Wish I had seen this yelp page before using them. STAY AWAY from this florist, especially if Ron DiMaggio from Par Troy Funeral Home sent you! The owner Marc is a complete LIAR and con artist. I have never dealt with such a two-faced person lacking all compassion. On the recommendation of Ron, I used East Hanover Floral for my father's funeral. We agreed on an arrangement, the highlight being orchids at our request. Marc talked up how beautiful it would look with orchids hanging down the casket. On the day of the funeral, the first thing my mom notices is that there are no orchids! You would think that Marc not holding up his end of a business agreement would be the bad part, but it's not. Ron calls Marc and he requests specifically to speak with me. First, he never apologizes. Worse, he goes straight into trying to turn it against my innocent mother. He completely MAKES UP OUT OF THIN AIR that when my mother returned to pay the bill the next day (side note, our HUGE MISTAKE - prepaying everything in cash!) he told my mom that he would not be able to get orchids but that he would add in other flowers. This was completely made up. If he had truly done that, it would have been an issue and my mom would have found an alternative florist. He had the nerve on the day of my father's funeral to get into an argument with me, starting my father's funeral on an angry and negative note, never apologizing for his mistake, and insinuating that he was holding his tongue and could say some very nasty things to me. It is ludicrous. I am a 38 year old woman who just lost her 66 year old father to an aggressive cancer and watched him slowly suffer and pass away. On the day of his funeral before the ceremony the florist does not give us the arrangement we ordered for him, is yelling at me, lying, blaming my innocent mother for no reason, not owing up to or apologizing for his mistake, and not even attempting to make up for it. My husband later reached out to him because I was so upset and they agreed that Marc could make it up to us by giving a partial refund. Marc acts like he will do it and never delivers. We gave him a chance but after multiple emails it is clear that this con artist will once again not hold his end of a deal. TL;DR - Marc is all show and talk on the outside, but does not walk the walk. He's the kind of guy that looks you in the eyes and smiles while secretly twisting the knife in your back. He has shown his true colors to me; I gave him a chance to rectify everything and he has proven that he is a liar. I guarantee that he is ripping you off on your arrangement or lying to you in some way. Trust me, this is not someone you want to do business with! If for some reason you do not take my sound advice, the one thing I will recommend is only pay AFTER he does his job so that he cannot scam you. This is an update to my 8/17 1 star review: I called the shop and told them that I was disappointed with the quality, a lady took down my info and told me someone would call me back. 15 minutes later, someone did call and offered to swap out for a better bouquet. They got the new bouquet there before the employee left for the day. Boy was I grateful. So for that amazing customer service and immediate corrective action, I am changing my 1 star review to 5 stars for Hanover Floral Company gets a five star review. The lady told me to look in the fridge behind the counter for what they looked like. So I walked over, looked and oh gee, there was no bouquet labelled for $50 nor $75, only a couple of baskets labeled for cheaper. Fine, that's ok, no problem. I told the lady and she said, um ok...so I see another lady working on a nice looking arrangement to the right of the counter and fridge and I ask "how much is that bouquet?" The lady taking my order asked the lady arranging the flowers, and she said "$50." So I'm thinking, ok if that's what $50 looks like then $75 must be even better! DEAD WRONG! What was delivered to my employee (who thankfully was simply appreciative and sent me a picture of the bouquet to show her gratitude) was a sparse collection of flowers that looked identical if not worse than the $50 arrangement I saw the day before. I am so disappointed and embarrassed by the arrange when I saw the picture. I wanted to do something so very special to show my appreciation to my employee but instead, it looked like I cheaped out and sent her a crappy cheap arrange. Literally the worst customer service I have experienced in my entire life. We ordered flowers for Mother's Day that we're delivered on Saturday and they had to be thrown away yesterday (Wednesday). When we called and notified the establishment today, on a Thursday, the gentlemen (who was NOT a gentleman) didn't want anything to do with it. He was beyond rude, insinuated that we were lying. Was saying things like "let's play back the tapes here." Being extremely rude for a business owner, or employee. He never asked for a name or phone number. Little does he know, the family has given him business for 58 years, and this will be the last time. He kept pressing and pressing why didn't the recipient of the gift call? Why didn't they water the flowers? Of course they watered the flowers, and the recipients are elderly and hardly call anyone. This behavior was one of the worst customer experiences I have ever encountered. I would rather pick dandelions and gift them, than use this establishment. I wish I could give 0 stars. read more

This just might be my new go-to location for holiday arrangements. I stopped in looking for a grave cover for the Christmas season, and found one that was almost perfect but I liked some of the decorations on another arrangement better. The wonderful gentleman who worked there went out of his way to swap the decorations for me, creating the perfect grave cover. I felt the staff was very rude and kind of cheated us on the price. We started off with a 25$ bouquet and she went upto 83$. We had requested modifications on the bouquet and the florist said we can add the requested flowers for additonal charge which was ok with us. She claims she added extra tiny flowers and leaves and twigs without letting us know and eventually said this bouquet is 83$. When we asked for a explanation on the price some guy comes from inside the store n very rudely says we really need to wrap this up. I think we deserved the right to know how a 25$ bouquet ended up being 83$. We never got a true explanation on how the price ended up being so high. This'll probably sound like some sort of Hallmark commercial, but Hanover Floral has been there for all the important moments in my life. Flowers for my parent's 25th wedding anniversary in the 90s.. to my sweet 16 cotillion.. to the rose bouteneer for my blind semi-formal date (well the guy wasn't blind.. it was a blind date).. to the other rose bouteneer for my awkward prom date (!!!).. to flowers for a family funeral. Hanover Floral has been through it all with my family. One of my recent dealings involved flower stands for a family funeral. They took us into a back room which they normally use for weddings (must have.. there was white gauzy stuff everywhere). I felt awkward at first, but I realized that this was ultimately better because who wants to discuss funeral arrangements out in the open. I think their prices are great and that their flowers always look amazing. They've been around since 1928.. so they obviously know what they're doing. Check their website for delivery areas. Ordered centerpieces for a surprise party that were absolutely spectacular. Colors were vibrant, flowers lasted for a week after the party, staff including delivery man were professional, helpful, and courteous.Everyone at the party asked what florist we used... I gave 4 starts because flowers were not delivered at agreed upon time. When I called the florist to inquire where the delivery was, they said centerpieces would arrive in 5 minutes which was 20 minutes late. I would definitely use this florist again because their arrangements are breathtakingly beautiful, but I suggest calling the morning of the delivery to make sure they are running on time. read more

