The shopping plaza has it's own parking out (hint, more parking in the rear). Service was friendly and efficient. Started off with a Lychee Lemonade for myself. I LOVE everything Lychee and it was very hot day so the drink was very refreshing. Had a sip of my partner's Strawberry Lemonade and that was very good as well. I had the Banh Mi Chao. I was a bit surprised when it was first brought to the table. I've had this dish at other Vietnamese places before and it was never this saucy. It looked almost like a soup. Really great Vietnamese place in East Sac! I was very impressed with the extent of their menu. Their pho is still Southern style even given the northern style name and other dishes. I ordered the Bun Cha and my friend ordered a pho. Her tip is to order the large size so that the bowl stays nice and hot. I loved the Bun Cha dish! It came with the sausage as well as grilled pork swimming in fish sauce. I also liked that the dish came with a lot of veggies as well. There is ample seating and the waiter seemed attentive and helpful. Definitely a far cry from the service you find at typical places in South Sac. But perhaps you pay a little extra for that. The veggies provided were bean sprouts, basil, jalapenos, and lime. The parking lot is extremely small and very difficult to maneuver around. Pretty good vermicelli bowl overall too; no-fuss vermicelli noodles (not too hard/soft and zero clumpiness) and although the veggie roll filling was a little watery the veggie roll exterior was still deliciously crispy. I also tried the grilled pork banh mi. Eh, not my fave rendition. Although the marinade on the grilled pork was a flavor bomb, the pork was overcooked-chewy with some burnt bits. Also the condiment proportions were off (very little pickled veggies). Friendly staff. Hanoi 36 Streets has only been open for about a year and half - they also have a Woodland location that opened a few months ago. Parking isn't the greatest - there are only a few parking spots in front, otherwise it is street parking. The inside is decent in size with plenty of tables. The bathroom was fairly clean as well. We were greeted immediately and found a table - a nice younger girl took our drink and appetizer order. We ordered Lychee Lemonade, Netted Egg Rolls, small Tai Nam Gau Pho, a large Tai Lan Pho and a Pho for Kid. Everything was super tasty! It was our first time trying the Netted Egg Rolls and I actually prefer them over the traditional kind. The Pho broth was nice and flavorful - you get the option for fresh or regular noodles as well. I really liked the chili oil that came on the table - it really balanced out the Pho. They also offer Spring Rolls, Chicken Wings, Vermicelli Noodle Bowls, Banh Mi, Garlic Noodles and even Fried Rice. I want to come back for their Vietnamese Iced Coffee and Banh Mi Chao! We stopped by for dinner this past weekend, found parking right away in the small lot, and were greeted as soon as we stepped inside. The setting was clean and bright, with lovely artwork on the wall. There was no wait to be seated, and staff was friendly and helpful the entire time. I give it a 4/5 stars if you can eat shrimp paste. The smell is very pungent if you're not used to eating southeast Asian foods. I can see why a lot of people don't like the dish. Hate to make this update but it seems like they changed from the thicker noodles to very skinny noodles on their garlic noodles. Just did taste right from what I usually get. The thicker noodles were really what made the garlic noodles good in terms of texture to soaking up the garlic flavor. Who knows, maybe I went on a day where they ran out of the thicker noodles and had the thinner ones for a substitute. I will have to find something else on the menu. We had this on our checklist of places to go, so we went all out on our order to share. We got bun dau mam tom for 2, Banh mi chao, and fish sauce chicken wings. For drinks we got strawberry and lychee lemonade. The fish sauce wings... FIRE! We ordered way too much food. Next time we'll get the bun dau mam tom for 1 when sharing a variety of things. I loved the dish, but wasn't a fan of the noodles. I prefer the netted noodles, or the noodle the vermicelli noodles they had but not bunched up like a rice cake. It made the texture very chewy. The bun dau mam tom is definitely for the adventurous. It has innards that only a person with a love of all foods would enjoy. As for the banh mi chao I enjoyed it, but the tomatoes were too juicy and should have been seared a little. The banh mi bread that comes with it was soooo good. As far as service, the owner was carrying a customers baby while she ate . I thought it was so kind of her to lend a hand to those parents who probably just wanted to enjoy a meal. First time trying Hanoi 36 Streets and everything was wonderful! The portions were large and somehow we managed to eat everything. I had a wonderful food experience and would come back, but the only thing that ruined the experience a bit was the fly inside the restaurant. When the food came out, it kept trying to land on the food, so shooing it away constantly was annoying. When more people started to come in, another fly or