The food was outstanding and great service. Had fried catfish. It had corn meal breading. Very flavorful. Ribs are also great. Now about the sides. Peanut slaw, yum. Indiana thing. Greens perfect. And Mac and cheese. Very Friendly and helpful server.

Outstanding BBQ along with everything else on the menu as we have tried it ALL. Great owners/servers. Sides are just outstanding and a special treat as each is a incredibe flavor contrast. Prices are spot ON! Give em a try!

Was really surprised. Barbecue places tend to get inflated reviews, but this place is fire. The fried green tomatoes are excellent as are the deviled eggs with ham. The smoked meatloaf sandwich is on point. Cheddar biscuits are great as well. The service was friendly and attentive. The place has been remodeled nicely and it has cute little patio. Everything was top notch. I am picky on barbecue, but everything was quality and well presented. Coming back.

Ok, shocked that this restaurant has been in Aurora for 4 years and we never had been there! This place is awesome, and now ranks top for BBQ we've found in the tri-state! Now for brisket, still Pig Candy, but for terrific baby backs and pulled pork, Hankering is it. Large portions, very fairly priced, awesome bbq sauce, nice sides, highly recommended!

My dad had surgery recently and has t had much of an appetite but he really wanted tomato soup from Hankering's. I went in and asked for 2 orders of tomato soup to go This is what they got for $15. My mom said it was a much smaller container than they have got in the past and it was barely 1/2 full. We love supporting small businesses but will not support a business that is okay with treating customers this way.

    Little bit of everything!

Best food and service! Absolutely delicious and we'll be back! Catfish was a winner and the cornbread was some of the best we've ever had.

Stopped by for a quick lunch, in and out in 25 minutes which was awesome. The green tomato pickles on the grilled cheese were a great addition. I'll probably order extra pimento on the sandwich next time simply because I love it. The smoked tomato bisque blew my mind, such a unique take on tomato soup. The greens and sweet tea were classic, and also very good. Staff was very kind as well.

What a hidden gem! You could easily walk past this place and not realize it was there, but don't make that mistake. I was so pleasantly surprised. If you're looking for southern home cooking, this is the spot! I ordered the BBQ meatloaf with Mac and cheese, fried green tomatoes and mashed potatoes. All of it was delicious. And the sweet tea is spot on! I stole a bite of my brother's apple cobbler and immediately regretted not ordering some for myself. We were the only guests in the dining room on a Saturday night which was hard to believe. The prices are also fantastic given the amount of food you receive. The owner, Tammy, served us and she was incredibly sweet. I'm telling everyone in the Aurora area about this spot and can't wait to go back.

Food was excellent and the service was great!! Everyone in the restaurant was super attentive and very nice. Some of the best catfish I've had in a long time. I literally ate it until I thought I was going to burst. The Cajun tartar sauce was a cool twist on a classic and we all really enjoyed it. The baked beans were very good and the mac & cheese was basic but tasty. Cole slaw was not my favorite- it was really salty. Made me wonder if it might have been an off batch? I'll give it another go next time because everything else was so good. Those jalapeño corn muffins though... wow. They came out piping hot and absolutely melted in your mouth. I'd make the trip back just to have those again. Can't wait to go back!

Only downside was I was hoping to order steak and eggs, but found out breakfast is only served on weekends, which I didn't realize ahead of time. And they were out of an item we initially ordered but got something else. Still, really enjoyed the meal and would definitely come back.

One evening, we decided to try a local place, Kelly's Homestead Restaurant, and unfortunately, it was a disappointing experience. We walked in and found the restaurant fairly busy. After waiting at the entrance, the host simply asked, "How many?" then grabbed menus and walked off toward a booth without saying "Follow me" or offering any kind of welcome. She tossed the menus on the table and walked away--no greeting, no "Your server will be right with you," nothing. We sat for 15 minutes without a single server acknowledging us or taking a drink order. Looking around, we noticed other tables had drinks, but hardly anyone seemed to be having their orders taken. Eventually, we left and headed to Cracker Barrel, where both the service and the food were fantastic. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend Kelly's Homestead Restaurant.

