Hidden gem.com! If you're looking for authentic flavors this is the place to go. I had bun bo hue, and it had the broth flavor down to a T. It needed to be spicier, and the only chili option was a thai chili no chili oil on the table. I also got the vermicelli platter and the meat was well seasoned, and nuoc mam wasn't plain. The service was on top of it despite a slight language barrier, and they gave us all the sauce we needed. Stumbled upon Co Bo Saigon when another restaurant was closing earlier than we expected and my husband wanted Bun Bo Hue. It wasn't busy around 8pm but we were seated quickly. Food also came out super quick. Husband said it was the best Bun Bo Hue he has had so far. My sister liked her Pho Tai. I tried the Bo Ne and found it delicious. I've been craving a good avocado shake since my pregnancy and was pleasantly surprised to find one here. It was absolutely delicious and one of the best avocado shakes I've had in a long time. The beef rip pho was delicious and huge!! Waitstaff was very friendly and took great care of us. The spring rolls and Thai tea were yummy. The only thing I would point out is that all five water cups that were at our table smelled very strongly of bleach so we didn't drink any water. Not sure if it just happened to be our cups, but it was very late in the day and we were super hungry so we just ordered different drinks. Went here on a cold winter night in February with my siblings for dinner. The restaurant had a steady stream of customers, but was not overly packed, which I prefer. We ordered the spring rolls and the duck rice plate as an appetizer. I liked both dishes, but did prefer the spring rolls and the peanut sauce. Both dishes were good. I ended up ordering a small bowl of pho for myself and it was good. My siblings all ordered pho as well except one who ordered the Bun Bo Hue. Came here spontaneously because my friend and I wanted pho on a Sunday evening and it was conveniently opened later than other pho spots. We came in and were immediately seated. They have a great selection of different dishes on their menu and I ended up getting a medium pho tai nam gan and for the price, the portion was unbelievable. There was a significant amount of pho noodles and they do not skimp on the protein either, plenty of meat and tendon! The tendon here was cooked so well, soft yet still chewy in texture just the way I like it. The noodles themselves were nice and bouncy and although the broth was a tad bit bland and sweeter than I expected, I think the spices used in the broth helped give it more flavor and aroma and with the addition of scallion oil/nuoc beo, it was a solid bowl of pho. We also got two orders of their sugar cane juice/nuoc mia and it was nice and sweet! We were taken care of by Tony and a man whom I believe is the owner of the restaurant. Both of them were extremely nice and accommodating which made the dining experience that much more enjoyable and pleasant. I got #27 which is a pork chop rice plate. It was so filling! Great portions for everything it came with and the server gave me a side of broth which complimented the meal so well. We ordered the spring rolls to start with, and I personally ordered the seafood pho. Spring rolls were freshly made, soft and delicious. I liked how my pho's soup was light and clear. It didn't taste super heavy or full of MSG. I love the fried garlic and chives in there. I've never encountered seafood pho with fish balls, but these were really good. It had 2 shrimps and plenty of squid. I tried the beef pho soup from my husband's pho, and I liked how it tasted well seasoned with real spices... not MSG. Solid food and great customer service. I was sad to see Pho Sacto go but after talking to the server, I was told they still have the same cooks! We tried their grilled pork plate, catfish clay pot, egg rolls and bun bo hue tonight. Their catfish was perfectly cooked but was a tad too salty and a bit fishy. YUM! after a complicated few minutes of trying to figure out my order, Ive decided on Bun Rieu with Xtra BLOOD! (How vietnamese) DEEE-LISH! best broth I've had since moving to Sac over a decade ago. I've had a majority of my viet food profile comparisons from Westminster/Garden Grove (IYKYK) and I hella miss it! I'm super picky when it comes to our native dishes, and I'm happy to say that this place came the closest to authentic! If you decide to try... it will not disappoint! A lot of the places around sac overcook the pork blood and it becomes rubbery. They DO NOT do that here. I also ordered the Bo