two also came in. I really wish they would have killed the fly or at least provide a spinner fan so it would deter the flies away. I think it would be helpful for this restaurant to get air curtains or any other fly deterrent. Back to the food -- we enjoyed our food a lot. The flavor of all the dishes were a bit sweet, but not overwhelming. I am not typically one to like sweet styled foods but it was not bad. I prefer more savory and/or spicy food. This restaurant tasted a bit more like southern Vietnamese food. The fish sauce wings were good and crispy. The fish sauce was not strong and it had a hint of sweetness. I'm glad they didn't drench the wings in sauce! It had the perfect amount but if you want more, you can scoop some sauce from the plate. The pho broth was good but also had a sweet taste to it. It was a light sweetness so I was able to mask it with sriracha and chili oil. There was a very large portion of noodles, but I do wish there was a bit more meat in the bowl to balance it out and be more proportionate. The garlic noodles with grilled pork were great! However, the garlic noodles itself could use more flavor and more garlic. It was a bit bland but still good especially after adding chili oil. When you mix everything with the cucumber and spring veggies, it tasted just like a vermicelli bowl but with garlic noodles instead. The meal was very refreshing with cucumbers and spring veggies and it helped to break up the heaviness of the meal. I would get this meal again! Generous portions and really good. If you want to sweat a lot like you're in a sauna while you eat hot pho, then you can come here. It is almost 100 degrees outside and they refuse to turn the AC on or to comfort level. We asked nicely to turn down the AC and they stated it is low enough. Businesses that cheap out on the comfort of customers is a huge no for me. There's something comforting about walking into a dining establishment and seeing their stock piled high both behind the counter on ceiling high shelves, but also around corners and on the way to the back. Some would say it subtracts from the ambiance, but to me, it is a showing that flavor is primary and to be respected at this establishment. The Pho broth was lighter than expected, but in a good way! It allows you to really taste each of the vegetables and sauces you add yourself. It is mild, not bland. And it is delicious. I would highly recomend the standard noodle over the fresh cut noodle - the fresh cut is a little softer than I prefer and does not absorb the broth's flavor well compared to its traditional counterpart. Everything was so tasty! We ordered the pho without meat, netted egg rolls, and the pork banh mi. The bahn mi had really good flavor and very filling. My dad was only able to eat 1 half. Why could he only eat half you ask? Because it was filled with a lot of meat which was awesome! The smell of the pho took me right back to my time to Vietnam. Came here on a fall evening with my Vietnamese In-Laws. They were here for the Choa Long and Bun Dau Man Tom which were satisfying to their delight while I raved over their garlic noodles. The portion size was more that enough to split in half and still be full but the flavor was off the charts for me. Initially the service was spotty with the host not too attentive that my sister in law needed to get up to grab him for our orders. The restaurant itself is a small mom n pop shop with enough seating for a couple big groups and parking is slim in the front but more parking in the back. They are very fast with cooking the food and dont skimp out on the flavor even if ordered to go which we've done afterwards. I came running when someone told me they had bun cha because I was missing Vietnam. The parking lot is very small, plenty of street parking if you have time to look, but it's dark and sketch. Be aware. The inside of the restaurant is very chic, customer service was a mix. One of the girls was really friendly and the other just not approachable at all. Asked nicely to sit in the corner and she was like uhm can you not. I was coughing a lot and just wanted to be away from people, but I kindly agreed. The Bun cha was flavorful but it was kinda lukewarm and served with iceberg lettuce. I was just a little disappointed but it still satisfied my craving. First and foremost, the service here at Hanoi 36 Streets is phenomenal. I was traveling with a big group of 22, but they were able to accommodate us and had our tables ready with just a 10 minute prior phone call to let them know we were coming. There was a FIFA World Cup semi final game going on and they had 2 t.v.'s, but the one that was facing our group was showing something else. Upon request, our server and the cashier were so nice and helpful to change the channel and gave us the opportunity to eat and watch the game. The server (a young-looking man with a grey streak in his hair) was always smiling, very friendly, patient, and was very quick on getting our orders and getting our food to us. The food we ordered were fresh and amazing. I had the tastiest Banh Mi I had ever had. The bread was soft and the meat was flavorful and juicy and the amount in the sandwich is a lot.
