What a life-saver. Today we were on the way home to HMB from a stay at our kid's house in SF when a rear tire suddenly went flat. We had a car full of travel gear, frozen food, and a yappy dog. My auto mechanic in San Francisco had retired and closed his shop. I was looking for a honest and reliable mechanic. Through a referral from a family member, I contacted Pacifica Tire & Service Center to service my two automobiles. One car had a wheel-bearing issue, and both cars needed an oil change. I spoke with the three brothers (Albert, Frank & Oscar) that ran the business. All three seem to be friendly, kind, and considerate. Needless to say, with 40+ years in the business, they are experience and knowledgeable. They did the work that was needed and did not try to oversell. And, for one of my cars, they noted that the coolant level was low and then they pressure tested the cooling system to check for leaks. I am pleased with the service they provided and the charges for the work were reasonable. I will definitely be bringing my cars back to them for regular servicing. read more

At Pacifica Tire & Service Center they let me know my tires were good through next summer, and to consider replacement before winter rains next year! Ridiculous that they charge a minimum of $215 to diagnose a problem. My check engine light has been on for the last few weeks and I just spent $1200 at this place for tires and a wheel alignment and they said it would be a minimum of $215 to see what's wrong with it. These guys are good. After a pretty rude interaction from a different mechanic shop I asked my neighbor who they use. He gave me their card and said he'd been going for over 40 years. I gave them a call and they tried to diagnose and help me trouble shoot over the phone. When I got there I was welcomed with a smile. Not a fake smile either. Like a genuine "how can we help you" type of service in there. Pretty rare for a mechanic shop if you ask me. They quoted me over the phone an exact price. The person I had spoke to on the phone wasn't there when I went in and the guy the gentleman that helped me in person quoted me the exact same price. No scams. Just good business. I had a starter replaced which I thought would at least take a day. I dropped off at 8 am and they had it back to me by 11-12 same day. Family owned. Overall they were very upfront with pricing and I never once felt like they were trying to pull a fast one on me. I was worried that my tire was punctured or damaged as I kept getting warnings on my dash to check air pressure. This place was on my way to my office and I had to have my tires checked so I was safe to drive. Everyone was friendly and I was out in less than an hour. It was determined my tire was not damaged, they removed it and did tests but found nothing. All their work only cost me $20, totally worth it. These guys are so friendly and cool. I really wanted to like this place because we live nearby. Unfortunately, they have lost my trust. I got tires from them in mid-2022. It was not an emergency - they were just worn down. I immediately noticed reduced gas mileage with the new tires. I called them up to ask what happened, and they said maybe I needed new spark plugs, or if I wanted higher quality tires, I could pay $400 more. I did calculations on how long tires would last with approx gas prices and decided that was not worth it. Fast forward to 2024, I take my car somewhere else after Pacifica Tire says they can't help me with my car's warning light that was on. The other repair shop (will remained unnamed because this review is not about them) tells me that my tires are marked 3920. Being a non-expert on cars, they tell me this means they were manufactured in the 39th week of 2020. I was floored. I was sold nearly 2 year old tires, and tires can show wear in about 5 years. Maybe there was some kind of pandemic shortage at the time, I have no idea. I should have been informed with an explanation at the time of purchase. At least now I know to look for that in the future. Furthermore, the other repair shop recommended an alignment and replacing the suspension control arms. After this was done, my mileage was restored without changing the tires. Pacifica Tire never mentioned these services to me as a possible cause for my reduced mileage. So I spent two years with 5% reduced fuel efficiency because I took my car here. read more

When I asked about it, he said someone else at the shop gave me the quote while he was on vacation and he refused to honor the price I was given on the phone. read more

I made an appointment for the next day, they took my car the moment I brought it in, said it would take 45 min to repair and that I should go take a walk on the beach while they fixed it. Hit a piece of road debris and got a puncture a mile away from this place. Showed up around noon without an appointment and didn't even have the key to remove the locking lug nut. I've been looking for an honest, reliable, affordable, and knowledgable mechanic for years now and I have finally found my shop! Oscar and his brother are SUPER honest and very reasonably priced for the high quality work they do. I brought my car in for 90k servicing and they did an amazing job. They also didn't try to add on a ton of unnecessary line items like other shops do. Oscar is the best! He explains everything so clearly and will put your worries at ease. I also recently had a bunch of dashboard lights turn on, so he ran his scanner to see what the error codes meant and didn't charge me anything to do so (dealer was charging $250 just to look at my car!). Not only where they almost $100 cheaper than some of the big box stores I had gotten quotes from, but they rushed me in and helped me select the perfect tires to fit my needs. I turned in my trusty lex to check on electrical, I called multiple times for feedback. They said they'd work on it, they unplugged the sparkplugs gave it back after 5 days. I could no longer read the dash. Brought it back 3 days later, for the same electrical issues, they kept for another 5 days, when i picked it up I could no longer unlock/open or close the hood without them having to finagle it with a metal rod. Returned home from garage, maybe 4 minutes. I parked and found that the radiator was leaking. I also noticed dolls and toys in that backseat that did not belong to my boys. Had a neighbor look under the car to confirm radiator crack along with puddle. Called to inquire, they immediately said they had no idea about the cracked radiator and to bring it back it so they can take a look at it. I'm a mom with 2 school age kids, in the middle of this pandemic. This experience was traumatizing and took me a while to post. read more

Before going to Pacifica Tire and Service Center, I had another mechanic which was very convenient (I could walk there). But some things were making me a little uncertain. When I went in for my last oil change, I became even more uncertain about my usual place when I was given conflicting (one expected, one really high) estimates for new front brake pads. I called around and Pacifica Tire and Service Center replaced my brake pads for about $100 less than the other estimates. That's pretty significant. Service was pleasant and efficient. This will be my new mechanic. One thing for new customers to note--there isn't a whole lot of room to wait. But you can just go across the street to Pacific Java in Rockaway Beach. Or on a nice day, just sit on a bench by the beach. read more

They didn't replace the bushings on my celica for the strut tower. When it was done for I told them I wanted to drive the car hard and replace everything I said I have money and tbh it was good for a bit but then it started making noise and started to have bad feel from the strut tower bushing. And I felt extremely disappointed for a long time because it would have cost me extra money to just have them do that when they were already there. I found it to be extremely hard to think why would they do that to me? So it kinda ruined the car for me. I didn't want to waste the money or time to do the strut towers there again because they would still charge me for the labor because I looked young, I don't enjoy being discriminated because of age. I don't enjoy not being listened to and them acting nice and understanding but then they don't replace the strut tower bushings. It's just so simple. All the work is really good. But just whoever worked that weekday wasn't doing it. I would recommend this place but to be extremely strict with what they do because I have been ripped off from the part price to the labor costs . They over priced me on the recycling fee and didn't give me a option to take it myself. 400$ they're crazy. read more
