. My room had a mini fridge, coffee maker, and an old outdated TV set that I didn't end up using anyways. My room was on the second floor and the view from the patio was really pretty. They have a pool and Jacuzzi located behind the building but I didn't use it. Also found it helpful that a vending machine with snacks and drinks were located outside on the ground floor near the stairs. No elevator or complimentary breakfast here, but it's only a small two-story building with less than 30 units and there's a nice little café that was only about a 10 minute drive away. This inn is located right next to a sports pub called Gallagher's that serves lunch and deli items. Parking is ample and the check-in process was fast and easy. The check-in attendant was very pleasant! The wifi was excellent which was great because there's virtually no reception out in this area. They use an actually key to unlock the hotel room doors, not the keycards that I'm used to. The only real downside here is that you must check-in between 3pm-10pm because the front office closes at 10pm. You could possibly arrange for an earlier check-in, but late check-ins are tough since you must check-in before 10pm. If checking out early, you can drop your key in the key drop located at the check-in office. They do require a credit card for incidentals, but they won't charge or place a hold on your card unless you violate their policies (non-smoking, etc). My stay was brief but comfortable and I would stay here again in the future. read more

What a great place for a pit stop on your way to skiing in Kirkwood! We had the most wonderful 2-nights stay at this hotel, my two (very picky!) teens loved it! Fresh renovated rooms, everything new and clean and impeccable, I loved wooden ceilings and huge windows facing beautiful forest. Amazing very hospitable and attentive crew, they treat you like family! There is a nice restaurant at the property with pool tables and good food and drinks. Short drive (under an hour) from Kirkwood, and tons of amazing places nearby! We loved Black Chasm Caverns (less than 10 minutes away and home to some super rare structures - only 2 caverns in the US have them!). Quality and clean seems their theme. Rooms are very nice. Outside is very well maintained. Each room has a patio. Nice pool deck out back with a simple meadow and tree line behind it. I recommend a room along the back to reduce highway noise but it wasn't a big problem anyhow. read more

They give every explanation except the code for the pool. For $167 a night,you would think they would give you the code.

We stayed for two nights while my Mom was visiting. The pool was temporarily closed but they got it opened right away. The night staff was more knowledgeable than the day staff. But both were very professional and friendly. We did have a problem with another guest on our second night. It literally sounded like elephants were going to come through the ceiling. I went to the office around 9:30pm to make sure it was dealt with before they closed. The other guest was in the office at the same time. I mentioned the issue and he said "that must be us we just got in, it's my child I have not control of that" I was shocked. Not sure why any parent does not have any form of control over their child. The office asked if we wanted to move and I told them no. We were already in bed and had been there since the night before. The other guest tried to gaslight me and act like he didn't say anything when he had. He then tries to convince the staff that he shouldn't have to move and even tried to take furniture from one room to the other. The man working made them move, not sure if he got other complaints. These people were the type that have zero courtesy for other people. I felt really bad for Amr (sp?) who was working the office. He handles it well despite me being upset and the other guest being an entitled jerk. The owner is lucky to have him there to handle such situations. I'm not sure how I would have handled that professionally if it were me. But he was awesome! We are locals, my Mom was visiting from out of town to see her grandkids. I will recommend this place to friends and family in the future. It's simple but nice. And they allow pets! read more

I checked in a the Hotel Amador last week. We had our dog so we were given a room that is pet-friendly. The room was impeccably clean. There were 4 mint chocolates as a welcome gift, as well as a dog bowl for convenience. The receptionist went out of his way to be accommodating. In all, a great experience. read more

I had a great time here ! The rooms are older but they're well maintained and the workers are very friendly & helpful ! The pool and hot tub are great ! There's a bar across the way and we had a good hot dog and met some friendly people ! Although the bar is for 21 or over they have seats out side if you wanted to order food for your kids ! I will definitely be back and staying here again ! The view up here is great and the price is right ! Side note ! My only down fall is the TVs really need to be updated! Suggestion for the owners is to look into Walmart and or Best Buy sometimes you can get bulk deals being a business and get refurbished flat screens for cheap to replace the old ones ! Several family members rented multiple rooms for a family event nearby. - no hot water for 2 days for the entire building, told they were trying to get it fixed. Later told no propane. - two rooms heater didn't work - one couple remote didn't work - several rooms with cigarette burns in blankets - several beds in multiple rooms with cans, socks, etc under beds (never cleaned?) - two family members requested some kind of compensation for 2 days and no showers, front desk argued not their fault. Also refused to give owner name/ number This could be a decent place if they actually cared for it and bought sheets/ blankets. Several people posting poor reviews and a few upset enough talking about making a better business bureau complaint. read more

I stumbled across this place on my way to a week full of hiking around the area and further North. This place is not just beautiful, but very cozy, safe, and relaxing! The owner here made sure we were cared for all our needs and we loved it so much here we booked another night. He got to like us and even gave us a free bottle of wine. He is ultimately the coolest man that has checked us in any hotel... EVER!! They have a nice view in the back with a pool and hot tub, very reasonable price around $80 weekdays (including tax). Each room has its own balcony with 2 chairs and a table for pure relaxation, I would also recommend suggesting to get a 2nd floor room for it has really high ceilings and feels like a cabin. Spot on! If you're not from the area, I highly suggest staying here because it's right in the middle of beautiful nature hikes, the National Natural Landmark Caves, burger joints and ohh yeah, THERES A BAR IN THE PARKING LOT OF THE INN! Definitely check that bar out in the evening (: All in all, you will not be disappointed here, I will be back, this place is perfect! read more

