The first guy to make a hook for me was an old German fellow who shared an accent with Hermann Goering, and who's small workshop was full of plaster molds of shattered limbs, and their recreations, in various stages of completeness. Over the years, as with everything else, corporate holding companies have been quietly buying up the little independent prosthetics shops, and changing them to look and feel like a doctors office. You make an appointment, check in at the glass partitioned front counter, sit in a badly decorated waiting room until someone calls your name and takes you back to another room where you wait some more. Oregon Artificial Limb Company feels friendly when you walk in the door. There is no glass partitioned counter to report to; you don't need to take a number. The office door is open, and you just walk in. The office staff are very nice and helpful. My prosthetist of twenty-five years comes to the front and greets me by name. We chat a bit and catch up before getting down to business. My first time there, I was given a tour of the shop, introduced to all of the craftspersons, and shown all the ways they will customize my hook. I really like this place. I like the guys in the shop. Building a prosthetic is a craft. Each one is custom built to not only the needs but the lifestyle of each person, and the faceless corporate conglomerate does not lend itself to the inter-personal nature of the craft. I was texting a co-worker about the Therapy dogs and I was recalling all the benefits of that but it occurred to me that a HUGE deal for me is they use WARM water for rinsing your mouth. This does NOT seem like rocket science to me nor does it feel like this should be the exception. But it is. I NEVER had a dentist office do that. My former dental hygienist at the previous dental office used to spray the water on my tongue which really helped. But when I asked for that here, Danielle just said "hey I'll use warm water, let me know if the temperature is good." Wow. Life changed!! The kindness and courtesy is exceptional here. Every staff member has it. And the dogs are a BONUS. Sweet Rosie and Sasha bring so much joy. And the quality of care, I've never found better. They are out of network for me, but I won't go to a chain dentist. Thank GOODNESS I found them!!

Dr. Bennet said there could be an infection and recommended a series of tests. I trusted that judgment and agreed, which resulted in a thousand+ dollars in exams and X-rays--none of which showed any issues. We ultimately decided on a nightguard. Months later, I returned for a cleaning and explained that while the pain had improved, I still had flare-ups and avoided chewing on that side. I was surprised when I was given the exact same speech about needing extensive testing again for a possible infection--despite having already gone through all of that with no findings. After doing my own research, it's clear my pain is likely from clenching while I sleep. The repeated push for more testing and the implication of an infection felt like a scare tactic. On top of that, I was placed on a periodontal maintenance plan (which is more expensive) with the understanding that I could eventually return to standard cleanings. After a few visits, my hygienist--who has been great--told me I was fine to go back to regular cleanings. However, management overruled that decision. What does management know about my teeth? The experience became overwhelming. I couldn't even finish my cleaning without crying, and I ended up paying and leaving in tears. No one followed up afterward--not a call, text, or email to check in. It's disappointing because my hygienist was wonderful, and honestly the main reason I stayed as long as I did. Unfortunately, the front desk staff is unfriendly, and it's nearly impossible to get an accurate quote from them. Also consumer beware of unethical charging practices that are not disclosed. Forest Park Dental Studio seems more focused on the bottom line than the actual patient. I will not be returning.

I finally got my crown replaced (at another dentist office) so I thought I would finally write about my experience, especially since my new dentist has made this such a pleasant experience. I was looking for a new dentist that took my insurance and came across this place. From my first visit to last visit every appt was unenjoyable. From the sketchy stairs, pee smelled elevator, office gossip, I do NOT recommend going here. Also the fact that they say they're a "Holistic" dentist but they're not. The receptionist started by giving me another patients info (total HIPAA violation). The dental assistant Mary was discussing workplace annoyances to me. My first appt was getting my temporary crown placed. While in the parking lot leaving, my temp crown fell out and was loose in my mouth. I was so shocked, not once was it mentioned that was a possibility, not to mention the possible choking hazard. I went back in to let them know and they treated it so nonchalant. I came back 2 weeks later to have my permanent crown seated. The crown was done so poorly. The shape should have 4 mounds, and was almost completely smooth. The height was also taller than my other teeth which messed up my bite. I mentioned that I didn't like the shape and it felt uncomfortable, so Dr Flath tried fixing the shape, which he then made worse, and shortened the side close to my gums. Then told me there was nothing he could do because the crown was too short now. I struggle going to the dentist so I found it hard to speak up and demand they replace the crown, especially because they kept dismissing me and saying "I had to deal with it". I went to my new dentist and they had said what an awful job was done. So I called Bravo Smile and told them I got a second opinion, that my dentist said the crown was cracking, causing inflammation, and had a void. Which shouldn't be happening in a year. Bravo Smile was not helpful in the slightest. I mostly spoke with Mary and she threatened me and hung up on me. So I was not able to get a refund and had to pay to get a new crown done in under 3 years. Anyway if you stayed to read my story, thank you, just wanted to give a warning of this place. Definitely do not recommend.
