During our stay here in Kihei, we enjoyed Haui's Life's a Beach so much we came back a few times. The first time, a karaoke loving friend of mine and I came in for a quick check-out the vibe kamikaze shot, and we liked it so much here we returned later, and even later after that, our husbands joined us. A few days later, we all came back and brought more friends. Yeah, it's just that kind of place! Every time we came in, the bouncer, wait staff, and bartenders were welcoming and totally on it. The drinks were spot on (why no pics? We were too busy drinking!) and the food hit the spot. Both karaoke KJs were welcoming, organized, and talented singers. Songs are texted in using the well placed codes about the bar. Many of my friends sang on the different nights. The sound was good, the mic/s were good, and the music choices were available. The only meh part for one friend was for one song where the music was slower and in a different key, but my vocally talented friend adjusted. No worries - it just wasn't her favorite. She still rocked it! Everyone here in the crowd was cool. People were really friendly and lots of folks who didn't know each other were chatting amongst themselves and with us. The singers that showed up ran the gamut from fun loving to full of passion all the way to "is this a professional?" Everyone in the audience was appreciative and positively responsive, with lots of high fives, fist bumps, and cheers. And really, isn't that the beauty of karaoke? Sharing and appreciating each other's bravery, talent, passion, and energy? For that, this place is must definitely THE place. read more

Had a great time stopping in here each night that I was in Kihei. I managed to stop in on one very busy night, one slow night, and one average night, so I got to see it all different ways, and it's what you'd expect in a local dive bar. The bartenders were doing the best they could on the busy night and the crowd was very understanding. On the slower and more average nights you could tell everyone was less stressed. From some of the reviews here you'd think some people have never been in a local dive before. I came mainly for the karaoke, which runs every night. Easy system for requesting a song- just send a text with your name, artist, and title. Good crowd for karaoke too, everybody applauds, a mix of good singers and people fueled by liquid courage. Again, just what you want in a karaoke dive bar. Only bar I've ever been into that had a dB SPL meter behind the bar, too. I didn't ask for the story behind it, but I bet there is one. Terrible cell phone reception here, and I kept forgetting to ask for the WiFi password. So if you're using a ride share service, plan ahead. Glad to have a favorite karaoke spot on the island now. Rude ass bartender who said, "Oh, we're gonna have a problem then," when I informed her there was a fruit fly in my drink. What's the problem?? It was a damn Red Bull vodka. Do y'all have fruit flies stuck in the vodka bottles or?? She then proceeded to say, "Do you want me to take it out?" Uh, no. I could've done that myself. I'm asking if you could remake the drink, hello?? She asked if I drank from it. I said no because I immediately noticed it when it was given to me. Right after, her and another bartender gave the drink WITH the fruit fly to who I'm assuming was their regular, telling him how I didn't want it because it had a fruit fly in it, like I was somehow in the wrong. They were talking shit and laughing while I'm not even two bar stools away. I'm in the F&B industry myself and would NEVER in a million years act like that toward a guest, especially over a bug in a product people are paying for. No apology, accountability, or problem-solving -- nothing. Maybe since it's such a shit, dingy, beat-up bar, that behavior is considered acceptable by their standards. read more

Service was iffy...bartender said she couldn't make an old fashioned because she "didn't have the ingredients". Now, that may not be her fault as bartender, but how does a bar not have ingredients for an old fashioned? Otherwise our drinks were good, but definitely a bar for an older crowd. read more

A local friend of mine took me there last night because he knew I like doing karaoke. It was a nice environment lots of people on a Friday night very nice price of drinks. The karaoke DJ was fantastic. Had a great assortment of songs and kept the crowd entertained. I'll definitely go back next time. I'm in town. read more

Life's a beach was a literal blast!! One of the highlights of my trip to Maui. Not only were the bevs cheap, but the vibes were immaculate. I made easy friendships with the patrons and got to hear gorgeous singers all night. Christine and T were the karaoke jockeys & they were spectacular!! We met Christine the first night and she carried the best vibes all night & T was such a doll, he gave gold stars to his favorite singers which was adorable. We stayed in Maui for a week & went at least 3x . Best night life by far. Anyway, next time I'm in Maui , I absolutely will be back at life's a beach. read more

