First off, let me emphasize that I was super excited and was recommended Hanlon's service. I brought in 4 new wheels to install on my existing tires. I was happy with the fast service and excited about my new wheels. To my fault, I took a back angle photo of the back right tire then left. Fast forward a week and not using my truck, I washed it. When I got to my wheels, I used a sponge and car soap. I see a black oily substance and scratches on the center area of one wheel. I inspected the last 3 and find all the same marks. I called Hanlon's and they told me to send photos. I did and had to call back over 30 minutes later to get a response. I was told by Rob, "the manager", that he would get back to me on the following Monday. Of course, he didn't and I had to call back. He told me he would get back to me the next day. Tuesday, 3 days after the initial call, I am given the "he's on lunch" excuse for the second time. I called again and I'm out on hold for 13 minutes and 22 seconds. Rob proceeds to say it wasn't their fault according to an online service "specialist". I then told him I'm coming in. As I drive in, I felt the hostility of 3 of his workers surrounding my truck, probably trying to justify their work was good and it wasn't them. Rob used a flashlight and inspected a couple of the wheels and proceeded to deny it. He showed me a paper of an email of someone else's wheel that was scratched and said "see, this is how our machine would've scratched them". If you're the only shop to touch my BRAND NEW $2000 WHEELS, and there's scratches on all 4 wheels in consistent locations, how can you deny my claim? Three out of 4 boxes were sealed. Long story and you've probably moved on from my review already, but think twice before going to Hanlon's. Rob has my number and he has the opportunity to correct his mistake. However he sees fit on a settlement, I'm all ears. He mentioned "refurbish" on the phone and I'm not refurbishing my brand new wheels. I have gone to Hanlon's multiple times now. I bought tires and had oil changes and tire rotations on three different cars. The last few times simple oil changes have turned into $500 services. I don't know much about cars and I do think they probably do OK work, but I feel like I'm being up sold repeatedly and taken advantage of. I won't be going back. The oil changes change price depending on who's at the counter. I bought my tires there so the tire rotation should be free but then all of a sudden my oil change is 40 more dollars than the last time. They had trouble getting a screw off the oil pan for my jeep and that turned into over $400 by itself. I'm sorry I cannot recommend them. read more

Terrible Service - They Destroyed My Tire and Lied About It I got a nail in my tire with only minor air leakage, so I brought my car to to Hanlon's Tire Service expecting a simple fix. Instead, they completely destroyed my tire during the repair process, leaving a massive hole--about 7 inches long. To make matters worse, they tried to lie and blame it on a "manufacturer defect." My car is only a year old, and the tires were practically new, so that excuse was both ridiculous and dishonest. Because of their incompetence, I had to hire a tow truck to take my car to a Mercedes service center. There, I had to pay nearly $600 for a brand-new tire. After thoroughly inspecting the damaged tire, the Mercedes technicians confirmed there was absolutely no manufacturer defect--the previous repair shop had simply ruined it. Despite all this, Hanlon's Tire Service refused to take responsibility or reimburse me for the damage they caused. They promised the owner would contact me, but he never did. If I could give them zero stars, I would. Their lack of professionalism, dishonesty, and refusal to take accountability is beyond frustrating. I've been meaning to write a review for this place - a little over a month ago I got a flat tire, a day before our drive from bay area to Los Angeles. Oh well, things happen, so I came here to get it patched. When it was done, I noticed my mud flaps were detached from my car, which was strange and wouldn't have happened if they jacked the car up properly. Whatever, I put the mud flaps back on and looked forward to our road trip the next day... Next day comes along, we're halfway on highway 5 and I started to hear loud noises coming from the suspension. I was worried I would be stranded there with my family but luckily got to LA safely and went to another mechanic. They told me my control arms were destroyed and the fix costed me $2200, the same side of the control arms where I got my tire patched... Of course I had to get it repaired to drive back safely but this wouldn't have happened if Hanlons couldn't simply find the right jack point. We've been going to Hanlon's for any tire related issues for years. They still impress me with their fast service, and friendliness. I went in with a tire that needed a patch, without an appointment, and I was in and out in 35 minutes. I listened as the staff helped another customer get his tire covered by a warranty, and as they handled customer's phone calls. Hanlon's staff really makes me feel comfortable, the prices are good, and they don't bs you. Rob and Octavio were super responsive and took great care of the car, even after a week delay due to my insurance company being slow and an additional several days of Tesla parts delivery fiasco (it's hard for non-owners to reach them, then they delivered the wrong color wheels before getting it right!) Skip these guys. Used to be good but not anymore. I had 4 tires, brakes, and struts/shocks done. He said I was buying KYB shocks for the rear. About a year later I was driving down 280 in fast lane doing 80 mph and suddenly an explosion in the back of my car and it fell. Good thing I wasn't killed!! I managed to pull off and the back of my car was hanging down with just enough clearance for the tire to spin. I slowly drove to the nearest shop I could find. They said they've never seen a shock come undone from the frame like this, the connector disintegrated. They said the shock was some no-name cheap junk. I had both rear shocks replaced $400. I went back to Hanlon's and gave them the faulty shock. He had no explanation for the cheap shock not being the KYB I paid for. They didn't apologize, or offer any money, or offer any future services to make up for this disaster. NEVER again will I go to them. BEWARE!! read more

I asked my brother to bring them my car to install some new tires I got from eBay. My brother knows nothing about cars but since I was a regular customer in this place I trusted them. I purchased 4 Ohtsu tires from eBay, unfortunately the seller only shipped 3. I needed the car so I decided to proceed. The two front tires were worn out. The other two in the back still had thread. However, one of them was bulging. They decided it was an excellent idea to leave that particular tire in the car. Now I have no car to use for 4th of July. You can blame this crap to my clueless brother but this is clearly bad business practice. Why would a customer bring new tires to replace every other tire that were still usable, except for the one that is a ticking time bomb? They purposely left it out. I don't know who decided it was a good idea but if you are thinking about using this place; you have been warned. I have 5 vehicles. I have always used Hanlon's Tire Service to mount tires I bought on eBay. I would usually pay $25 per tire + disposal fee for my smaller vehicles, and sometimes they would even offer me a discount on the final price when they believe my old tires were too good to be thrown away. Well, the management certainly changed for the worse because the price went up for me. When I heard the price I told brother to ask them to help us with the price. We are all living through difficult times and there are plenty of shops in the bay so why not help a regular customer a bit? We have two more vehicles that need the tires installed. But.... They decided it was better to no budge on the price, stating that this is price they charge when people buy tires elsewhere and that the price has gone up. I have always used Hanlon's for tire installation, but these new guys certainly don't like people bringing tires to them for installation. So I ended paying more than I used to mount some cheap Ohtsu small tires for my economy car. No matter. I will not use them anymore. I will gladly take my money elsewhere. I then spoke to Hanlons (after finding them on Yelp of course!!) and I got a quote and they were able to get me in the next day at 8AM. At 8:45 there was still known one to help me and others. I left and made an appointment elsewhere. Also their prices are ridiculous. I've been using this business for years. They do pretty much everything for cars, and they've worked on all of ours. They are always friendly, fast, and very honest. Today I got a bigger taste of just how honest and how much integrity they have. I was ready to buy two new tires that would have run me more than $400, which was a better price than what we'd been quoted elsewhere. When I got there, Rob said he could repair one tire for $35, and that he didn't want to sell me new tires because ours were still in good condition. They made sure the pressure was good and that all four tires were balanced and I was out the door for $35. I'm very impressed by their level of integrity. We will be customers for life! read more
