(3.5 stars) I'm a fan of Nashville hot chicken and was looking forward to having an option closer to home than Timmy's. Hangry Joe's can scratch that itch and does a respectable job for a chain, but this place isn't without its limitations. If nothing else, Hangry Joe's has proven popular in the short time it's been open. I stopped by just after 2:30 on a Friday to find the restaurant full. Granted, it's a fairly small space (plan on takeout if you're coming with a group), so it filled easily. Ordering via touchscreen was convenient as is the option to order ahead online. The Hangry Joes menu holds a lot of appeal: sandwiches, wings, fingers, chicken and waffles, salads, shakes, and more. You can customize the heat level on everything, and the wings offer both dry rubs and wet sauces. I went with a Sando, medium heat. Given the volume, the wait time wasn't too bad, and the staff here are welcoming. The Sando was billed as a smaller version of the Mega Sando, which led me to think regular instead of a large. Perhaps I should have been thinking mini instead of a regular as this sandwich was small, especially for $7. That said, it was put together well and fairly tasty. The chicken was surprisingly juicy and well-sauced, the pickle slices were thick, and the spice level was as advertised. Hangry Joe's showed enough promise to merit a return. Don't expect to be blown away, but do expect convenient, flavorful chicken that brings the heat.

Wanted to like this new chicken joint in High Point. It wasn't awful, but I wasn't really impressed. The service is what you'd expect from a fast food restaurant. The place is small and it was fairly clean, tho I never saw the sanitation grade. I had the wrap and fries. It fell apart and didn't look to be toasted like pictured on their menu. I did like the waffle fries, they were seasoned. The spicy soy ginger sauce was good. The chicken wasn't anything to brag about. My son wouldn't even eat his chicken bites. My husband ordered their "Mega Sando" and said it was just okay. It wasn't as big as the picture, either. We tried it. Probably won't be back.

The staff is extremely friendly and patient! Place is really small. Not sure if they're trying to do mostly takeout. One bathroom is a bit tough too when it's busy. Their rice bowl with red hot garlic sauce is outstanding! Rice is cooked well, even the romaine lettuce is a nice touch for crunch. The wings were tasty. Flavors are nice. The wing zing and soy spicy garlic are distinct and flavorful. I prefer the traditional over the breaded. Their hangry sauce is nothing different than the zaxby sauce, the big Mac sauce, chikfila sauce .. you get my drift. This has a bit more kick. Overall it's tasty, but price is a bit high. $29 for 18 wings is a bit much. But other than the price and the close knit quarters, I'd come back for that rice bowl alone.

I GIVE IT 7 Overall the food was alright,I ordered chicken and waffles and was good but I said mild but my chicken was hot. IT was real busy but everything was running smooth. They had great customers service, it was clean. The chicken was too salty but it was nice and hot. IF you go let me know what you think. It was nice inside.

First Hangry Joe's experience! I was told it's essentially the same as Dave's and I can see the similarities, but in my opinion I can't directly compare the two even though that seems to be the common theme. My boyfriend and I stopped in to try a sandwich. I liked the decor, the option of ordering on the tablets, the rewards program offered, and the staff were nice. Parking was seamless. I did notice they offer Pepsi products and I'm a Coca Cola girlie so had to take a point away for that! (Kidding..sort of). The menu offers more options than its alleged competitor with more sauce options and entrees, unique ones at that like the rice bowl and chicken and waffles. We opted for the Spicy Soy Garlic flavor for the sandwich. We waited a while for one sandwich BUT it was hot and fresh so I think it was a nice trade off. The chicken was huge and had nice crunch, seasoning and the flavor was delicious. The slaw and pickle were nice and refreshing, and the sauce was pretty tasty. All in all I think it was a pretty good value for the price, albeit a tad pricy but it's a big sandwich. Now, on its own I'd rate it an 8/10 based on what I tried. Compared to Dave's, I would give it a 6.5-7/10. I live ~30 mins away from this location and closer to a Dave's. Would I drive here over Dave's? Absolutely not. Would I come back if in the area? I would! And I think it's worth a try.

I decided to stop into Hangry Joes this week. While it is one of MANY of the new chicken eateries in High Point that seem to be popping up EVERY five minutes, I was excited to give them a try. I was welcomed to the store by the employee behind the counter while the manager was slumped at a table tending to something that was more important. I ordered the Mega Sando Combo which included an 8 oz seasoned chicken breast with choice of spice level, topped with cider slaw, pickles and Hangry sauce on a Brioche bun. Waffles fries and 24 oz drink at a cost of $14.95 it felt a little "high" but I went with it. I then waited....and waited...and waited. I am not sure what the hold up was in the kitchen but something was happening. One thing I did notice while waiting for my food which I was not a fan of and probably needs to be addressed is that a GRUBHUB driver came to pick up their delivery order. The young lady behind the counter handed over four cups for the driver to fill at the drink station. I am pretty sure this is in violation of health code standards as well as GRUBHUB standards. My food came to my table hot and ready to eat. I ordered my "sand" with the medium heat sauce. Let me just say this that medium is a HIGH medium! It was sauce and sassy. The fries were perfectly crispy and seemed to have some sort of seasoned coating on them. The interior space was small and had about 5-6 tables. Mostly 4 tops but there were two 6 top tables. Would I eat here again? Yes. Would I order grubhub for delivery from here? NO.