Luc Lac. I know every place makes it different, but I find that you're able to control the temp of the beef more if they're cut into cubes instead of thinly sliced. So the cook was a little overdone for my son's taste but the flavor was still good! Portion size was okay with the meat, could be better but nothing that would ruin the experience for us. I did stop in pretty late, was happy to see they were still open! Their kitchen stops receiving orders at 9:30! Love that for Sac! Will definitely be back to try everything else they have to offer. I believe this use to be where Pho Sacto was. This building changed a couple of ownership. Decided to stop by for lunch since the hubs said there was this new place to try from one of our friends. After watching one of the Vietnam episodes from No Reservations with Anthony Bourdain, I wanted to try Banh Canh Cua. It was #86 on the menu here. When it arrived it looked very good, and it turned out to be very tasty. I am not sure of all the ingredients, it definitely had shrimp, pork with bones, quail eggs, thick noodles, fish cakes, green onions and some sort of meatballs. I added some bean sprouts and the leaves (mint?) that were provided with some hot oil. Can always count on a Viet restaurant to be open on a major holiday! My family stopped in on July 4th for a quick brunch. Food: - Pho Dac Biet: it immediately had a very deep aromatic smell that I couldn't quite place. The color looked very brown and couldn't see any oil at the top of the broth. The broth is very different than what I'm used to as it had larger measurements of spices than normal; I'm thinking way more cloves and maybe nutmeg? The broth tasted veeeery roasted and nutty. It seems like the recipe forgoes using oil and instead adds a roasty-ness instead. It wasn't my favorite pho broth but it still tasted good nonetheless. - Bun Bo Hue: Also not my fav. It tasted like a generic soup base with which they added BBH spiciness. It lacked a whole, complete, rounded flavor. My mom agreed and was disappointed by the BBH. - Banh Canh Cha Cua: THIS WAS AMAZING. Possibly the best banh canh cua I've had in Sacramento. The broth was incredibly thick and absolutely blasted me with crab flavor, just like how it should! There's plenty of shrimp, pork, fish cake, quail eggs, and crab balls so every bite should have some protein. The broth was so good I nearly finished it! Would definitely come back here for this. Service: Typical Viet service. They told us to pick any table and we sat ourselves at the end of a large 8 party table because all of the smaller ones were either taken or dirty. My mom commented that the restaurant felt dirty but hey, that should be expected right? Some places be serving warm soup and by the time I add my beansprouts and lime, it's cold. PCBS don't be messing around when it comes to the generous amounts of meat. To all the meat-lovers, this is where you'll get your protein fix. Not only do they give a lot, they're chunky pieces. Next time, I'll probably get something other than the combo. It was too meaty for my taste. Being from the East Bay, not many pho places offer small sizes anymore. It's either regular(medium) or large. So you can say that I was pretty stoked when I was able to order a small bowl of pho. I love that they have 2 types of chili. I believe one is dried and another is fresh. 2 giant spoonfuls of the fresh chili in my bowl of pho with sriracha drizzled around and a dollop of hoisin sauce got me feeling so satisfied. Mouth is burning, nose is running - but I just can't stop! This is one the 2nd time I've been here and I can see why my little brother loves this place. I'm surprised to see such high reviews for this restaurant. Unfortunately that wasn't my experience. I ordered the grilled pork rice plate (#24). I wish they had an option of the grilled pork rice plate with egg rolls included, like other Vietnamese restaurants that I've been to in the area, but I didn't see that option on the menu. The first bite I took of the pork was mushy which took me by surprise. I've never had that happen before when I've ordered this dish elsewhere. In addition, the portions were really small. I also ordered a side of broth, but the broth had a weird taste to me. They also didn't put any green onions in the broth at all, unlike all the other Vietnamese restaurants I've been to. I think it tastes better when green onions are in the broth. I didn't think it was worth the price. The prices here are the same as their competitors but it was less food and less flavor. read more
