Stopped in for a tasty lunch with my father while he was in town. It's been a few years since I visited, but it was a good reminder of what I've been missing. The service was friendly, food was tasty and well portioned. We got an order of the fried zucchini to start, which were well cook, and had a nice crispiness to them. I go the club sandwich for lunch with a side of their delicious pesto pasta salad. If you've never had their pesto pasta salad, it's top notch. We visited in on Saturday afternoon around 1, were seated promptly. It's a very relaxed environment. Awful experience today- My mom ordered the skinny burger and took two bites off the edge. When she got to the middle, the meat was completely raw. Our waitress was lovely and we simply asked her to take it away and my mom was going to finish her salad. At no point did we ask to get it for free, she simply did not want it as it turned her stomach. A few minutes later this old woman with short grey hair comes over and proceeds to tell my senior mother that she should've told her at the first bite; and that half the burger was eaten. She then said she would put the two raw bites in the middle back on the grill. First of all, two bites were taken, not half the burger. Second of all, who puts a burger back on the grill after it's been eaten- that is nasty. Then! I say something about how rude this woman was after my mother walks out while I'm paying and this woman comes BACK out into the lobby and proceeds to start screaming and cursing at me that she wasn't rude to my MOM. She absolutely was rude. She's a piece of work. I come from a long line of restaurant owners and if you're so hard up that you have to argue with customers about the quality of your food, then maybe it's time to close. Blue Zucchini is one of my fav lunch spots in High Point! My friends and I always make a point of stopping by when we're in town. My go-to is the confusion wrap which includes a humans spread, lettuce, feta, and tomato. It's full of veggie goodness! They have a pretty decent selection of sandwich, salad, and side options. One of the hidden gems at Blue Zu is the fries - I'm not sure what seasoning they put on these put it is delicious! Only downside of this place is the hours, they are very limited only during lunch time and not every day of the week. So be sure to double check their business hours before you stop by. Great place for lunch or breakfast if you are looking for a healthier option. It has such a cute decor with a homey charm. The service was great and the food arrived at the table quickly. The have gluten free bread so all of the sandwich options can be made gluten free if you choose. I had the Confusion which was hummus, cucumber, marinated tomato and lettuce. Super yummy and each sandwich comes with a choice of side. I also tried the chicken salad and it was decent but not the best I've had. Came here with a friend for a late lunch. Luckily, we missed the rush and we're seated right away. The decor of the restaurant was cute and inviting. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. I tried the cool burger with fries. Both were really good. The burger had a lot of barbecue sauce (it was literally dripping off the burger) but that's how I like it. The fries are the really skinny but tasted great. My friend tried the jerk chicken wraps with fries. Unfortunately, we weren't too impressed by the wrap. It had a little kick, but the seasoning was off. Overall, it was a good visit. It's definitely tailored more toward lunch at light dinner foods. Well, my wife and I finally got to have a meal here as we found ourselves in the area during lunchtime, and the place was jumping! Very different scene from the dead as a doornail, one hour before closing, scene we drove up to in my last review. I had their take on a roast beef sandwich melt with fries, and she had a grilled bacon and cheese sandwich with pasta salad. The bread on both sandwiches was excellent, and my beef was pretty good along with a nice thick melty cheese top. I was also really impressed by the fries. Perfectly golden, crispy, and a large amount of them. Everything was pretty efficient, as you can tell this place is primarily geared toward the lunch crowd and they are looking to shuffle people in and out. It's not a large space, and there was a line for tables as we left. This did not make us feel rushed or in any way hurried by the waitress, just took the social cue the people would like our table. This is a "laterYelp" -- was there months ago, and just realized I'd never written my review. So the fact that I remember how good it was -- for myself and for my co-workers who were there with me -- is a credit to this place! We dropped by today for a quick lunch with our two year old daughter (easier said than done most days!) The three of us had a great experience! We started with the fried zucchini appetizer--it was piping hot and so tasty. It came with some homemade ranch for dipping, which only added to how good the appetizer was! My husband got the confusion which was as served on naan. He loved it! It was full of hummus and delicious flavor. I got the Brie-licious (based on the recommendation of my husband and some yelpers). It was good but not my favorite--I'm pretty picky and it tasted too sweet for me. My daughter had the kids Mac and cheese. Being two, and a COVId baby, she was more interested in the other tables and what the waitresses were doing so she didn't eat much in the restaurant but finished it as soon as we got home the bites that