I opted for their Hypersonic sauce (I LOVE spicy foods), and it was perfect. It gave me a little bit of eyebrow sweat and was perfect! Not to mention, great to dip in their homemade ranch. Stopped for a bite to eat this afternoon, there were very few people there. The waitress stopped and took our drink order, brought one drink and said the other would be up shortly, bar tender delivered the beer. She came back, took our food order, brought the food and never came back to our table, we watched her gabbing with others, checking on her other table but didnt come back. After about 20 minutes we finally flagged down another waitress for our bill. We walked right past our waitress on our way out the door and she was so busy gabbing she didnt know we left. This place was amazing. Our son was shipping out to Army basic training and we had about 70 minutes to kill so we had lunch here on Monday 08-13-2018. Where do I start with how good this place was. Cheese curds, hamburgers, buffalo wrap and fettuccine Alfredo all very very good. What really made it so amazing was our server JACK. He was one of the nicest most attentive young men I have ever met. We wanted for nothing as he took care of us. Came For lunch on Saturday. We have the mile high club sandwich with fries and a black bean and sausage soup. All was excellent. The mile high club sandwich had a cranberry aoli which was wonderful. Also excellent fries. Service was solid and the waitress checked back eith us several times which we appreciated. Because of the Halloween season the waitresses were dressed in costumes which was fun. A nice ambience with views out onto the tarmac. Good size bar menu as well. After coming here several times, here are some highlights: I am a prime rib connoisseur and this place has got, by far, the best prime rib. I beg my wife to go here from time to time just to get that sweet taste of their prime rib. The fries are probably the best fries in any sit-down restaurant in the Chippewa Valley. Visited on a Friday around 3pm and had the Hangar Bombs for an appetizer, the Pulled Pork Sandwich, Black Bean veggie burger and the bread pudding dessert special. Service was prompt throughout the visit and the food was excellent as well. The entrees were obviously make from scratch and the meat is sourced from a local butcher shop. The server told us all desserts are made in house too, so we tried the bread pudding special and it was great! I highly recommend trying Hangar 54... we will certainly be back frequently! read more

We went here while visiting the area, and what a great find! The cheese curds are unbelievable! The menu is not extensive, but every dish on the menu is delicious. We ordered four different dishes. Highly recommend the Hanger Steak, the chimicurri sauce was outstanding. My only criticism is that it did not identify gluten free menu items. This review may be unfair because we came on the first night so it was busy when we arrived. However. As I sit here I've watched an entire Major League Baseball game and my food still hasn't arrived and there are currently about 6 tables with people in the entire place. As soon as we sat down we were told that we couldn't order appetizers... No appetizers. We couldn't order them not because they were out, but because they said they were too backed up. They also blamed a cook quitting the night before on the slow order time. I've ordered drinks three times and each time it has taken more than 30 minutes to arrive At the table. I've been sitting here over two hours and the server just came out and said, "the adult meals are done but we don't have any batter to prepare the kids meals." This is something that should that should have been brought to our attention before even starting the adult meals. Now we have to wait even longer for 2 cranky kids to get their food. Keep in mind, wrt sat there over 2 hours with no food AND we weren't allowed to order any appetizers. This place isn't showing much promise and based on this experience I will never be back. They weren't any more busy than a Chili's or Applebees on a Friday night read more

We came early on a Friday and were seated right away. It began to really fill up around 5 though. We had the Hanger Bombs for an app and they were amazing! I wish I would have ordered a beer to go with them. I ordered the Rueben. I was impressed! It was very good! The meat was tender and juicy with good flavor. The marbled rye was grilled perfectly. My wife had the Garlic Shrimp Angle Hair Pasta. She said it was very good. The only hit she would give it was that it had a little too much olive oil. Carlton was our server. Long wait for a table on a Friday night. We arrived at 7 pm and were finally seated at 7:45. After 15 minutes seated we left at 8 pm as no one offered us any water or even came over to say they would be with us shortly. Very frustrating. We've definitely tried to like this place, and the food is absolutely great. The problem is the service. I've NEVER gotten what I have asked for without asking at least three times. Here are a few of the experiences we've had. Ice tea brought out without lemon or sweeteners. I had to ask three times before they were finally delivered to my table and by that time the iced tea was warm. Asked for condiments not on the table (mustard) again three asks before it was brought out and by them my burger was cold. Fish brought out without tartar sauce, In this instance it was asked for 4 times and again, by the time it got there the food was cold. I've NEVER had to work so hard for a meal at a restaurant than at this place. If I could put up with the poor service, I could become a loyal customer as the food is very good (what I've had that was warm). But I just can't bear paying what they are asking for a meal and then having such a poor level of customer service. I hope that they improve as we like having a restaurant on the north side of Eau Claire, but I'm not going there again for a while...at least until I hear that the service issues have been addressed. Follow up review. They have addressed the service issues and maintained their quality. The last several times I've been there food and service was excellent. We're regulars here now! read more