This place is great for all the stuff you need for your garden. Although they do have floral arrangements and so on, I found their garden supplies to be extensive and inexpensive. They have a nice assortment of decorative as well as edible plants. I really enjoy walking around the gardens and houses and seeing all the cool plants they've got. I have to take a star off because it can sometimes be really difficult to wrangle someone to ring you up at the register or find someone to help you make garden-variety decisions (HA!). They have wagons for you to gather your plants together if there's more than you can carry, but there's only six, so on a busy day, bring some helping hands to carry stuff for you. read more

If I could put 0 stars, I would! Awful experience. They COMPLETELY forgot my wedding date and flowers. At the very last minute, while in the recoding line at the end of the ceremony, someone shows up with half dead, embarrassing, wrong colored, class-less flower bundles. No one had bouquets, no flower halos for the flower girls, and no corsages or flowers for the men. I immediately sent the makeshift flowers back (after throwing them!). Ridiculous. I used Hanover Florist's "Cemetery Service" for seasonal flower plantings for a loved one's grave at one of the 2 local cemeteries they serve. I initially was very pleased with the quality of what they provided every year but have since fired them due to a sudden lapse in common sense used by the person who is responsible for planting the flowers. An adjacent grave also had this same service and for whatever reason one flower bed was made for the 2 graves, making this look like both graves were part of a family plot. I was not happy to see this. When I complained the same nitwit who most likely did this single bed planting took what looked like the the top of a shovel handle and drew a line in the dirt to "separate" the flower beds. Fortunately, I had some garden tools in my car trunk and made 2 separate flower beds, as it should have been done by Hanover in the 1st place. I called their attention to how they handled my complaint and received all the right apologies. However with subsequent seasonal plantings, the same thing occurred, so I fired them. I have since used a competitor, Ridgedale Florist, who is very good and significantly cheaper. read more

And they don't deliver to the area where I needed the flowers so an additional charge. There are better places that don't try to shake you down after you made the order. Apparently, the delivery address was not in their local delivery area, so I had not met their minimum purchase requirement. When I called back I was repeatedly told that I must have ordered from a different website and they don't offer that arrangement on their own website , at that price, even though I ordered it directly from their website hanoverfloral.net. I was then told, after they spoke with the manager, they could send a different bouquet or the same one but without the vase. I asked them to make up a new bouquet but to specifically include lilies in it and email me a picture of the new bouquet. The bouquet sent did not have lilies and I was not sent a picture. Shop elsewhere and don't fall for the bait and switch this company seems to be pulling since 2012 (according to other yelp reviews). Forgotten order number 2! Physically went to the store to discuss order with the ladies at the desk as well as the owner Mark who seems to be the only one who can get anything done in the store. Three weeks before our event we placed the order, despite reading a few scary reviews here ( we wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt, accidents happen) However, when we called to confirm our order 4 days before they had no idea what we were talking about. There was no record of the order even though we paid in full! They asked us to email the receipt and they were supposed to get right back to us but didn't. When we called them back Mark got on the phone and had us read our order to him so he could re do the the order. On the day before the event we called to yet again confirm and they had no record of the order AGAIN! Mark was the only one who seemed to know what was happening, but was far from apologetic or concerned about the level of customer service. I placed an order thru Teleflora; which Hanover Floral Company is a partner with. I picked this florist to fill the order since the funeral home recommended them. I picked an arrangement with roses, carnations, snapdragons, larkspur, matsumoto and monte cassino asters, nestled among leather leaf fern and eucalyptus. When I got to the funeral home the next day, I saw a flower arrangement made out of chrysanthemums and carnations with palm leaves. What happen to the lovely arrangement I saw on the website ? Teleflora claims all arrangements are suppose to look close to the picture on the website as possible or the florist is suppose to call you to tell you they are substituting flowers or did not have the flowers. Well that is not what happen, no one call me. How can a florist run out of roses ? Hanover Floral said they get flower delivery twice a day. They could of substituted the pink and lavender roses with cream roses. Buyer beware Hanover Floral also over charges. Using the same item number - Hanover floral is charging $195.00 while Teleflora was only charging $112.00. read more

I was very specific with my budget, type of flowers I expected and did not want, color scheme as well as style I was going for. With that said and with numerous emails, site visits to the store and phone calls - I was greatly disappointed with the final centerpieces that arrived at my event. I hosted a very special evening at a very special venue and expected the flowers to complement the elegant atmosphere. Sad to say that the flowers were far from what I expected. What I call "fillers," inexpensive flowers such as carnations, were added to the centerpieces to "fill" the vases. Even the colors were off in spite of my repeated requests via emal & phone calls not to include certain colors... The positive comment I do have is that the staff was pleasant to deal with, but, given the choice of a friendly staff providing subpar flowers versus a not too friendly florist that delivers on their promise, I think I can bear a slight chill in the air.