Haui's Life's A Beach is located in north Kihei on the south east corner across from the grocery store. Stopped in this evening to try out their happy hour and ended up with some Baja tacos and a One Mean Mai Tai. The maintai was decent, not terribly strong but not bad. The Baja tacos were the star of the show however. Lots of flavor, crispy and delicious. The kitchen closes at 8pm so make sure you allow enough time if you are hungry. The staff was friendly and informative and it was nice to see some Raiders swag being that we are from Las Vegas. read more

All the karaoke hosts were great AND a special shout out to Sweet T. He was exceptional! I would leave zero if I could. I'm 22 years old with an out of state ID and the bouncer made me and all of my friends leave. He was extremely rude about and said "it even smells fake". This is a great bar in Kihei. They have affordable drink, great karaoke and a nice patio. The inside is very spacious so you have enough room to socially distance and there plenty of space at the bar. This is one of the larger bars in the area so it tends to draw a decent mix of regulars and vacationers. The drinks are also cheaper than at the neighboring bars. I havent tried the food yet but it always smells good when walking past. I do recommend this spot. read more

This is the most perfect place to have karaoke in Kihei. It's a small corner bar but so fun to hang out, sing, and dance. We didn't try their food but their drinks are good enough to keep the fun going. The service was friendly, and chill (so keep that in mind, while you're chillin). The best part is, texting the songs that you want to sing, and this pretty much puts you in the rotation. They have unending list of songs online so you can prepare your list before you get there. I ordered rare and it came out rare (no blood but it's close enough), and the fries were also very good. Can't judge the food, drinks were great and the karaoke was fun. This review is solely based on service. Lady demanded tip from my friend on his third round of drinks (he tipped first two times around). Not only did she demand it, she demanded it in front of his friends, closed the tab, and threw off the vibe for the rest of the night. We all ended up closing our tabs and leaving shortly after. If this didn't happen, we would've stuck around longer, ordered more drinks and those of us who hadn't closed our tabs would've tipped much higher. Not only did they lose out on money that trip but also missed out on us coming back since we're here for the rest of the week. Hope those extra $2 were worth it. read more

If there was an option for no stars I would. It's kinda sad the bartenders aren't happy enough they have to beg for tips. First girl was definitely self centered and demanded a tip for service otherwise there's no point of being there. she absolutely ruined our night within the first couple mins. this bar is just a mid place especially when the workers are so inconsiderate. This is about the service I was here not that long ago and we usually when we go to bars we tip out the bartender on the last round and it's NEVER been a problem, but the bartender girl with a slight accent with maybe dirty blonde hair refused/ignored service to us because we didn't tip on the first round (beer & vodka-soda) and was really rude, first she ignored us standing there for a very long time serving everyone that came up until we said something about it and then she told us it's because we didn't tip her and we are a waste of her time and if we want more drinks we need to tip her, Coming from a server she should of ASKED why we didn't tip but instead made it a bigger problem by being petty, working in the service industry tips are a great but she needs to understand that no one has to tip (as much as I support it) it isn't mandatory, and you are not supposed to refuse service because of it OR demand it from the customer like she did.. Who SAYS that. She should try not to assume so quickly because we are GREAT tippers as we understand and work in the industry, she really ruined our night and made us uncomfortable there we left immediately. Came here for wings and drinks. Sat at the bar. The bartender was really nice. Promptly waited on us and checked to see how we were doing many times. The first drink I ordered was the Island Hurricane. It was good. Not super strong. Then my friend and I ordered the mai tai carafe for only $10. That's the way to go if you anticipate drinking more than one Mai tai. The wings were so good!! They batter and fry them. They were so crispy and juicy. They don't come sauced so if you like them saucy, ask for extra. The restaurant has plenty of indoor seating and air conditioning. There are a few outdoor tables but if you go in the afternoon, they're in direct sun. I really enjoyed my experience here and would highly recommend it. Very casual and laid back. read more