We went this past Friday with 8 people. Service and food was good. Drinks were also good. The baked fish was good but absolutely bland. No seasoning at all. It was pure white and bland looking. The shrimp & pasta was excellent, but needed more pasta. The flat bread was good, but the crust was limpy. It could of been cooked more. We were able get a table by the window in the bar area and watch the scene. Our server, Ryan, was superb. Drinks were fast and good. We ordered cheese curds - the best we'd had since the Camaraderie burned 15 years ago, made with fresh curds and a light batter. Salads - greens with a nice amount of spinach - came with homemade croutons and dressings (raspberry vinaigrette on mine, and blue cheese on hers) were great. I tried the F-18 burger (super!) and my wife ordered the creole penne (also excellent - just the right amount of heat) - the bacon on the burger was especially good, as was the andouille sausage in the penne. I ordered my burger medium rare; it came out closer to medium, but still nice and moist. Our server suggested we try the carrot cake. And while I generally prefer my vegetables in salads and not desert, we agreed it was about the best carrot cake we'd tasted. We really like the environment - lots of families - lots of interactions among tables, and servers seemed to all enjoy their work. We'll be back! read more

Sigh. I want to give this place a really good review because of the very first experience I had at the Hangar, but since that apparent "unicorn" of a first visit I've had fair to poor experiences (My husband and I tried it three more times after that visit). Let me break it down to be as fair as possible. Atmosphere: Quite pleasant and inviting. You can often see airplanes take off and land through the large windows on one side and the big TVs throughout are nice, but not loud. The decor is cool and overall understated. I like it. Service: Mixed (and, YIKES!). The staff isn't unfriendly per se, but if they are at all busy the wait is painfully long not only for drinks, but food especially (and good luck with your order being correct, or hot). On it's face, this appears to be a training issue which points it's confused finger right in management's direction. Food & Drink: I can only speak to a few menu items - chicken wings, fried shrimp and fish tacos. Overall, this place gets a BIG "meh" and a mini "nope". The wings we had last time were the size of a large chicken breast cut into three HUGE pieces, breaded (boneless) fried to death and then the sauce was plopped on TOP of the wings... They weren't tossed in a sauce (I am kicking myself for not having taken a photo for you all). They were warm (not hot and took 20 minutes even though we were one of three tables) and as hard as tire rubber. I literally didn't eat the rest (And, I wasn't asked how my food was or if there was anything wrong with them. Again- service issues). I also didn't get the sauce I asked for without an uncomfortable exchange with the waiter who insisted he'd given me the correct one only to return admitting that it was the wrong sauce... I mean, come on, I don't really care about a simple mix up like that, but don't make a customer have to argue with you for god's sake). The shrimp was over done and should have been thrown out and re-done. It was still pretty good though. The fish tacos were blahsville. Plain and lacking any flavor profile worth note. A little acidity would go a long way. Also, the tortillas were flaccid. It doesn't take but a minute to put a quick char on those to make it a better dish. Drink selection is acceptable and the bartenders (especially the lady who works lunch during the week) are quite good. Oh! And, prices are fair on most drinks and food items. Final thoughts: this could be a really great place if anyone took the time to iron out the service issues and focus a bit more on details. I would give 2.5 stars if I could, but if I have to choose between 2 and 3 I feel it has to be 2. I say try this place and maybe you'll have that one great time I did... maybe the burgers are the real star? I will stop in again this year and hope for better. Cheers! read more

I really wanted this to be a great restaurant since Eau Claire has very limited fine dining. I was very disappointed with this place. Appetizers were good, food was extremely bland. I ordered the Angelhair Shrimp - no flavor at all. It think the shrimp were the frozen precooked type that you buy in the grocery store. I thought they would at least be pan seared but there was no flavor or color at all to them. My girlfriend had the fried breaded shrimp that I'm sure was pre processed frozen ones, even though on the menu it states hand breaded. Her mashed potatoes were like a cold lump of goo. I probably won't be going back there again. It sucks that you have to go to a "chain" restaurant in Eau Claire to get a halfway decent meal. read more