You end up waiting for your food for a while, it's not made as one order, and by the time you get home, it's no longer fresh. Dining in was a whole other experience! We arrived about 7pm, on a Friday and the restaurant wasn't very busy at all. My wife and I had both signed up for their rewards program which automatically gave us each a $5 discount on our first orders, so using the kiosks, we placed our orders separately to take advantage of the discount. Their menu is pretty on par with other chicken spots, offering wings, tended, sandwichs. Pricing is on, maybe a little high for chicken. We placed our orders to go, I ordered a chicken tender basket with an Oreo milkshake, my wife got a chicken sandwich meal. After ordering we took a seat to wait, and wait...and wait. After about 15 minutes, my milk shake was ready, another 10 minutes, my food finally came out...and then we had to wait another 10+ minutes for my wife's food to be ready...far from fast food, 2 basic orders took over 30 minutes to prepare....pretty shameful. It was very clear they seem to put a priority on delivery and online orders over in store ordering. And they also seemingly only have one person in the kitchen that can only prepare one meal at a time. It's clear they are short staffed, but there are no signs up or perceived attempts at hiring. When we finally got home, the food was good, and the portions were adequate, but the slow food prep and lack of customer service is a huge deterrent for me to return any time soon.

I ordered the #2 sliders, one Hot and one X-Hot... lol holy smokes the extra heat will light you up. I honestly can't even imagine trying the Reaper level. I also got a large chocolate milkshake and it was amazing -- super creamy and a perfect balance to the spice. The fries were awesome, perfectly seasoned, and surprisingly not too salty at all (which I really appreciated). Service was a little slow, but honestly? That's because everything is made fresh. I'll gladly wait a few extra minutes for hot, fresh food instead of something that's been sitting under a heat lamp for hours. Overall, 9/10. Great food, bold flavors, and totally worth the visit. Highly recommend!

Service was pretty good, about what we expected; and the atmosphere was as advertised, bright colors, loud music, lots to look at. HOWEVER! if you like sweet with your hot, this chicken is well marinated, fried extra crispy and cooked to perfection. the crinkle cut fries are fantastic, crisp on the outside and still soft inside, dusted with a seasoning that, for those who like sugar, would be great. I highly recommend this place to the right customer, that customer just isn't me.

My initial introduction was when they were located in Stock and Grain Food Hall. I had wanted to try them for a while and luckily I was invited to a Yelp Event where I was able to sample some items. In all fairness, I absolutely loved the service but maybe it was an off night but at the time I wasn't a fan. But as some months passed, they are no longer in Stock and Grain but in a food truck in High Point. I highly suggest following their Facebook page for dates and times where you can catch them. The service was still wonderful and the food was really good. The sweet potato cornbread is one of my favs and the chicken wings and catfish bites were fried to perfection. I love collard greens but do understand, everyone makes them differently. My family is from eastern NC so we make ours savory, theirs have a little sweetness to it. I don't mind it but this time around was so much better, it was very well balanced. The mac and cheese was delicious as well. Although not pictured, do check out their Russian tea drink. I felt very nostalgic and I have no other words but it was great. I try to savor it when I get some. I wish he sold them in half gallon jugs because I would buy it. That's how good it is. They have other items like Rasta pasta, oxtails, pork chops, and turkey wings. I can't wait to come back and try more food. Give them a follow and check them out. You won't be disappointed.

Great casual atmosphere, the staff have really come into their own, and the food is simple but has little touches that often make it a small cut above most other sports bar type places around. My favorite things to order are the smashburgers, chicken philly (almost as good as the one at Old Town, a restaurant also belonging to this same owner), and now the fish and chips. I decided to get those last night, and the fish was two good size thick cod filets, fried and breaded perfectly. The fish was flaky and tender, the remoulade it came with really elevated it, I'm glad it was not plain tartar sauce (gross). The appetizer favorite here is the pulled pork nachos for me, otherwise, we usually just get meals. If I had one small complaint, it's that the tea is usually brewed pretty weak. Steep it a little longer, and you've got me fully hooked.

However, our experience fell short upon arrival. The hostess said they don't have a table for 5 but we could add a chair to a 4 top. And when I said that's not a comfortable or reasonable set up for 5 people and asked if we could push two tables together, she seemed annoyed. Who thinks it's acceptable for a party of 5 to sit someone at the corner point of a 4 top table when there are open tables all around? The chicken itself was excellent. It was incredibly juicy, perfectly fried, and had a great crispy coating. My only issue was that the breading felt like it was missing a little something, maybe more seasoning, pepper, or some extra flavor. Growing up with places like Gus's Fried Chicken in Memphis and Nashville hot chicken, I think I naturally expect a little more punch from the chicken itself. The sauce they serve is more of a barbecue style sauce, and while it worked, I personally didn't love it enough for it to carry all the flavor. The sides were a mixed bag. The collard greens were really good and definitely one of the highlights. The coleslaw, though, was way too pepper heavy for my taste. Also, the piece of bread that comes with the meal was honestly not worth the calories. I'd rather see them either upgrade the bread or skip it altogether. One unexpected highlight was the pebble ice from the drink machine. Small detail, but it was awesome and definitely appreciated. Overall, I'd come back and try some different sides because the chicken itself is worth returning for. With a little more seasoning or some different sauce options, I could see this being a 5 star spot.
