Food is good they give you a big portion of food there is a wait the look is cool for an airport

Arrived around 4:30 pm on a Friday, and were placed on a waiting list which made us think this place must be sublime. When we were seated, it was not in the restaurant but a conference room area next door. No decor, a few round tables and a table with what looked like warming domes and condiments. For beverages, we ordered a Bloody Mary and a strawberry lemonade. When the drinks came, we wondered which one was which. The bloody was weirdly pale, tasted very lemony and could have used more pickle juice and Worcestershire sauce. The menu at Hangar 54 is pedestrian; nothing is unique or something you can't get at every other restaurant in town. I selected the two piece fish fry and my hubby got the chicken alfredo. One of my pieces of fish was extremely overcooked, so dry that no amount of tartar sauce and lemon juice could save it. The chicken alfredo had good flavor and the pasta was cooked right, but again, the chicken was overcooked. Service was not the greatest, but they were busy so I can't ding them too much for that. All in all, would we go back? No. read more

Very nice restaurant in the airport terminal. I flew in just for lunch. I enjoyed the F-15 burger. It was spicy with jalapeños which I always enjoy. It is a full half pound with fries on the side. Very tasty but almost too much. read more

Visiting family in the area and they suggested this spot ! Bluegill dinner minus potato & subbed in a Caesar salad for upcharge. Had to order this as I've never been to a restaurant with bluegill on the menu (living in the Chicago far western suburbs). WOW bluegill was so fresh & nice crunch on the breading which definitely did not overpower the thickness of the fish. House made caesar salad dressing was probably the best I've ever had & that's no small task ! Don't skip on the house made garlic butter croutons if you can. Ribeye was prepared nicely & was tasty. Mixed veggies had great seasoning. Kids mac n cheese was homemade & great ! Had snap peas as the side which was a very nice option. Shrimp dinner was very good - looked to be the same nice thin n crunchy breading used on the bluegill. Philly cheese steak sandwich was great. Lastly a couple of us had one of their signature cocktails called Cucumber Collins - gin forward delicious - a tiny bit heavy pour that we a little splash of lemonade to it making it PERFECT. Even though we didn't get to see any planes take off or land as we sat with a view of the tarmac, this place sure offered the best views as we did the Curd Crawl. The airport itself is quite small, but this restaurant had a decent number of folks stopping in on a rainy Saturday. Service was great, as was the food! We ordered cheese curds (of course) along with the sausage sampler, because we needed some meat to offset the incredible amounts of cheese we were ingesting that day. The cheese curds had great texture and squeak, while the meats were all quite tasty, the bread fresh and heated by the grill. I can see why this restaurant would be a good destination even for people who weren't using the airport. read more

The bartender here was as friendly and helpful as possible. She was fun to talk to. We had a great happy hour with wine and beer specials and the prices were great. The restaurant was very nice and had a great view of the runways at the airport. We will definitely be back next time we're in the area. read more

My girlfriend and I went here for dinner on a recommended of a friend. We've been trying to get into this place because it's always busy as heck and parking is a bit of a nightmare due to it being at the airport. That being said... we got in pretty quick this night. Little did we know we where going to be seated by the door going into the kitchen... so every few minutes we'd hear "coming in" or "coming out" or "door" a bit obnoxious. Our server came to us to take drink orders (maybe 10-15 minutes after we sat down) I say this because it really wasn't that busy... but it is what it is. We get our drinks out in our orders. We got the pulled pork nachos... they where actually pretty good. My Girlfriend got the Ruben sandwich and I got what they think is Cajun Panini pasta. Hers looked pretty plane... what could have been Rye bread from the grocery story. Slapped together and sent out the door. A Ruben is a basic sandwich in the Midwest if you ask me. My Cajun pasta on the other had was absolutely garbage! It has a vegetable medley in it... ( weird as hell) it was so damn spicy that it tasted like Somme dumped in a entire bottle of cayenne red pepper in it! It was so damn spicy it wasn't even good! The pasta was over cooked and mush the chicken was bland! Who ever dreamed up this concoction needs to head south and try real Creo Cajun food!!! Also leave the veggies to stir fry! We saw our waitress a total of five times! When she did drop off the bill she tossed it on the table and said have a good night! She didn't get a tip... I paid for a crappy meal that has to much red pepper and the basic Ruben that's was as basic as it gets. I did what I had too If this places comes up I'd probably skip it. My friend and I went for steaks. Every thing was enjoyed. We had the rib eye. I think they were out of prime. Not unusual , everyone in this town eats at 6 pm it's a thing. I like to eat later if it's event dining. It's a nice room with comfy tables and a decent amount of space. There's a busy bar. I think I had an OF and what I remember it was made to order and tasty. I've been here before and enjoyed. Nice portions. The service was....okay. I could see the staff was working but it was on the slow side, which wouldn't be tough if the waitress maybe could just pop in and out occasionally. But it appears to be a younger staff. All in all, it's recommended for the unique space, nice atmosphere and good food. Oh! The curds are a must read more