They had parking, and although they were full on reservations, 2 spots at the bar opened up and we grabbed them happily! First, the food was FANTASTIC! I had the Willy Burger and my husband had the fried bologna sandwich and we both loved what we ordered and vice versa. The sauce on the burger was phenomenal! The drink menu was extensive and looked so good but we were in a bit of a hurry and I'm 6 months pregnant so we settled for waters. Second, the service was excellent. Everyone was so kind and helpful. The ambience was great, I loved the big open garage door and patio seating they offered. The decor was so cute! We are bummed that brunch reservations for tomorrow are full, but we will absolutely be back!

They have a nice outdoor area, which we avoided due to the current heatwave. We ordered two apps - FRIED GREEN TOMATOES - Topped with Libby's pimento cheese, pork belly lardons, bourbon onion jam, and herb oil and FRIED CHICKEN SKINS - Hand breaded and served with hot honey dipping sauce. The fried green tomatoes were nicely plated, though the pork belly lardons and bourbon onion jam did not have the most pleasant color. They were good, but not as great as the description. Fried chicken skin is the thing! I first had it when we lived in California. An Asian market served them up thinly breaded and fried perfectly crispy. I just about jumped out of my skin when I saw it on the menu at Libby's. The breading at Libby's is thick. It's tasty for sure, but it's quite thick. A quick glance at the chicken skins and it looks like full-on chicken. Anyway, they were very good and I would definitely order them again. I had a taste of the hot honey dipping sauce because it spilled. It was good, but for me it detracted from the flavor I'm looking for. I had to have the FRIED BOLOGNA BLT - House smoked bologna, pimento cheese, fried egg, house made BBQ sauce, spring mix lettuce, & sliced green tomato on grilled 16 Bricks sourdough. First, it was huge! I could only eat half. It was very good. All the different flavors mixed together well. It was messy!! It was so obviously messy the server brought over extra napkins without us having to ask! Top Notch! Oh, the mac and cheese side was just okay. I barely touched it. The second half of the sandwich was delicious cold. It was also not messy at all. The leftover mac and cheese had turned inedible in the fridge. I did not mind throwing it out. My friend had the CLASSIC TURKEY CLUB. It was also huge and she only ate half. The fries were crispy and delicious. Mark had THE DOC HOLLADAY. He said it was okay. He also only ate half. I think he enjoyed the cold leftover more. I like the menu; lots of options. The place is cute. The staff is great. We'd definitely come back.

Both my server and manager were so engaging and friendly, it didn't feel like I was dining alone. The space itself definitely doesn't make it feel like you're in Cincy- very warm and inviting. I settled on the cornbread, which is a menu staple. The butter on top felt so decadent and the cornbread itself was very savory. For my entree, I chose the jollof and the veggie selection for the evening which was grilled okra with a banana gastrique. That alone felt so cool, I had to order it. The jollof was so good, so filling, perfectly spiced and Chef actually broke it down for me all the spices he used to capture that flavor. I wish I had room for dessert, but I didn't want to go too crazy! Between the service (which they make it a point to open the door for everyone), the open kitchen, the food and then since I was a tourist they gave me recs for so many places to go in the city, I'm happy to rate this place 5 stars.

Through all of our visits, we've had some truly wonderful meals, but this one may have been the top! We were immediately greeted at the door by Kristen who welcomed us back and showed is to our preferred table. Shortly after, Henry introduced himself as our server. Having already previewed the just dropped summer menu, we had a pretty good idea what we wanted. Henry shared some specials and we got to to ordering. The tuna appetizer was a great start. Three different cuts of tuna with a peach and oil sauce. The fish was amazing with the slight peach flavor amping it up a notch. Great start. Next we had the pork belly skewer. The pork belly was grilled with a drizzle of Alabama bbq. The pork belly was so tender and flavorful. Again, plenty of smiles to go around. For the main course, we shared the fish and iberico mains. The fish this night was swordfish which was so flavorful and moist. The iberico was tender and, for me, the corn maque choux made the dish. I could have eaten a big bowl of that goodness! Though we dont normally order desert, we did get to peach skillet cobbler. A perfect light tasty finish to the meal. Throughout the evening, Henry was the perfect server, happy to share his observations and always with a smile. Love when we get a minute with Chef Jeff as well. So glad we got to experience this menu so early. We well for sure be back before the next seasonal switch.