my husband and I stole were quite tasty! My sister, mom and daughter's food arrived, mine was the last to land. The croissant bun was an overheated (microwaved) croissant and not the correct bun and it only had maybe a half portion of turkey on each side, no apple, no pepper jelly and if there was cheese it was the smallest amount known to man. Ya'll this is a 13.00 sandwich! When I asked my waitress about the cheese and apple she promised me there was cheese mixed in with the meat (nope!) and she would fix the apple. I agreed and she took my plate to "fix it". While she was gone the owner came over to our table and was very defensive. I have waited tables and I am very kind about mistakes and things being fixed so her rude attitude was greatly unappreciated. She asked me what was wrong... I asked her about the croissant because it use to be on a croissant bun, she rudely explained they couldn't get them this week. okay. and then I shared it didn't have an apple, or pepper jelly and overall just wasn't right. She asked and I kindly explained. I wasn't nasty, I didn't curse or have an attitude. She was very much in her feelings that as a customer I was unhappy with the food that was delivered to me. My guess is they used the same amount of turkey on the larger croissant that they use on the smaller bun which was pathetic. When my sandwich landed again it still was the saddest thing I have ever seen with the sad addition of one thin apple slice that again seemed microwaved. The waitress agreed to take it back and just let me order something else. I had a burger the night before but at that point it seemed like the safest option. When it arrived it was delicious however it was delivered by the person I would assume was the "chef" who proceeded to toss my plate in front of me with an attitude and then re-coiled back to get his dig in that he, "doesn't use a microwave." very rudely. Wow! Just wow, I have never in my life been treated so rudely for a 13 dollar sandwich that clearly was one of the most pathetic things to ever come out of a kitchen. Do better Blue Zucchini! I have recommended you to friends and family 100's of times over the last 10-11 years and it breaks my heart to be treated so poorly and have below average food. You clearly need an attitude adjustment and not be so defensive when a customer isn't happy with their food. I will never recommend you to anyone again and will share this story with everyone I know. After dining at Blue Zucchini for over 4 years now, I've been so incredibly pleased with everything they have to offer. The food is consistent, the service is pleasant and the atmosphere is comfortable. Keep in mind that the restaurant is only open from 11-3 (closed on Monday's) which makes it a fabulous early or late lunch spot. You could also call ahead and order your lunch for easy pick up. Favorite menu items: the Brilicious Sandwich (turkey, apple slices, Brie cheese and pepper jelly served on a croissant bun) with a side of hot crispy fries and honey mustard as well as the Veggie Confusion Sandwich (hummus, marinated tomatoes, cucumbers, goat cheese and greens with red wine vinaigrette on naan bread) with a little salad or their Pesto Pasta Salad. (3.5 stars) Though its name may call to mind artsy vegan food, Blue Zucchini's closest analogue is probably Greensboro's Iron Hen (minus its much-maligned owner) in that it supplies comforting American eats in a quaint and quirky albeit somewhat crowded space. That isn't to say that there aren't vegetarian options here - there definitely are - but rather that one should recalibrate expectations accordingly. And what should one expect? Go during lunchtime on a weekday, and expect a brief wait for a table. Expect to gawk at the desserts positioned conveniently near the register. Expect to gawk at the brightly colored interior and either nod in approval or find it a bit much. Expect to be torn between at least two different sandwiches (and, possibly, at least two different sides) when perusing the menu. These expectations dispensed with, my wife and I opted for a fried green tomato starter, a West L.A. (turkey, bacon, avocado, cheese, chipotle mayo, lettuce, and tomato on sourdough) and a Low Rider (roast beef, cherry peppers, Havarti, and horseradish mayo on a baguette), with cups of black bean soup on the side. Fried green tomatoes are one of our litmus test dishes, and Blue Zucchini's rendition (with pimento and balsamic) proved to be a mixed bag. The tomatoes were both thickly sliced and thickly battered and were nice and crisp. However, they were also quite dry. Thanks to odd plating, only the two slices in the middle had any pimento (sandwiched between them). Fortunately, the sandwiches were less confounding. Gooey melted cheese and a nice kick from the horseradish mayo made the Low Rider a winner. The black bean soup's addition of salsa and sour cream kept it from being one-note. Prompt service and reasonable pricing ($9.75 and $8.95, sides included) made for more points in Blue Zucchini's favor. It remains to be seen whether or not Blue Zucchini handles dinner entrees as well as it does sandwiches, but it has all the makings of a solid lunch spot - albeit not one worth more than a fifteen-minute wait. read more