A solid dining choice in the north east part of Eau Claire, an area that is sadly bereft of good restaurants. The noise level can be a bit high, especially if you are there on a busy night, so don't plan on having intense conversations over dinner. While most of the food choices fall into the fairly standard "American pub food" variety, make sure to get an order of the hanger bombs at least once. You will not regret it. read more

A good place to stop for a bite to eat, a drink or to after work game-watching. Busy place. We had a celebration dinner for a family member on a weekday evening (Friday). Very busy and close to the bar so it was louder than desired. Enough space for traffic flow to be achieved without impeding on dinner. It comes off a more of a bar atmosphere, but the menu was impressive on the culinary side. We had appetizers, which were pretty good. Service was a little slower than desired but it was happy hour and they were quite busy, so it was expected. Price was appropriate for the food, quality and service. Would recommend getting in early, have a reservation and if you want a quieter experience, request a table away from the bar. Would revisit definitely. read more

Get their wings. Seriously. $2.50 off wings on Wednesdays, and the wings themselves are massive (boneless). Good, hometown style service, delicious food, and a great view of the airport. I work across the parking lot as a flight instructor and come here multiple times a week. Definite recommend. And for the wings, I recommend the bourbon chipotle flavor. read more

We went here for a dinner date with some friends who told us that it was a great option. Haven't been here in years as the previous restaurant was nothing to write home about. I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised at how good the food was. This is not a five-star restaurant but the quality of the food will rival most in Eau Claire. If you're local, definitely try it out see what you think - everything we had was quite good. The atmosphere is may be a bit lacking as it is very open but not terribly so.. if you are a traveler coming through the area, don't be afraid to eat here. read more

Hanger 54 is one of only two restaurants that my husband will meet me at for lunch during the week. As a small business owner his specific window of opportunity for leaving the office or shop building is short and Hanger 54 is not only convenient to our location, they are also efficient in getting us in and out quickly. They have even allowed us to place our order over the phone and have a booth and drinks ready for us when we arrive! Stopped in here on the way to a business trip to have dinner. I ordered the Hanger Steak, baked potato, and had them hold the veggies since I don't care for them. They did offer a couple of other choices, but I felt like I would be full enough from what I had ordered. The Hanger Steak was delicious, juicy, and tender. The baked potato however, was reheated. It looked old. I didn't eat it. That's when I ordered the carrot cake to go since I'd basically only had the steak for dinner. The carrot cake was the only dessert choice. It was awful, you could tell it was not made there. It was soggy and super heavy. I personally would not go there again without being able to get a fresh baked potato. read more

