They need to get better help and service representatives who actually try to help their patients and not roll their eyes and tell a patient it's not their job to verify my insurance. Don't be fooled by their decor and facade, it's a show and it does not make up for their incompetent service team. Hire better staff who can take responsibility and help. Repurpose that receptionist to another position that doesn't have to be front facing, she clearly does not like her job.

Or something? I was recommended to a periodontal specialist. I wasn't aware that I'd need to do that in order to get any further regular cleanings. If I knew it was NEEDED before I could get a regular cleaning I might have been better about prioritizing my time and medical costs. I was supposed to have a cleaning and check-up in December to stay on schedule. I ended up in the hospital and couldn't go but the system thought I went and getting a new appointment through email, then phone wasn't that simple. 5 Months later I went in hoping for a cleaning and check up. I was told I needed a deeper more expensive cleaning. I sat there while they tried to find out if my insurance would cover it. I was there for an hour while they checked my insurance. I tried to understand why I couldn't get cleaned today regularly and deal with the other treatments later they couldn't say anything except it was "for my health benefit or protection" or something. The dentist also basically said "this is what happens if you don't come in regularly" and I was like..... "I've been trying...." Anyway -- that's a tale as long as a root canal and as sore as a toothache and really who cares. I'm mostly disappointed because I have such a hard time at the dentist with pain and when I first started at Tend I thought it was the best, most caring place ever .... but now they are saying I can't get cleaned unless I do all these other things which is just so odd so I guess we're breaking up. anyway. go but if anything happens that slightly alters your ability to be any kind of regular patient.... be warned it won't be easy to correct.

After a practice that didn't take covid seriously, did an unnecessary and COSTLY dental procedure that I am still healing from weeks later, hurting my lip, and being just a complete disorganized disaster, I'm really lucky that my second shot at dentistry was so much better. I prefaced in my last review that I made the mistake of not going to the dentist for a long time - granted, I didn't have insurance for 6 months and then the moment I got insurance, covid happened and I got scared. But still, it's reasonable I had a ton of build up/tartar/gum disease and definitely a wake up call for me. At the last dentist, I was told immediately I needed a root and scaling/deep clean without them even doing the measurement thing on my gums, just x-rays. They did the root and scale on my right side but not my left (only one is done at a time), which has left me weeks later with angry miserable gums, gaps in my teeth I didn't prior have, and cost me $500 out of pocket. When I got to Dr. Hoang, she actually took her time examining my x-rays, my gums, and my mouth to find that 1) the deep clean didn't even deep clean, as I still had a bunch of tartar making my gums even more unhappy and 2) my gums weren't as bad as I had thought, and I didn't even need to do a root and scaling/deep clean on the left side. If I had gone to Dr. Hoang in the first place, I wouldn't be still miserable, with ugly and uncomfortable gaps in my teeth that I literally struggle to talk and eat with, and wouldn't be out $500 as all she did was a regular cleaning for me on the left. My biggest disappointment is I didn't go to her first. On top of that she's super sweet, lets you ask questions, doesn't make you feel bad about your obvious mistakes, and makes sure you fully feel comfortable before she does anything. Thank you so much for restoring my faith in dentistry. The practice is also great!!! Sallie from reception was very pleasant over the phone and email, and I'm not sure if it was her or a different receptionist at the front today, but she was great too. Everyone is wearing masks and taking Covid very seriously. They sent out a covid form the night before and took my temperature when I arrived. And...... last thing, they were playing Death Cab for Cutie when I walked in. As a born and raised Seattleite, this made me so happy :)

It's such a small amount it's not worth fighting, but it's highly unethical, and they lost me a customer. The service also wasn't great - I arrived on time and I still had a long wait for the hygienists and the actual dentist. The visit took about an hour, which is far longer than my previous dentist.

I've…read moreonly had Dr. Izabella Belenkiy, but her caring demeanor is what makes me keep coming back here, even though I hate dentists. My mouth is SUPER-SENSITIVE, and I had some pretty deep cavities. but whenever you tell her to stop, she will. One of my cavities was so deep that the first time I went in, they couldn't do the procedure because I wouldn't allow her to get into the tooth there was so much sensitivity. She aborted that procedure (left me with a temporary filling), and the next time, she said "OK, we're going to try this differently this time since you're so sensitive" and the procedure was completed without pain of any kind during or after. Today, she started a root canal, which will be completed next time. Again, there was some extreme sensitivity, but this time she was like "I'm going to give you a few minutes, that's the only way we're going to get this done". Whatever she did before stepping out of the room for about 10 minutes helped immensely! Afterwards, she asked if there was any pain while she tried some things, when I said no, she got right to work. Again, aside from the initial thinking she was trying to kill me, no pain during or after. :) What got me started on this whole course of treatment was a dental emergency - I had SEVERE pain in a tooth (turned out that a wisdom tooth needed to be extracted, and she needed to send me elsewhere to have that done). She saw me, a patient that she had never seen before, on an hour's notice and referred me to an oral surgeon based on the X-rays that she took. Great customer service! I've been going back every week or two since for various procedures.

I came into the office having seen their great reviews and that they are "in-network" for my insurance, and everything was fine up until the end of the visit. I booked again and did more dental work the next week. A couple weeks later, I see an out of network charge on my insurance for 880$ for JUST the cleaning, driving my dental insurance costs to almost hit the yearly limit. And I received a bill north of 500$ for the rest of my dental work despite already paying a 300$ deductible. Not once were they transparent about their costs, and I have never felt so scammed in the medicine industry. Apparently, they have multiple offices that take different insurances at different locations, and based on your insurance, they will guarantee to bill you out of network - despite them telling you that you are "in-network" and your insurance is "accepted". Listen to the other one-star reviews if you have insurance, and be wary of situations like this. Always ensure costs before they do ANY kind of procedure on you.

The offices are modern, clean and conveniently located near the 7th Avenue station on the (Q) / (B) line in Park Slope. Reading some of the previous reviews, I hoping there's no issues with out-of-network billing. If it stays that way, I'd highly recommend iSmile Dental to anyone looking to have a dental experience that sucks significantly less.
