Our food was delivered timely and the live music made it a perfect night out. Prices are fairly reasonable and drinks are cheap. I agree with Mona's comments. My experience is based on an October 2024 Wednesday evening. Kim provided efficient service. We order a soda, a sangria (red) and shared a huge bowl of truffle fries. The fries were freshly made--hot, crispy outside soft inside and topped with a sprinkling of cheese. Preface this with the food is incredible delicious. The waitress, Cam, a 30-40 yr lacked any social skills required to work in a loud, pool side restaurant with a very loud happy hour live music. She took offense when she felt "we were intentionally ignoring her". Our group of 5 are educated and never would we have done that had we heard her. Actually my Apple Watch kicked in with loud environment twice. She scolded us 4x as she said if we were on a plane she could kick us out. After we ordered, we were in disbelief of her behavior. The one man said after she left "wow, I tipped her $20.00. Mind you we all generously tipped Cam. Cam came back immediately and said in front of the whole group do you want your $20.00 back? When the man in our group said what? She repeated herself. She was escalating a situation with her immature, it's all about me mentality. We explained we genuinely did not hear her and were so engaged in our conversations and we apologized. Apology not accepted. The next day I talked to Jodi the manager. After I told her my story, her reply was an un empathetic response 'and what do you want me to do"? Then told me how frustrating it is when customers "ignore" her and she would have handled it the same way! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Clearly they are in the wrong profession if they cannot take not able to hear in a loud environment as a personal attack.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]And lack the maturity to not escalate a loud environment into an argument and a personal attack.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I hope it this was a learning opportunity for the two but I believe both lack the ability to see beyond their own self. read more

Awesome place to hang out. The drinks are reasonable, happy hour every day from 3-6, live music every night and serves food poolside from noon to 10pm. I think The food is from Kihei cafe. It's honestly the tastiest pool bar fare I've ever had. There is something for everyone. I don't understand the poor rating. We honestly enjoyed every moment! Food is not nearly as good as what Kihei Cafe servers for breakfast and lunch. Very much dive bar food. Restaurant is generally understaffed as well, so slow service is a normal experience. Good place to go for just drinks and fries. Ambiance is nice with the music. read more

This used to be our go to bar every trip to Maui but several years ago it had declined and we stopped going. This trip we decided to give it another try and we are so glad we did! [[HIGHLIGHT]]As a Maui resident, coming to this pool bar makes me feel like I'm on vacation even when I'm taking a lunch break in between jobs.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I recently discovered the chicken tenders with fries and haven't tried much else as far as food goes and I will keep coming back for this comfort food staple. My friend said the fish and chips were so good she came back the next day for more. Pretty good selection of drinks for a pool bar. Nothing too fancy. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They have live music every night out by the pool, a couple TVs to watch sports, and from what I was told, they are the earliest bar serving drinks on the South side when it's 5 o'clock somewhere.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Not sure exactly what time they open, but good to know. [[HIGHLIGHT]]As of this post they are currently renovating the restaurant so although they are still serving food, it may be limited until it is finished which shouldn't be too long.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Mainly a place for visitors to the island as it is located at the Maui Coast Hotel, so prices are what you would expect, not crazy, but typical for Maui. read more

My family and I have been coming here for years, we've always loved it, but Tyler provided the BEST service. The drinks were delicious! His energy and attentiveness is fantastic no matter how busy it is! They've now added breakfast food as well and the surfer sandwich was so yummy and filling! Oohhh. This has been the biggest disappointment of our 9 week annual trip to Maui. The Pool Bar at the Maui Coast Hotel has always been fantastic. We've eaten dinner there several times a week, since back when it was 'Ami'Ami. When it transitioned to being managed by Kihei Caffe, we continued having dinner (and breakfast) there several times a week. This year, while Kihei Caffe is still its amazing self, [[HIGHLIGHT]]the atmosphere, service, and food at the pool bar is terrible.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] First, we ended up cleaning our own table after asking several times for it to be wiped down. We ordered 2 glasses of sangria and were served some horrible concoction that obviously had vodka in it, and when we finally got our server to come over she insisted it was the sangria. The bartender, however, knew it wasn't. Then, my husband ordered a burger without the bun as he is celiac, and got, of course, a burger on a bun, so that had to be recooked, and when they finally returned the server said he couldn't have the fries (weird, since he has always been told the fries are gluten free) so was served a patty on a piece of lettuce and then, as an afterthought, asked if he wanted a house salad. My kalua pork bao buns were okay, not as good as they used to be, and my Cobb salad was decent, but $4 extra for avocado, which is normally a part of a Cobb salad. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The live music was also disappointing, and that's a first.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] For $100, it was an expensive mistake. I hope the Maui Coast Hotel is able to pull this back from the fire, because the Pool Bar was always an asset and frequented by locals as well as tourists and hotel guests. read more

My husband and I are staying at the Maui coast hotel. We had heard wonderful things about the cafe but since it's closed for construction, we decided to try the pool bar. When we walked up, we were not greeted by any server and we had to walk up to the bar where all the servers were talking. They told us to sit wherever so we sat down and made our decision. No one came up to us for drinks or to ask if we needed anything for about 10 minutes. My husband went up to the servers to say we are ready to order. My husband had the Philly cheese steak. He said it lacked a lot of flavor and not much to it. I had the tuna melt. It was very bland and it tasted like they just opened a can and put it on bread with tomato. The food was served in cardboard to go boxes, like the ones you get when you do take out. When we finished, it was the same for getting the check. The waiters were all up at the bar and my husband had to get up to ask for the check. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There were flies all over and they kept landing on us and our food.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Lastly, there was live music which was fun but it was so loud. We used to come to the Hanohano Pool Bar at the Maui Coast Hotel at least twice each month. Several months ago we noticed that their food prices went up considerably. When we asked the wait staff why the prices had gone up so significantly, they responded that it was because of the Lahaina fire. What? To us locals , that doesn't make any sense. $22 for a mediocre burger or a BLT sandwich? We have had hit and miss service here in the past, but the lovely poolside ambience and nightly music lured us back. Went back yesterday afternoon and the food and the service was not good. Sorry, but we are going to take our business elsewhere. read more