I've eaten here three times in the span of two days. It's a really great sandwich place in High Point. There are a number of creative sandwiches. I first ordered the turkey with apples, brie, and pepper jelly on a croissant. My second sandwich was a turkey, bacon, and cheese. Both had plentiful amounts of meat and topping. This is not a skimpy sandwich for sure! In terms of sides, I tried both the little salad and the fries. The fries were really good and came with a generous serving. The salad was typical and nothing really special. If you're dining in, the eating area is adorable and well decorated. The restaurant is right off a main road in High Point, so it's also easy to find. Lastly, the staff was nice and hospitable. The only reason I'm giving four stars is that I will say I think the dinner was a little bit over priced for the size and quality. This is hands down my favorite place for lunch in High Point. I've never had anything here I don't like, though admittedly I'm a creature of habit and typically get the same thing (Breelicious). This time I tried the daily special, an ahi tuna wrap with an oriental sesame sauce and it was delicious! I have had lunch at Blue Zucchini 3-4 times now and each experience has been very good. Note that BZ is not very big and it can quickly get very busy around lunch time. If you don't make the first seating, you may want to consider other options if time is an issue. Also, do not be deterred by the small parking lot - there is another lot just next door and there may very well be seating inside even if BZ's lot is full. My go-to is the Skinny Dip - the bunless burger with avocado and marinated tomatoes. It's reasonably healthy and won't leave you feeling miserable and in need of a nap. My buddy's go-to is the Southern Pride - the sammich with fried green tomatoes and pimento cheese. We pretty much get the same selections every time we go because they're so good. I came here on a Saturday afternoon around 3pm for a late lunch and was seated immediately. While the restaurant wasn't busy per se, it did have a steady stream of people coming and going. The dining area, while charming and inviting, was rather small with around 10-12 tables/booths. The decor was adorable with a cottage and beachy feel. Serene pastel green and blue paint coated the walls, with one wall covered with an assortment of mirrors of various shapes and sizes. The geometric artworks, funky fabrics, and mismatched chairs all added charm to this small establishment. The interior was a sharp contrast to the nondescript exterior which sits on a lot that looks a bit rundown. Don't let that scare you from coming in though because the food that awaits you inside is delightful, comforting, with a unique spin on southern flavors. Now onto the food. We ordered the fried zucchini as our appetizer, shoestring fries, Two Lil' Pigs sandwich, Carolina sandwich, and the Brielicious sandwich with the soup of the day which was a chicken and rice chowder. Being the glutton that I am, I had to try everyone's food as well and each item was delicious! If I had to choose just one out of the three sandwiches for my next visit, it would be the Brielicious. The sandwich consisted of turkey, apple slices, brie cheese, pepper jelly, on a croissant roll. The components married well together and the pepper jelly added a nice sweetness and kick to the sandwich. All burgers and sandwiches are under $10 and comes with a side item with your choice of pasta salad, green salad, potato salad, french fries, potato chips or a cup of soup. The appetizer and side items were my favorite part of the meal. The fried zucchini was very good. Though we did have a difficult time picking up each piece without the yummy panko crust falling off. I LOVE SHOESTRING FRIES! They were perfectly crispy and soft at the same time. I should have gotten two baskets to go. Get the fries! The soup, oh that soup. I woke up Sunday morning craving that soup. I wanted to call in an order only to find out they are closed on Sundays! Grrrrrrrr! The soup was so rich and creamy with nice size pieces of chicken and plenty of vegetables and rice. I imagine if I were deathly sick with the flu, this soup would have healing properties that can cure my ailment. Please, put this soup on your permanent menu. When you've completed your meal and receive your check, you'll head back to the lobby area and pay at the register. There, a display of decadent baked good awaits you. Staring at you. There's an obvious lack of effort in the back of the house here. Food is consistently under-seasoned, and some of the things that hit the plate are a bit head-scratching. Chicken Salad has texture issues. It's very finely chopped, served by itself on a roll, and is just bland, and boring. The Cubano was mushy, but not too bad. The potato soup was terribly out of balance and had a weird aftertaste. The lemon bar was buried under powdered sugar. The prices are high for the quality of restaurant and its ambiance. What really tripped me out was the ridiculously small portion of food that is served. Portion control is a big statement maker. $11 for a small sandwich and a spoonful of pasta as a side is not worth $11 to me. Is it magic food? Blue Zucchini is one of the few resturaunts that offer both classic southern service and a different interesting menu. I got the Baja Burger that included a side of their pasta salad. Our service was fast and incredibly helpful. Our order was taken right away and we got our food in less than 10 minutes. The burger itself was full of flavor and cooked very well. We all enjoyed the pasta salad which was a pesto style sauce, it is a definite must have. If pesto isn't much your speed, their fries were some of the best I've ever had, being in the best way possible, like more impressive McDonalds fries.