I think the special is what had me order it, I was so stuffed. The following day, there was a wing special, 5 wings for $3.75. I ordered 2 of those. Those were great as well. It's about time the restaurant void is filled at the Eau Claire Regional Airport. We'd say Hanger 54 shows great promise with our experience over the lunch hour on Friday. This really is 4.5 stars. Upon arrival we were told we could sit anywhere we'd like, so we chose a table for four by the window overlooking the tarmac, and within moments Leah showed up as our waitress with menus asking for our drink order. Great start! My wife and I always share our meals so we started in the "Shareables" section of the menu, and landed on the Sausage Sampler. Knowing that the owners are involved with the award-winning Rumps meat market in Altoona we eagerly anticipated this dish. The three types of sausage (andouille, chorizo and Italian) nestled in with peppers and onions were grilled to perfection, and came with a warm roasted red pepper sauce for dipping-- delicious! In fact it could be your entrée. Next up was the bowl of French onion soup--I'd give it a B+. A rich broth, dark and caramel-ly, but not too sweet, a submerged crouton and just the right amount of melted Swiss cheese. Our home version is slightly better. Our entrée was the Beer Burger served with thin traditional, but in-house cut and prepared, french fries. The burger was served open faced and topped with four locally-sourced LaGrander's deep-fried cheese curds--nice touch. The thick, hand-pattied burger was topped with a beer cheese sauce and lots of "drunken" sautéed onions. That is an "A". The desserts sounded enticing but we were full and the bill came to exactly $30 plus tax, so it was time to go--all done within 55 minutes... impressive on a Friday lunch hour at the airport, as it appeared to be about 80% full. I'm sure it's going to get busier as word spreads that Hangar 54 is a welcoming place to dine on the north side of Eau Claire. We won't miss Farm On Starr, and Connells II had become outdated. They've really opened up the place in remodeling, decorating with faux barnwood and a few aeronautical-themed pieces--very pleasant. We'll bring friends with next time! read more

Six of us went to supper tonight. Servers very pleasant but had NO training as to menu items or as to how to serve food. Homemade French dressing was more like a weird jam. Blue cheese on burger had a strange chalky taste. Au juice for beef dip was cold right out of the fridge. Pretty disappointed. Second visit today because friends wanted to try it. Arrived at 12:10 and food finally came at 12:55. Coffee cups were filthy and waitress handed them out by grasping the rim. I said we wanted clean cups and she said three times that they WERE clean. Egg sandwich was so cold the cheese wouldn't even melt. Sausage on sandwich was such poor quality. read more

First time here and the place had a waiting list. You may dine at the bar and that is what we choose to this evening. They have a very nice bar and dining area and the airport theme is fitting. Drinks were good and the beer was cold and the staff helpful with the menu and attentive. Kris had the fried fish (haddock) and instead of a potato asked for a bowl of the french onion soup. The french onion was great with plenty of croutons and melted cheese. We both enjoyed it very much and would order it again. The fried fish was average at best and nothing to write about. Would not order it again. I, Travis ordered the Italian beef with giardiniera and banana peppers and a side of au jus. I opted for the sautéed mixed veggies. The entree looked great but upon diving in, was disappointed. The bun was grilled but was mushy and doughy on the non grilled side and has no flavor. The beef itself was very dry and had no taste at all what I Was expecting for an "Italian beef" would be like. He au jus albeit good could not save the sandwich. Sorry the Rump's beef could not save this sandwich. I would not order again. Overall an okay experience. We will try again in a month or so to see if the newness has worn away and the menu is nailed down better. read more

Stopping through for business and I was expecting a typical airport bar / restaurant. I was wrong! Get the boneless wings, Holt crap, amazing. Hand cut white meat with a perfectly light breading. I opted for their Hypersonic sauce (I LOVE spicy foods), and it was perfect. It gave me a little bit of eyebrow sweat and was perfect! Not to mention, great to dip in their homemade ranch. My server, Lisa was incredibly pleasant and nice to talk to. Next time I'm in the area. I'm eating here regardless of my flight time. FIVE STARS! Stopped for a bite to eat this afternoon, there were very few people there. The waitress stopped and took our drink order, brought one drink and said the other would be up shortly, bar tender delivered the beer. She came back, took our food order, brought the food and never came back to our table, we watched her gabbing with others, checking on her other table but didnt come back. After about 20 minutes we finally flagged down another waitress for our bill. We walked right past our waitress on our way out the door and she was so busy gabbing she didnt know we left. We totally could have left without paying. Food was mediocre at best and by far some of the worst service ever. Sorry but we wouldn't return. read more
