I was sent to Hanger Clinic for an ankle brace due to post tibial tendinitis in my right foot and pronation which has caused me severe and debilitating pain.

During my 20+ years of being type one diabetic I learned a few things: Don't ever go to an office that doesn't show you respect. They never will. I've been to offices where I wasn't even treated like a human. You know the whole "You did this because your diabetes isn't in sparkling control." Or whatever other reason they have to be disrespectful. The fact remains, there really isn't much help training diabetics out there. I have a recently diagnosed friend who was released from the hospital with no training whatsoever on carb counting (and they wonder why there is a problem). So often, almost every medical office, we get that disrespecting. That "Oh she's a bad diabetic" Which is utterly humiliating. So during my visits with the orthotist/prosthetist Shaun, I feel respected. Shaun has never made me feel defensive about my condition or my sister's condition. He just wants to help make things better. My sister is developmentally disabled (on top of everything else) and Shaun is great working with her. The orthotics really help. Shoes these days (especially cute flats) don't have a lot of support. I love my orthotics because I can wear pretty much any flat shoe as long as the orthotic fits.

They go above and beyond, work quickly because they know how important your prosthetic is, and always advocate for their patients. Rocio does everything she can to get you in as soon as possible, and the entire team genuinely wants to help you succeed. Rick and his team work hard to make a good fit for your prosthesis and they have a personal touch where you really feel like they know you!! First, let me say that the people at the front desk are great - very friendly…read more I was referred here ( now called LEGACY PROSTHETICS) by IEHP because my orthopedic specialist ordered a custom CMC (thumb) orthosis. At my first visit, I was given a prefabricated wrist brace instead of the custom CMC orthosis listed in the referral. When I mentioned it, the technician went to check the order and came back saying, 'Oh, you're right,' and asked me to return on a day when their custom specialist was available. I returned for my 2nd visit today. The prescribed custom CMC brace should have rigid reinforcement (usually a metal stay) to immobilize the thumb joint. What I received was not a custom orthosis at all, but a low-temp plastic wrist splint made in front of me in just a few minutes, with flimsy, detachable Velcro straps and no real structure. For a true custom device, the mold is typically sent to an off-site orthotics lab for proper fabrication - that did not happen here. The material is flimsy, the straps can be easily pulled off the plastic base, and the thumb section doesn't support the CMC joint the way a real custom brace should. It feels more like a temporary ER splint, not durable medical equipment. Per my research, it's a temporary wrist splint - not even close to what the Dr. prescribed. I can't wear it on bare skin without irritation - I was told I had to use an old sock with a hole cut in underneath. I pictured like high school football player. To be fair, the technician was polite and tried to be helpful, but the product itself simply didn't match the referral or my medical needs. I hope this helps other patients who come here expecting a true custom orthosis.

Said it would take 3 weeks. 3 weeks go by and they call to say no brace. Blamed my insurance (which was already pre-approved). Say brace is now on order, but they me what style and color I wanted, and I realized they no brace was on order. They give me a temporary brace which helped. Don't know why I didn't get it on first visit to their office. FINALLY a big heavy leather brace came in. It was so stiff that it rubbed a bloody spot on my shin. And the heal was so bulbous, I couldn't get any shoe over it. It was total waste. I ended up buying a brace off of Amazon that worked better than anything they did for me. Only reason I gave a 2 instead of 1 was that the practioner was very nice. Woman behind desk, not so much. She never made eye contact. I think she was embarrassed by the bad service!

I was having a lot more symptoms like being dizzy, blurred vision, slurring my speech and a few other things. In triage my BP was very high in the 190s and over another high number I believe in the 130s. My heart rate was extremely high too, so the triage nurse who was just the sweetest lady called out a stroke emergency. 2 amazing doctors and at least 5 nurses surrounded me on the gurney like a Nascar pit crew. They immediately put in an IV, injected me medication and took my blood several times; as well as an EKG. I was given 3 different MRI's and chest X-rays almost as soon as I came in. Everyone was so kind in MRI room. The lady who operated the MRI machine even prayed with me twice. I'd like to add that we had first gone to Inland Valley Hospital and they were horrible to us this morning. I told them I was have chest pains and stroke like symptoms. They did not even pull me up for triage hearing that and I had to wait at least 5 minutes. They did not call a stroke code and just pushed me back into some weird ER patient only waiting room for a little over an hour. There were at minimum 20 patients in weird little room complaining they'd been waiting over 3 hours after also being triage and saying there were only 2-3 nurses on duty. That's when I decided speak up and be my own advocate. I just got up and exited; telling the triage nurse on my way out that I was going to another hospital. Thank God that I did! Last thing I have to add is that my doctors are extremely competent and seen well educated on cardiac and stroke events, but they have the best bedside manner! They were so great at Rancho Springs that 1 of my doctors walked my husband over to get a coffee! Now that's great service!

Once we got checked in we were in a packed waiting room with children throwing up in bags. About 30 minutes later they called him back to the triage room and did an EKG. Then they took him for Xrays & C-scan. Then back to the waiting room and called him back for blood work and admin registration. . Then back to the waiting room. Over 2 hours and no one told us anything. I went to ask the status and the check in desk said he needed to do a urine sample. So he did and back the waiting room. Almost 5 hours total and I ask if they had any results. She said well nothings broke but the doctor likes to talk to the patient after all the labs and test results are in. I ask if we could just go home and somebody can call us. That was yesterday afternoon about 4:00pm today at 3pm still waiting. I just called the ER and they said sometimes urine test take a couple days. I ask so would we still be sitting in the waiting room waiting for the doctor to tell us something. I am so ticked about how they treated my 83 year old husband and how they handle sick people who are mixed in the injured patients. It's no wonder the flu and Covid are so bad. This is unbelievable and needs attention. After 5 hours we decided to go home but they did absolutely nothing to help my husband's pain no meds, no wrap or sling. They said I could do that myself if he thinks it'll help.
