Saw a post about Han's Bakery from a Facebook friend and it was featured in the Only In Your State article. So we made the trek to Anoka for a Sunday drive to check out the bakery. We came around 1pm and most of everything was gone. There was one famous beehive donut left so of course we had to get it. We also picked out two frosted sprinkled donuts, a chocolate old fashioned and a cherry cream cheese danish roll plus a sliced of the Princess Torte. I wanted to see how it compares with Wuollet's princess torte. We couldn't wait to try out the donuts and so we parked at a nearby park ave devoured our treats! The donuts were soft and moist with no fried grease oil smell or after taste! It was delicious. Since we ate all the single treats, we didn't have room for the beehive and so it went in the fridge for the next day. Tried the beehive the next day and the dough was hard and crispy. Not soft. I wish I had opened it on the day of to try it fresh. The almond toppings were tasty. The bavarian cream was a little too much and too sweet for me. I think the next time, we will have to go super early to try the Texas donut and other variations of the smaller beehive. It's worth the experience. A little pricey.

I love this place. Tucked back in classic Anoka Hans is a local legend. Home made cinnamon rolls, donuts and pastries you simply cannot go wrong here. You can get their dozen specialties which is a real treat. I would encourage everyone to check this classic place out!

Had a great donut and coffee this morning. Thanks for the good service !

Love this place! Awesome selection of pastries and beverages. Love the gigantic donuts!

    They close early. Hours undependable.

Terrible customer service. I called before arriving to ask about same day pick up, which their website says they do. On the phone they said they can't. I asked what doughnuts they still had, they named many. Got there 20 mins later and they decided to close 15 mins early, why wouldn't you tell me when I called and said I was coming, that you are closing early or low on doughnuts, which you won't sell over phone or online. Hans bakery no one has time for unreasonable bad service.

Nonetheless, there was a really great variety of meats available packaged and ready to go as well as a great array of sweets, drinks, and other food items. I ended up grabbing a Tbone, NY strip, and some monster cookies for our dinner and the steaks were amazing! The cashier didn't know exactly what farm the meat was sourced from but she did say it was local to the Midwest and that's good enough for me. The cookies were sooo delicious, soft, and had big chunks of chocolate chip with peanuts too!

The selection of pastries was actually pretty large and they had a pretty decent selection of meats to pick from. They also have fried chicken which looked excellent. The staff was also friendly when you talked to them but didn't really go out of their way to interact. I would say the let down for me was the choice of breakfast sandwiches and also it does not appear they do normal sandwiches either which was the main reason I had gone hoping they had them as many other markets do. Still overall worth checking out.

We started with cheese curds. Loved that they were batter fried and not breaded. Very tasty and a huge app portion. My entree was the pulled pork sandwich with bbq beans. Everything was very good. He told me back then that someday we needed to check out J&J's. We love small business, local, non-chain restaurants. I decided to surprise my husband and take him to J&J's for Father's Day. We are empty nesters, so it was just the two of us for lunch. We arrived just after 12 p.m. There was a line out the door, which we expected since it was Father's Day and Sunday lunchtime. We were told it would be a 15-20 minute wait for a table, which we had no issue with. We ended up waiting less than 10 minutes because there was a table available on the patio. The weather was beautiful, and with summer being so short in Minnesota, we like to take advantage of it whenever we can. Our server came to our table shortly after we were seated, but it was long enough that we both had time to decide what we wanted before she arrived. I ordered the Texas Philly, and my husband had the brisket sandwich. We had to wait a while for our food, which we understood given how busy the restaurant was. Others around us were complaining about the wait, and those tables had a different server who was very apologetic about the kitchen being backed up. The hand-cut fries were piping hot and seasoned perfectly. It's so rare to go out to eat and get hot fries, let alone fries that are piping hot. That alone was worth the wait! My husband loved the brisket sandwich, and the Texas Philly was SO good--piled full of meat. We live in the south metro, but it was well worth the 30+ minute drive to get there. We'll definitely be back and will absolutely recommend J&J's to others!