I don't know where to start because I have so many good things to say about this wonderful hotel My sister and I stayed on Feb. 23 & 24 and wish we could have stayed longer, the room was so nice and clean, the beds were so comfortable we slept all night without waking up! Diana was so kind and helpful, she took my reservation and was fun to work with, giving us a fabulous room! We had an upstairs room that has a large balcony with a beautiful view, the refrigerator and microwave were perfect, the TV was nice and there was amble room in the bathroom with two sinks If I could afford it I would be using this place as my "get-away" for all seasons, it was just like staying in a Condo! Y'all should take this as constructive criticism. I stayed here for the umpteenth time shortly before X-mas. Everything was the same as ever, except that the price had suddenly gone up -- by about $25 per night! So this could be a seasonal gouge, or a permanent rate hike to deal with ever-increasing overhead, but either way it was a very unpleasant surprise during an already expensive time. The thing is, this place is still the best of only a couple choices in the area. But they can't claim the best price anymore. A few minutes down the road in Jackson, you can get about the same rate at the Holiday Inn Express or Best Western. But those places actually offer more for the money -- better internet connection, longer hours, free breakfast, more up-to-date appliances & decor etc. Against the rules of the game, I'm showing my cards here. I'll probably keep booking at Pioneer Inn when I'm in the area. But if they're gonna keep charging the same rates as their competitors, they should really start offering the same amenities. 10/5/2018 So, while staying at the Pioneer Inn I was very disappointed. They have some sketchy people that seems to be full time residents. These residents have no regard for the respect of other guest. These guest stayed up most of the 4 nights that I stayed there, drinking smoking pot. The smell of pot would seep through the doors and air conditioner. They have staff that stay on site but seem to be complicit or unwilling to enforce standard rules and policies. read more

Another hidden gem... Not your downtown Chrystal Palace but a real nice rural inn... Huge rooms, we stayed in 218, very clean and bright. Had a issue with in room wifi but the staff we on it and had it working overnight. Pool was clean and pleasant, but could have used more towels.... And as to cell phone -coverage was spotty (Verizon) but hey it's in the mountains... We stayed 4 days and I wouldn't hesitate booking again! read more

My fiancé and I had a very pleasant mid-week 3 night stay over 4th of July at this place. I'm so glad we decided on a suite vs. just a motel room. Very large room included bed, living area (TV, sofa, small table) and a full-kitchen (minus dishwasher but I hand-wash at home anyhow). Great for us as we bought groceries at the nearby IGA so that I could cook during our stay. Four barstools at kitchen counter to sit on. Kitchen has pretty much what you need as far as cooking except for aluminum foil and spices (but I know of very few establishments that provide those things). So bring your own cooking spray & spices if you plan to cook. Diana at the reservation/check-in counter was extremely friendly and helpful, she always had answers to our questions or needs. Thank you again! The pool and jacuzzi area was great! Clean and comfortable, there is even a bbq that we used to grill our rib eye steaks while we were there. The only drawback was there were no lounge chairs, which would have made the pool area complete. Overall we had a great stay, I hope that we will go back. Unfortunately that location is bad for cellphone service (we have Verizon & AT&T) but the hotel wi-fi worked for us....even at the pool area. read more

Let me preface this by saying the stay itself was ok but in my opinion the hotel cost about 2x what it should. We paid about $120 and it really struck me as a $60 one star motel. Sorry to say that we won't be staying here again. The property is obviously smoker friendly. There are ash trays immediately outside the guest room doors. Our room had a freshly extinguished cigarette in the ash tray next to it, and our bathroom window had been left open (by the maid?) so the smoke came in. The outside door also was not insulated at the bottom and we woke up to more smoke as the staff were smoking in the AM. I want to emphasize that the staff were friendly and helpful, but still...This place is not for everyone. The room itself was fine if not a little bit dingy--stained/broken tile in the bathroom and the carpet had a weird feel and color. There were also full trash bags stacked at the bottom of the stairs all night. read more

Wanted to sleep with the sliding glass door open, but noise and smoke from multiple neighbors staying up past 1am each night made that difficult. Our family wanted to have a not too expensive yet a fun filled summer outing that includes mountains , lakes and family time. This place truly met our expectations by all means. The pool and spa in the serene backyard facing the woods is the jewel of this place. Large rooms, huge parking lot and a bar made our stay very comfortable. Staff is awesome and ready to help. A trip to Lake Tahoe , a trip to Carson city, fishing in silver lake and beautiful drives through scenic highway was part of this trip. Every time we were outside our kids were eagerly waiting to comeback to the hotel so that they can get more pool time. We are certainly going back to this place again soon. read more

The owner Rick greeted us has we arrived and we were blown away with his professionalism, friendliness, and charm. The room was amazing, clean and upgraded with modern appliances, tv and internet. The views of Amador county was amazing from our room! They even recommend some good food places around and helped us plan our events while staying there.
